hey, i love y'all remember that ok? now we may proceed.
Ryan.
It was our last full day in the house and we were going up.
"Excuse me." Imani came in the room and laid on top of me.
"Bae, make the orangutan lookin' hoe move."
"Young Ma has an event at the club and she invited us."
"VIP?"
"Yes ma'am."
"Her thot ass said said her body is itching so she's going to stay home."
"I heard that dumb bitch."
"Anywho." She rolled off of me. "We're going at 11, so we can do whatever today."
I nodded and she walked out closing the door behind her. Stretching a bit, I laid back near August and fell asleep for a little longer.
"Baybeh get up and pack your stuff." He shook me in my sleep.
I sighed deeply and got up, leaving out three outfits.
"Whats dat' for?" He asked, while brushing his teeth.
"Right now, Tomorrow and the plane."
"Smart guh."
"We're going out for breakfast so hurry up ." Maleek yelled from outside the door.
A hour later we were out.
"Drinks?"
"Cranberry juice with ice." She took all of our beverages orders and disappeared.
"How do y'all feel?"
"I think i'm having an allergic reaction to something." Arii sighed, looking her skin in her camera.
"It looks blotchy, we'll go to a doctor when we get back."
"Kinda sad, but I miss home."
These last two weeks had been the highlights of my life.
"Everything's moving slow here, but I feel like when we get home, it'll go by fast."
"Ready to order ?" The waitress came back, cutting our conversation short.
"Yes, let me get a steak, egg and cheese burrito with buffalo sauce, jalapeños, salsa and a side of sourcream."
"Do you all have whole grain pancakes?"
"Lord, Ariiyah ready order some bullshit." Chris sighed.
"Yes ma'am."
"Good. Let me have four whole grain chocolate chip pancakes, scrambled eggs, extra cheese, cooked well. Four turkey sausage links and hash browns. Can I add pickles?"
The lady laughed and nodded.
"Ok a side of pickles and strawberry yogurt ."
"Us six will normal and take the waffle platter, two of them banana and the rest plain. Scrambled eggs, bacon and assorted fruit."
"And you sir ?"
"I'a take a breakfast skillet, hold the peppers, extra jalapeños with steak as the meat and a triple stack waffle, plain."
"Thats all?"
"Im so sorry." I said. " May you add a side of fruit, no bananas and that'll complete everything."
"Ok i'll be back shortly."
"MA said the theme is red, black and gold."
"Ready turn up fasho."
We engaged in light conversation before the lady came back.
"Here you all go, enjoy."
"Thank you so much."
August reach over and passed her two fifties.
"I see you runnin' ta' ya car checkin' on your babies. Go do some nice for them."
"Thank you sir." She smiled and tears filled her eyes.
"You're such a sweetheart." I kissed his nose.
"I know how it feel."
We ate in a comfortable silence.
"You all done?"
We nodded and stacked our plates, making it easier for whoever had to clean.
"Your total is $98.22." Tae passed her his card and she walked away.
"How much we tippin'?"
"Whatever the person in front of you throws down, match it."
We ended up in 95 dollars in tips for her. We all came from well established households, so helping someone else was nothing. She passed Tae his card back and I passed her the tip money. She looked at it, as tears streamed down her face.
"Thank you niña." She engulfed me in a hug.
We walked out the building and she followed us going to her car.
"Wait." She yelled as we walked to the car.
She opened her car door and a little boy, who looked no older then seven, jumped out with a little girl.
"Miguel say thank you." He ran to us and I bent down to hug him.
"Thank you for making my mommy happy."
I smiled feeling tears coming as Chris dapped him up.
"You're welcome little one." Tae smiled.
"C'mere little man." He ran and stood in front of August.
"How old are you?"
"Six." He smiled showcasing his missing teeth.
"You're a big boy." Dess smiled, highfiving him.
"Did the tooth fairy come for your teeth?" Imani asked, bending down as well.
"Yes!" He pulled out a bill and smiled. "A whole fove dollars."
"Really?"
"Yes I was sleep in my race car bed and then she bought it."
I was happy to learn they at least had a home to sleep in.
"Tell ya what." August pulled out his wallet. "I'll give you twenty more."
"Thank you sir!" He hugged him.
"Oh my God." Arii put her face in Karter's shirt, sobbing.
"He thinks he's cool, i'll give you a twenty too." Chris laughed as I reached in the back seat retrieving my purse.
"Here." I passed her the check.
"I can't."
"Seriously, It's only $500, you need it more then me."
"God bless you." She hugged me tightly.
"Take care of your mommy and sister, okay ?"
"Ok sir." He smiled, hugging us again. "Say bye Gigi."
The little girl busted into a fit of laughter as we got in the car. We sat there for a while and I broke down crying.
I've never been a flashy girl and I was genuinely humble. I thanked God all the time, because it was time, in everyones life in this car that, that was our living situation.
"Its okay mama." He rubbed my back all the way to our next destination.
"I feel so selfish even spending." I sighed as we walked into the mall.
"You gave them enough money Ry, you're humble. Its okay to spend."
We spent four hours there, before going home.
"Its only 6pm, wake me up at ten." I mumbled walking into the room.
"You ok baybeh?" He asked, laying on my stomach.
"Yes and no, I just hope she's ok"
"I spoke ta' her, she said her husband is in Florida looking for betta' opportunities and she just short on cash right na'. They have a house and the lights on."
I sighed with relief.
"It just took me back to us."
"Yeah, we used ta' sit in my mama car while she worked."
"Even though we didn't have to because my mom said we could stay at my house."
"My mama wanted ta' be a superwoman though, do it on her own and you neva' wanted me to sit alone."
"Moms really are great." I laughed lightly, recalling our childhood.
"They superheros baybeh, they'll get it by any means."
"You have the biggest heart."
"Yours is the purest I've eva' come across, don't ever change."
"I won't papa."
"Go ta' sleep, I'a wake you when it's time."
He pecked my lips and I nodded, feeling my eyes get heavy.
~~~~~~~~~
"Ok bitches get up, it's time to turn up."
I opened my eyes and August was mouth wide slumped.
"Babe, get up you're drooling on me."
I shook him and he wiped his face, becoming aware. We both got dress and walked downstairs, seeing everyone crowding Ariiyah.
"What wrong?" She was crying and the spotting on her skin was getting worst.
"I dunno, I'm really itchy."
"Go take a shower."
Everyone looked at Chris, and I shook my head while removing my heels.
"Ma changed our flight to 10 in the morning, so she can see a doctor."
She took a benadryl and fell asleep.
"Y'all can go, turn up for us."
"You sure?"
"Yeah, go." Karter shooed us away.
"Nah, we'll stay." Imani unlaced her heels.
"Too late, I already ordered the uber and it's outside."
~~~~~~~
"Why would I switch out a dime for a penny?"
I sat in August's lap, chilling while everyone else slightly turned up. You could tell that none of us wanted to be here anymore, but we kept poker faces.
"Drink?" This girl walked up with a tray of shots.
"No thank you." We decided against smoking and drinking tonight.
"You ok baybeh?"
"Kinda just want to go home."
We all sported the same look on our faces. It was one in the morning and we were dry as hell. I ordered a uber and it was five minutes away.
"Y'all ready?"
We all nodded and walked outside, the drive home was silent. Walking into the house, we heard Ariiyah's cries.
"Bro what the fuck."
The splotches on her skin were covering her whole skin, making it look like she had vitiligo.
"Y'all get your shit. Ma booked the flight for a hour from now."
We quickly changed and hopped in the rental. The airport was fairly empty making everything go quicker.
"Flight 36C to Houston." We walked to the gates and boarded the plane.
Karter gave Arii medicine so that she would sleep the whole flight, which was a little under two hours.
"Stop stressin' mama."
It was 4 in the morning when we touched down and we were greeted by my parents.
"Oh my God." Her hand flew over her mouth.
We got our bags and rushed to the hospital.
"What's the cause of this visit?"
"My sister, we don't know whats wrong."
"Details?" She looked at me blandly as my mother came in with Arii in a wheelchair, screaming for a doctor. "Thats her?"
"Yes nigga, hurry." I tapped the desk.
She typed slower and popped her gum. I was about to reach across the desk and fuck her up, when my father pulled me back.
"Bitch, get my daughter a fucking doctor before I flip this shit upside down, and that's on God."
"And you are?"
"Sean fucking Brown." He gritted.
Her mouth hit the floor when she realized who she was talking to. This was my father's hospital, and he ran majority of them in this area. The nurses rushed and took Arii away as my father looked at the woman with pure disgust.
"You'll be gettin' fired."
"Stupid bitch." I mumbled.
We all sat in the waiting room, when all of our families busted in.
"Where is she?" Aliyah, her sister cried.
We had been sitting in the back for two hours before a doctor finally came out.
"Family of Ariiyah Whitaker?"
