You and Dabi stood in front of what looked like a downgraded version of a Safari car. The body nearly consisted of rust alongside a few parts that still contained some chipped off paint. Most of the seats where made of cracked, dry leather. The whole car seemed unstable and as if it would fall apart at any moment. Even Dabi looked doubtful.
"We're supposed to drive with this?", he turned to look at you, his eyebrows arching in doubt.
You chewed your cheek. "This is the only thing that'll take us to the mountains", you mumbled.
Dabi looked over you. Visible in the distance was a large mountain, green from all the lush vegetation that inhabited it. The car stood on the side of an old, tarred road that led up towards the mountain in snake-like curves. Trees and vegetation lined up alongside the road, the sound of birds and wildlife filled your ears.
There were a few other people getting on the small 'Safari car' besides you and Dabi. One of them was a large lady, at least in her late 50's or early 60's. Her hair was white and clearly uncombed as it stuck out in all directions. Her face seemed to be edged into a permanent frown, as she grabbed the support bar of the car with one hand, her other holding a large handbag with a small dog in it. As she lifted herself up, the whole car creaked and shifted down to her side.
Dabi let out an uncomfortable cough. "This is going to be a long ride", he mumbled, taking a step towards the possibly life-threatening vehicle. You sighed, following after him. At least you didn't stand out too much with your hoodie and baseball cap, and Dabi with his sunglasses. The both of you looked like you did crack-cocaine.
You took a seat on one of the small bench-seats, up the third row behind the driver. You looked down at the single bar that prevented you from having completely nothing between you and the open road. Dabi sat down next to you, looking vaguely distressed.
Oh right, you had almost forgotten that Dabi tended to get car sick. Oh god, hangover and car sick. This was not going to end well for either of you. The lady with the small dog took a seat out in front of you, grunting as she tried to fit herself and her handbag between the tight spaces.
The car started, coughing a few times before it buzzed to life like a swarm of angry hornets. Oh god, how were you going to make it to the mountain? Dabi groaned uncomfortably as the car started moving. Luckily for you, the pain medication had started to work, so the hangover was manageable, but it didn't look the same for Dabi.
The wind whooshed past your ears as the car started picking up speed. You leaned into the seat, staring at the trees which sped by in blurred lines, when all of a sudden you felt some pressure against your shoulder.
Dabi had rested his head against your shoulder, taking up the rest of the bench as he laid his legs out. "What...are you doing?", you asked, having to hold onto the small bar in fear of falling out, "get off me, you're going to push me out of the car!".
"Shhh, you're loud. I want to sleep", he mumbled, almost snuggling into your shoulder.
"D-DABI!", you let out a shriek, "get off! I'm going to fall out!".
Dabi turned his head to glare at you. "Y/N, for real, sit still and stop screaming or else I'm actually going to push you out".
You glared at Dabi. "I'm going to drag you with me, and once we crash-land, I'm going to take your severed body parts and beat you with them", you hissed.
The lady in front of you, turned around to stare at you and Dabi in horror, both of you making awkward eye contact with her. "Sorry, its been a while since either of us possessed a body", Dabi mumbled.
The lady's eyes widened, her face falling in sheer terror as she spun back around. You had to bite back a chuckle. Dabi shook softly with laughter, turning back to close his eyes and dose off.
You shook your head. There was no point to arguing with him. You rested your head against the head restraint, thinking about the whole Jason thing. Back at home, you had decided to push the thought aside as you had to get going, but now being able to think about it, an uneasy feeling arose from the pit of your stomach. It wasn't the first time though, ever since you first met up with Jason again, something seemed off.

You let out a groan as you felt a sharp pain in your neck. Opening your eyes it took you a few seconds to figure out what the blurry green streaks passing by were. Looking around, you remembered that you were on your way to the mountain.
You had fallen asleep, and the uncomfortable position of being squished between a metal bar and Dabi had awoken you. Looking down at Dabi, you noticed he himself had drifted into a deep sleep. He looked surprisingly cute and peaceful sleeping like this. You froze. What. Must be the hangover.
The scenery around you had somewhat changed. You could tell that you were higher up now, some trees looking like an ocean of green 1 or 2 kilometres down below you. The sun was now directly above you, so it had to be around midday.
A sudden bump in the road, which had now turned into a dirt road, shook the car, making everyone wake up from their daze. Dabi's eyes flew open, looking around in mild shock and confusion. Looking down at him, your eyes locked. He stared at you for a few seconds, then visibly relaxed as he remembered where he was.
He sat up, rubbing his eyes. "How far are we?", he mumbled, still half asleep. As much as you wanted to deny it, your heart jumped at the innocence it gave him.
"U-Uhm, we should be there in uh, about half an hour", you stuttered. Dabi softly nodded, yawning. You quickly averted your gaze, feeling the heat rise to your face. What was wrong with you?!
Half an hour later, the car rounded a corner, and stopped at a small 'bus-stop'. It was a small open area, with a bench made of wood and surrounded by large trees. "This is were we get off", you mumbled to Dabi.
He sighed, getting up. You followed him off of the car, giving the driver his money in the process. The car tuckered off, leaving you and Dabi in silence, staring at the large bit of hiking that still lay ahead of you.
Dabi looked at you. "So do you know where to go to now?", he mumbled, his eyes strangely searching for something in your face. You chose to ignore his strange look. "Yeah, I do, ... we have the map Jason gave us after all", you mumbled, still feeling uneasy about the map.
"What's with that look?", Dabi asked as the both of you started walking.
You bit your lip, shaking your head. "Nothing. That's just my face".
Dabi scoffed. "Do you take me for stupid? I know for a fact that, that is not 'just your face'", he grumbled, sending you an unwavering stare.
You rolled your eyes. "No, I do not take you for stupid, I take you for beyond idiotic, you've created a new kind of idiocy", you grumbled.
"Y/N, you're forgetting that we're in the middle of the forest. I could kill you and no one would notice a thing, so choose you're words carefully".
"First of all, you couldn't kill me without your quirk, even if you tried, but using your quirk would set the whole forest on fire, which would result in your death as well, and if you try to come at me either way, I will stab you with sticks and throw rocks at your head", you warned, breaking off a twig to emphasize on the 'stabbing with sticks' part.
Dabi sent you a perplexed look, shaking his head. "You've got to be the most chaotic dumbass I've ever met".
"Say that again, and I'm going to kick you somewhere you're not going to enjoy".
"Don't be so uptight Y/N, I'm bitter and complicated. It's one of my charms".
"I don't think you know what that means. Or how to read".
"For your sake I'll pretend you did not just insult my education", he grumbled, "so this lab, ... what's it all about?".
"My step-father had it built for his own scientific researches, to imprison some things, etc, y'know just the usual".
"Step-father?", he questioned, visibly having to put more effort into his steps as the hill grew steeper.
"Yeah", you mumbled, your eyes searching for something specific, "my mom met him a few years after my biological father died. He was alright at first...", you trailed off.
Dabi sent you a questioning look when you didn't continue. You pointed to something a few meters in the distance. "There, we need to go that way", you mumbled walking towards some old cement stairs that were covered in moss and dirt.
The both of you climbed the stairs, finally reaching the end of them to look up to a large building. It had clearly aged drastically, as parts of the walls and roof where missing. There was dirt and random plants growing everywhere.
You walked up to the front stairs, glass and debris crunching under your shoes. Trying to suppress the fear swelling up inside of you, you looked through the door frames that used to contain glass doors.
The inside of the building looked terrible. Tables and burnt papers were scattered everywhere. There was a huge hole in the middle of the roof. Weird encrusted marks that were all to familiar to you, were spread all over the walls and floor. Medical supplies were spread everywhere, some visibly still covered in old dried blood. There was a large surgical table with straps attached to the side, lying, tipped over in the back.
From the side of your eyes you saw Dabi's eyes grow large and his lips slightly part. It took almost all of your strength to keep it together and not just run away.
"Damn...", he mumbled in awe, " you said this place was built to imprison something. What was it?".
You swallowed hard. "...me".
