THIRD PERSON POV
After the award show, the boys skipped the after-party and instead went to start a livestream during which Jungkook annoyed the hell out of Taehyung by interrupting him every time he tried speaking during his individual shot. But well, Jungkook was way too cute for Taehyung to be truly upset at him and he was used to the younger's playful behaviour by now, anyway.
The next few days had been spent with interviews and appearances on TV shows, which they all mostly enjoyed though it proved to be rather tiring. At the moment, they were boarding the plane to get back to Korea.
They had all missed their home country, so it was a relief to go back. Most of them started chattering about what food they would be eating first the instant they land in South Korea.
For Taehyung as well, things were going just fine. In fact, he was mostly relieved to be going back since Haesoo wouldn't be there in Korea. He wouldn't have to get envious over her interactions with the youngest member.
With that thought in mind and a satisfied smile plastered on his lips, he slumped into his seat by the window, waiting for the plane to take off. Some of the boys were still talking about their trip to the US but he had already tuned them out thanks to his earphones which were blaring a song that he used to listen to a lot before but had forgotten all about as time had gone by.
This made him somewhat nostalgic. Actually, that's what this voyage in time made him feel most of the time. Sure enough, it was a stressful deal and a handful to handle properly but there were many moments which were majorly enjoyable and he was glad to be able to experience them again.
Even before the whole thing about Jungkook's wedding, Taehyung had multiple times wished he could go back in time. Not to change anything, but to live some moments again. Moments that had fleeted by so quickly that he never had the chance to really grasp them. Moments that he should have cherished more. Moments whose worth he only realised when they had already gone by. Moments that made his heart swell with happiness.
It was so unreal that he would get the chance to live all of those again. However, you can't get a rainbow without some rain and Taehyung was very well aware of that. He was very well aware that with the joyful moments, he would have to go through the sorrowful ones again as well.
He wondered whether there was anything he could prevent from happening. Any unnecessary incident that caused them great sadness that he could avoid. But then, the thought also occurred to him that changing one thing in the past might change a lot more in the future. What if he ended up aggravating the situation instead of alleviating it?
"So you think it worked?" A voice came from beside Taehyung, startling him a little.
"What worked?" He asked, eyebrows furrowing while trying to get an idea of what his best friend was talking about.
"Keeping Haesoo noona away from Jungkook. Do you see any difference from what it was like in your memories, I mean are they as close as they used to be or does it look like the lack of interaction has had an effect on their closeness?" Jimin enquired, trying to phrase his question in the most coherent way possible.
Taehyung didn't even have to think a lot before replying. The difference was so apparent that it made him smile widely just thinking about it. "It made a huge difference!" He exclaimed.
"Like, for example, right now, Jungkook would've been on his phone texting her all the time but now, he doesn't even have her number 'cause they've not gotten that close enough to exchange numbers and that really says a lot about the effectiveness of this plan! Honestly, I never thought I would ever say this but, Jiminie, you're a genius!"
"Thank you, thank you, I know I am," the shorter male replied proudly, earning a playful punch on his shoulder from his friend.
After landing in Korea after a few long hours of flying, none of the boys went out to eat like they had said they would. Instead all of them headed home to sleep away the jetlag and also to recharge their batteries for the long day that awaited them the following day.
Calling it tiring would be an understatement, the next day was absolute torture! They were all awoken by their manager at 6 o'clock and an hour later, they were already in the practice room, going over everything for the end of year award shows coming up.
Due to their busy schedules in America, they had had less time to prepare for the performances and apparently, no one had realised that they didn't have that much time ahead of them. So they needed to double the amount of work and effort.
That's why by 1 o'clock, all the boys were exhausted already. And yet, they still had so much to do! After having a well-deserved lunch break, they were sitting in the van on their way to check out the outfits for the award shows.
"It's only midday and I'm already dead!" Seokjin exclaimed as they walked into the building.
"Now think about me! I just want to go home and sleep and I even forgot to bring my neck pillow," Yoongi sulked while taking slow steps.
"We know. You've said it over a thousand times since this morning!" Hoseok said which only made Yoongi roll his eyes.
They finally entered the room where all their stylists were displaying the attires, that the boys would have to try on and see whether there are any adjusment to be made, when Taehyung felt someone urgently pulling him to the side.
He looked at the person and saw his shorter best friend standing there with wide eyes. "What's wrong, Jiminie?"
"When you told me that Haesoo-noona comes to Korea to work as our stylist, when exactly is it supposed to happen?" The blonde inquired.
"Hmm..." Taehyung thought carefully, a finger tapping his chin as he did so. "Two or three months after we attend the BBMAs next year. Why are you asking?"
"Holy shit! We attend the BBMAs again next year?! Do we win the award? Do we perform there as well?" Jimin asked, his small eyes even wider than before as he seemed to have forgotten all about his earlier motive.
"I'm not telling you about the award but yeah, we do perform. In fact, we have our first comeback stage there," Taehyung replied. "But anyway, what is it that you wanted to say?"
"Oh yeah right, sorry, I went off track," Jimin said, still trying to process that they were gonna have their first comeback stage there. He shook his head to stop getting distracted and then returned his stern gaze on Taehyung.
"If she's supposed to come here so many months from now, then what is she doing here?!" The shorter male asked. Before Taehyung could ask anything more, he was turned around and what he saw left his mouth hanging open in confusion and disbelief.
A woman with average height and long black hair stood there with a rack of clothes beside her. Her mildly tanned skin seemed to be glowing under the light as her chocolate brown eyes scanned the outfits on the rack, giving them out to the appropriate members.
Taehyung just kept staring for a while, clearly just asking himself what the hell was going on when Jimin turned him back around to face him. "How did this happen?" He asked, mirroring Taehyung's exact thoughts at the moment.
"I... have no idea," the younger one of the two answered. "Do you think we could ask someone without being too suspicious?"
Jimin nodded. "Let's ask one of the managers. I don't think they'll find it weird that we want to know about an unexpected addition to our staff. Let's try keeping it a casual conversation though."
With that in mind, they went to their most talkative manager, the one who usually gave out information without even being asked much about it. On seeing the two boys walking towards him, the man's face brightened as he beckoned them over. "So, boys, what do you think of the outfits?" He asked cheerfully.
"They're great," replied Jimin even though none of them had seen the outfits yet.
"Yeah, they're. I think these will be good to go unless there are things that need to be changed to fit you all," the man said.
Trying to bring up the topic in a casual way, Taehyung said, "isn't that the stylist who attended to us during the AMAs?" He pointed towards Haesoo who was currently dividing the clothes by putting them in 2 different racks, probably one for those which needed to be adjusted and one for those which were fine.
The manager looked in the direction Taehyung was pointing at and nodded. "Yes, yes, she is," he said and none of the two friends had to ask anything for the man to explain further, "I saw her while looking for you at the AMA. She looked korean so I decided to approach her. Turns out she works on hire, depends when she gets lucky enough to be hired as the stylist for celebrities at grand events. I thought it must be hard and since she's great at what she's been doing, I decided to give her an offer to work at our company. She was really thankful to be finally getting a permanent job and also to come back to Korea."
The two nodded in understanding, not really knowing what to say. But then Taehyung realised something the man said in the beginning of his narration and decided to ask about it. "You found her while looking for... me?"
"Yeah, at the AMA," the man replied, totally undoubtful about the sudden questioning. "Remember when you weren't feeling well and Jungkook had taken you out and I was looking for you to talk about the demos you had submitted for the new album?"
Taehyung nodded, frowning slightly. He remembered it very well but what did it have to do with anything?
His question was answered when the man continued, "well, I went to the green room first to look for you there and she was the one who told me you went with Jungkook since you were not feeling well. I had a small chat with her for a while after that."
Neither Jimin nor Taehyung had the time to add anything when their manager was called over by someone else. They both just stood there, almost frozen, as the man walked away. Both seemed to have the very same thought running through their minds.
Upon noticing the very apparent change in Taehyung's expression, Jimin decided to drag him out so that no one would notice and ask about it. "Ji-jimin... is it all because of me?" Taehyung asked once they were out of earshot.
"Is-is it because of what I did that she came here earlier? I'm only messing up things!" Taehyung said in despair while holding his head in his hands.
"No, Tae...I'm sorry, I shouldn't have suggested that you keep them away from each other," Jimin apologised in hopes of making his friend feel better.
But that visibly didn't work as Taehyung shook his head. "It has nothing to do with your suggestion. I shouldn't have gone as far as I did. Now everything's messed up. Instead of buying time for myself, I just speeded up everything and I don't even know what to do anymore!"
Jimin removed Taehyung's hands from his face and embraced him in a tight hug. "It's alright," he said, gently rubbing his back in order to comfort him, "we're gonna find a solution. Everything will end up just fine." He just held the younger boy like that for a while, none of them saying anything afterwards.
Taehyung could only think about one thing. It wasn't the first time he was changing something unknowingly. He remembered how they had met her two days prior and he had not cared about that when he clearly should have. This should have given him an indication that he should not play with the events of the past. This should have been the first indication for him that instead of delaying things, he was only accelerating them.
What had happened might speed up things for Jungkook's wedding and he knew for sure that he didn't want that. He had to do something to keep that from happening because after all, as Jimin had told him, that was his purpose for now, right? He could at least try to correct his mistake, couldn't he?
However, while trying to meddle with things in the past, he had unintentionally altered the future, just like how he had feared. Should he really keep trying to make a change or just go with the flow? What if he ended up doing something that would bring an irrevocable impact on everyone's lives?
