Ahsoka guided the ship farther and farther away from the star destroyer. Just then several tie fighters flew out of the hangar and after them. Ahsoka groaned and tightened her grip on the controls. The fighters began firing at the ship, damaging the deflector shield. Ahsoka grunted as the ship was flung forward.
"For Kriffs sake" she muttered, flying the ship away from the tie fighters.
They were persistent, never missing a chance to tear more of the ship apart. There were only three but that didn't stop them from doing damage. Ahsoka made a sharp turn, hoping to lose them. No such luck.
Two were on her tail and Ahsoka went faster. She pulled a lever and the ship stopped moving. It began to float helplessly, without gravity to pull it to the ground. The pilots in the ties didn't see this coming and flew right past Ahsoka.
Ahsoka took this moment to shoot at them. A plasma charge hit one, causing it to crash into the other. Ahsoka felt a wide grin spread across her face. But there was still one more.
The last one wasn't giving up without a fight, and pushed forward. It was on her tail, not daring to venture in front of Ahsoka. It shot at the ship, making it shake vigorously. There was no time, Ahsoka needed to get Rex help. She didn't have time for this.
Ahsoka put in the coordinates of a nearby planet and pushed the button to jump to hyperspace. Just before the ship jumped to light speed, the tie fighter blasted the hyper drive. The ship shook and then jumped into the illuminated tunnel. Ahsoka gave a sigh or relief and slouched in her chair, the damage to the hyper drive going unnoticed.
She turned the autopilot on and ran back to the medical room. Rex was on a bed, the life support tubes and devices all set up on him. He was alive for now, Ahsoka saw as his chest rose and fell. She walked up to him and intertwined her fingers with his own.
"Stay with me Rex" she begged, "Please"
She let go of his hand, it falling at his side. Then she leaned over and gently kissed his cheek. His skin was cold. Ahsoka jumped back and put a hand to her lips in shock. She wasn't used to it, usually his warm skin was one of the only things that comforted her. Without it Ahsoka shivered and sat down next to the injured clone.
He had to stay alive, Ahsoka couldn't stand to think of a life without him in it. She needed him. This was exactly the reason why she didn't want to get too close to Rex. She didn't want to lose him. It would be terribly lonely, not to mention excruciating without him.
Ahsoka shook off the thought and checked the nearby monitor. Rex's heart rate was steady for a moment, but then began to slowly decrease. His wounds were still unattended, the blood from them spilling over the bed and dripping onto the ground. The amount of blood he was losing could be fatal.
Suddenly Ahsoka had an idea. She remembered back on Kashyyyk where she healed Rex after the Blastails attacked him. Maybe she could do the same for this situation. But last time it drained her, making Ahsoka very weak. When she healed him it was like taking a part of her soul and giving it to Rex. If she gave too much, she could die.
She had to try though. Even if it meant risking her life, she had to try. For Rex. He would do the same for her.
"I hope this works," Ahsoka mumbled, pressing her palm to Rex's chest.
Ahsoka visualized a piece of herself being taken away. She imagined that piece going and healing Rex. Eventually she could feel as Rex's skin was being stitched back together. It was working. She kept focusing and her breathing became uneven.
Suddenly there was the feeling of a pull. A pull at Ahsoka's soul. Ahsoka couldn't stop it and began to feel as she was giving her life to Rex. She could see her core being taken from her own body and put into the clone beside her. No. She had to stop it. If she didn't she would die. She had to stay alive for Rex. Plus she didn't even know if her life would be enough to heal him.
She began to tug at her soul, trying to retrieve it from the claws of death. Goosebumps crawled over her skin and she could feel herself getting weaker by the minute.
"Come on!" she thought, "Come on!"
The pull was getting weaker, Ahsoka could feel it. She visualized it returning to her, again and again trying to save her own life. Finally her life was taken back from the pull and she gasped for breath as she felt her soul return.
She still felt weak and clutched her head, groaning. Ahsoka looked over to see that Rex's heart rate was steady now. She had made his condition better. She sighed and tried to stand, only to topple over again.
She was glad that she could stay alive and help Rex at the same time. She didn't know what would've happened if she didn't get the piece of her life back. Maybe she would have stayed alive and Rex would have been in a better state. Or maybe she would have died and Rex would awake to see her body on the ground.
The sound of a grunt made Ahsoka jump. She looked over to realize it was only Rex. She sucked in a sharp breath of relief and stood up. Now she could see that some of the major cuts on Rex's body were healed. She gave a faint smile, but it quickly vanished. Her strength still wasn't the best, so Ahsoka used the wall to help her get on her feet. Ahsoka held onto the wall as she walked away from Rex. She hesitated, looking over her shoulder and gazing at Rex one last time before exiting the room.
She slowly made her way back to the cockpit, tripping over her own feet every couple steps. Finally she plopped onto the chair and watched the several blue streaks of light in the hyperspace tunnel. It really was a mesmerizing sight. She found herself drawn to the illuminated colors, intensely examining them.
All of the sudden a loud beeping noise broke the silence, followed by the flashing of a red light.
"Can't be good" Ahsoka mumbled frantically looking around for the cause.
She tapped a little screen and her face turned white, the hyper drive was damaged. The ship began to rattle, throwing Ahsoka out of her chair. She groaned, recovering quickly. The lights in the hyperspace tunnel were now flashing uncontrollably.
Ahsoka bit her lip in horror and crashed back on the chair. The ship was hyperspace jumping. Doing such a feat could completely annihilate a ship. She pushed the hyper drive button only to make it worse.
The ship was now jumping to light speed twice as fast, arriving and leaving many star systems. She had to stop the ship, before they flew right into an asteroid, planet, or a fleet of star destroyers.
She took a hold of a lever and forced it backward. The ship began to slowly stop jumping from star systems. Ahsoka felt sick to her stomach and took a deep breath. The ship finally came to a stop in front of a large purple planet.
The planet was strangely familiar and Ahsoka squinted to get a closer look. That's when it hit her, this was Onderon. She was here with her Master all not that long ago. She swallowed hard at the thought of her old master.
The beeping in the ship intensified and several buttons began to flash and flicker. The entire ship leaned forward, pulled in by the planet's gravitational pull.
"Oh No" Ahsoka breathed, beginning to panic.
She tried to start the engine back up, praying Rex and her would make it out alive. The ship was now flying towards the planet. At such a rate, they would definitely crash. They needed to brace for impact.
Ahsoka dashed to the medical room and strapped Rex in tight. She wasn't gonna let him get hurt more than he already was. The ship was going so fast it was now on fire. Ahsoka could feel the heat and she wiped the sweat from her forehead.
Out the small window near Rex, Ahsoka could see that the whole ship was engulfed in flames. She saw that they had just entered the planet's atmosphere, and the familiar surroundings of Onderon came into view. They were getting closer and closer and Ahsoka grabbed Rex's hand and squeezed her eyes shut.
She felt as the ship made impact with the planet, the crash flinging Ahsoka across the room. The ship rumbled and shook and Ahsoka pulled herself to her hands and knees. The ship hit trees and rocks, destroying everything in its path.
Ahsoka hoped they didn't hurt anyone and scrambled back to Rex. This time she laid next to Rex and held onto him for dear life. She wanted to protect not only him, but herself as well. The ship finally came to a screeching stop and all the blaring stopped. The buttons stopped flashing, everything went quiet, and Rex's life support shut off.
Ahsoka needed to get Rex to help. He needed it, and fast.
Ok but I loooovvvvveeeee this chapter! The chemistry! AHHHH! Ohh btw they just crashed on Onderon...Anyone have any ideas as to who they're gonna meet? Also who is your favorite sith???
