"hello?" your shaking and raspy voice sounds through his phone. he is surprised that you called. you and rafe used to be best friends, unfortunately you grew apart from each other around a year ago, when you started to hang out with the pogues.
"y/n? why are you calling me? it is three o'clock in the morning." it's quiet for a couple of seconds, until he hears you breathing. your breathing is loud and irregular. rafe even thinks to hear a couple of sobs in between.
"y/n? what's going on? are you crying?" he asks worried. "there is someone here." you whisper. "what do you mean?" - "there is someone in my house. multiple people, i can hear them." your old friend can hear the fear in your voice.
"where are your parents?" - "they're out of town for the weekend. rafe, i can hear them throwing stuff around. i'm really scared." hearing his name come out of your mouth, gives him goosebumps. even though he never dared to admit it, he really missed you. it always hurt him to see you close with other boys, like pope, john b and jj. it hurts him to see you hug them. he always wishes it were his arms around you and not theirs.
"it's okay, it's okay. are you in your room right now?" a small "yes" leaves your mouth. "okay, go hide in your closet and stay there. i'm on my way right now." - "okay, please stay on the phone with me." you almost beg him as you hide in your closet. "of course angel."
angel. it came out of his mouth without even thinking about it. almost like a automatic thing. it is a nickname, that he gave you when you just became friends.
you hear him say kelce and topper their names. you figured they're probably having a sleepover, like they always had when you were still around.
your heart skips a beat when you hear the footsteps becoming louder. "they're coming upstairs." you quietly cry out. "fuck." you hear rafe say. "i'm driving as fast as i can. please stay with me y/n. okay?"
you hold in your breath as you see shadows moving underneath your closet door. "y/n?" it takes you a couple of seconds to whisper "they're in my room." as quietly as you can. these words make the adrenaline rush through rafe his body.
"it's going to be okay angel. i promise. we're almost there, just a minute away." tears stream down your cheeks as you bite the inside of your cheeks.
right as the boys arrive in front of your house, your scream comes out of his phone. "y/n! what's happening?" rafe yells. the boys look at each other in panic, waiting for your answer, that isn't coming. "fuck, fuck, fuck! lets go."
meanwhile you're being hold down by one of the burglars as the other two are trying to grab everything that seems somewhat valuable. you let out a scream as you feel his hands travel over your body. when one of the other burglars say something, the one who's holding you down loses his attention for you. you quickly grab this opportunity and kick him in his balls.
he falls onto his knees and growls from the pain. "bitch!" he quickly tackles you to the ground and start kicking and punching. you cry it out from the pain and cover your face with your hands.
suddenly the kicking and punching stops and loud noises and screaming fills the room. you curl up and keep your eyes closed, being too scared to open them.
a shock leaves your body as you feel two hands touch you. "it's okay. it's me, rafe." the boys softly says. carefully you move your hands from your face. you look around and see kelce and topper beating up two man as the one who was hurting you, lays knocked out on the floor.
"oh my god, y/n." rafe says worried as he sees the bruises on your arms and face. he quickly embraces you with a careful, but protective hug.
"i'm sorry i called you. i was panicking so much and you were the first contact i thought of." he shakes his head as he pulls you even closer, while you hide your face in his chest. "don't be. i'm glad you called me. i will always be there for you."
"will you please stay with me for tonight?" you ask rafe as the police just left your house with the three, now arrested, man. "i was already planning to stay." he answers as he takes the both of you to your bed. "you know, i really miss you, angel. i really miss us." - "me too rafe. i want you back in my life." you tell him. "i'm here."
the rest of the night you barely slept. but it was okay, because you were save in his arms again.
