Chapter info: When they were little, Fontaine Nekton and Finn Hanson were the best of friends. When she was 13 years old, Fontaine's parents were recruited to be members of a top secret government agency, forcing her to leave her old life behind and forget those she knew completely. Fast forward 8 years, and she's now a full fledged agent on a mission. Her task? To protect the boy who she loved the most. Undercover, while pretending she has no clue who he is.

Fontaine is 21, Finn 23.

Warning! Mature ish chapter. No smut.

~~~~~~
"Agent Nekton please report to the president's office. I repeat, Agent Fontaine Nekton, please report to the president's office." The PA system crackled.
Fontaine Nekton, one of the very best spies in the agency glanced around the room with a smirk on her face. She'd just finished her morning work out, once again beating everyone who practices with her. No wonder the president wanted her.
Stretching, she stood up and tucked her hair bending her ear, them began her trip to the president's office. Her brother Ant caught up with her on the way, huffing and puffing as if he'd just run a marathon.
"Ok woman you need to slow down." Ant whined. "Mom says don't fight with the president this time."
"She's an idiot. She knew I could do it and she sent Alpheus of all people to help me. He's like not even as good as you are!" Fontaine protested.
"Yeah I know. Dad says come train with him after. And anyway, you might be doing this mission on your own." Ant smiled. "Gotta go. I'm training a bunch of rookies."
"Ha, have fun with that." Fontaine laughed. He waved goodbye to his sister and she continued on, finally making it to the office. The president, or miss nowhere as she called herself ("what kind of name is that?" Fontaine had thought,) was not a fun person to deal with. Having a sharp tongue, a air of arrogance that made her think she was better than everyone even though she had never completed a mission successfully and stubbornness that rivalled everyone she had ever met, Fontaine hated the woman severely.
"Miss nowhere. Morning, I heard you wanted me?" Fontaine smiled thinly.
Returning the same barely polite greeting, miss nowhere pulled out a large folder and slammed it down on the desk. "I have a new mission for you."
"Oh, I assume my previous missing was a success then." Fontaine grinned.
"Oh, uh. Well yes, I suppose it was. Anyway, this is the mission folder. Light screen, read me the mission report." Miss nowhere ordered their artificial intelligence.
"Understood." The robotic voice replied. An image popped up in screen of a very familiar man, but Fontaine couldn't pick who he was just yet.
"Mr Hanson is the new president of the United states. Due to this fact, he is now our ultimate boss, and has requested our top agent to complete a mission." Light screen stated.
"Wait so I'm the best?" Fontaine asked.
"According to all your mission reports, statistics and data analysis, it has been proved that you are by far out best agent, save for agent winters, since she died." The intelligence answered.
"And moving on." Fontaine said stiffly, the mention of her best friend in the agency not sitting well on her mind.
"Understood. Returning back to the mission. His son, Finn Hanson, has been sent a threatening message. This message is believed to be from the same person who killed his mother, approximately 3 years ago. The president believes that this person may be an old enemy from childhood, and is in fear of his eldest child's life."
"Finn Hanson?!" Fontaine yelled. Oh hell no, there was no way she was protecting him. Not a chance.
"Stop interrupting!" Miss nowhere yelled.
"Sorry." Fontaine mumbled.
"Due to this fact, we are assigning you the task of protecting him. You will be under the code name of Skylar Woods, and will be enrolled to his college immediately. You will be believed to have transferred from your former college and are now in all his classes. You are required to befriend him, and three agents who are undercover there for emergencies will be ensuring you are his study partner at all times. Your mission will be permanent, until your parents figure out who is responsible for the threat. At no time should you blow your cover. If he figures out, due to your former relationship with him, you are permitted to tell him, because he's the president's son. He'll learn about all of these things eventually." Light screen explained.
"So basically, you decide that knowing you took my family away from him and that life, I should be thrown back into it. While lying to him, and using your top agent as a babysitting service." Fontaine fumed.
"Yes." Miss nowhere smirked. "You're to wear contacts to hide your eye colour. At no time should you break protocol unless he figures out first. Your name from now till the time you leave is Skylar. Under no circumstances is he to know that you are a government agent, unless he finds out. You will do anything necessary to spend as much time with him as possible."
"What are you suggesting by anything?" Fontaine asked.
"I think you know." Miss nowhere smirked. "Your brother will be joining you en route."
"Why?" Fontaine asked, glaring at the awful woman's implications.
"He's going to be looking after Finn's sister, Madeline." Miss nowhere replied. Standing up, Fontaine flipped her the middle finger, rolled her eyes and then headed for the door. "She doesn't like to be called that."
"What?" Miss nowhere blinked.
"Call her Maddy." Fontaine answered. Walking away, she furiously stormed down to the mission prep room. Her mother met her in the way, a slight smirk on her face.
"Hey baby girl, ready for your new mission?" Kaiko smiled at her.
"No, and I really don't want to talk about it." Fontaine said quietly.
"Honey, I know this isn't easy." Kaiko said gently. Her father walked in too, giving his daughter a big hug, all of them knowing the same thing.
Before his parents had been lost on a mission, Will had no idea about the agency. But when they died, Will found out that his parents had promised the agency that in the event they were harmed on mission, their son and his family would join the agency. Not one to go against their final word, Will agreed and as a result had to uproot his family, moving them to a secret location far away from their home.
Kaiko had always assumed her daughter had fallen in love with Finn. They had been virtually inseperable since she was born. The move was a secret, she never got to say goodbye. And now she was being thrown back into his life with no warning. Kaiko knew Fontaine wouldn't like it, and it wasn't going to be easy.
"Ok, well it'll be fine. It's only for as long as you guys take to figure out who's behind this. It's not like he'll know it's me." Fontaine shrugged. Kaiko shot her daughter a knowing look.
"Agents Fontaine and Ant Nekton, please report to the mission prep room."
"I gotta go, I love you both." Fontaine smiled, hugging her parents.
"Fontaine." Her mother called as she turned to leave. "Don't get attached."
Fontaine glared at her mother and walked away, pocketing the warning and her emotions for later. She made her way to the mission prep room, grabbed her gun, and then popped in her contacts. Her once green eyes now brown, she followed he brother to the car they were given and drove to the mission site.
"Ant, be careful ok?" Fontaine said softly. "Here I'm not allowed to know you."
"I'll be ok Fontaine. Here, Mom and Dad did a little research on him to help you out. There's probably everything you need to know about him in here. Also we're living together ok? So you will have me to talk to." Ant answered.
"Sure Ant. I love you ok? Have fun in there. You probably won't have a mission like this again." Fontaine advised.
He nodded and she ruffled his hair, then watched him walk inside of their house. They didn't have moments like that very often. Sighing, she went inside to go to sleep. She had a big day ahead of her tomorrow.m
~~~~~~

The next morning

~~~~~~
Fontaine threw her alarm clock at the wall as it went off the next morning. She got up, ate her breakfast, then roughly braided her hair and did her makeup.
She hadn't slept that night. Leaving Finn was one of the hardest things she ever did. She had never told anyone that just before she left, Finn had told her he liked her. She'd been so embarrassed, she simply sat there like an idiot. Finn had been her first kiss, something she never told her parents. And now she had to go back and lie straight to his face, using him to protect him.
"Oh the irony." Fontaine chuckled dryly.
Ant had already left, she sensed his instructions may have been different to hers. She pulled out the folder her parents had given her before she left and scanned it quickly. She knew most of it already. He was 23. He was 6"5. He loved his family, pirate movies, and snickerdoodle cookies. She knew all of that. But she could also see that he'd changed. News reports about the president's son being caught with yet another fling. He'd gone from sweet and caring to a complete and utter play boy.
Now she understood miss Nowhere's instructions. Fontaine hated dressing like a slut, she much preferred jumpers and jeans to anything else. But now she had a job. Personal preference aside, she got dressed and drove to the college.
When she walked in, she headed to the office, and made contact with the senior agent who gave her a class schedule. Her locker was beside Finn's, her classes were all with Finn, and he was assigned to look after her for the day.
Once that was organised, Fontaine plastered a flirtatious smile on her face, brushed her hair out of her face. She had gotten rid of the pink streak, and hoped that without it and her brown eyes, Finn wouldn't recognise her.
Finn immediately smirked when he saw her walk over. Hot new girl! Score! An she was his locker buddy. This was great. She did look kinda familiar though. Ignoring his gut, Finn offered Fontaine a lopsided grin and leaned against her locker.
"Hey there beautiful. I'm Finn." He grinned.
Fontaine gulped, hoping he couldn't see the flash of recognition, possibly fear and every other emotion that dance across her face. "Nice to meet you Finn." She said softly. "Skylar. Uh, I think you're the guy Mr grumpy pants at the front desk said would meet me, and show me around?"
"Oh, lucky me! I get to show around the hot little lady." Finn smirked. "Follow me, this is my free period."
"Oh, mine too!" Fontaine giggled, dramatically squeezing his biceps. Apparently he liked dumb bimbos. This wasn't her best friend. This wasn't the boy she loved.
Somehow she couldn't help but blame herself.
"So this is the gym, this is the it room, oh and you're studying marine biology right? This is your main classroom." Finn explained. "My little sister goes here too. She majors in that as well. Hey did you want to sit with me at lunch?"
"That would be awesome handsome." Fontaine smiled.
"So how come you're starting half way through the year?" Finn asked.
"Well, I reviewed my work and decided I needed a bit more of a challenge. My uni agreed. And here I am." Fontaine smiled.
"Wow, so you're smart and beautiful." Finn complimented.
Fontaine blushed, but smiled at him nonetheless as they walked to class. Save for the fact she knew the truth, falling back into routine with him was easy.
By lunch Finn had already asked her to a party that evening. She didn't know what to expect as she latched herself onto his arm and followed him to his lunch table, but whatever it was she didn't expect to see Jess, Callum and Rayla sitting there.
Immediately a hateful glare appeared on Jess's face, but whether that was because Jess recognised Fontaine or because he was always taking girls to his table she wasn't sure. The thought made her sick to the stomach, but what could she do? She couldn't break cover, and she didn't want to. Facing them would be the hardest thing since Hailey and Rose died.
"Hey everyone I want you to meet Skylar, she's a new friend." Finn smirked at his friends. Callum rolled his eyes, and Jess ignored her. Fontaine didn't like it but what could she do? Jess didn't know it was her.
"Well don't all jump at once to say hi." Finn rolled his eyes. "Anyway, you all still good for the party tonight?"
"Defo!" Callum cheered. "Rayla and I got the okay to come, can't wait."
"Me either." Fontaine said coyly, running her hands up and down his arm. His eyes darkened slightly and he smirked. Jess huffed at them and pocked at her food, Then got up silently, and pinched Fontaine's leg in an attempt to make her do the same. She quickly smiled at Finn, then got up and followed Jess out of the room and into the bathroom.
"Why are you here?" Jess asked.
Fontaine pretended to be confused, struggling to make sure her eyes didn't widen. "Uh, are you ok?"
"Don't play dumb with me Fontaine! Why the hell are you out there, huh? Why are your eyes brown? Where is your pink streak? Why the hell did you decide to come back, 8 years after you broke his heart and hurt all of us by leaving without a single explanation?" Jess yelled.
She knew?! Fontaine thought.
"How did you know it was me?" Fontaine asked.
"I was your best friend since birth you stupid head." Jess spat. "I'm going back out there to tell him everything."
"No! You can't, you don't understand." Fontaine panicked.
"Why? Scared he'll hate you again? Oh sweetie that happened a long time ago." Jess smirked.
"Listen to me very carefully Jess Matthews. I did not want to leave and I am not here to listen to you tell me my mistakes. It could mean his god damn life. I am here to keep him safe and it depends entirely on him not knowing I'm me.  So go ahead and hate me but keep your mouth shut." Fontaine ordered.
Tears sprung in both of their eyes and Jess hugged the girl. "I'm sorry for being mean to you, I'm so sorry. You have no idea how hurt we all were when you left. You're the reason he's like this. Why are you trying to sleep with him?"
"I don't want to." Fontaine replied looking away. "I know it hurt him. As for leaving, I'm not supposed to tell you this, but let's just say I'm a secret agent. And not by choice."
"You don't want to be?" Jess asked quizzically. "I don't get it."
"He's in danger, Jess. I want to keep him safe an I'm the best at my job. I have to be with him all the time. Especially when he's here. He won't take body guards but a girl hanging off his arm is fine. That's my job." Fontaine answered.
"Can I help?" Jess asked.
"Not really. I gotta stuck with him. Trust me. Please." Fontaine said.
"Okay. I will. When this is over you've gotta explain the whole thing." Jess ordered.
"Deal." Fontaine grinned. "Btw, I'm Skylar."
"Nice to meet you Skylar. C'mon, let's go."
Hand in hand they walked back out to Finn and the others. She may have had an ulterior motive for being so nice, but so did he. Only hers wasn't selfish.
By the time it was 6 o'clock, Fontaine had walked a hole in the floor. She felt dirty for what she knew would likely happen, but the hardest part was staying alert for him being in danger. The girl pulled out her phone and called miss nowhere.
"Agent Nekton, an unexpected call."
"Permission to break cover, for a former friend." Fontaine requested.
"Granted. Why?"
"Jess Matthews, someone very close to Finn recognised me. I want to explain everything to her. She might tell him the truth if I don't."
"Okay. Hang up now."
Fontaine sighed as she hung up, and then applied the last of her mascara. She glanced down at her outfit. She was wearing a dark blue mini skirt, heels, and a black crop top that showed off her stomach. She wasn't totally comfortable with it, but she brushed those concerns away and looked at her little brother, who was sitting on the couch texting someone.
"Bye Ant, love you." Fontaine called.
"Fontaine, please be careful. You don't have to do this." Ant warned.
"I don't think you're quite correct there brother. I'll get drunk and hopefully won't remember a thing." Fontaine answered with a small smile.
Finn pulled up outside her house, an almost guilty feeling on his mind. His father begged him not to leave that night. And he did it anyway just so he could sleep with another girl so that he would forget Fontaine and her stupid face.
Finn still couldn't understand why she left. He told her he loved her. He thought everything was perfect, and then the very next day she was gone. No reason, no explanation, he was heartbroken. When he needed her the most she wasn't there. Glancing up to the front door he noticed Skylar walk out. She wasn't his usual type, but she reminded him of Fontaine without any of the problems that caused.
"Hey beautiful." Finn smirked, kissing her hand as she got into his Ferrari.
"Hey handsome." Fontaine smiled back. He watched her giggle and smile as they drove to Zayne's house, the ultimate party thrower. He was far more interested in the girls but he wouldn't object to free alcohol.
Around 2 hours later, Fontaine was seriously regretting ever agreeing to this mission. She knew based on her training what being spiked meant, and she knew someone had messed with her drink. This normally would slow down a person but Fontaine managed to keep her mind clear. She was however very drunk.
At this point the only people in the party had a partner, and what she'd been dreading since she got here finally happened. The lights dimmed, and she could feel hands on her waist. Glancing up, Fontaine spotted Finn who had strongly darkened eyes, a slight slur to his voice, and as always his famous smile. She loved that smile.
"Did I tell you that you look fucking beautiful tonight?" Finn whispered in her ear.
"Do i?" Fontaine whispered back. His hands were everywhere, pushing the limits of her minimal control and sensibleness.
"Yeah baby you do. And that sweet little ass of yours," he smirked, squeezing it gently, "has got me all hot and bothered."
Her last shred of rationality flew away at that point, as his lips finally connected with hers. Before she knew it, she was upstairs with him, tangled in his arms as he whispered sweet nothingness into her ears, imprinting his body on hers.
His hands, his lips, his scent, he was completely taking over her mind. Forcing her to remember everything that happened, even though she didn't want to, and reminding her that she was sleeping with her best friend.
When she woke up the next morning, Fontaine was both in a state of bliss, and feeling like she was the worst person ever. Savouring the beautiful moment of watching Finn sleep, she quietly got up and walked into the bathroom, wondering how Finn had known to go to this room.
She washed her face, glaring at her reflection in the mirror. She could have kept him waiting, maybe. Was she seflish to do that, risking the consequences? No, miss nowhere said anything. But she couldn't afford to get attached, and now she felt like that was exactly what she was doing.
Her phone buzzed and she picked it up. How did Jess get her number?
"Hey Fontaine, or should I say Skylar? How you doing girl?" Jess asked into the speaker.
"I'm hung over and I feel like a double crossing dirty bitch." Fontaine answered.
"Babe, I don't really understand what is going on but do you wanna meet up? Talk about it maybe?" Jess offered.
"I would love that. I have clearance to explain everything to you. You have no idea how much I missed having my bestie." Fontaine replied greatfully.
"No worries babe. Um, he'll probably wake up soon." Jess said. "I should probably let you go. I'll meet you in 3 hours. At little fox lane, Google it.'
"Okay Jess. Thanks." Fontaine smiled.
"Love you girl." Jess then hung up and sighed. Something told her that for all the mistakes Fontaine made, she got ripped off way more than her share.
Meanwhile in the bedroom, Fontaine was about to have a shower when Finn sauntered into the the bathroom. "Hey there beautiful, I thought you'd gone and left me alone."
"Oh, Finn! No, I uh, I needed a shower. I gotta meet up with a friend." Fontaine said, wrapping herself in a towel.
"Why you covering up baby? You're beautiful, and it's nothing I haven't seen before." Finn said, walking over. Pushing her against the cold bathroom tiles, Fontaine shivered as he leaned in and his warm breath caused the hairs on her neck to stand up.
At this point, what he saw wasn't necessarily the problem. On her stomach she had a big scar, one he'd accidentally given her when they were playing one time. She knew he might recognise it and thus hid, because she had a job to do.
"F-finn, I, uh, I'm meeting a friend." Fontaine mumbled, hating the way her body immediately betrayed her.
"Hmmmm." Finn hummed, ignoring the comment but kissing gently up her neck. "You know, I think I left some pretty good looking marks on you."
"W-what?" Fontaine gasped. Why was he being like this, right now?
"Yeah Skylar baby, and I think you did the same to me." Again, his words were soft, teasing, sensual. "But, that's ok. I like it anyway."
Finally he kissed her again, Fontaine didn't know she'd been waiting for it, and a moan escaped her as he dominated her mouth. She didn't know kissing someone could feel so damn good. Gently, he pulled her body away from the wall, and tried to pull her towel away.
"What's wrong baby?" Finn asked, kissing up her neck again.
"I j-just need a shower." Fontaine stuttered, her belly in knots.
"Okay then." Finn smirked, pulling her into it. He switched it on and finally yanked the towel away, wrapping his arms around her just so that he could kiss her again.
"You know, usually girls are still asleep when I leave." Finn smirked, rubbing gentle circles on her thighs. "Not you, up and you already have plans."
"I-is that a g-good thing?" Fontaine moaned.
Finn pressed another kiss to her neck and nodded. "Oh yes Skylar baby, it is. I'm not one to do it again, but I want you to go out with me."
Her eyes fluttered open in suprise. "I f-feel like we're doing this the wrong way around."
"Maybe Sky but I really like you." Finn replied, pulling her closer to his body.
Then he leaned in again and kissed her, loving the feeling of her lips, needing more. Neither of them knew how long they'd been there, Fontaine lost track of time as her body caved to every demand his made.
"Well then sky, is that a yes?" Finn asked.
"Y-yeah, I'd like that Finn." Fontaine blushed. He quickly kissed her again and then let go, almost making her whimper at the loss of his touch.
"Okay Skylar. You gave me your number last night, so I'll text you the details. See you at class on Monday." Finn finally offered her his stunning smile, an with one chaste kiss to her temple, he left, leaving a confused girl in his wake.
She didn't want it to happen again, everything had gone exactly according to plan. Except Fontaine had felt so weak, so vulnerable from his touch. Her mother warned her not to get attached, but at that moment she was so happy he didn't know who she was. Now if only he'd stop calling her fucking Skylar.
After finally finishing her shower and getting changed into a spare outfit she'd had the forethought to pack, Fontaine jumped on her motorbike and rode down to the cafe. Fontaine could see Jess inside, so she got up and walked inside, her contacts no longer in her eyes. What's the point in wearing something uncomfortable if she already knew?
"Hey Jess." Fontaine smiled, walking over.
"Hey girl. You look exhausted." Jess smirked, watching Fontaine yawn and rub her eyes.
Image of the night before flooded her mind, and Fontaine blushed. "Yeah, I don't really wanna revisit that one."
"Okay. Well you said you could explain things to me? I don't wanna seem pushy I'm just really curious." Jess said, offering her a menu.
"Ok, well I guess I might as well start from the beginning. Did Finn ever tell you that we kissed a few days before I left?" She asked.
Jess shook her head. "No but we all assumed he liked you. I mean he only ever looked at you."
Fontaine looked away. Talking to Jess was the right call, but with Finn calling her Skylar and the memory of how close they'd been, Fontaine kinda felt awful. "Yeah I remember you saying that. Well, one day after that, my grandparents were killed on assignment. And because they weren't retired when they died, they wrote in an agreement that my family would join this agency in their place."
"God damn that's some heavy shit. Could you say no?" Jess asked.
"Yes, but Dad didn't want to. He was really close to his parents, and he couldn't deny the last thing they asked of him. We had 2 days to pack and we were transferred to the agency." Fontaine began.
"Damn. Are you allowed to leave?" Jess enquired.
"Yes but I've never really thought about it. I was so mad at dad when we left. The agency ripped us away from everything we'd known, including any contact with you guys. I was banned from even trying to get in touch with you and by the time they were gonna let me, I knew it was too late. I trained with Ant, me and him are the top agents in the entire place, and so I was assigned to protect Finn." Fontaine answered.
"Wow. Did you have friends there?" Jess asked, hoping Fontaine hadn't been alone the entire time.
"One. Her name was Hailey and she had a little girl named Rose. But they were both eliminated during a mission." Fontaine said looking away.
"I'm sorry Sky." Jess sighed hugging her friend.
"Not your fault. Anyway. Remember when his Mom died? The same guys are after him. We don't know who that is but we're trying to protect him. That's why I'm here as Skylar." Fontaine explained.
"But aren't you worried about that?" Jess asked.
"Kinda. Why?" Fontaine asked back.
"Fontaine you two were attached at the hip for your entire lives. Surely you don't expect to come back here, sleep with him and keep things no strings attached?"
"I kinda did, to be honest. Until he asked me to date him. I can't say no. But I'm scared of what it's going to do to me. He's moved on but I'm starting to think I haven't." Fontaine said quietly.
"Babe, I know we haven't seen each other in a while but I hope you know that I'm here for you if you need it." Jess smiled. "Seriously haven't you thought of leaving? What's the chance of you explaining this to Finn, and retiring or something? You could do a actual college, you could leave that life behind."
"It's possible of course but difficult. I would have the chance of seeing my family but I've already done every kind of college course. I am a doctor, nurse, lawyer, marine biologist, teacher, you name it. They teach us over six weeks with electric shocks to make sure we remember everything so we can disguise as anything. Besides, I don't think Finn would forgive me." Fontaine replied.
"Maybe he won't. But maybe he will! Fontaine you can't live like this. I mean you look miserable." Jess protested.
"I would love to leave Jess. Believe me, I hate working there. And I could, easily. I've been paid my entire life, it's more money than most people make in 50 years. I just don't know what I'd leave to. I don't think Ant would go.  I can't count on myself evn telling Finn, let alone what he'd do." Fontaine sighed.
"You could come to me. What's the point in doing something with your life if you're not happy? Finn aside, I know you could do it Sky." Jess said gently. "I'd be here for you."
"Thank you Jess. I really appreciate it."
Monday
~~~~~~

Finn woke up with a spring in his step that morning. His dad was finally not mad at him, Maddy was suspiciously happy (we all know why) and he had a girlfriend! This was the happiest he'd been in a very long time.

He got dressed and then jumped into his car, speeding his way to his destination and heading inside.

"Well someone looks awfully happy." Callum grinned as Finn danced inside.

"I got a date tomorrow." Finn grinned.

"Enjoy that." Callum rolled his eyes. "New girl every week."

"Actually it's the same girl from last week." Finn smirked, spotting said girl walking over with Jess. "Morning Sky, I didn't know you two knew each other." Finn said, slipping over and putting his arm around her waist.

"Yeah. I actually really like her. Treat her good Finn." Jess said in a threatening tone.

"Yes ma'am!" Finn joked. "I promise I will. I really like this girl and i intended to be a model boyfriend. Besides how could anyone not treat someone this beautiful good?"

Jess smirked, Fontaine blushed and Rayla and Callum looked like they had died and come back to life. "You've got a girlfriend?" Rayla gaped, in an accent Fontaine still couldn't quite name.

"Yep. Skylar this is my friend Rayla and her boyfriend Callum, guys this is Skylar my girlfriend." Finn introduced them.

For good measure (or so she told herself) Fontaine leaned into Finn a bit more as her former friends gaped at them. "Well, this is so rare I need a lotto ticket. Uh, nice to meet you Skylar. You know, you remind me of someone." Callum said thoughtfully.

Fontaine gulped, glad she'd put her brown contacts in and had used concealer to lighten her skin all over. She'd even uncovered her rose tattoo, hoping that none of them would suddenly realise who she was.

"Cal, have you had a coffee this morning?" Jess laughed awkwardly. "That's not true. Anyway, that assignment on Psychology I'm supposed to give in is impossible. Anyone feel like helping?"

"I'll help." Fontaine offered.

"Oh baby you should not get yourself into these things. You've gotta have a death wish." Finn groaned.

Thankfully the bell rung and the group went their separate ways. Finn and Fontaine both headed to their classroom. And suprise suprise had a project together.

Later that day, Fontaine had a sickening feeling that someone was watching them. And not some random girl who was jealous. She knew something was wrong. She got up to go to the bathroom, and instantly several hands grabbed her at once. So predictable.

With a light laugh, Fontaine elbowed one of them as hard as the could, and a crack confirmed that she'd broken someone's nose. The other's were easy too, until one of them pulled a knife. She pulled her gun and held it to his head.

"It seems we've reached an impasse." Fontaine smirked. "Get your buddies out of here, and let your boss know that I'm here to keep him safe."

"As always he's got a protector. Maybe you should let your boss know that a girl may prevail for now but later that will end." The masked guy replied. He dragged his friends out, and Fontaine straightened her outfit before heading back out to Finn.

"Did you wanna study at mine tonight?" Fontaine asked Finn later on that day. He gently squeezed her hand and smiled. "I'd like that. Can't believe we're project partners."

"Hmmmm well it's pretty awesome i agree." Fontaine smiled, pecking his lips quickly.

"Sounds good baby." Finn agreed. "But if we're going on our date tonight we probably have to study later."

"Oh, right. Maybe next week." Fontaine smiled.

"Great idea baby." Finn smiled back.

"I don't really like that nickname." Fontaine told him while they headed to the next class.

"What do you prefer then?" Finn teased, his hands sitting on her waist.

"Um I'm not sure." Fontaine blushed, feeling her mind fuzz again.

"Hmmmm. Maybe I'll just call you Skylar until I think of a good one." Finn smiled. "Alright, I'll see you at four. Love you Sky."

"L-love you too." Fontaine blushed, kicking herself internally. 'I'm supposed to be just acting,' she thought. 'so why do I like him saying that so much?'

So far, dating Finn had been endless flowers, giggles, and sweet kisses. Fontaine could see old Finn coming through something that she assumed would be impossible, especially towards her.

"Finn stop! That tickles, please stop." Fontaine laughed as Finn's relentless hands attacked her sides.

"I thought you weren't ticklish?" Finn smirked.

"I am I am! Please just stop." Fontaine begged.

"Okay angel." Finn agreed. Fontaine stopped dead. He hadn't called her that in years. Well he'd never called her that. He'd called Fontaine that all the time.

"Hey I gotta go, I'm so sorry Sky. Dad scheduled a security crew for me that I need to meet. I'll be back at four for our project ok?" Finn smiled, giving her a hug. "I love you."

"I love you too Finn." Fontaine smiled back. "I have a class to get to. Save me some butterfingers please? Oh, and I'll leave the backdoor unlocked, come in when you want to."

"Deal. See ya Sky." Finn waved, walking down the hall. She hated that name. God she would love to shoot anyone with that stupid name.

"Well, he seems happy." Jess commented, walking up to her as Fontaine watched him leave.

"Maybe." Fontaine smiled.

"He does love you. I can see you love him back. Skylar." Jess smirked.

"He doesn't love me. He loves Skylar. And to be honest as nice as it is living in a bubble of ignorant bliss, I won't really get anywhere until he sees me as me. Not some stupid girl he slept with." Fontaine replied.

"Okay Skylar." Jess sighed. "C'mon, let's get to class."

They walked off together, and Callum and Rayla both greeted her with smiles as the professor walked into the classroom. Classes without Finn were boring, to say the least.

At the end of the day, Fontaine had gotten fed up with people calling her by her fake name. Pulling off her helmet, she immediately sensed someone around her again, and made a mental note to keep a close eye on whoever that was.

She didn't pay attention to the Time or the unusual banging she kept hearing. "Hey, if it isn't my favourite sky!"

"Oh my god Ant please don't call me that! If one more person calls me Skylar I'm going to shoot them, see if I don't." Fontaine fumed, removing her contacts and slamming them on the bench.

"Why? Doesn't Finn call you Skylar?" Ant asked. "It's your cover name Fontaine. You gotta get over it."

"You don't get it! He doesn't mean me when he says Skylar. He means Skylar. And all that is, is an undercover persona. I wish he'd see me and love me as the person I am, not some stupid name. Because I'm sitting here watching the clock tick down before I have to leave again. And break his heart all over again. You think I wanna do that, knowing full well that Skylar could have prevented it the entire time?" Fontaine yelled.

"Uh, Fontaine, calm down you've got a- "

"Ant please stop, I love you but you're not making this better." Fontaine huffed, spinning to face him. Or should it be, them?

"Finn?" Fontaine gaped. She wasn't wearing her contacts! Shit shit shit!

"Fontaine? Oh my god, I should have fucking listened to my gut." Finn hissed, throwing papers half way across the room.

"Why are you here?" Fontaine asked brokenly.

"We had a project. Maybe the better question is why you lied to me, why you're even here, and why you once again used my feelings and obliterated them again without a second thought?" Finn screamed. He turned on his heel and stormed outside, and Fontaine realised that someone was still out there waiting for him. Someone had been following her all day.

Ant grabbed his sisters hand as she ran after him. "Be careful."

"I will. Don't bother us. Please." Fontaine said.

"Finn! Finn stop please, just stop for a second." Fontaine yelled as he stormed away.

"Why should I?" Finn scoffed, as she finally reached him. She grabbed his arm as he turned to jump in his car, feeling pairs of eyes on her back again.

"Finn I'm begging you, please. You're in danger and I'm trying to protect you." Fontaine pleaded.

"Maybe the person you should be protecting me from is you." Finn spat. He yanked his arm away and got into his car, speeding away and leaving a broken girl behind him.

How could she do that to him? What did he do to make her hate him so much, she'd willing choose to lie to him just so she could break his heart all over again? Skylar was the only food thing about his life and once again it was gone. Good excuse being in danger. He's the president's son. Of course he's in danger. What could she do, lie them to smithereens?

Immediately, Fontaine panicked even more. He could hate her all he wanted, but Fontaine was not going to let him die on her watch. Based on the cars now tailing him, that wasn't going to be easy.

Jumping on her bike, Fontaine checked for her spare gun and then sped after them. Finding Finn was easy. Saving him, not so much. She could see them smash into the back of his car. See them pull him out. See them drag him into the conveniently placed abandoned warehouse.

Gulping, she rushed in after them, choosing to stay hidden and eliminate her opponents one at a time. The masked men dragged him into the room, where a dimly lit lamp hung from the ceiling.

"Well well well. If it isn't Finn. The first mission she has ever failed, who would have thought Fontaine could do that?" A familiar voice cackled.

'Miss nowhere?' Fontaine thought incredulously. 'I should've guessed.'

"Who the hell are you and how do you know Fontaine?" Finn yelled, struggling to break free.

"I am Carolina. I was your father's best friend when we were kids." Miss nowhere said.

"So? Why the hell are these idiots holding me down?" Finn demanded.

"Oh relax! Allow me to explain. You're gonna die anyway. Now, to answer your furst question, I know Fontaine because she works for me." Miss nowhere smirked.

"Oh great, she not only lied but she also wants to murder me, good to know." Finn scoffed.

"Foolish boy. Do you honestly believe that? She loves you so much it sickens me. Now, she works for my agency. You truly think she left you to hurt ya? News flash you self absorbed ass, she left because her parents decided to, and she was a minor. She was sent ere to protect you, but looks like she failed hmmm?"

"I don't understand." Finn frowned.

"Simply put, I am in charge of a secret government agency, and I loved your father when we were going. But he chose your mother. I tried to look past it, but that night a few years ago. I snapped. I couldn't help but put a bullet through the bitches head." Carolina smirked.

"You fucking psycho! How could you?!" Finn screamed, tears sprouting from his eyes. Fontaine pulled out her phone, sending an emergency signal for backup while she watched Finn.

"I only want to help your daddy! He'll be happier once anything that reminds him of her is gone."

"I don't understand what Fontaine had to do with this. Did she know?" Finn asked. Her heart hurt, how could he think that?

"My god you are dumb." Carolina rolled her eyes. "I've never met someone so devoted to one person! She would never betray you, one thing I do admire her for."

Fontaine smiled a little as around 30 agents stormed in behind her. She held up her hand, signalling them to be quiet, and then stood up, aiming her gun at the woman.

"Wow. I always wondered what your real name was. I'm not surprised you go by nowhere." Fontaine smirked.

"I wouldn't try me Fontaine. I've got the man power here." Nowhere scoffed. Finn gaped at his girlfriend (I didn't hear a break up), where did she come from?

"How did you find me?" Finn asked.

"Kinda my job pirate boy. To keep you safe." Fontaine smiled. She waved her hands and the entre team, including her brother and parents swarmed the room.

"Carolina nowhere you are under arrest for murder and secondary murder attempt. Anything you say can and will be used against you. You have the right to remain silent." Fontaine said, cuffing the woman.

"How dare you do this to me?" Nowhere screamed. Fontaine nodded to the others, who dragged the woman to a waiting car. She then turned and offered Finn her hand, pulling him off the floor as he simply watched in shock.

"That was badass!" Finn whooped, picking her up and spinning her around, monetarily forgetting he was mad at her. Fontaine's eyes lit up as he did so, and she caught her mother's teasing stare as the rest of her family walked outside.

"I'm glad you're safe." Fontaine told him as he lowered her.

"I'm glad I'm safe too!" Finn grinned. "But you have a lot of explaining to do angel."

"I'm glad you called me that." Fontaine said honestly. "And I'm sorry I lied to you. It was my job, I was forced to. I never wanted to."

"I get it. I'm sorry for overreacting. I was so hurt when you left. You hadn't even told me you liked me back and the next thing I know you're gone. For good." Finn whispered.

"Hey Finn."

"Yes, angel?" Finn smiled, hands sitting softly on her waist.

"I like you too." Fontaine whispered. He smiled happily and kissed her, unspoken words resounding in his eyes. Gently they gripped onto each other, desperately needing the moment for themselves.

"Fontaine, I'm glad it's you. I love you." Finn whispered in her ear.

"I love you too pirate boy." Fontaine whispered back. Because now everything was perfect. For realsies this time.

Present day:

~~~~~~
"Mommy did that really happen?" Jasmine yawned, glancing up at her mother from the comfortable spot on her father's lap.
"Yeah Mommy, it seems so awesome!" Alex yawned too.
"Well baby, it did happen. That's how we met, and why you are here now." Fontaine smiled, stroking her daughter's hair. "Right pirate boy?"
"That's right angel. Alright you two. It is way past your bedtime. Off to sleep with you." Finn said softly, tucking his son in.
"We love you both." Fontaine called, as they fell asleep.
"Damn, we had to make that PG." Finn laughed quietly.
"Oh shut up you." Fontaine smiled back, brushing hair from his eyes. "They're beautiful."
"Just like their Mommy." Finn smiled, kissing her neck gently.
"Finn." Fontaine warned. "Not in front of our children. They're only 5 and 7."
Scooping his wife up, he carried her to their room and dropped her onto their bed. "Here?"
"Hmmmm, I won't complain." Fontaine giggled as he kissed her.
"Angel?"
"Y-yeah?"
"I love you."
"I love you too, pirate boy."
