the morning before the address, marwen had been on edge. she was hyper vigilant, whipping her head at the slightest of movement. padme had noticed.
"you should really relax." she leaned towards her friend. they were walking through a tunnel system and headed towards the capital's assembly hall. the group was being escorted by the royal council.
"i'll relax when it's over." marwen responded. padme only rolled her eyes and quickened her pace to catch up with the queen. as the girl fell back, the fretted expression returned.
"is she alright?" anakin asked this time. marwen glanced over at him, continuing her stride. "she hides it well, i can tell she's worried."
"you care for her." marwen commented more than asked. anakin was taken by surprise, watching the girl to gauge her demeanor. marwen was unbothered, and unsurprised.
"i do." anakin confirmed with a stoic nod.
"then watch her today." she added. this time, anakin looked worried. "i fear padme's in danger."
"how do you know?" he asked in a low voice. marwen shrugged.
"i don't." she shook her head. "i just have a bad feeling." anakin fell quiet.
"is that why you were awake last night?" he questioned. marwen wanted nod, but wasn't sure how to explain it. anakin took her silence as confirmation. "when you say you have a bad feeling, do you mean you saw it? have you ever seen it?" he pressed. marwen grew agitated, not wanting to go into specifics for something insignificant when the true problem was right in front of them.
"i trust my intuition. just watch her." she sighed. with that, she quickened her pace to regain her stride next to her friend.
