I admit I was jealous, but it's not just about jealousy. Just thinking about someone else in Mew's life even in the past makes me uneasy. Mew is a private person, he just doesn't let anyone enter his life that easily. The fact that Jeremy has a big chunk of his personal life and that he came back with no difficulties getting in again tugs at my chest.
Mew moved behind me. We were spooning, Mew hugged me from behind. He embraced me tighter, he sniffed the back of my head. I placed my hand over his and squeezed it gently. It's still so early, the wall clock says 7 am. "Sleep more Gulf, it's Sunday." He said.
---------------------------
I am frozen in the middle of Mew's closet, looking at the four corners of the room trying to figure out what drawer to open. Mew is still in the shower. My mind can't grasp how he can spend this much just to store clothes. Even I who grew up with a silver spoon can't fathom how a guy can be too picky on his clothing.
The door behind me opened and Mew entered drying his hair with a towel. "The shirts are in drawers #10-20 on your left, the briefs in the corner drawers #3-5, boxers beside the briefs, that's #6-9, shorts or sweatpants in the bigger closet #22-23 in front of you or if you want long pants that's on #30, it's on your right. Or you can use this remote if you can't remember all of it." He handed me a remote, it has labels in it.
I looked at Mew incredulously. He just smiles at me mischievously. He went in the middle of the room where a two seater couch is located and sat with just his towel draped on his waist.
"Now you're just bragging." I said.
"I'm not bragging," He said. "I'm just messing with my boyfriend. My clothes just occupy the drawers in front of you, the rest of the drawers are actually shoe racks" He said.
Huh? "I don't get it," I said.
"I don't splurge that much on clothes Gulf, but I love footwear, that's what I collect."
I walked and opened the drawers. Gucci, LV, Testoni, Bolvaint, all the loafers arranged together. I opened another one, high end Nike collection mostly Jordan's are properly organized. I attempted to open another one but Mew stopped me.
"Gulf, if you don't want me to ravish you please get dressed first? You're distracting me." He said looking at me with hungry eyes and already dressed himself. If I wasn't that tired from last night, I would have done something about it. But it turns out, sex marathons are so tiring. I need to recup.
I went to the drawers he opened and randomly selected a shirt, boxers and sweats and got dressed. "How about chucks Mew? Do you have them? Or are they so cheap for your taste?" I asked.
Mew replied. "They're in the opposite side, from top to bottom with different colors."
I went and checked and is blown away. All colors, all designs are all properly lined up and cared for as well. "Do you even wear these?"
"Of course." He said.
Just then I hear my phone ring from the couch. Mew checked it. "Brandon?" He looked at me, "Why will Brandon call you?"
"I don't know Mew. Let me check." I said then got the phone from him.
I answer. "Hello."
"Hi, Gulf." Brandon said.
"What's up man?" I said thinking about why he will call.
"Can we meet?" He said.
"Huh? All good?" I asked curious.
"Ummm. I guess. I don't know. I have to tell you something." He said sounding strange.
"Okay. But I can't really see you today though. I'm at Mew's house." I said then I looked at Mew. His brow is raised as if asking what's the matter.
" I see. How about tomorrow then?" Brandon insisted.
"Okay, that's fine with me." I said nodding on the phone.
"Great. See you then." Then he ended the call.
I went to Mew and looped my arms around him. "Brandon wants to meet tomorrow." I said.
"Why?" He asked.
"Beats me." I said preoccupied with sniffing his neck.
-------------------------------
Sunday is spent in the most laidback manner. We just lounged by the pool, grilled some barbecue and had some beer. Mew and I also played with his musical instruments.
"This doesn't look easy to me Mew. I have no idea what you're teaching me," I said while Mew is trying to place my fingers in the frets of the guitar.
"Can you just loosen your fingers first and relax please? These are the easiest notes to learn, C, G and D major." Mew said patiently.
"I changed my mind. I'd like to learn piano." I said just checking when Mew finally snaps with my whininess.
"Ahhh, piano is also easy to learn." He said moving to the piano. I followed and sat myself in the stool beside him. "It's very basic. I'll teach you the same notes. But first you have to learn what the ivory and ebony tiles represent. So-----" I interrupted.
"Is there a musical instrument where I wouldn't need to learn all these?" I asked while pressing some tiles randomly with my index fingers.
I feel Mew looking at me, then he sighed deep. "You can try the drums if you just want to vent out your frustrations."
I stood up and sat myself on the stool in front of the drums. I got the sticks and started hitting on the drums and cymbals in front of me. "Okay I'm ready Mew." I said looking at Mew suppressing my smile.
He has his arms crossed on his chest, "Stop hitting the drums so I can teach you the different parts and the different type of grips first."
"Huh? Can we just jump to the part where I start hitting all these?" Then I demostrated what I meant by hitting them again.
Mew just stared me down and he started to tap his foot from where he is standing, getting impatient.
"Aha!" I stood up and started to get the saxophone placed on a corner atop a plush rug. "I've been wondering about this."
"Stooop," Mew said panicking. "Not that! That's special."
"Really? You mean like expensive special?" I asked.
"I mean like my granny left me that before she died special." Oh, I put the saxophone down carefully.
Then Mew's phone distracted us.
Ring. Ring.
Mew went to get it. He looked at the screen, then paused. Then he looked at me when he answered the phone.
"Jer." He said.
I crossed my arms. A minute of Mew's silence. Then he speaks.
"Hmmm. Listening. Go ahead." Mew said never leaving my gaze.
I stared back not hiding my animosity towards Jeremy.
"Tomorrow." Mew said.
Mew has limited his words to just nodding and some uhhhs and hmmms. I have never liked this version of Mew, the Mew with secrets or keeping quiet. It always makes me uneasy. It's either he doesn't trust me enough or he thinks I won't be able to understand, either way is unacceptable to me because as far as I know, I have been trying my best too.
I uncrossed my arms and went to the living room to give him some privacy. Whatever Mew.
Jeremy is part of Mew's past and probably now the present too. I am torn about accepting this or making an ultimatum. Mew has always been upfront about his feelings, his actions has always been reassuring. Surely if I tell him not to talk to Jeremy, he will agree. But on what grounds? Mew has never done anything that can make me doubt him. In fact, between the two of us, it's me who has hung ups. At the same time, I feel that even when Mew doesn't fail to show me his sincerity, he has always been reserved and only takes action when he knows I will accept it. I find that respectful but at the same time, not enough.
"Hey." Mew said behind me looping his arms around my waist. I am looking at the city lights. I looked at his hands and placed mine atop them.
"Tomorrow's Monday." I said, not wanting to ask about the phone call.
"Yeah." He said then he kissed the side of my forehead. "Jer wants to see me tomorrow too."
"I see." I said, squeezing his hands.
