"So welcome back to school." Ashton greets me in the morning at the bus stop. The night of the party, I ended up finding Derrick and Samantha hooking up, in Ashton's room might I add, and it was horrible. I went home and took some weed from Calum, who ended up finding me high when he got back. He didn't tattle on me, luckily. But I owe him money for that blunt he says. Whatever.
"Not at school yet, but thanks." I tell him, taking the lead on the bus and sitting in the front, like him and I did every morning. Calum, who was behind us, goes all the way to the back of the empty bus as he did every morning. We are the first stop, Ashton just walks to our stop because he doesn't want to be surrounded by Jerseys at his stop. He lives on a somewhat main road, so a lot of people go to his stop.
"Well what do you think people are gonna be talking about when we get back?" He asks, looking up from his phone briefly to ask me. I think I remember him telling me at the party at some point he's been texting this girl, but I don't really remember her name.
"Maybe your party. More people showed up then you expected, some Jerseys even came right?" I mumble, not wwanting to think of a certain Jersey.
"Yeah, Calum came, Luke, Noah, Derrick, and they brought some girls I'm pretty sure." He says, locking his phone as we reach the next bus stop.
"I know she was there Ash, I saw her. You can say her name, I'm not gonna cry or something. I don't think you could've counted her as even a friend, we can't be friends because she's with Derrick and he'd kill me for talking to her." I say.
"Well, you might not be able to talk to her, but you could text her maybe? Or, you have some classes together, pass notes or something. He can't stop you from doing that." Ashton shrugs, giving me advice.
"I don't know, maybe I'll try it out." I shrug as we pull up to another bus stop, going silent because it's Derricks stop.
"Hey, you." Derrick says from the seat behind me, poking the back of my neck to gain my attention. I let out a 'hmm?' as I rub the back of my neck.
"Could you maybe talk to Alli for me? Or like, distract her or some shit? I have to set up a party at her place, since it's her birthday and all." He asks me. Oh, lets be a great boyfriend on her birthday, but two days earlier, Christmas Eve to be exact, let's cheat on her with the same slut that ruined your relationship in the first place.
"But I thought I wasn't allowed to talk to her, or go near her?" I end up asking, scrunching my eyebrows.
"If I ask you to do something for me, you probably should just say yes and not point out my past statements. Whatever, I thought that since you wanted her to be your friend you'd do it, but I can just get Cal to do it." He says.
"No, I'll do it I was just confused. But I got it now, distract her after school. Seems like a plan." I nod, quick to accept this. If I can talk to her, I don't know but if I can talk to her, maybe she'll talk to Derrick and let him let us be friends. It's a start atleast.
"No funny business or I will personally kill you myself. I swear if you mess up my relationship with Alli a Jersey won't be the only thing you wish you had." He threatens, and I nod swallowing hard as I turn around. I can't help but want to say that he already screwed up his relationship with Allison. It's only a matter of time until she finds out.

"I hate people." I groan after the fiftieth person to wish me a happy birthday walks by. I have the burden of being born on January 3rd, right after New Years and the holidays. I just don't like it because this means theres usually snow outside, so obviously no pool parties. And it's too early in the year, I'd rather be born in July or something. Plus everyone remembers it, I know Derrick texted basically everyone in the school to wish me a happy birthday because he accidently texted me it too.
"But you love me, right?" Derrick asks, making me jump as I didn't know he was behind me.
"No, I actually hate you the most right now." In despite of my words I lean up to peck his lips and wrap my free arm that isn't carrying biology books around him.
"Why? Because I'm an awesome boyfriend who is going to give you the best birthday in the history of ever? Or is it because I'm going to give my girlfriend the best present ever heard of?" He laughs lightly, kissing my cheek.
"All of those reasons are valid. But no, I hate you most because you told everyone it was my birthday. What if I wanted to have nobody know? Then you'd feel like shit, right?" I ask him as he entwines our hands and lead us to the only class we have together, biology.
"I might. But I'd make it up to you before you had the chance to be mad at me." He smirks.
"Mr.Murphy, Ms.Peters, no physical form of connection allowed in school." The Bio teacher, Mr.Kelly tells us as we walk towards his classroom. Nobody knows why he hates couples so much, but we believe and make assumptions it's because he's a forty year old virgin.
At the same time I mutter an apology and try to disconnect our hands, Derrick tightens the lock and pulls me in for a kiss.
"Mr.Murphy, detention after school today. As for you Allison, next time try not to be associated with one as defiant as Mr.Murphy." He says and I nod to him before Derrick and I walk into the classroom, sitting next to each other.
"Derrick, why'd you do that?" I whine when there's a few minutes left in class, after spending the period taking notes, the Mr.Kelly tells us we can chatter quietly for the remainder of class.
"Do what?" He asks, shutting his notebook that he was doodling in instead of taking notes.
"Why did you have to get yourself in trouble with Mr.Kelly? I wanted to spend my birthday with you but now you've got detention. Who am I supposed to cuddle on my bed watching Netflix with until my parents come home now?" I pout.
"We can still do that." He laughs. "Your parents don't come home until like. eight or nine, something like that. Detention will be over at like, four. But, why don't you go spend some time with that Mikey kid, the one that's always hanging around Calum. I don't think you've talked for awhile, right?" He asks me, grabbing my hand under the table as he does so.
"Wait, you don't hate him anymore?" I ask.
"Nah, he's not that bad. When you so peacefully fell asleep on me we all talked, he's pretty cool. Aslong as I don't walk in on any lip-locking anymore than you can hang out I guess." He shrugs.
"Thank you Derrick, I love you." I smile to him, forgetting we're in a classroom as I hug him and give him a peck on the cheek.
"Babe, teacher." He whisper laughs into my ear and I pull away quickly, looking for any sign that Mr.Kelly noticed, and he luckily he's doing paperwork at his desk.
"He didn't see anything." I tell Derrick who's still laughing quietly at my reaction. "Shut up or no kisses when we watch Netflix later." I threaten.
"But you can't resist me." He smiles, still chuckling.
"You can't resist me either." I give in.
"That's true." He shrugs and then the bell rings, sending all of us students off. All except for Derrick who has to stay behind for his detention.
