Imagine~ It's 1925 and you're a guest at the opening party for the Hotel Cortez. You aren't really enjoying yourself the entire time.

James POV-
Tense: Past
I popped open the bottle of champagne and started pouring it into fancy wine glasses. Everyone was laughing and having fun. Women wore their nicest gowns, and men wore their tuxedos and bowties.
Most people at the party I had known, each one special... in a way. Though someone caught my eye.
There was a young woman, younger, or at least shorter than me. I hadn't known her, but she was so elegant and beautiful.
I had my eye on her while I poured the champagne, hoping maybe at some point I could talk to her.
I continued to watch her until I looked up and saw she was no longer in the crowd.
I handed the bottle of champagne to the maid and walked out of the room to look for her.
I may have been a deranged killer, but there was something about her that I liked.
I searched around the halls until I saw her staring out an open window.
"Hello, my dear," I said from a few feet away. She instantly turned around.
"Hello, Mr. March...what are you doing here?" she said, stuttering. She was fidgeting with her hands.
"I needed some fresh air. Say my dear, why are you here? I've never seen you before." I walked closer to her.
"My sister dragged me along," she said.
"And what is your name?" I questioned.
"(Y/N) (Y/L)," she said softly. I put my hand out.
"To hell with this party. Come, walk with me." Her hands were covered with white gloves. Her one hand touched my palm and I lightly grabbed it.
I gave her a tour through the hotel while the party went on.
"Mr. March-" I stopped her.
"Please, call me James." She smiled awkwardly.
"James... the hotel is lovely." (Y/N) looked at me. I stared back at her. We were trapped in each others' gaze. I didn't see her like how I saw other women.
I enjoyed her company.
Someone called for (Y/N) in the distance. We both instantly snapped back into reality.
"That's my sister. I-I have to go." She started to walk off. I grabbed her hand and spun her around. I kissed her hand.
"Come back soon," I added quickly, giving a wink. She nodded hurriedly before walking away, a blush slowly creeping across her face.
