Song of the Chapter: Cutiepie, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (I mean i had to)💁
-----------------------------//---------------------------
It was the morning of the engagement, and to say that the Oberoi Mansion was chaotic was an understatement.
Anika and Mira had been locked inside a bridal room for the past three hours, with experts and spa staff catering to all their needs, a gift from Mira.
Samrat, Raichand and Rudy were busy ordering around the workmen and the staff, everyone and everything had to be perfect.
"OH BHAISAHAB HELLO! KYA KAR RAHE HO? MAINE ORANGE FLOWERS BOLE THE, YE TANGERINE HAIN!"
Abhi yelled from the stairs at a flustered florist arranging strings of flowers from the ceiling.
"Mukti, ye....seedha hai na?"
Cabir muttered to a frazzled Mukti, who wasn't hearing anything, just focused on Abhimanyu Singh Oberoi in all his glory, in a fitted tux that well, could make even married aunties swoon.
"Kya bola?"
Mukti asked Cabir to repeat himself, still in a daze.
"Abbey ARE YOU SURE HE'S STRAIGHT?!?"
He yelled, not bothering to pay attention to any eyes widening at him.
"Oh Cabir Dhawan, after yesterday, I'm definitely sure he's straight."
Mukti muttered with a smirk, as she left Cabir with a pat on his back to join Abhi.
"Shiv shiv shiv shiv shiv, behuda ladki."
Cabir muttered disgustingly, putting his palms to his ears as he sped away.
Yup, Abhi and Mukti had definitely gotten out of the friend zone.
And Nandini? She, along with Rishab and Malik, was with Shivaay, getting him ready for the second-best day of his life.
"Ishu, this is too much. Like, what is this? Why is this sparkly? And why is it so long?"
Shivaay asked, nitpickin bright red, designer sherwani.
"Bhai, seriously? It's your engagement! You can't just wear your normal business suit na? Thoda sparkle toh hoga hi."
Nandini answered, swatting off his hands and fixing the stole wrapped around his shoulder.
"Shivaay, just agree with what she says. Do you think I wanted to wear this? It's better not to argue against her."
Malik advises begrudgingly, pointing at his black kurta, which he was looking absolutely delicious in, not that he cared.
Rishab chuckled and nodded, pointing to his own outfit, a beige kurta and a red Nehru jacket.
(Guys I'm not adding the guys' outfits because eugh, lame. However, if you do want to see them, let me know, I'll add them in later!)
Shivaay took one last glance at himself in the mirror, letting out a sigh, and nodded. This was it. He was going to be engaged.
Nandini smiled at him, side hugging him, as Shivaay smiled back, kissing her forehead.
"Not that it needs to be said, but you look absolutely beautiful, Ishu. I'm going to have to watch out for any young men around you."
Shivaay complimented her, a protective edge to his voice, as she chuckled and blushed.
"Shivaay, tu engagement aur Anika Di pe concentrate karna, iska khayal main, Raichand aur Sam rakhlenge."
Malik said, as Rishab cleared his throat with a frown on his face.
"Arey haan, ab Jordan bhi kam bodybuilder nahi hai."
Malik added, punching Rishab's shoulder playfully, which made him lose his balance as he coughed, laughing to put on a front but cringing inwardly, making both Shivaay and Nandini chuckle in amusement.
"Chalo, I've gotten the message from Mira, she's bringing Anika Di downstairs along with Sammy, it's showtime!"
Nandini said excitedly, jumping up and down, as the three boys looked at her amusedly.
"Yeah, Abhi and Rudra are coming up in a second to escort Shivaay with us too. Raichand's coming with Mira and Sammy to escort Anika di, though."
Malik said, explaining how the procession will be carried out.
"Obviously he's coming with them."
Rishab muttered cheekily, as Nandini smiled and nudged him. Oh, the boy had grown up too soon.
"BHAIYA! Oh god, mujhe abhi abhi realize hua, Billu ki shaadi ho rahi hai! Billu ka sehra sajh raha hai! This is too emotional, aapke bina kaise rahunga main, bhaiya!"
Rudra suddenly exclaimed, pinning down Shivaay in a hug as soon as he entered the room, with Abhi rolling his eyes at him.
"Rudy, Bhaiya KAHIN nahi jaa rahe. Literally nothing is changing, Anika Di bhi technically pure time yahin rehti thi, it's just that ab official ho raha hai. No need to be SO filmy."
Abhi said, patting his shoulder as the the others shook their heads, Rudra was never going to grow up.
"Chalo, ready?"
Nandini asked Shivaay, taking his arm in hers, as Malik and Rishab stood besides her, while Abhi and Rudra stood besides Shivaay.
Shivaay nodded nervously, before suddenly shaking his head and ruffling his hair, and getting into his SSO mode.
Everyone shook their heads, and taking a breath, walked out, exposing themselves to everyone in the crowd in the hall as they walked down the stairs.
And there was one boy, who positively stopped breathing for a minute.
Manik couldn't keep his eyes off Nandini, even when Cabir and Mukti continuously nudged him to avert his gaze.
Her royal blue lehenga, pretty pink dupatta that perfectly matched the color of her pouty smile, her side-swept chocolate brown hair, and those eyes, those damned eyes.
It's amazing how even without efforts, she managed to look like the most beautiful girl on the entire goddamn planet, Manik thought, as he stood there admiring her open-mouthed.
"Mooh to band karlo, uncle."
Cabir said, quoting Main Hoon Na, his hand beneath Manik's jaw, who had finally gained consciousness, and given a big, dreamy smile to Nandini, as if letting her know how she had affected him.
Nandini too, surprised him, by giving him a dazzling smile, and bowing her head in thanks. When he grinned at her boyishly, she took the opportunity to point at him, and then wave her hand, as if he was looking average.
Manik shook his head, chuckling and let out a sigh. This girl was going to be the death of him.
Suddenly Malik nudged Nandini, making her turn to him as he pointed towards the opposite staircase, from where Anika, Mira, Sammy and Raichand were descending.
Mira too, was looking like a dream, by the way Raichand was staring at her, his eyes following her each movement, as she blushed and instead averted her gaze to her sister.
Shivaay had avoided looking at Anika till he had safely reached downstairs, not wanting to trip down the stairs if she looked a bit too dangerous, and god was he glad he made that decision.
In a red sari matching his sherwani, she looked ready to kill. Shivaay Singh Oberoi was never one to get flustered and blush, but hey, there's a first time for everything.
Cabir and Mukti giggled at all three of the starstruck eyes, plus Dhruv who kept finding excuses to play with Alya's dupatta.
"Sab ke sab joru ke gulaam banenge."
Cabir murmured, making Navya hit him on the shoulder, only causing Cabir to chuckle some more.
(Mukti, Navya and Alya)
-------------------------------//-------------------------
"Alright everyone, let's get this party started! Make some noise!"
Raichand yelled into the mic, as he stood on the stage, the emcee for the day.
"Abbey MC Sher, ye engagement hai, Nach Baliye nahi. Chill kar."
Malik muttered, standing besides him, with Nandini chuckling on his left.
"So today's a really, really special day for the entire Shergill-Oberoi family. And we're so glad all of you could make it!"
Nandini said, already taking the mic from Raichand, who could only pout as a tantrum, while Manik just smiled listening to her dreamy voice.
"Before we could get started with the ring ceremony, all of us prepared a little something for the lovely couple, sort of like a gift."
Malik said, taking the mic from Nandini, making her roll her eyes.
Before anybody else could take the mic and say something, Samrat quickly yelled,
"HIT IT!"
What followed his extremely dramatic exclamation, was a series of men entering the venue with dholis, much to Anika's excitement, who loved anything that had to do with bollywood and Desi culture.
"Oh, Maine jise abhi abhi dekha hai
Kaun hai woh anjaani,"
He sang, pointing to Anika, who had the biggest grin on her face, and Shivaay could only smile looking at her.
"Woh hai koi kali ya koi kiran
Ya hai koi kahani"
Raichand continued, rushing to take his place besides Mira, who shook her head, blushing.
"Use jitna dekhon utna sochoon,
Kya use main keh doon,"
Malik sang, bending on his knees with his hand stretched out in front of Nandini, who chuckled, accepting it.
Manik's jaw ticked at this, kameena. Wasn't he supposed to be helping him? Toh ye line kyu maar raha hai ab?
"Pretty woman, hey
Dekho dekho na pretty woman,
Pretty woman,
Dekhte ho na, pretty woman,"
All three boys sang together, with Anika, Mira and Nandini doing the signature step besides them.
"Pretty woman,
Tum bhi kaho naa, oh pretty woman,"
Abhi and Rudra joined the song, nudging at Shivaay to join in.
"Yo pretty woman,"
From the corner of the room, Kunwal Singh Oberoi began, making everyone turn towards him, as Anika, Mira and Nandini rushed to join him, dragging along Mukti, Navya and Alya as well.
"Listen up girl, when you feel this way,
Don’t you see the sunshine
Coming out today,"
He rapped in his accent, making the entire crowd chuckle with amusement.
"Ye Grand Oberoi sabse bade player hain. Aate hi saari ladkiyan le gaye."
Raichand muttered, as all the boys nodded in agreement.
"You got to feel it right
Just like day after night,
Don't let the sunshine
Out of your sight,"
Cabir rapped, moving around Nanu's wheelchair, having the time of his life.
"Cause I can feel you,
Girl, can you feel it,
When I say that,"
Manik too rapped, inching closer towards Nandini, who smirked at him with narrowed eyes.
"I can feel you here
Can you feel me
When I say that
I am crazy about you
Pretty woman"
Abhi and Dhruv finished the rap, pointing towards Mukti and Alya respectively.
"Sone ka rang hai
Sheeshe ka ang hai
Jo dekhe dang hai kya kahoon,
Hairaan main bhi hoon,"
Shivaay suddenly sang, extending his hand towards Anika, who gladly accepted it, and was pulled into his embrace blushingly.
"Yeh kya andaaz hai,
Itna kyun naaz hai,
Ismein kya raaz hain kya kahoon,"
He continued, getting lost in her eyes, as she smiled and brought her hand to his cheeks, both having stopped moving, just looking at each other, while the youngsters giggled.
"Ho, woh toh pal mein khush hai,
pal mein khafa,
Badle woh rang har ghadi,"
Samrat sang, nudging his sister's shoulder's, bringing the couple out of their daze as Anika playfully slapped his cheek.
"Par jab bhi dekhoon roop uska
Lagti hai hai pyaari badi"
Rudra sang, dragging a giggling Nandini with him as he ran to stand besides Shivaay.
"Usse jitna dekhoon,
utna sochoon,
kya use main keh doon,
Pretty woman.."
Raichand sang, as Malik and Abhimanyu followed him up towards the stage.
"Hey! Pretty woman,
Dekho dekho na, pretty woman,
Pretty woman,
Dekhte ho na, pretty woman,
Oh, Pretty woman
Tum bhi kaho naa, pretty woman"
Everyone sang together, now having established partners and choreography, as the guests all enjoyed dancing on their own as well, while Shivaay and Anika danced together, seemingly in their own world.
The guitar instrumental faded, followed by a spotlight on Nandini.
"Ho, aankhon mein hai nasha,
Zulphon mein hai ghata,
Pehle hamne ada yeh haseen,
Dekhi na thi kahin,"
Manik sang soulfully, bringing his hand to Nandini's cheek, pushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear, as she moved away, only for him to hold her hand.
"Dekhi jo yeh pari,
Masti dil mein bhari,
Hai yeh jadoogari ya nahi,"
He continued, as this time Nandini too leaned into his touch, caressing his cheeks as he closed his eyes.
"Ho na toh janu main kya naam,
na janu main pata,
Par itna hai maine jana,"
Cabir's loud voice brought him out of his daydream, shaking his head as he saw Mira dancing with Nandini and not himself.
"Jisse dekhle ek nazar bhar ke,
Usko karde woh deewana,"
Raichand and Malik both sang, making their way towards Mira and Nandini, who grinned and danced along.
"Usse jitna dekhoon,
utna sochoon,
Kya use main keh doon,"
Abhi, Rudra and Rishab sang, bringing Anika and Shivaay down from the stage to the dance floor.
"Pretty woman,
Dekho dekho na pretty woman,
Pretty woman,
Dekhte ho na pretty woman,
Pretty woman,
Tum bhi kaho naa pretty woman,"
Everyone sang and danced, guitar riffs filling up the air, as people mixed in groups, rather than partnerning up.
"Pretty woman,
Dekho dekho na pretty woman,
Pretty woman,
Dekhte ho na pretty woman,
Pretty woman,
Tum bhi kaho naa pretty woman, hoye hoye!"
The performance finally ended with claps and cheers and panting breaths.
The engagement had officially begun!
