Lizbeth's POV
I was into my emotions too deep, too far. I can't believe I told Monica. I can't believe I said that and I regret it a lot more than I thought I would, of all the people I told her. I was in over my head, my mind was going to the worst situation possible, for all I know she could go around and tell everyone the one thing I'm trying to keep deep hidden in my past.
I didn't want to go back to class after that. I wanted to be alone and figure out what could be my next step, all I know is that I'll get it later when my mom gets a call from the school or maybe not she never uses her phone yet again take calls from unknown numbers. A while back Alexa told me she blocked her schools number on moms phone but that was before I found out I was made it into Carden High. I was walking down the sidewalk taking the long way back to my house, looking over my shoulder every five minutes. I figured that taking the long way would give me more time to calm down but instead I'm just freaking out more than I should be. I heard a car from behind as if they were driving slowly but I kept my pace as normal so I wouldn't look like an easy target. I was praying to god it wasn't Eric Anderson.
"Need a ride?" I heard from beside me as I turned my head to see Aaron in his car
"A-Aaron? W-what are you doing here?" I asked as I stopped in my tracks and he stopped his car on the side of street. He parked his car and got out as he walked over to me
"I heard you walk out of school from Ricardo. Why?"He asked as he slide his arm around my back
"I-I just have a lot going on.." I said running my hand through my hair not making eye contact with him
"You can talk to me" he said grabbing my hand. It was so warm and soft almost too comforting I didn't want to let go
"You know...don't lie" I said. I just knew, he had to know
"Talk to me" He said
"I'm sure Monica ran around the school telling everyone what happened to me two years ago" I said. I turned to him but he knew
"...but Monica never said a thing, did you tell her?" he said
"Wait? You know?" I asked taking a step back
"I do...but I didn't find out through Monica" he said
"So who told you?" I asked. He cleared his throat glancing back behind him and back at me
"The guys and I got into this argument and Gonzalo just blurted everything out" Aaron said. My heart dropped because I didn't want more people
"I had tell her, it was the only way I could get her to finally understand me" I said as I began walking away but I he pulled me back into a hug. I wanted to cry in his arms as I wanted to I held in that lump in my throat and hugged him back.
"Hey.." he said. He let go. He looked at me as he rubbed my arms with comfort
"Just because you went through some trauma which...you didn't deserve doesn't make you different..." he said as he stroked my hair
I didn't realize how close our faces were..his lips were so close to mine I could feel his hot breath;mint like, his eyes burning into my face. I knew I was blushing I could feel myself burn. He grabbed both my arms as he pulled me closer to almost touching his nose with mine. I grabbed his arms. Leaning in closer and closer but the moment was ruined when I heard Ricardo's annoying ass scream far ahead. We broke apart and stood there smiling at each other.
"I knew it was you guys" Ricardo said as he ran to us but to only catch his breathe
"you're really out of shape" Aaron said patting his back
"...I haven't worked out in weeks" Ricardo said finally standing up straight
"Right, weeks.." Aaron said
"Why'd you run out?" Ricardo asked as he was trying to catch his breath
"I told Monica..I told her about what happened to me" I said
"The hell? I mean...Monica? Really?" He questioned
"She came up to me in the bathroom and pushed me up against the wall blaming me for her boyfriends asshole kind of behavior and..it just came out" I said. They both stood there looking at me analyzing everything I was saying "Guys I needed her to somewhat understand the situation between all of us..Aaron now knows but he has common sense at least" I said smiling at Aaron as he smiled back. Ricardo noticed
"What's up with you two" Ricardo asked pointing at the both of us "oh my god..are you two dating..you haven't even known each other that long?!"
"No were not dating" I said
"Yet" Aaron said as I was caught off guard by his response. I felt the same way but I was still so scared
"It's finally happening" Ricardo said
"..I'll take her home" Aaron said
"I have her stuff" he said as he took off my bag which I completely didn't notice at all and handed it to me
"Why didn't I notice that?" I asked swinging it over my shoulder
"I found it that's all that matters ...I'm going back to school wish me luck getting back in" he said as he walked off
"Cmon let's take you home" he said he opened the car for me. I got in sat on the passenger seat and he shut the door for me getting into the drivers seat, turning on the car driving off.
The car ride was so silent, the kind of silent I liked. It was soothing and good in a way. I could feel at moments when Aaron would stare at me and I could feel myself getting hot. Before I knew we were right in front of my house. Aaron stepped out as he walked over to my side and opened the door for me, I stepped out. We both walked up the concrete steps to my front door.
"Wanna come in?" I asked. I don't know why I asked him if he wanted to come in but I did. Now that I think about it I did the same thing with Derek.
I opened the door as we both stepped in. It air filled with the smell of food which meant that my mom was home...shit. My mom heard us and turned around to face us as she had a yet surprised and neutral look on her face.
"What are you two doing here early? Where's Clara? Was today a short day? Oh! Did Clara stay after school?" She asked
"Yes it was, some students were still at school waiting for their rides when I offered Lizbeth a ride home..I saw Clara but she was talking to some friends" Aaron said as he sounding like as if he was saying the truth, god he's a good liar. That's make both of us.
"Alexa is in her room, she told me the same thing" my mom said as she looked at me and then at me and then..at Aaron
"Mrs, erm perdón señora mucho gusto de conocer la" Aaron said. My mom gave him a smile. I knew that smile was real
"Mucho gusto Aaron" my mom said as she winked
"I should get going, my parents hate when I get home after the time I get off school. I'll see you tomorrow Lizbeth, bye...adiós señora" Aaron said as he kissed my cheek and waved to my mom as he exited the house closing the door
"Okay" my mom said as she sat down at the table
"What?" I asked as I stood by the entrance of the kitchen waiting for her to say something
"I like him, but because he knows his Spanish and es bien educado...he seems like he really likes you Mija, from what I just saw" she finally admitted to herself
"Yeah...He's cool mom" I said trying to sound like I wasn't overly excited
"I don't need you getting hurt all over again" she said as she stood up to go back to what she was cooking
"Thanks mom" I said before I go could my mom said "and make sure you call your sister, Alexa is in her room but you know I hate when one of you or all of you come home after school hours" she said
"Got it" was all I said
I stepped out of the kitchen as I walked down the corridor to my room. I couldn't help but smile because I couldn't live with the fact that I felt like I had to hide Aaron from my mom. I called Clara and it took about three rings until she finally picked up and sounding furious.
'Hey, where the hell are you?' I asked
'Where the hell am I? Where the hell are you? I've been looking for you all the place until Ricardo came up to me saying Aaron took you home?? Why's that?' She asked
'I told Monica what happened to me and then I left out of panic..Aaron caught up to me and offered me a ride home' I said
'What am I supposed to tell mom when I get home?' She asked in panic
'Don't worry we told her it was a short day since Alexa was already home and I'm assuming Alexa left school as well' I said
'You and Aaron told that to mom?' She asked
'Aaron told mom he saw you talking to some friends when he offered me a ride home but he only said to cover you and I up' I said
'..Monica told me but she didn't go around telling people if that's what you're assuming, she broke up with Gonzalo and..gave him a good slap across the face' she said
'he's gonna hate me more than he already does C' I said
'No, somewhere deep deep in his tiny little heart he still has that...friendship love for you. He didn't seem phased by it or...maybe he did but don't worry about it, I'll see you home' she said then she stopped and gasped 'oh my god mom met Aaron how the hell did that go down?' She asked. Wow she barely realized
'She likes him! Bye' I said hanging up not giving my sister a chance to say something back
I jumped in bed as I laid down. I was happy, happy for once to like a guy who I hope or I think isn't like Derek. I felt happy to be loved, liked whatever by someone who didn't care about what past looks like. I felt good but I was still scared and I wasn't going to let that blind me like it did in the past.
