Natasha keeps trying to flirt with Steve but he brushes it off because he thinks it is just her teasing him.
Natasha grinned when she saw Steve step out of the elevator. He looked nice in his plain black suit.
They were at another one of Tony's parties and she was currently bartending for him because he had forgotten to hire someone.
She had been bored all night, but now that Steve was here, maybe she could have a little bit more fun.
Steve caught her gaze and walked over to the bar she was standing behind.
"Hey Super Soldier." She said, leaning towards him with a grin on her face.
He smiled, taking in her appearance. She was wearing a floor length navy blue dress with a long slit from her thigh down on the side. "Evening Natasha."
She rolled her eyes. "Always so formal."
Steve shrugged and sat down at the bar. "Got anything strong enough to get a super soldier drunk?" He asked.
Natasha shook her head. "No. Why would you need to get drunk? Girl done you wrong?"
Steve shook his head. "No girl to do me wrong. I just figured that dealing with these parties would be a lot easier if I'm not sober."
"Oh come on Rogers. It's not that bad. Plus, maybe you could find a girl. I don't think there's a single girl in this room that would say no if you asked them to dance." She said with a twinkle in her eyes.
Steve blushed, was she flirting with him? He dismissed the thought quickly. Thinking Natasha must have just been teasing him.
Natasha waited for him to respond, but he just looked down at his hands and blushed.
She came around the bar and sat besides Steve, placing a drink in front of him. "It won't get you drunk, but maybe you'll feel a little buzz."
Steve took a sip and nodded. "Thanks...you've got a form of the super serum too, how do you get drunk?"
Natasha smirked. "I don't."
Steve furrowed his eyebrows. "Then how come last week I had to carry you up three flights of stairs because you were too drunk to walk?"
"I wasn't drunk. You just thought I was."
"And you willingly let me carry you? Who are you and what have you done with the real Natasha?"
Natasha blushed and laughed. "Well, maybe I like being in your arms." She told him, half joking and half completely serious.
Steve blushed but tried to play it cool. "Well, they are pretty nice arms." He said playfully flexing his bicep.
Natasha nodded and gave it a light squeeze jokingly. "Definitely the best of all the avengers in my opinion."
Steve became flustered again and took another sip of his drink. Natasha wasn't normally like this, sure she was flirty. But never like this.
She was really laying it on him thick tonight. And he felt like a fool for wishing it meant something.
Natasha watched him carefully, she had been hoping that if she flirted with him more then maybe he would take a hint that she liked him, but he seemed to be more anxious then anything.
She was beginning to worry that it was too much for him and that maybe he just didn't feel the same.
Natasha stood up. "I'm gonna go talk to Clint. I'll see you later?"
Steve nodded, already missing her presence.
In one last attempt to give Steve a hint, Natasha leaned forward and placed a chaste kiss on his cheek.
Steve's eyes widened and he watched as she slowly walked away.
When Steve finally turned back towards the bar, he saw Tony standing besides him with a frown.
"I would have thought that a 90 year old grandpa like you would be able to tell when a girl is interested in him. And yet here you are alone while Natasha over there is just waiting for you to ask her to dance."
Steve rolled his eyes. "She is not waiting for me to ask her to dance. Natasha isn't interested in me."
Tony scoffed. "Then please tell me why she won't stop glancing over here to see if you're still here."
"Tony, you're probably drunk and imagining things."
"Actually, I'm trying sobriety for a change. And it's already killing me so I need something to keep me busy, and I found just the thing."
Steve rolled his eyes. "Which is what?"
"Helping you get Natasha on a date."
"Tony, what makes you think I even like her?" He said, lying through his teeth.
"Please. It's ridiculously obvious to everyone but you and Nat. You two can't stop staring at each other during missions and you eat together every night and then watch a movie...or should I say Natasha watches a movie while you stare at her."
Steve cut him off. "Alright, so maybe I do. But that doesn't mean she likes me."
Tony rubbed the bridge of his nose and sighed.
"She's literally been flirting with you all night. She's not exactly been discreet about her crush. You've just ignored the signs."
Steve looked at Tony, confused. "How did you know she's been flirting with me all night?"
Tony rolled his eyes and reached under the bar, pulling a small bug from the surface. "Easedropping."
"What the hell Tony?!"
He shrugged. "All of us are very involved in the two of you getting together. We've been waiting months for something to happen."
"So what, you've been listening to all our conversations?"
Tony nodded. "Only the ones outside your rooms. And we've also filmed them if you want proof that she liked you too."
"God." Steve muttered, palming his face.
Grabbed Steve's arm and lifted him out of the stool. "Hey Clint, get out of there, I'm sending Cap in." He said into his watch.
Steves eyes widened again. "What is this? Some type of mission??!"
Tony nodded. "Yeah, and your assignment is to go talk to her and hopefully get her to dance with you, which shouldn't be difficult. Just tell her how you feel."
Steve rolled his eyes. "Fine."
Steve walked over to Natasha and stood besides her at one of the facilities large windows overlooking a forest.
"Not quite the view we had back at the tower, but it'll do." Steve commented, making Natasha turn around.
"I don't know, I've got quite the view right here."
Steve smiled, his cheeks turning red.
"Where did Clint go?" He asked.
"I don't have a clue, probably up in a vent or something."
Steve chuckled and nodded. "Yeah you're probably right."
Natasha looked around the room at the dancing couples and looked back at Steve. "Still haven't found a girl to dance with Rogers?"
Steve shook his head, "No, but I do have one question."
Natasha nodded, encouraging him to go on.
"When you said there wasn't a girl in the room who would say no, did that include you?"
Natasha smirked. "I don't know. Why don't you ask and find out?"
Steve grinned sheepishly. "Ok, in that case. Natasha, will you dance with me?" He said, offering his hand to her.
Natasha took it and smiled, silently accepting his invitation.
He led her to where the other people were dancing and placed his arm around Natasha and began to slowly waltz with her around the dance floor.
Natasha smiled up at him. "You know, for an old man you've got some moves."
"Well, for a master spy and assassin you're not so bad yourself."
Natasha grinned. "Dancing was a part of our training in the red room. It was never this enjoyable though. I guess it just depends on your partner."
Steve twirled her around and pulled her even closer. "Yeah I guess it does."
Natasha wrapped her arm around Steve's neck and placed her head on his chest, turning their waltz into more of a swaying back and forth.
Steve placed his hand on her lower back and sighed.
"What's wrong?" Natasha asked.
"Nothing, I just really like dancing with you."
Natasha couldn't help but start to blush at his words, luckily he couldn't see her face. "I like dancing with you too."
The song ended and Natasha grabbed Steve's hand, pulling him onto an isolated balcony.
"What are we doing out here?" Steve asked, not letting go of Natasha's hand.
"Enjoying the fresh air." She said casually. She shivered and Steve offered her his jacket.
"You don't seem to be enjoying it. Its kind of cold out here, you sure you don't want to go inside?"
Natasha nodded. "There's too many people in there. It's nice to just be alone with you."
Steve smiled down at her and couldn't help but stare at her.
"What? Do I have something on my face?" Natasha asked, noticing his staring.
Steve shook his head. "No, I just...nevermind."
Natasha's eyebrows furrowed. "Come on, what is it?"
"I was talking to Tony earlier. And he told me to do something that I want to do, but it might ruin a lot of things."
"What did he tell you to do?"
Steve glanced up from his shoes and fiddled with the buttons on his shirt. "Well, there's this girl. She's great, and I've been secretly in love with her for months. Tony said I should tell her how I feel."
Natasha stepped closer to Steve so that her chest was pressed to his. She could feel how quickly his heart was beating.
"You know, I don't often agree with Tony, but I think he's right this time. If she knows what's good for her then she'll probably reciprocate the feelings."
Steve tilted his head to the side a little bit. "You think so?"
Natasha nodded.
Steve grinned. "Alright, I'm gonna go talk to her."
He turned around for a second and then faced Natasha again. "Hey Nat, I'm in love with you."
Natasha laughed and pushed Steve's shoulder. "You are literally the dumbest man I've ever met."
"And?"
"And I love you too." Natasha said, pulling Steve down to her lips and passionately kissing him.
Steve sighed into the kiss and lifted Natasha up as she wrapped her legs around his waist.
"Did it really take Tony telling you to do this for you to think maybe I felt the same?? I have literally been flirting with you for months now."
"I know, I'm an idiot."
"Yeah you are, think about it. We could have been doing this months ago if you could take a hint."
Steve frowned and Natasha kissed him again. "Now we just have to make up for lost time." She added.
Steve grinned. "I'm ok with that."
"Not out here, it's cold."
Steve sighed and let her fall from his waist.
Natasha smoothed out her navy dress and took Steve's hand as they walked back inside.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to ask you...will you go on a date with me tomorrow night?" Steve whispered in her ear.
Natasha caught the side of Steve's lips with her own and laughed. "What do you think?"
They both laughed and headed upstairs, completely ignoring the rest of the guest.
Across the room, Clint and Tony sat at the bar in awe. "Huh, I guess Natasha finally picked up her fossil." Clint said.
Hey guys, I have a few things to say so please don't scroll past.
First of all, like always, I hope you enjoyed this. It was another strange idea I had that I needed to write.
I'm not sure how well it was written considering I am literally the worst flirter. I just don't flirt, like ever. So if this was really bad then I apologise. But if you did enjoy, please comment and vote.
Second of all, I was really excited to realize that this story is already #5 in the hashtag romanogers, so I just wanted to thank anyone who reads these one shots.
Last of all, if anyone is at all interested in possibly beta reading these chapters or even just chatting about Marvel, please PM me. I'm on the app all the time and sould really like to have someone to talk to about my obsession with the characters bc none of my friends care that much lol.
That's all, have a nice day!
