A/N ; i got this request ages ago and finally decided to write it!! i hope you like it! (also i tried to make the pronouns gender neutral i'm sorry if i didn't do it right)
Y/N was late to their sister's graduation.
And of course, their parents had trusted them with the important job of picking out flowers for the event to give to their sister. Unfortunately, they had no clue where the flower shop was, and no clue what flowers to get once they found it.
They had been running around town in their best clothes trying desperately to find the address their mother had sent, but their efforts for the last 10 minutes had failed until now.
When they finally found the building, it was a small, quaint place with all types and sizes of beautiful flowers. They sighed lightly out of relief and sudden tiredness, walking into the small shop, which appeared to be mostly empty.
They browsed for a moment, trying to find flowers that their sister would like, finally stopping in front of a simple bouquet of pretty yellow flowers.
They picked up the flowers, only to almost drop them when they heard a familiar boy's voice behind them.
"See anything you like?"
Y/N turned around sharply towards the voice, immediately wanting to hide when they were face to face with the most popular boy at their school, Hwang Hyunjin.
"Oh, Hyunjin, you work here?" Y/N finally managed to say.
The boy smiled and nodded. "I do. What're you looking for today?"
"Flowers for my sister's graduation. My parents sent me, and I have no clue what to get for her."
"Well, I can help you if you'd like."
"No, it's fine, I think I'm going to get these." they said awkwardly while trying to slide past Hyunjin.
"I'll check you out then," said the boy, walking towards the register, beckoning Y/N to follow them.
"Oh, thank you."
"No problem," he paused, looking like he wanted to ask something. "also, do you have a favorite flower, Y/N?"
"It's probably daisies. Why do you ask?"
"Just curious." he said with a small smile.
"Well, I've got to get going now, it was good to see you Hyunjin."
"It was good to see you too. You look amazing, by the way."
"Thank you, um, so do you." they said awkwardly, leaving the store.
After delivering the flowers to their sister at the the graduation was over, Y/N was sitting alone outside the school, watching the sunset.
It was beautiful outside, the air crisp and cool, and the colors in the sky were rich pinks, oranges, and reds.
Y/N sighed deeply admiring the view, their mind suddenly wandering to Hyunjin. Like half of the other people in their class, they had developed a huge crush on him pretty early on in high school.
It was hard not to like Hyunjin, even if they were from completely different social crowds. Unfortunately, there was no way an amazing person like Hyunjin could ever have feelings for someone like them.
"Just give up already Y/N," they said to themself, "there's no way he'd ever feel the same."
"That who would feel the same?"
They turned around quickly, startled by the voice. Their heart skipped a beat when they realized that it was Hyunjin standing in front of them, carrying a small bouquet of daises.
"Oh, um, it's nothing. It would never work out anyway." Y/N said, turning away with embarrassment.
Without a word, they felt Hyunjin sit beside them, and felt the bouquet of daisies being set in their lap.
"Wait, these are for me?" they said, looking at the beautiful boy beside them.
"Yes, they are."
"Thank you, they're beautiful."
"Of course," he said with a small smile. "There's actually something I want to tell you." he looked at them with sincerity in his eyes, grabbing their hands gently.
"Y/N, I like you. I have for a really long time. I think you're beautiful, kind, and funny, and even though we may be from different social groups, it doesn't change my feelings for you. I want to be with you, as your boyfriend."
It was tense and silent for a moment, and Hyunjin was clearly nervous.
"But if you don't feel the same, I understand, and you don't have to say anything yet I ju—"
Without a word, he was cut off by Y/N's lips on his. After getting over the initial shock, he melted into the kiss, savoring every moment he could before they pulled away.
"Hyunjin, I like you too. I always have."
He smiled brighter than the sunset in that moment. "That's a relief."
"Who knew flowers could bring someone together, huh?" Y/N said, leaning their head on Hyunjin's shoulder.
"I'm glad they did."
