Thor turned himself around and looked down at the small boy behind him, his eyes hooded, calm. His eyes shown something unreadable. The older boy looked away for a split second, then turned back at the young boy. His eyes were filled with love, yet something was still off.
He gently reached his hand out and took hold of his brother's, Loki's, cold yet soft and smooth hand. The young boy looked up at his brother, his ultramarine orbs bright and vivid with curiosity. He hadn't a clue of what was happening, but he need not know. All he needed to know was that he was safe, that he, they were going to be okay.
Thor's lips were parted slightly as he let out a soft breath.
"Brother, you haven't a clue of what is going to happen, but it is okay. I am here." Loki cocked his head a little to the side. He was such a sweet and young boy, this was not fair. But all Thor could do was sigh. He turned his head, just enough to see the path ahead of them.
"If I do not take this path with you, curiosity will over take me. Grief will eat me alive.." He said softly.
"But if I do take this path, walk alongside you, shall I be proud of what I've done? Or shall I be overcome with regret?" Thor questioned himself.
"Shall I be happy?" He quietly sighed, almost whispered. His lips curved into a smile, one so gentle and true.
"Of course I will be. I am with you. ."
Loki watched as Thor's eyes welled up with tears. He let out a sound of concern, looking at his brother with eyes so curious. Thor wiped them away with his free hand, sighing while still smiling. Thor let go of Loki's hand, lowering himself onto one knee. He brought his hand up to Loki's face as gentle as he could. He brushed his thumb across Loki's cheek. Loki leaned into his brother's touch, a smile melting across his face like warm butter.
Thor leaned in and pressed his lips against Loki's forehead, showing his little brother that is was going to be okay. Everything was going to be okay. .
Slowly, Thor stood, sliding his hand away. A tear slipped down his cheek, then another, and another. He was crying. Thor has never cried before. .
Loki was concerned, he had never seen Thor cry.
"It's okay, Loki. I'm okay" Thor whispered gently. He reached out his hand, gesturing for Loki to take his hand. Loki slowly placed his hand in Thor's, wrapping his small fingers around his brother's warm hand. Thor smiled. It was time. .
They started to walk onwards on the path, slowly. Each step they took made Thor's heart beat faster and faster. It came to this. He never thought it would be like this, but in the end, Thor would rather be with his brother. He would always choose his brother over everything. He will always stand by his side.
Finally, they stepped into the bright light, together, side by side.
