About a month ago, Zane and Pixal were on a visit to collect a few things from Zane's father's light house. They were after some scrap metal and spare parts to make some machines for Cyrus Borg, Pixal's creator. While they did pick up some scrap metal, they also found something else: a power source very similar to Zane's.
As soon as they saw it, they brought it back to Borg Industries and had Cyrus take a look at it. It was exactly what they thought it was, it was a spare power source that Zane's father had made in case Zane ever needed it. Pixal and Zane knew exactly what to do with it.
Now, after working for about a month, the exo-skeleton of what was soon to be their son was complete.
"Now all I need to do is add the power source we found, and then we'll be parents." Zane said excitedly to his nindroid wife Pixal.
"It certainly is exciting." Pixal said sounding nervous.
"Ready when you are." Zane said pulling the power source out of a briefcase.
"Are you nervous?" Pixal said asking Zane.
"I sense that you are nervous too." Zane said hugging his wife. "Don't worry, we will make great parents Pixal."
"Ok, I am ready." Pixal said, now excited to have a real family.
"Here starts the first day of the rest of our lives." Zane said as he took the power source out, ready to put it in his new son.
Zane inserted the power source into the exo-skeleton and then he and Pixal watched with awe as it's dark eyes lit up with a blue glow and the exo-skeleton started to move on it's own.
"Where am I?" It asked as Zane and Pixal grabbed him and helped him up.
"Easy, how are you feeling?" Zane said to his new made son.
"I... I feel ok." He said. "I am A-1310."
Pixal thought for a second. She couldn't let her new son's name be a number. They already had A, and then the numbers 1 and 3 looked similar to an L and an E. Then the last two numbers were a 1 and a 0. Since X was the Roman numeral for the number ten, that gave her an idea.
"Could we call you Alex?" Pixal asked.
"Alex?" The young nindroid said scratching his chin. "I like that name!"
Zane nodded in agreement and smiled.
"And what do I call you?" Alex asked them.
"I'm your dad and this is your mom." Zane said as he pointed to himself then Pixal.
"Ok. Hello Mom and Dad." Said Alex happily.
Pixal and Zane couldn't help but smile. They finally had a son to call their own after so long.
The rest of the day, they got him settled into his new home. Pixal and Zane showed him all of the things they had set up for him in the past month. He had a bedroom and all kinds of toys and play things, although he found interest in his father's chessboard.
"What is this?" Alex asked pulling a game of chess off the shelf.
"Oh, that is chess, a board game of strategic skill for two players, played on a checkered board." [A/N: Definition taken straight from Google. 😂] Zane said. "Would you like to play?"
"Ok." Alex said.
Zane then set down with his son and taught him how to play. He caught on real quick. Zane let him win the first time, and the second time, and the third time. A few rounds later Zane realized he wasn't letting him win, but he finally had a challenging opponent.
Zane didn't care that he was losing so much, if anything he was proud someone could finally beat him. It was all in good fun anyway, plus his son learned from the best.
"Are you two having fun?" Pixal said as she peered into the room.
"Yes mom." Alex said smiling.
"Zane, I just got off the phone with Lloyd. He wants us to meet at the old monastery tomorrow." Pixal told him. "He said he needed the whole team for something important."
"I think that would be fun." Zane replied. "It would be nice to see everyone again."
"What are you talking about?" Alex asked.
"Me and your mom have to go somewhere tomorrow." Zane said. "Would you like to come?"
"Sure." Alex said eagerly.
"Great. Tell him we will be there." Zane said to Pixal.
"Ok." Pixal said.
"Any idea what he wants?" Zane asked.
"No clue, but he sounded pretty serious on the phone." Pixal answered. "I guess we will find out tomorrow."
"I wonder why he requires the entire team." Zane wondered. "This must be something big."
"Hopefully not too big. We have a son to care for now." Pixal said.
"Do you guys have to leave?" Alex asked.
"I doubt it." Zane said. "I know all of our friends have kids of their own too. If I remember correctly even Lloyd has a son."
"That is correct." Pixal said to Alex. "I'm sure he just wants to see us all again."
"Don't worry son. We are not leaving you, I promise." Zane told Alex.
Both of them gave Alex a hug. It didn't matter if they were made of metal, they were still a family full of love.
