After three hours of trying to sleep, Nick finally rolled out of bed at 4:30 in the morning. After making himself a cup of coffee, Nick walked into the living room. He was planning on finishing Pretty Woman, but when he found Demi laying on the couch, asleep, he couldn’t help but gaze at her.

Even when she slept, she was drop dead gorgeous. Nick reached down with his free hand and gently moved a piece of hair that was covering her face behind her ear. Demi slightly stirred, but she stayed asleep. Nick smiled down at her and memories of last night started playing in his head.

He couldn’t believe how idiotic he had acted when Demi kissed him. Lord knows that Nick had wanted that to happen since he first saw her leaning against the street light on Middlebelt and Eight Mile. He couldn’t fall asleep last night because of that kiss. He kept replaying it in his head and regretted how he reacted to the kiss. Now, she’d probably never kiss him again.

Maybe I could kiss her, Nick thought. He starred at Demi’s lips as she continued her slumber. Was there some way he could kiss her right now and not wake her up? Nick shook his head. Of course not.

He needed to get his mind off Demi and how much he desired for her lips against his. Deciding to finish watching Pretty Woman in the basement, Nick walked over to the DVD player and ejected the disc.

"Nick?" He heard someone mumble. Nick looked over his shoulder to see Demi run her fingers through her long, black hair.

He smiled and faced her. “Hey sleepy head.” He greeted.

"What time is it?" Demi quietly said, half asleep.

"4:30." Nick answered, taking a drink of his coffee.

"Why are we up so early?"

Nick shrugged. “I couldn’t sleep. What’s your excuse?”

Demi covered her mouth with her hand as she yawned. “I have no idea.” She answered

Nick let out a small laugh. “Would you like me to make you breakfast?” He offered.

"You cook?"

"From time to time."

"What do you guys have?"

"Pretty much everything. We’re big breakfast people."

"Do you have pancakes?"

"Of course. You can’t be breakfast people without pancake batter." Nick answered.

"Then let’s get cooking." Demi said with a smile on her face.

One of Nick’s eyebrows rose as he took a step closer to Demi. “Let’s?”

"I’m not letting you have all the fun." Demi remarked, standing from the couch. After she stretched, Demi sent Nick a flirty smile and walked to the kitchen.

A grin appeared on Nick’s face. This morning wasn’t as awkward as he thought it was going to be. In fact, it was going quite smoothly. “Oh, Pubes.” He heard Demi sing from the kitchen.

Nick smiled and headed toward the kitchen. Whatever game they were playing, Nick was loving the way that Demi played.

————————————————————-

When he entered the kitchen, Nick was greeted by the sight of Demi searching in one of their cabinets, bent over. Good thing she was in his baggy clothes. If she was still in her hooker clothes, who knows what else would’ve popped up. Nick closed his eyes. ‘Oh, Lord. Give me the strength to stay out of temptation.’ He quickly prayed. He opened his eyes to find Demi standing up and looking at him.

"Where’s the pancake batter?" She asked.

Nick walked over to the same cabinet Demi was at. He bent over, in search for the pancake mix, unaware that Demi was checking him out.

For a guy, he has a nice butt, Demi thought. She wondered if he had thought about the kiss they shared last night as much as she did. About 10 minutes after Nick went to his room, Demi called her friend, Erica, and explained everything. Talking to Erica helped Demi cool down a little, but she still couldn’t get Nick off her mind. She had been up the majority of the night and was only asleep for maybe 20 minutes before she awoke to find Nick in front of the TV.

The sight of Nick popping back up with a box of Bisquick snapped Demi out of her thoughts. “Let’s go downstairs.” Nick suggested.

"Why?"

"There’s a kitchen down there. And, we won’t have to worry about waking people up."

————————————————————-

"It’s raining men." Nick and Demi sang in unison. They bumped their hips together on the beat following the lyric.

"Hallelujah!" Nick shouted in a high pitched voice, causing Demi to burst out in laughter. Since Demi’s laugh was so contagious, Nick started laughing too.

"That was beautiful." Demi sarcastically said between laughs.

"I think I heard sarcasm in your voice." Nick said, raising an eyebrow.

Demi smirked. “You heard right.”

Nick barely stuck his fingers into the watery pancake mix and pinched a bit of the mix between his fingers. He then flung the watery substance at Demi. It landed across her nose. Demi starred at him in shock.

"You dick!" She said, laughing. She also stuck her fingers into the batter and threw some at Nick.

"Actually, it’s Nick." He joked, flinging more pancake batter at her.

Their little food fight lasted a couple more minutes before Nick suggested that they leave some batter to make the pancakes. Laughing, Demi agreed and the two continued cooking.

"So, no deep talks while we cook?" Demi asked, joking around.

Nick slightly chuckled and shook his head. “Nah. That only happens when we watch movies with hookers in them.” He joked with a wink.

"There’s a TV right there." Demi pointed out, nodding in the direction of the television in front of them. "We could finish the movie while we cook." She suggested.

"Yeah. I’ve been dying to know what happened after that short guy humped Julia Roberts." Nick said with a smile as he poured some mix onto the griddle.

"Well, if you didn’t run off last night, you would’ve known." Demi replied. She intended for it to be a joke, however, it made things slightly awkward. And, to increase the awkwardness, Kiss The Girl from The Little Mermaid started blarring through the iHome speakers.

"First ‘It’s Raining Men’ and now Disney? You have a great taste in music." Demi remarked sarcastically.

"Do you want more pancake batter on your face?" Nick teased, holding up the whisk that was dripping with pancake mix. Demi shook her head and went back to her cooking.

Just as the line ‘There you see her Sitting there across the way' played, Nick glanced over his shoulder at Demi. She was hard at work mixing the ingredients in a bowl. Turning his attention back to the pancakes, Nick quickly flipped them. Then, he returned to looking at Demi.

The lyric ‘There’s something about her' rang in Nick's ears and he had to agree. There was definitely something about Demi that he liked. Smiling, Nick looked down at the pancakes. Realizing that they were done, he used his spatula to lift them off the griddle and placed them on a plate.

"We officially have two pancakes made." Nick announced.

Demi turned to see the two finished pancakes on a plate next to the stove. “Shotie!” She shouted, grabbing the plate and sending Nick a smile.

Shaking his head at Demi’s action, Nick laughed a poured a little more batter onto the griddle to make more pancakes.

The room grew quiet again, except for Kiss The Girl still playing. As Nick cooked, he could vaguely hear Demi singing along to the song. From what Nick could hear, she had a phenomenal voice. Nick looked at her just as the Sha-la-las began and saw Demi swaying her hips to the rhythm. Even in basketball shorts she’s still gorgeous, Nick thought.

That’s when Nick noticed that Demi didn’t have any clothes to wear to church. She obviously couldn’t wear the clothes she had on yesterday and Nick’s clothes wouldn’t work. “What do you plan on wearing to church?” Nick asked as he flipped the pancakes.

Demi shrugged. “Probably what I wore yesterday. Why?”

"Yeah, that’s not gonna work."

Demi stopped stirring and looked over at Nick. “Why not?”

"Well, church is more of a formal thing, no mini skirts and stuff like that." Nick answered.

Demi smirked. “Looks like we’re going shopping.

After Demi and Nick made a dozen more pancakes, they sat down at the table and started to eat.

"These are delicious!" Demi exclaimed after taking a bite of her pancakes.

"I guess we’re good cooks." Nick said. "Eat up. We gotta get going soon."

————————————————————-

"Are you ready yet?" Nick asked Demi as he knocked on the bathroom door.

"One second." Demi responded. She ran her fingers through her hair and took one last look at herself in the mirror. She had changed out of Nick’s clothes and put on the outfit she wore yesterday and her hair still had a curl to it.

After making sure she looked good, Demi exited the bathroom to see Nick standing there.

"Now are you ready to go?" He asked. Demi nodded in response.

"Aren’t your parents gonna flip when they wake up and realize we’re both gone?" Demi quietly asked as they made their way down the steps.

Nick shrugged. “Nah. I left them a note telling them how we went to Vegas to get married.” He joked. He and Demi both laughed, but Demi stopped when she realized what he said.

"Really?" She asked, horrified.

Stopping to face Demi, Nick shrugged. “Maybe…maybe not.” He winked at Demi and continued walking.

Once she figured out that Nick was just playing around, Demi caught up with him and slapped his bicep. “You suck.”

"Isn’t that what you do?" Nick said with another wink. He moved his arms to play the air drums and said, "Ba dum hiss. Hooker puns." Demi couldn’t help but laught at his joke, no matter how corny it was.
