It had been almost five months since that day Jungkook had asked you out on a date, and one hundred days since you had "become official." Consequently, you two were going to celebrate your one hundred day anniversary together today. You were excited of course, you really liked Jungkook, and he made sure that you knew he felt the same. However, it seemed the person most enthusiastic about this anniversary was Mina. Ever since you and Jungkook started dating, she was an avid supporter, always telling you that Jungkook was a really good guy and that you two were perfect for each other. And as much as you hate to sound cheesy, you completely agreed. You and Jungkook had originally planned to casually spend the night in and just watch a movie and spend some time together, but Mina insisted that you two do something a bit more official. So, with her help, you reserved a table for two at a pretty nice restaurant in the nearby bigger city where you and Jungkook would eat and then you would go to a light show in the park. You had your doubts at first, but you ended up liking the idea, so you agreed.
Mina had come over to your house to help you get ready. You had told her that you would be okay to do it on your own, but she always loved helping you get ready and she knew you appreciated it too, so she came over anyway. You showed her a few options of dresses, and you ended up wearing a casual chambray dress with some sandals, making it the perfect outfit for going to a restaurant and then the park in the warming weather. You wore your hair down and Mina helped with your makeup, and as time went by you found yourself getting increasingly nervous about going out tonight.
Your personal life may have been going good with Jungkook, but the town as a whole, was not doing nearly as well. More people had been getting injured at night, earlier in the night than before as well, and no one dared be out past curfew, knowing that the few who did were left in critical condition. No one else had died since the first two people had lost their lives, but there was a dark cloud of fear and despair over the entirety of the population at the moment. You were worried about getting back as late as you would, and you had tried to move up the reservation at the restaurant so you and Jungkook could return earlier, but all reservations were full. You suggested that you instead just cancelled the plans and went back to your original plan of staying in, but Jungkook knew that you would actually be upset if you missed the light show, which you had been looking forward to since you planned it, so he assured you that you would be perfectly safe with him.
Truthfully, in the one hundred days the two of you had been together, you had found that Jungkook found it somewhat difficult to show his feelings, making you think at first that maybe he didn't really reciprocate what you felt for him. However, it was times such as these when he assured you and cared for your well being that you knew he really did care.
Mina is just finishing your makeup as you hear the doorbell downstairs ring, and you don't feel like waiting, nor do you want to make Jungkook wait, so you pull away from Mina's hands and rush down the stairs while Mina yells at you for almost making her ruin the entire makeup look. You laugh and then open the door to see your wonderful boyfriend, dressed in a white button up and some jeans with his Timberland boots, one of your favorite outfits that he wore often. You also noticed that he was carrying a bouquet of flowers, which you point out saying, "Aw, how sweet... and cheesy."
"Only for you," he says, earning a girlish giggle out of you. "Happy anniversary." He places a soft kiss to your forehead as he walks through the door into your house.
"Aren't you two cute?" Mina says sarcastically. "Now come on (y/n), I need to finish your makeup." Jungkook looks flustered, which you assume is from the fact that Mina had just witnessed everything, and knowing him, he wasn't one to show much affection in front of others.
"I think it's fine, Mina. Besides, we should probably be going." You check your phone to see the time. It's getting somewhat late, so you decide that you should go ahead and leave to make sure you arrive on time for your reservation at the restaurant. You take the flowers and hurriedly put them in a vase before you thank Mina and leave with Jungkook as he drives with you into the city for your night out. Jungkook is the type of boyfriend that liked to be touchy in subtle ways, like resting his hand on the small of your back, or putting one hand on your leg from the driver's seat as you sit in the passenger seat of his car. Sometimes, you wished he would be a little more open in his ways of showing to others that he cared, but at the same time, it was these small gestures that made your heart flutter and one of the reasons you had completely fallen for him.
His distance when it came to public displays of affection you were okay with. It was his distance in letting you know more about him that bothered you. You had been together for a little while now, but you had still not yet been to his home or met his family. You had been hesitant to introduce him to your father since he was always at work or not in the right state of mind, but they had briefly met once or twice, which was more than you could say about his family. He had told you, however, that he didn't live with parents, but instead he lived with Jimin, Taehyung, and four others that he considered his brothers for most of his life. Other than that, though, you really didn't know much at all about his personal life. You had apparently been staring while thinking about this because he turned to you while at a stoplight to ask what you had been looking at him for. You shake your head and give a little chuckle and respond, "Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to do that. I was just thinking."
"About what?"
"It's just... I've noticed that I really don't know all that much about you. I feel like you already know so much about me, but I never get to hear about you. And I've never even met your family, so I'm just not sure if you don't want me to meet them for a reason or..." your voice trails off as you continue to contemplate what you are trying to convey.
"To be honest, there isn't much to hear about me, but I'll answer any question you want to ask. And if you want to meet my brothers, I'm sure they would love to meet you as well, so I could introduce you to them."
You smile at his willingness to do whatever it takes to make you feel happy and comfortable. You knew he has difficulty in opening up, but the fact that he was trying to adjust for you reassured you, but at the same time made you feel worse that he was once again focusing on you instead of himself.
You had just finished paying the bill at the restaurant and the two of you left to walk to the park down the street to see the light show. You spend a few minutes watching the multicolored lights in peaceful silence, and you finally work up the courage to gently slide your hand into Jungkook's, not sure how he would feel about holding hands in public. Much to your surprise, and relief, Jungkook glances over to you with a poker face, but when he turns his face back towards the lights, you see a ghost of a smile grace his lips, his hand gripping onto yours a bit tighter than before. You check your phone to see how late it had gotten. It was almost eight o'clock, which normally wouldn't have bothered you, but recently you've been trying your best not to stay out after dark. "It's getting a little late, do you want to head back home?" you suggested to Jungkook.
"If that's what you want to do," he responds with a small, caring smile. You nod your head and the two of you walk back to Jungkook's car, still hand in hand. He stopped you before you could open the car door for yourself, as he did it for you. You laughed a bit at how chivalrous and, quite honestly, old fashioned he could be sometimes. "What is it?"
"Nothing. I guess chivalry isn't dead after all." He laughed, realizing what you were referring to.
"I was taught a long time ago to act in such a way, and I guess it's just become habitual." You couldn't help but wonder who it had been that taught him that. Was it his father? You would have asked, but you were afraid to, not knowing exactly what had happened to his parents and whether he would be okay with talking about it.
You and Jungkook had finally arrived at your house as he parked in front of it, getting out of the car at the same time as you to walk you up to your front door. He walks you up the pathway and onto your front porch and you were about to dig your house keys out of your purse to unlock the front door before he stops you. "So, (y/n), I got you something. I was planning to give this to you earlier, but I couldn't find the right time, so I think now would be fine." He seems a bit nervous as he takes out a simple silver necklace with some sort of pendant on the end that looks somewhat like a locket. It is simple yet elegant and beautiful, and you sincerely appreciate it. But you notice that there's something familiar about it as well. You bring it closer to you face to inspect the pendant a bit more and a scent of something like mint catches your attention.
"It smells kind of like peppermint. What is that?" you inquire.
"It's actually rosemary. There's an herb inside the locket." He pauses after giving a shy smile, but continues with a more serious expression. "I want you to wear that. Like all the time." His mood changed so suddenly and you found yourself wondering why he wanted you to wear the necklace so much, you decide not to question it after seeing the look on his face, but instead leave it for another time. He seems to notice your questioning stare and quickly continues with a sweet smile, "It would really mean a lot to me."
You giggle a bit. Cute, you think, brushing off the uneasy seriousness he had spoken with just before. A chilling wind cuts short your sweet silence as the two of you stare into each other's eyes, and he tells you that you should get inside. "Good night," he speaks quietly, as he places a soft kiss to the top of your head before he turns to leave.
"Good night. Be safe," you say as he walks back to his car, giving you a small wave, which you gladly return as you turn to enter your house.
You walk in to find the familiar smell of alcohol inside your house, calling out, "Dad, I'm home."
He comes around the corner, somewhat stumbling, meaning he had been drinking again. "Where have you been? I came back from work and you were gone, you had me worried," he says with his eyebrows furrowed.
"I told you this morning that I was going out for me and Jungkook's anniversary."
"Who's Jungkook?"
"You've met him before, Dad."
"Really? He doesn't ring a bell. Must not have left much of an impression." You roll your eyes at his rude comments, knowing he had not consciously said those things, but they still bothered you nonetheless. You cut the conversation short by telling him you were going to bed. You preferred talking with him in the little time he spent sober. You walked upstairs to your bedroom and set the box with Jungkook's necklace on your dresser, right next to a picture of your mom. You so badly wished she were there for you to tell her all about how your night went and how wonderful Jungkook was and just talk with her about girl things that you had always grown up imagining you would talk with her about. You feel tears well up in your eyes as you realize that, no, you would never be able to do these things with her like you had planned ever since you were young. And the worst part of it all was, you could barely remember anything from your childhood with her.
It was Sunday morning, and the light shining through your window woke you up, along with a buzz coming from your phone on your nightstand. You see a notification of a text from Jungkook as you lift it to eye level.
Jungkook: Do you want to come over to meet my brothers today?
Your heart skips a beat. Is this really happening? All that time you spent worrying about why he wouldn't introduce you to his family when it turned out that all you had to do was ask? You feel yourself become excited, then nervous, then excited again. You immediately respond.
You: yes!! if it's okay with them... and you
Jungkook: Of course it's okay. They really want to meet you.
Jungkook: Come over whenever. We have nothing going on today.
You replied to tell him you would be on your way soon as you get up to choose an outfit, fretting over what would be considered as appropriate to meet his brothers for the first time. you end up wearing some ripped jeans and a graphic tee, going for a casual look. You brush through your hair, do your makeup, and begin to leave before you quickly turn back into your room remembering an important detail. You walk over to your dresser and take the necklace Jungkook had given you out of its box and put it around your neck. You look in the mirror and smile at the thought that it was a gift from the boy you cared for so dearly. You feel your stare linger a bit longer than you had intended, though, while you can't shake the feeling of familiarity this necklace gives you. You check yourself over one last time as you grab your car keys and head out the door.
You drive to the address that Jungkook had given you and arrive at the front of a nice house. It's big and it even has a gate in the front. You suppose it makes sense for the house to be somewhat big, considering it houses seven people, but you found it hard to believe that boys around your age were able to afford a place like this. You park your car and walk up to the gate, pressing the button on a buzzer which causes a voice to come from a speaker. "Hello?" you hear an unfamiliar voice ask.
"Hi. I'm (y/n). I'm here to see Jungkook," you say, hoping this was the right house and that you wouldn't look strange for turning up at a complete stranger's home. You wait for another sound from the machine, but instead of a response, the gates just open and you see the front door of the house open as Jungkook walks out of it to come greet you. You feel extremely relieved to see him and finally release a breath you didn't even realize you had been holding. "Hey," you say almost breathlessly. "This place is... really nice." You say as you look around the front yard as he leads you up the pathway.
"Thanks," he responds with a laugh. "It's all because of my brothers that we're able to live here, though." You nod as he explains and walks you through the front door. The first two people you see are Jimin and Taehyung, making you sigh in relief to see some familiar faces. They both greet you and you do the same as two more people walk in.
"Ah! You must be Jungkook's girlfriend!" one of them says to you with a bright smile and a teasing voice directed at his younger brother, who you notice seems to be embarrassed by his teasing.
"Ah, hyung," he says sheepishly.
The other man that had walked with the first one to speak was a bit taller, and he seemed to be the oldest of everyone you had seen. "Jungkook has been talking a lot about you," he continues with a sly smirk, further embarrassing Jungkook, even though you wished he wouldn't be embarrassed since you only thought of it as sweet.
The first speaks again, "I'm Hoseok." He gestures to the second and says, "And that's Seokjin hyung."
You smile politely and respond, "It's nice to meet you. I'm (y/n)."
A shorter man with pale skin and an unenthusiastic manner sighs and says with a straight face, "Trust me, we know." He walks out of the room as he finishes. You get the feeling that he doesn't like you and you frown a bit.
"Don't worry. Yoongi hyung is like that with everyone." Another man's voice speaks from behind you. You turn to him as he smiles with a welcoming expression, but you notice that as soon as he sees your face, his smile falters a bit. But he soon puts a smile back on his face as he introduces himself, "I'm Namjoon." You smile back at him, but he soon excuses himself. "Please excuse me for just one moment. Jungkook will you come with me for a second?"
You look to Jungkook who seemed puzzled, but did as he was asked. There was a bit of an awkward silence at first after Jungkook had left, but luckily, Jimin and Taehyung were able to start up a conversation with you, which caused the other boys to chime in as well. Eventually, Jungkook and Namjoon rejoined the five of you in the living room, and you gave Jungkook a questioning look, but he simply shook his head, persuading you not to worry about it. You had noticed, however, that Yoongi had not come back into the room, further raising your suspicions that he didn't like you.
You had spent quite a while chatting with and getting to know Jungkook's brothers, and Yoongi had even come down for a little while at the request of Seokjin, the eldest brother, although he still didn't have anything to say. Jungkook was walking you out to your car as you thank him for having you over and letting you meet his family.
"Of course," he responds. "They seem to like you a lot."
"Well, most of them..." you say below a whisper, not really wanting him to hear, but he somehow is still able to.
"What do you mean?"
You furrow your eyebrows in thought, "Well, Yoongi didn't seem to like me all that much." You end it with a humorless laugh, upset with yourself for not being able to make a good first impression on all of Jungkook's family.
"Yoongi hyung is like that towards everyone, even me," he says, trying to cheer you up. But you knew him well enough by now to know that there was something that he knew that he was leaving out, probably for the sake of your feelings. "There's no need to worry about it, you're so great that even he will be able to see it. And that's saying a lot."
You feel yourself blush a bit and scold him, "You flatter me too much."
"You deserve to be flattered," he says with a completely serious expression. Hearing this causes your face to heat up even more. But you also can't help but let a smile make its way onto your face. You'd never guess it from Jungkook's exterior, but this boy was a romantic through and through. He saw you off as you drove back home, thankful for the boy that had made his way into your life these past months.
Jungkook POV
Jungkook walked back into the house, thoroughly relieved and pleased that the boys had seemed to like (y/n). He began to walk up the stairs to his room, but found himself quickly pushed into the nearest wall. "What the hell do you think you're doing, Jungkook?" He looked to see Yoongi staring him down, anger evident in his eyes.
"Hyung, what do you mean?"
Yoongi let out a cynical laugh, saying, "I know you haven't forgotten about Elizabeth... about what she did."
"I'm sorry, hyung, but I don't how that has anything to do with this. Besides, you seem to be the only one upset about this."
"It has everything to do with this! And I have every right to be upset about it!" He paused. He threw his hands up in the air in frustration. "I really tried to keep you from having to go through this. I tried to help you all, but you were all too stubborn. Especially you! And now this? All I have to say is... Don't come to me when it all comes crashing down. Because trust me it will. You know what they say: Like mother like daughter." He finishes and walks away, leaving Jungkook speechless. He had never even thought about how this could possibly have affected Yoongi. But he knew there was no turning back now. He had fallen completely and utterly in love with (y/n).
