The Hospital Wing is empty, except for a bed in the back. Amelia wakes up with a groan as she feels the ache of her ribs as she sits up. She looks down at her lap and smiles at the sleeping Frida. Amelia wonders how she got there, she only remembers throwing up after Dumbledore asked her a question. Her ears perk up at the sound of some footsteps heading her way.
"Come back tomorrow, she has to rest." A woman voice says quickly.
"Madam Pomfrey, we have to discuss with Miss Richardson about what happened this evening. We will be quick." A man says making Amelia look at the window. She wakes up Frida and gives her a kiss on the snout.
"Vigila. (Guard)." She whispers in her ear. Frida hops off and walks next to the curtain that block her view. She pulls off her covers and stands up. Amelia looks down at her bandaged up chest with a frown. She looks at the clothes on the chair next to her and starts changing her clothes. Suddenly Frida growls.
"I suggest you stop walking, mister. She will attack if you approach me before I call her." Amelia says as she pulls up her pants.
"Miss Richardson, we have some questions about the events that occurred this evening." The man says as he sits next to the curtain.
"Yes, I heard you." She groans as she pulls her shirt over her head.
"Are you okay, Miss Richardson?" The man says worryingly. Amelia buttons up her old flannel.
"Yep. Frida, ven (come). You can come over now." Amelia says as she begins putting her shoes on. Suddenly the man emerges from the curtain and stares down at the small girl with confusion. Doubt begins to cloud his mind, but he knows better than to judge a book by its cover.
"Can you please tell me what authorities do you work for? I do not believe I have seen you before. And by how you are looking at me, I can see that you are some type of detective." Amelia points out as she finishes tying her shoes and stands up slowly. She winces at the movement, but stands in the pressence of authority.
"You can ask. I am a auror from the Ministry of Magic." Amelia raises a eyebrow at him. He chuckles at her before explaining.
"We protect the wizarding world from Dark wizards." Amelia nods at his words before making the bed and heading out. She starts to leave, but is stopped by Madam Pomfrey.
"Young lady, what are you doing up? Get back into that bed." She starts ushering her back.
"Madam Pomfrey, I am fine. I just need to talk to this man in Dumbledore's presence. I am still a minor, I need my caretaker to be present while I am being interrogated." Amelia explains to the nurse.
"I am not interrogating you. I am just want to know what happened." The man says as he stands behind her. Amelia turns around and scoffs at him.
"Yeah right, and I am not a witch." She says sarcastically. She goes to argue with Madam Pomfrey, but a voice cuts her off.
"Get back into bed, Miss Richardson, before you give Madam Pomfrey a heart attack." She looks at Severus before turning around and heading back. She puts aside the curtain wall and sit down on the bed.
"I do not appreciate you bombarding my students with your silly questions, Shacklebolt." Severus says as they stand in front of Amelia.
"Sir, I don't mind it. He is just doing his job and I respect him for that. Now hit me with your questions." Amelia says as she unties her shoes.
"Okay, thank you. It would be easier for us to resolve this if you let us see your memories." Amelia takes off her shoes and sets them aside. She puts the divider back in place, blocking their view. She starts to undress and change.
"No, how do I know that you will not venture farther in? I don't like strangers invading my mind." Amelia says as she puts on her hospital pants. She looks at the shirt with a frown.
"Madam Pomfrey! Do you have any shirts that buttons up?! It bothers me putting this one on." Amelia shouts out as she pops her head out by the side of the curtain.
"Sorry, I do not. I do not own a shop here you know." The nurse says jokingly. Amelia sighs and looked at the floor.
"Fuck." She mutters lowly before quickly getting back behind the curtain.
"Five points off of Hufflepuff for vulgar language" Amelia bites her tongue so not to say another curse word. She puts on her dad's flannel and buttons it up. She pulls away the divider before getting into bed.
"So what happened was, I accidentally bumped into Thomas on my way into the Great Hall. He starts talking shhhh- hype about stuff, trying to rile me up. He then pushes me after making a comment. A parcel my parents got me for my birthday fell out of my bag-" "Happy birthday" Shacklebolt interrupts her.
"-Thank you. He opens it up and throws some books my mom got me and then he took a necklace my dad gave to me. He then starts running to the black lake and I chase him. He threw the necklace into the lake and i went after it.
As i came back to the shore, i saw that they were messing with my dog, Frida. By the way this is Frida, as you can see from the the newly made scratches on her, she was attacked. I was furious and I made my way up to them, then they threw the first spell. Two of the boys ran away, leaving only three. I was on the defensive during the beginning, until I noticed that they weren't stopping and they started to surround me. I took out the boy with the long hair first, then the blonde one. Thomas was the last one, he threw me a crucio curse and I threw him another curse. I threw up and black out. I don't remember how I got here." Amelia finishes explaining with a sigh. Shacklebolt looks at her with a frown.
"The boys made another story." Amelia looks up at him with a furrowed brow.
"What do you mean?" The man sits down at the end of her bed and looks at her.
"They told me that you attacked them first and used dark magic against them." Amelia scoffs at the accusation and winces at the action.
"Bull. Why don't you go inside their memories?" Amelia asks in disbelief.
"Their parents have denied the request. Without their guardians permission, we cannot venture into their memories. Now, we do have your parents permission to do so. But we still need your confirmation." Amelia sighs and closes her eyes as her back hits the pillow.
"I am in for hell week when I get back home... do it, but when I push out you better leave." Amelia says as she pulls up the scene. The man points his wand at her and enters her mind.
Amelia pants as she manages to push him out at the end of the scene. She looks at Severus before looking back at the auror.
"Battling three wizards at the same time, you were going easy on them... well done kid, i can see that you were defending yourself. We will mark this up as self defense. Now, I have to go and talk to Mister Slater, he used a unforgivable curse." He says as he stands up. He looks down at Amelia and smiles at her.
"If you ever want to become an auror, write to me. You got skills, kid." He winks at her before leaving. Severus looks down ar her for a second, before leaving her. Amelia sighs and closes her eyes.
~~~~~~
The fight replays in her mind. The blood in her veins burn like fire. She felt unstoppable. The rush and adrenaline that surge in her body as the spells were thrown her way was addicting. A fire was ignited inside of her, it was like nothing she has ever experienced before. She watched as they start surround her, after she knocked out one of the boys... she was starting to feel like her skills were being put to use. A sadistic grin appears in her face as she rushes to defend herself. Suddenly it was just her and Thomas, she shields each spell and walks foward him. Her body archs and slumps to the floor when he mutter crucio. She attacks him and stands up. Suddenly in front of her stands Severus, looking down at her. The fire in her eyes still burns as she looks up at him. The sight of him brought another flame to life inside of her. She keeps still as she watches him, controlling herself. She is too familiar by his presence.
"It is not nice to invade my dreams, Professor." Amelia grumbles as she wakes up from her sleep. She looks at the man sitting in a chair at the end of her bed. She looks at the empty hospital wing as she scratches her head.
"You still have to improve.... where did you learn that spell?" Severus says while closing his robe. Amelia throws him a glance before standing up.
"What spell?" Amelia feigns innocence as she rummages through her stuff at the nightstand next to her.
"Don't play daft, little girl." He says annoyed. Amelia grabs her bag and shoves her stuff inside.
She turns around to leave, but takes a step back and bumps against the nightstand when she notices that Severus was behind her.
He watches her from under his nose and smirks at the sight of being startled. She clears her throat and stares up at him.
"Tell me, Miss Richardson." He says in his usual soft tone. Amelia grips her bag and sighs.
"I don't know what you mean, sir." Her feign ignorance irritates Severus.
Amelia is trying her best not to inhale his scent. Her heartbeat is starting to speed up by his intense stare, but she keeps her face neutral, impossible to read. She doesn't know why she has such reactions with him and only him. She grunts as she feels him pushing her walls inside her mind. She sends a small glare towards him, before she rolls over the bed and stands at the other side. She escapes before he can grab her arm. Her ribs still hurt, especially after doing that movement. She runs out of the Hospital Wing with Frida by her heels. She knows that Severus would only follow her to her room, so she decides to go around the castle at least once before going to her room.
Suddenly she falls on her knees as her ribs hurt to much for her to breath.
"What are you doing out at this hour?- Amelia?" She looks up as she holds her chest with her arm.
"We-Weasley, I was going to ask you the same thing." Amelia wheezes out. The boy rushes over to her and kneels down on one knee,putting a hand on her back.
"Are you okay? Do you need to go to the Hospital Wing?" He says as he looks at her for injuries. Amelia laughs and groans at the same time.
"I just escaped from there. I am on my way to my room, my ribs started to hurt to much." Amelia says as she slowly stands up. Bill follows her movements.
"Where is your room? Down at the basement? I can go with you, I can't have you dying during my rounds." Bill says jokingly. Amelia scoffs at his words and slaps his arm away from her back.
"Do you really think I am that weak? It is on the fourth floor" Amelia rolls her eyes and starts to walk away. She shrieks as she is suddenly picked up. She automatically puts a arm across Bill's shoulder as he starts carrying her bridal style.
"What do you think you are doing?" Amelia says in disbelief. He glances down at her before continuing to walk towards the stairs.
"My duties as a prefect. Making sure that all students are in their beds... it would have taken you an eternity to climb up these stairs." Bill points out. Amelia looks at Frida and is surprised to see that she is cool at Bill holding her like that.
"Worst guard dog ever." She says jokingly, making Bill look down at her and laugh.
"So... from what were you running from?" Bill asks, trying to start conversation. Amelia sighs and looks down at the bag on her lap.
"Snape... he wanted to ask me questions about what happened during the fight, I wasn't up to it." Amelia lies easily. Bill hums in understanding.
They soon arrive to the fourth floor. Amelia gives him the directions. She can't deny how comfortable she feels being carried by Bill, but she wants to be held by other arms.
"Are you going to the game tomorrow? It is the last game of the season." Bill asks as they turn the corner.
"Not really. Never been a fan of sports. Well, only boxing." Amelia has always been studying during the Quidditch games. Dianna has tried to persuade her to go to one, but it has never interested her.
"Well, go to this one. I am playing. Maybe if you see how one maneuvers the broom it can help you learn how to deal with one." Bill says as they enter her hall. Amelia looks at her lap in thought.
"I never thought of that. I think I will go." Amelia pats his chest before getting away from his hold. She turns around and gives him small wave.
"Thanks Bill, you didn't have to do that." Amelia says nicely. The boy smiles at her as he rubs his neck at her words.
"No problem, just helping out a friend. Good night, rest and heal. You need all your strength for the game tomorrow." He says before turning around and walking away. Amelia smiles at his retreating form, before going the opposite way from him to her door. Her face looks at the ground with a sad smile.
"It is not nice to eavesdrop on people, sir." Amelia says as she opens her door, letting Frida enter first before entering herself and closing the door.
She looks up at him as he stands leaning next to her. She goes over to her trunk and opens it, she takes out a granola bar and throws it on top of her bed before grabbing some clean clothes and going to her shower. She looks at the bandages and starts to slowly unwrap them.
"Oof, I will have to cut down my training for a while." She says softly to herself as she sees the giant bruise at the left side of her torso. She carefully takes a shower. She puts on her boxers and wraps the towel carefully around her torso before walking out. She goes to her trunk and takes out her first aid kit that her father gave her.
"Professor, i thought you left." Amelia says as she looks for the bandages, she also takes out some pain killers.
"I don't appreciate my students running away from me when I am asking them something." He says looking bored as usual.
Amelia throws him a glance before leaving to the bathroom with the bandages. She wraps her entire torso before putting on a long sleeve shirt, the one Severus gave her during her detention. She wraps her hair up with her towel before returning to her room. She grabs the granola bar and sits down on her desk.
"I am surprised you didn't invite the young Weasley inside." Amelia turns around her chair and carefully crosses her arms.
"I don't see why I should have had, sir." Amelia says a bit annoyed by his implications. He still lurks in the darkness, the light of her desk lamp doesn't reach him, making it seem like she is talking to nobody.
"Stop pretending to be daft, woman. You know of the glances he has thrown you. Most girl would swoon over him." Severus says getting irritated by her. Amelia scoffs at him and turns around to take out her books.
"It is a bit hurtful that you think I am like most women. He is only a friend." Amelia explains to him. She then stops her movements and looks at his with irritation.
"And why the hell must I explain myself to you?" Amelia says in annoyance.
He doesn't like the way she is talking to him. He pushes himself off of the wall as she turns around to her books. Amelia freezes as she feels him slowly grab her shoulder, one finger at the time, emphasizing his hold. It is a dominance play, Amelia has been taught how to play in this situation. She has also been in such situation when she was younger.
"I don't appreciate your attitude, Miss Richardson." He growls slowly as he leans down to her ear level.
"And I don't appreciate the intimidating role you are playing. I suggest you take your hand off of me, before I do something we will both regret." Amelia's tone is serious. His grip on her shoulder tightens a bit.
"Is that a threat, Miss Richardson?" He says slowly and calmly in his usual tone. This only made it scarier.
"It is a warning...sir." She turns her head and looks at his eyes, not backing down in the battle of dominance. He stares down at her like if he was staring down at her soul, with unforgiving eyes.
"Where did you learn that spell?" He says slowly. Amelia looks at him with a bored expression.
"I don't know. It came to me in my sleep." Amelia lies easily, but her poker face is award-winning.
"Do. Not. Lie. To me." He says slowly as his grip gets tighter with each word and his face gets closer to hers.
She keeps calm. Her honey like gold eyes stare down at his black like coal ones, knowing that if she backs out, he gets what he wants. As soon as it happened he suddenly pulls away and leaves.
As soon as the door closes, Amelia let's out the breath she didn't know she was holding and rests her head against her desk in relief. Her ears redden at the thought of the sudden closeness of both. She drags both hands down her face in exhaustion.
"Frida, what am I supposed to do with him?" She mumbles to herself.
