"Lark? Why aren't you dressed?" Dad yelled at her.

"Because I'm hungry, duh," she rolled her eyes as she ate.

Dad took her food from her and pointed to the upstairs. "March!"

"Fine," she groaned as she went upstairs to get dressed.

You know for someone gets married today, you would think they would be busy getting ready, not Larkin. She would rather eat.

Ma and my sisters helped her get dressed, so we could get to Grampa's and nana's house on time since that's where we're having her wedding.

After wrangling her into her dress and doing her hair, she finally got ready. The rest of us were all ready for the wedding.

We left and drove over to our grandparents' house. The minute we walked in, everyone was talking at once.

"Hey!" Dad yelled to get everyone's attention. Everyone stopped and looked at him.

"What took you so long?" Grampa asked.

"Well, the bride decided she needed to eat," he said with a look at Larkin.

"There is never a bad time for food," she told him.

"Okay, now the bride is here, we can get started since the groom looks like he's about to hurl," nana told us.

"He's such a drama queen," Larkin sighed.

My sisters took their place with Piper while I went to stand with the others. There's nothing as being the last person here while everyone else sits.

We all stood there as we watched Grampa and nana take their seats. Nathan escorted Ma, while Nixon stood at the front as the minister.

Then the music started as Dad came into view with Larkin. As the music played, we watched as he walked her down the aisle to the front. I had to say; it was nice to see my sister happy. Maverick made her happy.

Once they got to the front, Dad kissed her on the cheek and handed her off to Maverick. He took her hand, and they turned to face Nixon.

"Dearly beloved, it gathers us today to join these two yutzes in holy matrimony. Yes, I said yutz because that's what they are," Nixon said.

We stood there looking at him questionably.

"Anyway, do you take Lark here to be your wife, Maverick? You do because if you don't and you hurt her, I will break your legs," he threatened Maverick.

"Nixon!" Dad yelled.

"You hush. You already had your day," he told Dad.

Dad sat there and grumbled.

He turned to Larkin, "Lark, my favorite quint."

We all looked at him.

"That's right. I said it. So ha! Anyway, do you take twit here to be your hubby?"

She looked at Maverick. "Yes."

"Good. Now that we got that taken care of here. I wanted to say a few words," Nixon said.

"Christ, here we go," Dad said to Ma as she sighed.

He turned to Maverick, "Lark has been through a lot of stuff and dealt with more than any person should. But I watched how you handle it. You never once mistreated her because of it but knew what was best for her. Lark and I had always had this bond, and all I want is her to be happy. Please take good care of her."

Maverick looked at Nixon then at Larkin. "I plan on it."

We watched as a smile grew upon my sister's face. With Larkin, you could never tell if she was happy or not. Today she was happy, and it showed.

"Now, you two can suck face," Nixon declares as Maverick pulled her into a kiss.

"Finally, a brother," I said as they all looked at me. "What? I got Dad. We need more guys in this family."

My sisters rolled their eyes; the truth hurts.

Now it was onto the reception. We all mingled, and Larkin and Maverick made their rounds, then made their way to the food, nothing new there.

As we ate, it was time for the speeches. Major went first.

"Mav, what can I say, brother? You finally met someone that can handle your shit," Major said.

We laughed.

"But honestly, I'm glad you found someone that makes you happy. It's been a long time coming, and you deserve it. Thank you, Larkin, for making my brother happy. Cheers!" Major toasted.

We all toasted, and next was Lyric.

"Lark, all of us were there when you went through your toughest time, and to see you happy with someone that loves you, means everything to us. You're our fellow quint. When you hurt, we hurt. When you're happy, we're glad. You deserve today. You've earned it. Cheers!" Lyric toasted.

We all toasted, then finally Dad said something.

"Baby girl, bringing you into this world was the second-best day of my life. The first was marrying your mother. As a father, you never want to let go of your children. You want to keep them close but realize that one day, you need to let them go. I love you, Larkin, and one day, I hope you are as happy as your ma and me. Take good care of her, Maverick," he toasted.

We watched as Lark got up and ran over to Dad, throwing her arms around his neck as he hugged her, "I love you, Dad."

"I love you too, baby girl."

It was a hug he needed. Sometimes a father needs a hug.

After we ate, it was the first dance, followed by the father and daughter dance. Then came the mother and son dance, which Maverick stood there, looking down.

"We can skip this dance," he mumbled as we watched him.

"Or you can dance with your mother," someone said as he looked to see Ma standing in front of him with her arms out. "I know I'm not your mother, and no one can replace her, but if you don't mind, I would love to dance with you."

"It would honor me," he said as he took her hand.

We all watched as Ma danced with Maverick, knowing his mother couldn't. Sometimes we need that one person here.

As the reception was in full swing, we all had a good time. Us, Grays love a good wedding.

Finally, Larkin and Maverick were off for their honeymoon. When they came back, we would have another wedding. Yeah, it would be a busy time for us.

"Just think, one day, this will be us," Piper said.

"Yeah, I can't wait," I said as I pulled her to me. I leaned down and kissed Piper. It would set us to marry after Lyric and Michael; then, we would leave for our honeymoon and then start a life together. I couldn't wait to make Piper my wife.
