A young, and human looking Keith, sits on the couch, the news playing in the background as he read a book that was simply called 'Carry on'. He didn't really care for the news, but he'd liked to have background noise so he feels less alone until Adam gets back.
"Hey Keith" Adam says, opening the door, holding a bag that contained Chinese takeout. "I got dinner"
"Thanks" Keith called over his shoulder, not tearing his eyes from the book.
Keith turned the volume up as Adam was reaching for some plates.
"And back to you Hana" the weather man said.
"Thank you Jim" Hana, the news lady says. "For this todays news we would like to talk about..."
Keith had slightly tuned Hana out, he really didn't want to hear her, but it seems as though it wasn't even a minute until he heard something that made him slam his book shut and look up at the screen.
"I-it appears as though the brave pilots who were sent on the Kerberos mission have sadly passed away in a piloting error earlier this evening." Hana says, mournfully. "The pilots who have passed are Sam and his son Matthew Holt, as well as Takashi Shirogane."
There was silence in the house, the only sound made was that of plates falling and ultimately crashing into several pieces onto the tile floor.
"What..." Keith mutters "t-that can't..."
Keith was unable to put together a complete sentence, he was in shock.
Adam, meanwhile, has his mind in a loud and angry buzz. Some of it cursing himself out for not bothering to see Shiro off, or for getting mad at Shiro for even suggesting that he should go to space.
"That...that is complete bull sh-" Keith nearly swore until he looked over and saw how much of a mess Adam currently was in. "ADAM?!"
Keith jumped over the couch and headed over to him.
"O-oh God...Shiro.." Adam mutters through broken sobs. "I-I'm so, so sorry!"
"Adam! It's going to be alright, besides that news report was nothing more than a lie!" Keith says, standing on his tippie-toes so he could hug Adam, which was the best(only) way he knew how to make him feel better.
"Fake? Keith, I know this is a lot to process, but things happen, especially death, and-" Adam tries to say while keeping himself calm.
Keith stops hugging Adam as he backs away, careful not to step onto the shards of the broken plate.
"Adam, you honestly expect that it was really a piloting error? They are one of the best that the Galaxy Garrison has to offer. I doubt that it's a freaking error!" Keith yells, making sure to A: not go into conspiracy theory mode (and yet somehow failing a little) and B: not swear.
"Keith..." Adam sighs "I know that this is a lot to take in, but.."
"No! Shiro isn't dead! Something must've happened!" Keith says.
"Look, I know that you and Takashi were close, but you have accept that he's-" Adam got cut off when Keith turned on his heal and then ran out of the room.
"Keith?!! Wait!!" Adam yells, chasing after the mullet child.
Keith made a sharp turn into his room as he slammed the door shut. Adam was close to Keith's room when Keith blasted the song 'The Pitiful Children' loudly on his speakers. Adam backed away from the door, heaving a heavy sigh.
Just give him some time. Adam thought hopefully this would be all cleared up soon.
Inside the room, Keith laid on his back staring at the ceiling. His mind in a loud buzz. He knew that Shiro and the rest of the pilots couldn't be dead, something must've happened.
Maybe they knew too much and the Garrison hid them away? Keith theorizes or maybe they got caught by an alien race...nah Keith, that can't be, alien s? Really? There's no such thing, is there?
Time went on and on, Keith never really left his room other than for basic human needs (although he did bring some of the Chinese food that Adam got into his room, as to eat in peace). Keith was furious that Adam could believe such fake news that he refused to say anything to him for the rest of the night and the next morning...
"Keith? Everything alright?" Adam asks in a soft voice.
Keith kept his lips sealed as he grabbed a water bottle from the back of the fridge.
"Look, if you want to talk about it.... you're free to discuss it whenever." Adam says.
Keith glares at Adam before he left for another day of classes. The classes themselves seemed to drag on and on, Keith was considering just packing up his things and running out of here to escape the boredom.
"Kogane!" Iverson says loudly. "Could you please pay attention?"
"Screw you" Keith mutters softly.
"What did you say?!" Asks Iverson.
"I said 'screw you'" Keith said.
"Cadet, that is no way to-" Iverson says, loudly with anger in his voice.
"WHAT HAPPENED ON KERBEROS?!" Keith yells.
The other students began to talk amongst themselves, some of them shocked that anyone would talk to Iverson in such a manner.
"It was a piloting error!" Iverson answers "nothing more nothing less"
"NO! THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN! IT WAS NOT AN ERROR! ARE YOU TRYING TO COVER SOMETHING UP IVERSON?!!!" Keith shouts, standing up and slamming his hand down harshly onto the desk. His chair hitting the floor with a loud crash.
"Kogane, calm down and take your seat or else I'll-" Iverson says.
Keith was filled to the brim with red hot, burning anger. His vision became blurred as anger consumed everyone bone in his body. Iverson could've sworn that he saw Keith's eyes glow yellow as Keith's right hand formed a fist. Quickly, faster than anyone in the class could've seen, Keith punched Iverson dead in the right eye. There was a collective gasp of shock.
"Congratulations Kogane" comments James Griffin "you are now on your way to being-'
"SHUT YOUR PIE HOLE GRIFFIN!!!" Keith screamed.
Iverson held a hand over his right eye.
"Kogane! the office, now!" Iverson commands.
"Pff! Fine!" Keith say in a huff, collecting his things.
(An: I added Shiro going missing to the list of reasons why this happened in chapter 2)
-------------------------------------------------------------
It was dinner time, and Keith just kept stabbing at his pancakes. He was clearly in a bad mood, not even the smiley face on the pancakes could cheer him up.
"Mind talking about it Keith?" Adam asks in a stern tone.
"What is there to talk about" Keith sighs angrily.
"Well, now this is what I heard, you said 'screw you' to a teacher, yelled at said teacher, punch that teacher in the face, and told a fellow student to 'shut his pie hole'" Adam then took a long sip of his coffee.
"James was being annoying" Keith utters.
"Keith..I know that you are going through a lot, however that doesn't excuse your behavior today" Adam reminded him.
Keith said nothing, he just glanced at Adam as he stabbed at the strawberry ontop of the pancake with his fork and slowly ate it.
"Talk to me Keith!" Adam shouted.
"Alright, fine, how about this. Why are we, or more importantly you, not planning to go find Shiro?" Keith says.
"Keith, I'm not sure how many times I have to say this, but Shiro's dead. It's not healthy to constantly lie to yourself like this." Adam tells Keith.
"Where's the proof that-" Keith tried to say.
"Keith, there wouldn't be any, they were far out into space and-" Adam was getting down to his last nerve, his patience was running thin.
"THEN WHY DIDN'T THEY SEND SOMEONE OUT THERE TO INVESTIGATE?!!" Keith yells, slamming his fist on the table.
"THAT'S IT!!"
Adam stood up from the table. He really did like Keith, but he was furious that Keith refused to listen and that he got expelled earlier that day.
"KEITH KOGANE! I KNOW THAT YOU ARE JUST AS UPSET AS I AM! BUT, COULD YOU PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, STOP WITH YOUR STUPID THEORY! SHIRO IS DEAD! YOU JUST NEED TO WAKE UP AND FACE REALITY" Adam yells at Keith.
"So you're saying I'm the stupid one?" Keith asks. "I'm sorry but Shiro is my brother, and-"
"No he's not, he just adopted you because he felt pity for you!"
Wait, why did I say that?! That's not true in the slightest! Adam thought.
Keith was dead silent, he just glared at Adam, trying to hold back tears.
Oh god! What have I done? I'm going to burn in hell for this! Adam thought frantically.
"Keith, I'm sorry. I-i don't-"
Keith got up from his chair and then escapes into his room. Adam tried to follow, only to have the door slammed in his face. He knocked loudly on the door, hoping, praying, that Keith would open the door and listen.
"Keith? Keith?! I'm sorry! I-i didn't mean it!" He shouts "I don't know what came over me."
"Go away!!" Keith yells through the door.
"Keith, please listen to me, I'm-"
"I TOLD YOU TO GO AWAY!"
Keith, I'm sorry. I didn't mean it.

11:36
Keith stared at the clock, that's what he's been doing for quite a while now. He then stared at his backpack. In a huff, he got out of bed, emptied it, and then stuffed some clothes in there. He grabbed one of the small hippo plushies off of his bed and put it inside his bag for good luck, as well as a knife that he had for as long as he can remember.
He opened the closet, hello old pal, and grabbed the suitcase.
He carefully snuck into the kitchen, making sure to not make a sound, so Adam wouldn't wake up. He stuffed the suit case with some canned goods and a can opener. Before he walked out the door, he saw Adam's wallet laying on the coffee table. After thinking about it for a couple of seconds, he raided through it until he had sixty dollars in his pocket leaving only a couple of ones for Adam.
He slowly reached for the knob.
AN: I'm making this a separate story on its own, I'll update you on when it is out, okay?
