If you look in the mirror and don't like what you see
You can find out first hand what it's like to be me.

Grace was annoyed.

"Why wouldn't she just tell me this then? I'm over here hurt thinking she doesn't like me at all when she actually does!"

Finn sighed at her, "Because this is exactly what she didn't want. You're getting hopeful and Sadie made it pretty clear that she wasn't getting into a relationship with you. She's scared of her parents and she isn't even sure of her label."

"She doesn't even need a label," Grace said, "and her parents don't have to know."

"Yes but she doesn't want to keep that from them Grace. You have to respect her feelings," Finn replied back.

Grace sighed and groaned, "I know I do and I'm going to. It just kind of sucks knowing that we can't act on it you know?"

Finn nodded, "Maybe she just needs time."

"What if she ends up with too much time and stops liking me though," Grace pointed out.

Finn shrugged, "Then that's it Grace, we can't do anything about that."

They both fell silent but Finn could tell that Grace was thinking. He could practically see her head working, coming up with all sorts of elaborate plans to get Sadie and herself together.

"I just wish I could talk to her again. At least so we could be friends," Grace said as she plopped herself onto the bed in the guest room.

She had stayed the night the night before, after their lunch, and she and Finn had spent the day together while Millie was off in meetings all day.

"You can though, just talk to her. She's still in town and she will be for the next two weeks I think," Finn said.

Grace shook her head immediately, "No way. Theres no way I can even look at her after the stunt I pulled yesterday."

"Then how do you expect to be her friend?" Finn said with exhaustion.

Grace shrugged and looked at her lap. Her eyes suddenly lit up and she looked at Finn with a smile growing on her face.

"You could talk to her for me!"

Finn shook his head, "The both of you need to stop avoiding each other and just talk!"

"Well there's a good reason for that. Besides, why should I have to talk to her when you can do it for us?" Grace said.

"I'm not your guys' messenger," Finn rolled his eyes.

Grace smirked, "Aw but you're so good at it."

Finn looked to Grace with an annoyed expression and flipped her off. She blew him a kiss and gave him a pleading look, asking him to talk to Sadie without any words. He shook his head and Grace whined like a baby, popping her bottom lip out.

"Fine! Just stop doing that, ugh," Finn groaned giving in.

Grace smiled widely and jumped up, Thank you! You're the bestest friend ever!"

Finn pushed her off of him as she pulled him into a hug, "Bestest isn't even a word!"

Grace smiled widely, "It is in my book because you're the bestest."

Finn was patiently waiting for Sadie to show up.

Millie had been gone most of the day shooting a commercial for some shoe company, and she insisted that Finn stay home and relax. He took up the offer then, and decided that he would invite Sadie over so he could finally talk to her like he told Grace he would. Millie would be back soon, so he wanted to try and get this over with fast so that he would have time with her.

The doorbell rang and Finn got up, making his way over to the door. He opened it up and Sadie smiled at him.

"Hey," she said as she hugged him.

He gave a polite hello and gestured for her to come in, the both of them sitting on the couches in the first living room comfortably.

"So I'm just going to get straight to the point," Finn started.

Sadie nodded, having a pretty good idea of why Finn had called her over.

"I talked to Grace."

Sadie nodded with a small smile and Finn could see hope flash through her eyes.

"She understands why you don't want to be in a relationship and she really just wants your friendship back," Finn explained.

Sadie nodded again.

"She also wanted me to tell you because she didn't want to have to deal with the awkwardness that would come with trying to make up," Finn said with a small laugh.

"I'll talk to her," Sadie smiled.

Finn scoffed, "Was it really that easy? God you guys made it seem so complicated."

Sadie giggled, "I think I'm just really trying to come to terms with things you know? I don't want it to be weird. Grace and I were amazing before all of this mess so I just want that again."

Finn nodded, "That's good."

They were quiet for a few seconds before Sadie spoke up.

"So how are you and Millie?"

"We're great. I uh, told her I loved her recently..." Finn trailed off.

Sadie's eyebrows raised, "No way! That's great."

Finn nodded and Sadie caught on to his bothered look right away.

"Or not great? Why the face?" Sadie asked.

Finn bit his lip, "it's just...it's nothing."

Sadie sighed and stood up. She walked over to the couch that Finn was sitting on and sat next to him. He looked over and she raised her eyebrows.

"Tell me," she said quietly.

"But you're her friend. Her best friend. I don't need you telling her this and having her worry," Finn said.

Sadie gave Finn a weak smile, "I won't tell her, I promise."

Finn didn't know if he should trust Sadie or not. He took a deep breath in, figuring he didn't have much to lose anyway.

"Millie didn't say it back. She still hasn't."

Sadie nodded and her eyebrows furrowed a little, "When did you tell her?"

"Tomorrow will be exactly a week," Finn replied without missing a beat.

Sadie raised her eyebrows now, "You've been counting. So it's a big deal to you?"

Finn nodded, "Well yeah. It's only normal for me to want the girl I love to love me back right?"

"Yeah, sorry that was a dumb question," Sadie said.

"No it wasn't," Finn replied before pausing, "It's not even like I really care a bunch you know? I don't want to rush her or make her feel like she has to say it back."

Sadie nodded, "She probably just needs time. I mean the last time a guy told her he loved her, he ended up cheating."

Finn nodded, knowing straight away that Sadie was talking about Jacob.

"Why does she deny that so much, the whole cheating thing?" he asked.

Sadie sighed, "I think she just doesn't want to believe it, you know? Stacked along with him making her feel dumb for believing it, she's convinced herself that it was fake."

Finn shook his head, "He really manipulated her that bad?"

Sadie nodded, "He isn't a good person. I'm just glad that he's out of her life now, she doesn't need someone bringing her down like that."

Finn nodded, "She really-"

"Babe I'm home!"

Both of their heads turned as they saw Millie walking into the living room. She stopped short and her eyes went between the two of them quickly.

"S-sadie what are you doing here?"

Sadie smiled, "I just came to talk to Finn."

Millie nodded, "Right well I'll leave you two to it then."

She turned to go but Sadie stood up quickly, "Oh no, I have to go anyway. I don't want to bug you guys anymore so I'll just get out of your hair."

Millie nodded and hugged Sadie quickly. The redhead turned to Finn next and Millie bit the inside of her cheek as she watched her hug Finn and whisper something into his ear. She turned to walk up the stairs as Finn walked Sadie to the door.

"Just give her time, she'll say it."

Finn nodded at Sadie's words and watched as she walked to the car. She opened the door and looked back at Finn before giving him a small wave. He waved back and sighed, his eyes watching her car disappear down the long driveway.

He turned to walk back inside and went up the stairs to his and Millie's room. He opened the door and looked around, figuring she had gone into the bathroom. He walked over to the door and knocked lightly.

"Mills?"

His eyebrows furrowed as he got no reply and he knocked again, waiting to hear Millie's smooth voice float through. He turned the knob slowly, surprised to find that the door was open. He peered in cautiously, finding only an empty bathroom. His eyes traveled to the floor where Millie's clothes she had been wearing were sitting in a pile.

He walked out of the bathroom quickly, knowing exactly what Millie was like and where she would be. He glanced to the dresser and saw that her drawer that held her bathing suits was open. He opened up the balcony doors and walked to the edge, peering over and spotting Millie automatically. She was in the pool, floating on her back with her eyes closed.

Without a second thought he had changed and was downstairs, walking into the backyard in his swimming shorts.

"Hey."

Millie opened her eyes and turned her head to glance at Finn. Her eyes went up and down his body before she turned her head back and closed her eyes once again.

Finn walked down the steps of the pool, making his way over to Millie slowly. It was quiet, only the sound of the crickets and the slight splashing Finn was making being heard. He made it to Millie who had stood up by now. She moved away slowly, making Finn's eyebrows furrow.

"What's wrong?" Finn asked.

"Why didn't you tell me Sadie was coming over?" Millie asked getting straight to it.

Finn shrugged, "I didn't think you'd mind...I'm sorry?"

Millie locked eyes with him, "Why was she here?"

"We were talking about Grace," Finn replied.

Millie didn't seem like she was believing him and Finn didn't know why. Why would I lie about this? He walked towards Millie more and she backed up again.

"What'd she whisper in your ear?" Millie asked next.

"What?" Finn asked in confusion.

Millie nodded and crossed her arms, "She whispered in your ear before she left."

"Oh!" Finn said, "Yeah she was just telling me thank you. She's going to talk to Grace."

"Oh," Millie replied quietly.

Finn walked forward a step and Millie backed up quickly, forgetting that the pool progressively got deeper. Her head went back and under the water for a quick second before she came back up coughing. Finn went forward quickly and pulled her to him, patting her back.

"Hey calm down, what's wrong with you?" He said with concern.

Millie calmed down and pushed away from Finn, her breathing still a little heavy.

"Babe what's wrong?" Finn said again.

Millie shook her head, "It's dumb."

"Nothing that's bothering you like this is dumb Millie," Finn said in reply.

Millie sighed and shook her head before looking down. Finn gave her a pleading look.

"Please tell me?"

Millie hated seeing Finn upset. She nodded slowly, "Just don't call it dumb okay?"

She looked up as she heard the water move a little, her eyes landing on Finn's pinky. She came forward slowly and carefully, putting her arm out towards Finn's.

"I pinky promise."

Millie nodded at his soft words and linked her pinky with his before pulling it back towards her body.

"I saw a video of you and Sadie the other day," She started.

Finn's eyebrows furrowed, "A video?"

Millie nodded, "It was of when you went to talk to her at lunch after she stormed off. You guys looked really comfy and you hugged and smiled and-"

"And nothing. Millie are you really believing some video that was taken out of context?" Finn cut her off.

"You said you wouldn't call it dumb," Millie said.

"I'm not," Finn said, "It's just, I thought we were passed even looking at the headlines. All they are is trouble."

"I thought bad press was still press?" Millie shot back.

Finn sighed, "Well yeah but- that's not what that means."

"Then what does it mean?" Millie asked.

"It means...well yeah that's what it means but that's besides the point," Finn replied.

"It just sucks because I tried to convince myself that you guys wouldn't do that and then I come home to you two cozied up on the couch and now we're here and..."

Millie's sentence trailed off as her voice cracked. A frown came over Finn's face and he walked forward in the water. He opened up his arms and Millie shook her head.

"I don't want to be touched right now," a tear came down her face and Finn sighed.

He didn't know what else to say to her. She crossed her arms and looked down, her tears dropping into the water.

"I get it though. I'm not as pretty as some girls and I'm not as sweet or funny as them but I can't help it you know?" Millie rambled out.

"Millie-"

"I'm just Millie, and maybe I'm not as beautiful, maybe I don't have pretty red hair and blue eyes-" Millie continued.

Finn was to her in quick strides. He wrapped his arms around her as she let out a sob. He held her close and shook his head as she nuzzled her head into his shoulder. He calmed her down significantly before pulling back a little. He tilted her chin up and locked eyes with her.

"Baby you're so beautiful. You're gorgeous inside and out. I don't care what any other girl looks or acts like because they're not you. I don't care if I have to say it a million times more, I want you and only you."

Millie shook her head slightly and Finn sighed. He pulled her head close to his chest and she hugged him tight.

"I'm sorry."

Finn shook his head, "For what?"

"I'm no good for you."

Finn shook his head again, "Don't say that. You're perfect for me."

Millie shook her head and repeated herself again, "I'm no good for you."

Finn held her, his hand running down her wet hair. He didn't like this. He didn't like how she was feeling. She sounded so broken and it hurt Finn to think that she was feeling like this. He knew exactly why she was feeling like this too and it only angered him more.

"He really messed you up..." he whispered quietly. Millie let out another sob and Finn held her tighter, if that was even possible.

"I got you now...don't worry. I love you and I won't let you feel like this anymore."

He kissed the top of her head and pulled back before locking eyes with her again.

"Let's go inside okay?"

Millie nodded and let Finn help her out of the pool. He grabbed a towel out of the cabinet and wrapped it around her shoulders carefully. He grabbed the corner of the towel and wiped her face carefully, making sure to get all of the tears that had fallen.

"Finn?" Millie spoke quietly.

He looked into her eyes and nodded, "Yeah?"

Millie was quiet for a few seconds and she could feel more tears come to her eyes. She looked up at Finn and put her hand on his freckled cheek. He subconsciously leaned into her touch, making her smile almost peak through.

She got up on her tiptoes and kissed him, her lips trembling just barely from crying. Finn kissed back automatically, tasting her salty tears on her lips but not really caring. Millie pulled back after only a couple seconds and the two let their foreheads lean against each other. Millie swallowed and opened her mouth to speak, saying three words that came out in a whisper.

"Thank you Finn."
