Night had finished going to school and she was walking to a apartment complex. "Oh no." Her eyes widened when she saw a piece of paper taped to the door. She grabbed the paper and read it.
"What's wrong, Night?" Said Star. "What does that note say?"
"Um..." Night's face darkened in a state of anime depression, and she dropped the paper.
"Night?" Star watched as a silent Night opened the door to their apartment room.
"Are you okay?" Star was cut off as Night slammed the door behind her.
She dropped down onto her knees and started crying. "S-Star."
Star rushed over to her older sister. "Sister, what's wrong?"
"N-nothing..." Night wanted to hide her feelings. "Start packing everything you need."
"What? Why? We're coming back here, right?"
"We're not going to live here anymore. We can't." Night started explaining. "They're kicking us out because we didn't pay the rent. I don't have anymore money because I got fired from my babysitting job." She broke down in tears. "I'm sorry, I can't do anything."
Star started feeling sad and she comforted Night by giving her a warm hug, "It's okay. You did your best and I admire you for that."
~~~~~
"Night, Hart." Kite tucked Hart into bed.
"Goodnight, Kite." Hart said.
After Kite closed the door to Hart's room, he sat down on the couch to think. He then stood near the clear glass window, seeing that it was raining outside. He stared at the open view through the glass window that showed back his reflection.
The bright lights in the view seemed to illuminate the city, making it look like a twinkling palace in the night. He then went back to the living room to go sit back on the couch. He sighed to himself.
Orbital then noticed that his master was in a sad state. "M-Master K-Kite..." He turned his robot head to him. "What's wrong?"
"Oh it's nothing." Kite said. He then got up and opened the door. "Orbital, I'll be right back."
"Where are you going?" Asked the robot.
"I'm just going to take a walk..just to clear my mind off of something."
~~~~~
"Night!" Star shouted as her sister was running fast, while holding her hand. "Where are we going?"
"I don't know yet, Star." Said Night.
Night and Star then both stopped at a park to rest.
It then started to rain more. "Night, what are we going to do?" Star started crying. "You lost your job." She frowned. "We lost our home and we lost everything--" She broke down in tears.
Night had never seen her little sister so sad before so she couldn't help but cry her eyes out too. "I know and it's hard." She said, wiping the tears out of her eyes. "Without Mom and Dad, too...but we didn't lose everything." A pleasant smile began to form on her face. "My little Star," She hugged her. "We still have each other. And that's what really counts. We're both sisters and we're our only family that we have."
Star started crying more and hugged back Night. "N-Night." She said. "Thanks anyways for trying your best to take good care of me."
Night smiled and patted Star's back while she was still hugging her. "You're most welcome. I'm just doing what I should do, being your big sister."
Kite started walking around at the sidewalk. He looked up at the dark-lit sky. "Why can't I stop thinking about her, every time I look up at the night sky? Every night, all I can think about is the one named Night Lights."
~~~~~
"Night." Star said, yawning. "I'm tired. I wanna to go to sleep." She said. "But I'm scared that we're both alone here at the park, sitting on this bench."
"Go to sleep, Star." Night said. "I'll watch over for you."
"Okay." Star said. She laid her head down on top of Night's lap to go to sleep.
Being very cautious at what could be the hidden dangers of nightfall, Night was still awake. She was very aware of her surroundings as she kept a close eye on her sister and to what was around the park.
She had only been watching for about 20 minutes and was already starting to get tired. Her eyes kept on closing down and opening back up like a light that flickered in the darkness. Oh no...I'm getting tired but I have to keep a safe lookout for Star to protect her.
Night rubbed her eye. But I'm so tired. She looked at the sleeping child that was laying down on her lap and looked up at the sky that was sprinkling down rain drops. I'll still be awake but I'll just rest my eyes for a bit. She gave in to her tired state, and let herself close her eyes.
However, things were about to go towards a dark end when a shadowy figure appeared out of the shadows. It was a teenage boy. The boy approached Night, seeing that she had fallen asleep. "Good, she's asleep." The red-haired boy gently took Star's head off of Night's lap, moving her to lay down on the bench.
He then got rope and tied it on Night's legs. He got a pair of duct tape and taped it on Night's mouth. He then started to kidnap her, while she was still asleep.
Kite was still walking alone, wondering about his thoughts and about the mysteries of life. Night then woke up when she realized that someone was carrying her and she freaked out when she saw that she was in the hands of the red-haired boy.
Her screams were muffled by the tape that covered her mouth. In self-defense she started to try to kick her legs around to get away and with her head, she hit the boy's chin.
The boy was angry that she had hit him so he took a rag out of his pocket and shoved it under her nostrils, which had caused her to fall unconscious, making her fall asleep.
Kite then decided to go to the park. Seeing a little girl laying down on the bench had caught his eyes, making him wonder what she was doing all by herself at this late hour. He then gently tapped the girl on her shoulder and said, "Hello? Are you okay?"
The girl then woke up, being startled by seeing Kite in front of her. "Uh...w-who are you?"
"I'm Kite." Kite said. "I was just wondering if you're okay...you shouldn't be out here all by yourself sleeping alone in this park. It can be dangerous for a kid like you...with no one to watch you--"
"Hi, I'm Star," Star sat up. "I'm not alone, Mr. Kite. My big sister is next to me, watching out for me to protect me while I was asleep."
"Sister?" Kite said. "I don't see anyone out here with you..you're by yourself. Unless you mean--"
Star then turned around. She gasped. "Oh no! Where's my sister Night!? She's gone! What happened? She would never leave me here alone."
"Night is your sister!?" Kite wondered if Star was talking about the same Night-girl he knew. "Night Lights?"
"Yes! She is!" Star said. "Do you know her?"
"Yes, I do." Kite said. "But there's no time for me to explain, let's go find your sister." He took Star's hand and started running. "I have a feeling that something bad must of happened to her."
"We're coming, Night!" Said Star.
~~~~~
"There she is!" Star pointed to a red-haired boy that was carrying Night. "Oh no, he's taking her away!"
"I'll handle this," Kite then put Star on top of his back to give her a piggy-back ride. "Star, hold on very tight to my neck. And whatever you do, don't let go."
"Okay, Mr. Kite." Star said.
Kite put on his duel gazer, calling Orbital. "Orbital, please get here. I found Night and I could use your help to save her. Right now, I'm sending you my coordinates."
"A-alright M-Master K-Kite. I'll be on my w-WAY!" Orbital said. In three minutes, he found the exact coordinates. "I f-found you. Now what?" He found Kite and Star, and helped them travel faster by flying them into the air with his glider-form.
"Orbital, attack that boy that has Night. Make him your target." Kite ordered.
"R-right." Orbital targeted the boy and shot him with a rocket, knocking him down onto the ground. Night fell down from his grasp and Kite quickly picked up Night (as he was still flying into the air).
~~~~~
Kite set Night on top of the bench. He took the tape off of her mouth and he untied the rope that was around her legs. He then gently shook her. "Night...Night...please wake up--"
Night's eyes slowly started to open. "It's me, Ki--" For self-defense, Night immediately kicked Kite on his stomach. "Get away from me! You creep!"
Kite started coughing and he touched his stomach with his right hand, "Kite?" It took some seconds to realize that she had hit Kite. "Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!" She got up and started rubbing him on his back.
"Yay!" Star said. "You're okay, sister!" She hugged Night. "Star...what happened?" She then looked directly at Orbital and Kite. "Kite, Orbital...what are you two doing here?"
"Greetings, Miss Night." Orbital was being formal, so he bowed in front of Night. "Me and Master Kite came to your rescue."
"My rescue?" Night was confused. "I don't remember that well on what happened. The last thing I remember was that I was resting my eyes.." Her eyes widened as she started to remember. "Oh no...I must of fell asleep when I was watching you," She looked at Star. "I'm so sorry, Star. You could of been in danger if I wasn't watching over you." She protectively hugged Star.
"It's okay." Said Star. "Mr. Kite protected me. And I wasn't the one in danger, you were."
"Yeah, a boy with red hair was kidnapping you." Kite said. "Star noticed that you were missing and I helped her to get you back. And now, everything is good."
Night looked surprised. "Oh, I remember that now." She then looked at the robot and its master. "I can't believe you did that all for me." Night said. "Thank you, Kite and Orbital."
"Y-you...are m-most....welcome!" Orbital said.
"Now, I just have one question for the both of you." Kite said. "What are the two of you both doing here at this park all by yourselves?" He had a serious look in his eyes.
Night looked at Kite and back at Star, wondering if she should tell the truth to him or not. Star's eyes twinkled as she looked up at Night and nodded her head to her, a sign that she wanted her to tell him the truth. "Kite, I--" Night looked up at Kite. "I--AHHHHH!" She screamed in fear since she heard a loud lightning bolt struck a tree. She got scared, so without thinking, she hugged Kite like he was a teddy bear.
Night blushed, realizing that she was really close to Kite. "It's just that ever since you fired me from that babysitter job to take care of Hart. I haven't been able to find a better job." She said. "I have no more money to pay the rent to the apartment me and Star lived in...so the landlord kicked us out." She frowned. "Now, Star and I have no where else to go. We don't have a home anymore, that's why we were at the park alone."
It then started to rain even more. "I'm so sorry for all of that." Kite hugged Night back to make her feel better. "You and Star can come live with me and Hart."
"Really?" Night said. "I don't know what to say--I--" She smiled at him. "Thank you so much."
"Now, let's get out of this rain." Kite said.
