I will be there for you even if we may seek a separate light.

Millie woke up warm.
She lifted her head, feeling whatever she was lying on shift underneath her. She yawned and her eyes landed on Finn, her lips turning up into a tiny smile. He looked peaceful while he slept, his hair sprawled across the pillow under his head and his mouth ever so slightly open.
Millie moved up a bit, kissing his slightly chapped lips softly and then pulling back. His mouth closed and his eyebrows furrowed as he moved a little, his arm that was on Millie's back pulling her towards him some more.
"Finn," Millie said quietly. He stopped moving and was seemingly back asleep completely, making Millie sigh. She looked to the clock on the bedside table, seeing that she had thirty more minutes until she actually had to wake up.
She moved out from under Finn's arm slowly so she wouldn't wake him up before silently sliding off the bed. She picked his shirt up off the floor and threw it on before grabbing her own shorts. She made her way out of the room and into the living room where her phone was on the coffee table next to Finn's. She scooped it up and sighed when she saw how many new messages she had.
"It's been going off all morning."
Millie jumped, letting out a scream at the sight of Grace at the entrance to the living room. Her hand went to her chest and she leaned down, her heart beating fast.
"What happened, are you guys okay?" Finn came down the stairs in only his boxers, his hair was unruly and his face was full of worry.
Grace smiled and raised her eyebrows, "Even if we were in trouble, what would you be able to do boxer boy?"
"Defend you, duh," Finn rolled his eyes before turning to walk back upstairs.
Millie sighed and watched him go before looking back to her phone. She unlocked it and opened the messages, her face going to one of worry immediately. She had a ton of reminders from her parents, but two texts stood out to her among those.
Jacob: Why have you been ignoring me?
Millie sighed and read the next.
Jacob: We need to meet.
Millie's eyebrows furrowed and she replied back quickly.
Millie: We don't. I told you we're done and I meant it.
The reply back was fast and Millie's jaw clenched as she read it.
Jacob: Are you forgetting what I have? What I'm capable of? Meet me at the apartment tonight.
"Something wrong?" Grace asked.
Millie looked up from her phone and saw that Grace was still leaning against the doorframe.
"No, just my manager bugging," Millie lied easily.
Grace nodded and turned to leave, but Millie spoke before she could.
"Hey Grace?"
Grace turned and looked at her, waiting for her to continue.
"About the whole Sadie thing," Millie started but Grace wouldn't let her finish.
"Save it please," Grace said with a disappointed smile. She sighed and walked out of the room then, not looking back at Millie.
Millie looked down to her phone and read over the message from Jacob again. She just wanted to ignore it but she couldn't, too much was on the line.
Millie: I won't be in LA tonight.
She hoped this would at least buy her a little time before she had to think of something to avoid this. She would be in Florida by tonight, and then she was going to New York. She wouldn't be back home until the end of the week, and that was enough time for her to figure out the situation.
Jacob: Where will you be?
Millie sighed. Should I tell him where I'm going? Do I have a choice at this point? She replied back, telling him where she would be at. His reply was fast and she looked up to the ceiling, cursing the heavens.
Jacob: See you tonight.

"Why can't they just come here," Finn groaned as he helped Millie pack her suitcase.
"Because they're located in Florida babe," Millie replied with an eye roll.
She zipped up the rest of her suitcase and set it by the door before walking over to Finn. She put her arms around his neck and his went to her waist as he looked down at her.
"I'm going to miss you," she said giving a sad face.
He nodded, "I'll probably miss you more. I have to spend a whole other day here and be reminded that you're not here."
"But you get to see your band when you go, the only people I'll see are my parents," Millie sighed.
You'll see Jacob too, her mind taunted her.
"Besides, you have Grace here for tomorrow," She said ignoring her thoughts.
Finn nodded, "But I can't kiss Grace."
Millie smiled and Finn leaned down, kissing her softly.
"And I can't hold her like this," he said as he put his forehead against hers and pulled her closer so that their bodies were pressed up against each other.
"And I definitely can't-"
"Millie your car is here!" Grace's voice rang out. Finn sighed and the two pulled away.
He grabbed her suitcase and walked down the stairs with it as she followed. Grace was at the door, leaning against it as she watched them.
"I'll see you in a couple days," Millie said as they walked out to the car. Finn put her suitcase in the back and nodded.
They hugged each other close and Finn kissed the top of her head. They pulled apart and they kissed each other quickly before Finn opened the car door for her. She climbed in and buckled herself before giving him one last smile.
"Skype me tonight?" He asked hopefully.
Millie nodded, "Of course."
"Nine PM your time?" He asked.
Millie nodded again, "Sounds good."
Finn lifted his pinky and held it out to her, "Pinky promise?"
She smiled and linked their pinkies, "I pinky promise."
Finn nodded in satisfaction before closing the car door and watching it drive off.
"You guys are gross," Grace commented as Finn walked back into the house.
He rolled his eyes, "You're just jealous."
"That you have a girlfriend? Yeah a little," Grace shrugged.
"I didn't mean it like that," Finn sighed. He knew exactly what, or rather who, she was thinking about.
Grace gave him a small smile, "It's fine Finn, I know what you meant."
"So what do you want to do today?" Finn asked as he followed Grace into the kitchen.
She shrugged as she opened the fridge, "Watch some movies?"
She grabbed down the jar of pickles and then a fork from a drawer.
"Millie's going to kill you for eating her pickles," He commented as Grace fished one out with the fork.
She looked him in the eye and took a bite out of it, "I don't see Millie anywhere, so unless you or I tell her, she'll never know."
Finn chuckled and nodded, "My lips are sealed then. I do have to warn you though, she counts them."
Grace raised her eyebrows, "She's weird."
Finn nodded, "Maybe a little."
The two walked into the living room after Grace put the pickles back. They practically threw themselves onto the couch, flipping through the channels on TV to find a movie to watch.
"What time do you leave tomorrow?" Grace asked.
"My flight leaves at noon," Finn replied.
"And you're going to Chicago?" Grace asked.
Finn nodded, "Yup for three days."
"What am I supposed to do here?" Grace asked next.
"I don't know, go swimming, eat some food, watch TV?" Finn replied. He had never realized how little there was to do at the house since his time was always occupied with Millie.
"Boring. Am I allowed to have people over?" Grace asked.
Finn shook his head automatically, "No. No girls here at all Grace. I don't need anyone exposing where Millie and I live."
Grace sighed, "Well this blows."
"You're the one that wanted to stay here," Finn laughed.
Grace sighed and turned her head back to the television. It was quiet for a while, the two best friends watching TV as some cheesy romance movie played.
"What's it like?" Grace asked quietly, "You know...having a girlfriend."
Finn looked to her but she continued to stare at the TV. He didn't say anything because he wasn't sure what to say. Her head turned to him and she gave him a weak but reassuring smile.
"I'm just curious. I've never had an actual girlfriend you know? So I just want to know what it's like," Grace said shrugging.
Finn knew that the whole Sadie thing had really affected her. He knew that it had only been a few days and that Grace was still hurting. Sure she would deny it if he asked but he knew because he knew Grace like the back of his hand.
"Grace..." Finn trailed off with a sigh.
Grace rolled her eyes, "Please? I just want to know."
Finn nodded and looked to his lap before looking back to Grace, "What exactly do you want to know?"
Grace sat up a little taller, seemingly excited to listen to Finn answer her questions.
"How is it different from being single?" Grace asked.
Finn thought about it, "Well you kind of always have that person there, you know? Like if I was single, then I wouldn't know what to do with most of my day, but Millie tends to fill up a lot of my time."
Grace nodded, "Do you think you act different when she's around?"
Finn nodded, "Yeah but not in a way that I'm a completely different person. I think I'm just aware that she's there & that makes me feel a lot more relaxed and happy."
"So is she the reason you're happy?" Grace said tilting her head a bit.
Finn smiled a little, "She's a part of the reason...but you have to remember that you can be happy without someone too. You have to be able to make your own happiness, you know?"
Grace nodded and looked down, "How do you feel about her?"
Finn opened his mouth to speak but stopped. He didn't know what to say. Grace looked up at him after he was quiet for about a minute.
"Finn?"
He looked to her and his eyebrows furrowed, "I feel...happy? I don't know how to explain it."
"Try your best," Grace encouraged him to which he nodded.
"Well with Millie I feel like I just want to be around her, you know? Even if we're just in the same room. I feel like if she's happy then I'm happy and so I try to make sure she's happy whenever I can. She makes me want to protect her, physically and mentally. I absolutely hate seeing her hurt and will do anything to stop that if she is. I just want to be there for her you know?"
Finn stopped talking as he realized he was rambling. Grace gave him a small smile.
"Do you love her?"
Finn sighed. It was that same question. That same question that Nick had asked him. The one that had drifted through his thoughts a lot ever since Nick had asked.
Do I?
Finn looked to Grace again and shrugged, uttering out the only words he seemed to be able to when answering that question.
"I don't know."

Finn sat by his laptop, looking at the clock once again. He had Skype opened up, and he was on the messages between him and Millie.
"Finn come on, you can't sit by that laptop all night," Grace said as she stuck her head into the room.
Finn was in the same spot he had been in when she checked on him half an hour ago, the laptop open and a tired look on his face.
"She said she would call," Finn said without looking away from the screen.
"She probably fell asleep. It's almost eleven PM in Florida," Grace said as she sat by him on the bed.
Finn shook his head, "She pinky promised, she's probably just busy."
"This late? Finn she isn't calling tonight," Grace replied with a sigh.
Finn pouted a little like a child and Grace sighed again. She reached forward and closed the laptop, making Finn smack her hands away.
"Hey! What if she tries calling right now!" He yelled as he reached for the laptop.
Grace was quicker though, and she had the laptop in her hands within seconds. She rolled off the bed and ran out of the room, making her way downstairs.
"Grace!" Finn took off after her.
Grace was fast, and Finn was extremely out of shape. He got to the bottom of the stairs and stopped, bending over to catch his breath. Grace walked up to him, the laptop no longer in her hands.
"Where'd you put it?" Finn asked.
"Not telling you," Grace replied back simply.
Finn groaned. He knew Millie probably wasn't going to be calling tonight, but he didn't want to risk it if she did. He had been looking forward to being able to talk to her and he was disappointed that she hadn't called and didn't pick up his calls either.
"I know just the way to get rid of that sad face," Grace said making Finn glare at her.
"I'm not going out with you," He said. He already knew what she was thinking and she smiled widely.
"Of course you are!" Grace said excitedly, "We both had girls disappoint us so we need to go out!"
Finn shook his head, "I'm not going to go out. I don't feel like dealing with paparazzi and all that."
"Finn!" Grace groaned. She drawled out his name, making him roll his eyes.
"No, not tonight. I told you it isn't healthy for you to be covering up your hurt by getting with random girls either," Finn criticized the girl in front of him.
Grace scoffed, "I don't even get with random girls."
"What was the girl last night's name again?" Finn smirked.
Grace rolled her eyes, "Last night doesn't count. Please go out with me? I just need some fun right now."
She gave him a sad face. Finn knew that she probably did need some fun, but he also didn't want to encourage her behavior. He really didn't have much to do tonight anyway since his Skype call with Millie was seemingly cancelled. He looked to Grace who was still giving him a sad face and sighed.
"Fine, we can go out."
Grace smiled widely, "Yay! I'm so excited!"
Finn watched her start to run up the stairs. She stopped halfway and looked back down to him.
"Be ready in twenty, you're about to have the night of your life!" She said with excitement.
Finn nodded and started to walk up the stairs, letting out a sigh. He was bummed about the call with Millie. He had wanted to see her face and talk to her before bed, but now his plans were completely different.
She pinky promised, he thought.
He shook away the thoughts as he made it to his room. He was already somewhat dreading the night ahead of him, but only started to dread it more as Grace came into his room.
"Which dress says 'I'm available but not desperate'?" She held up two dresses and Finn sighed.
It was going to be a long night.
