HARRY
"Are you sure of that?" I ask her, stroking her cheek with my thumb. She quickly nods her head again with determination filling up her eyes.
"But what is going to happen if they confirm what the other doctor has already said?" She lowers her stare for a few seconds at my words, before looking up to me again with the same determination that had gone shaking for a few seconds.
"We're gonna go through this together..." she nods her head and sadly smiles at me, probably thinking about the possibility.
"But will you consider other possibilities to have kids or adopt?" She slowly nods her head, after thinking about it for a few seconds. I can't put into words what I'm feeling right now, what I feel for her. I just wrap my arms around her waist and I draw her against my chest, to hold her. Her arms surround my neck soon enough and she leaves a small kiss on my jaw when she hides her face in my neck.
"I love you so much... everything is gonna be fine, we're gonna be fine." I whisper in her ear and she smiles and nods her head.
"I know..." she gets on her tiptoes to leave a kiss on my lips.
"What time is Andres going to arrive?" She asks me, interrupting our kiss.
"Around 12 P.M." I tell her, stroking her back with my fingers.
"What if we don't tell him just yet?" She tells me, adjusting a lock of hair, fallen from her messy bun, behind her ear. "I think it would be better to tell our parents first and then we can tell him next week... just to get him used to the idea of us together a little more first." Telling Andres is what worries me the most too and maybe she's right. It would be better to tell her mother, Celine and my parents first. Andres doesn't have any idea of the past that has been between the two of us, so it could seem like we are just running to him and that's not the idea I want to give him. I don't want him to think that it's just something momentarily.
"Yeah, you're right!" I nod my head and she smiles at me. "Your father already knows, though." She parts her lips and looks at me with surprise. "I asked him, I wanted him to be ok with it." I quickly add and her lips opened in surprise quickly curve into a smile.
"And he said he was fine with it?" She chuckles, seeming quite surprised. "He must really like you now!"
"Yeah... modestly, he does." I give her a satisfied smile and she rolls her eyes at me.
"There's nothing of modest in you, Styles... nothing." She puts emphasis on the second "nothing" and then softly hits me on my chest.
"Yeah, so I've been told..." I wink at her and she immediately gets what I was hinting at, so she hits me on the chest again and rolls her eyes.
"Smug bastard!" She says to herself and then shakes her head. When she turns around to walk away from me, I wrap my arms around her and draw her against my chest again, resting my chin on her shoulder.
"Well, you're marrying this smug bastard..." I remind her, leaving a kiss on her neck and she laughs between my arms, turning her face toward me and meeting my lips with hers.
"I'm still in time to run away, actually..." She protests and soon enough tries to run away from my hold. I forcefully turn her toward me and I grab her by her legs, lifting her up and throwing her on my shoulders. She bursts into laughter while I start walking toward our bedroom.
"Put me down, you asshole!" She screams at me while pinching and spanking my butt, which is the thing she has the closest. I do as I say, once we've reached our room and make her lay down on our bed. When I try to get on her, she stops me and pushes me away.
"You have to go get your son, baby." She reminds me and at her reminder I check the time on my watch. He's landing in an hour and considering I have to get to Washington I should really be out of the house already by now.
"God... fuck, it's already late!" She nods her head at my words and I run toward the box with my clothes inside to find the first thing I can wear.
"I'll order burgers for lunch..." Scarlett tells me, getting up from the bed while I get ready as fast as I can.
"That's hot..." I joke, surrounding her waist with my arm and drawing her toward me to kiss her lips. She laughs against my lips and then takes another peck.
"I love you. Be home soon." She tells me, once that I'm all dressed up and ready to leave. I nod my head and give her one last kiss before leaving for the airport.
SCARLETT
When I hear Harry's car parking in the alleyway, I immediately walk toward the window to see them getting out of the car. Andres looks around the garden with his excited stare, jumping on his feet when he sees the soccer nets his father has assembled for him. He looks definitely happy, while he hops around with his Star Wars backpack on the shoulders.
I open the door for them and when Andres sees me, he runs toward me and when I get down to his height, he leaves a kiss on my cheek.
"Hi, Scarlett!" He tells me with a smile and I give him a quick hug.
"Hello, honey... how are you?" I ask him, while he keeps looking around, obviously curious. He takes off his backpack and rests it on the couch at the entry.
"I'm fine! You?" He asks me. Harry comes in too and closes the door behind me, coming near me and kissing my cheek too.
"Me too!" I nod my head and smile. He immediately notices the burgers and fries on the table so he starts running toward it. The delivery man had arrived just a few minutes before them, so they should still be hot.
"Burgers!" He screams excited, sitting down at the table. "Is it our lunch?" He then asks and I nod my head, sitting down with Harry.
"So, do you like the new house, buddy?" Harry asks him, bringing his hand to his son's head to mess up his curls.
"Love it!" He nods his head and then fills up his mouth with fries. "Can we play soccer this afternoon?" He asks both of us.
"Sure... I'll be the goalie." Harry says, nodding his head at Andres and making appear a big smile on his lips. "And then we'll go out to buy new stuff for your new room, yeah?" Harry adds and Andres' eyes quickly light up when he hears the word "buy". He nods his head and smiles.
"How has your week been?" I ask Andres. Harry has probably already asked him in the car, but I ask him anyway.
"It's been good!" He nods his head. "Me and mommy went to the cinema to watch the Incredibles 2." He excitedly exclaims.
"Wow... was it good?" I ask him, matching his excitement.
"It was amazing!" He screams with excitement while nodding his head. Before I can ask him anything else, we're interrupted by the ring of the doorbell.
"I'll go check!" I quickly say when Harry tries to get up to go open the door. I leave them alone to walk to the door and once I've checked who's in front of it I open it.
A young girl with blonde hair and blue hair, with a bored stare and a plate between her hands, looks back at me.
"Hi! I live in the house near..." Her tone of voice matches the boredom in her eyes while she talks to me. She points at the white house right next to ours while she talks to me. "You must be our new neighbors! My mom forced me to bring you these cookies she bought at the supermarket to pretend she baked them herself." She puts the plate in my hands and I smile at her, trying to act nice and not completely surprised by her weird welcome. I'm sure her mom wasn't expecting her daughter to act like that.
"Well, thank you... you should really thank your mom." I say, trying to act as polite and nice as I can. Soon enough, I hear Harry's steps behind me and he's quickly by my side.
"Babe, who's that?" He asks, surrounding my waist with his arm. When Harry reaches my side, the eyes of the girl in front of us quickly light up with interest and excitement at the sight of him.
"I'm Mandy!" The girl says with a big smile, with a tone of voice that is very different from the one she used with me. "I came by to welcome you to the neighborhood. I live right next to you." She pushes her cleavage out while she stretches her arm toward Harry to shake his hand.
"She brought us cookies." I put on a fake smile while Harry quietly chuckles before shaking her hand.
"Well, it has been very nice, now if you don't mind we have to finish our lunch." I quickly say, deciding to push back my idea of being nice and polite. "Thank your mom for us." Before she can open her mouth to add anything else, I close the door to her face and then I try to go back to the table as fast as I can to avoid Harry's cockiness about what has just happened.
"You didn't have to be that rude..." he chuckles, wrapping his arms around my waist and drawing me against his chest. I roll my eyes at him and I try to push him away from me.
"And she didn't have to be that obvious!" He shakes his head at my obvious jealousy and chuckles.
"Well, you neither, babe." He kisses my cheek, before letting me go. "Don't be jealous of a prepubescent girl."
"Oh, she didn't look that prepubescent to me, actually..." I tell him, mimicking with my hands her breasts that were so much bigger than mine. Harry giggles and shakes his head at me.
"Didn't even notice it..." He shrugs his shoulders and I don't keep it going for longer, since we've just both reached the table. When Harry sits down again he observes his now empty plate in front of him.
"Did you eat my fries, Andres?!" I chuckle while I look at Andres' guilty look while he shrugs his shoulders and pretends to know nothing about it.
"You can both have mine..." I laugh, putting between the two of them my plate still filled up with fries I didn't touch.
"You have a nice ring!" Andres observes, pointing at my engagement ring with his index. I try to keep a straight face but I can't help asking Harry for his help with my eyes. Obviously, he's just a kid so he won't know it's an engagement ring, but I still feel bad for lying to him now that he's seen it. "It's so big!" He adds with surprise, tracing with his little index the shape of the diamond.
"Yeah, your dad got it for me..." I shrug my shoulders, giving Harry a careful look. He just stays silent and lets me do the talking. Thank you very much, Harry.
"Cool!" He just says, having evidently already lost interest in the ring. He doesn't bring it up for the rest of the lunch and once we're done eating he goes outside with his dad to play soccer while I do the dishes. I definitely prefer it over playing in the sun.
For the rest of the afternoon, before going out, Andres had taken a nap and I had watched a movie with Harry, cuddling on the couch.
"You really need a shower..." I tell Harry, in the middle of watching the movie I've put on. He looks down at me and giggles, probably well aware of that. They've played and sweated under the sun for around two hours.
"Do I stink?" He asks amused, raising his arm and smelling his armpit to check.
"You really stink!" I nod my head at him.
"That's manly sweat..." He proudly says and I roll my eyes at him.
"Well, you aren't getting any with that manly sweat." I chuckle, getting further from him by sliding down on the other side of the couch. He grabs my leg, trying to draw me toward him again, but I'm quick enough to bring my hands on his chest and pushing him away.
"No?!" He smirks at me, tugging at my leg again and drawing me down on the couch. His body is quick enough on mine and he tries to get to my lips, while I move my face to the side to make it harder for him.
"Stop," I giggle, bringing my hand to his neck, giving in to just one kiss. "Your son is sleeping right there on the other couch..." I whisper in his ear not to wake Andres up but he wraps his arms around my waist, leaving kisses all over my neck and jawline. "And you stink, Harry!" I snort pushing him away again and he finally gives in and stands up.
"Alright, I'm going to take a shower..." he sighs, rolling his eyes at me.
"Thank God!" I chuckle.
"You can get ready and then wake Andres up." He tells me, walking to my side of the couch again and then stroking my cheek with his hand.
"Ok, daddy!" I nod my head at him and his eyes immediately light up at my words.
"Call me that again and I'll drag you by force in the shower with me." He whisper at me while his eyes burn a hole into my skull from how intense it is.
"Maybe another time..." I get up from the couch and I wink at him. Something in his eyes tells me that he leaves just because he can't start right now something that he can't finish.
Before I can go back to our bedroom to get changed, I notice Andres slowly opening his eyes. I kneel down to his height and I stroke his curls out of his forehead while he looks around, still a little sleepy.
"Hi, honey..." I whisper, still stroking his hair and head. He softly smiles at me, probably still tired to use his words. "Your daddy is taking a shower and I have to get ready... we'll go out soon." He slowly nods his head, agreeing with our plan.
"Do you want to come to the bedroom with me while I get changed?" He nods his head again and stretches out his arms toward me. Once I lift him up from the couch, he wraps his arms and legs around me, resting his head on my shoulder.
I lay him down on our bed and by now he seems fully awake. He holds his stuffed monkey against his chest while he looks at me going through my stuff to look for something to wear.
"Are we having dinner out tonight?" He asks.
"Yeah, why not... what would you like?" I ask him, while I get a pair of black pants and a silk pale pink blouse from my box. The walk-in closet is not finished yet, so we have to keep our clothes inside the boxes still, for now.
"Japanese?!" Andres asks, showing his great excitement at the idea.
"Oh my God, me too!" I nod my head at him. "We're getting Japanese tonight." Harry comes out of the bathroom shortly after with a towel wrapped around his hips and nothing else. It's quite hard to keep my thoughts and nice and clean at the sight, but I'm practically forced to, since there's a kid in the same room as us.
"I'm going to get changed!" I quickly say, taking my clothes for the day and walking toward the bathroom.
"By the way, Andres and I want to have Japanese for dinner." I tell him, before disappearing into the bathroom.
"As you two please, then." I hear him saying to both me and Andres before I close the door behind me.
Our furniture hiring goes by very quickly and without any kind of problem. Harry had to get Andres a new videogame, before going to dinner, as he had promised.
When we get home it's barely 10 P.M., but Andres is already sleeping between Harry's arms while he brings him in. We have driven to the city for the day so Andres has fallen asleep during the 45 minutes of the ride in the car.
"I'll put him to bed, baby..." Harry tells me before disappearing down the corridor, toward Andres' room.
As first thing, I take my shoes off and then I proceed to take off my makeup and clothes. Harry comes in just when I'm about to take off my bra to get into my pajama. He immediately wraps his arms around my waist and starts leaving a trace of kisses on my shoulder.
"Need a hand getting undressed?" He whispers in my ear with a smirk. He strokes my back with his hand and slowly brings it up to the closing of my bra. He undoes it and lets the bra fall down my chest. His hands are quick to cup my naked breasts from behind. He teases my nipples with his fingers and while doing so he pushes my whole body against himself. It's quite impossible not to feel his growing bulge pushing against my ass, considering the way he's moving his hips against my ass.
I bring my hand between us, on his clothed bulge and I slowly cup and massage it. He parts his lips, letting out a soft moan at my touch.
"I've been aching for the whole day to be inside of you..." He whispers in my ear with his raspy voice and his hand reaches the elastic of my pantie.
"What are you doing?!" Before Harry can draw the pantie down my legs, the voice behind us distracts both of us. I quickly grab the top of my pajama from my bed and I cover my naked chest with it, while Harry is just as quick to grab a pillow to hide his obvious clothed erection from his son's innocent sight.
"What are you doing here?!" Harry snorts, turning around and looking at his son standing in the middle of the room, looking at us with his eyebrows furrowed.
"I wanna sleep here!" He complains, hopping toward our bed and jumping on it, without really waiting for his father's answer, but it's not like I'll let him send him back to his room now. I turn to the opposite side and I put on my pajama, keeping my boobs away from his poor sight. Good thing that our backs were facing him when he got in. Harry snorts again and rolls his eyes while I have to hold myself back from laughing at his obvious sexual frustration.
"I'll go take a really cold shower..." he tells us. I get into bed with Andres and he lays down with me, wrapping his little arms around me and resting his head on my chest. Something tells me that he's not used to sleeping without his mom.
"Did you have a bad dream, honey?" I ask him, while stroking his curls with my hand to make him relax.
"No, I don't wanna sleep alone... I sleep with mommy when I'm home." A smile immediately appears on my lips at his confession, for how cute he is. He must have a great relationship with his mother. I find myself thinking about the possibility of being a mother too and how my relationship with my kid would be. I'd try to work as hard as I could to be the best mother I can be, if I can ever get the chance.
I'm quickly distracted by Andres' soft snoring that tells me that he's already fallen asleep. He looks so peaceful while he sleeps on my chest. With my fingers still lost between his curls I fall asleep too just as quick.
FIVE DAYS LATER
Andres had left after lunch the day after and we had spent the evening at dinner with my father and Celine to share the news. That night, in one week of being engaged had been the most engaged I had felt in the whole week.
After that Sunday, Harry had completely getting absorbed into his job again, as if nothing had ever changed between us. We hadn't expressly talked about his job getting in the way between us, but I had assumed that a change was going to be natural since he had decided to propose to me. Obviously, I was wrong.
In the last five days I've been seeing him for one hour barely, in total. When I wake up in the morning he's already gone and when he comes back home — if he does —, I'm already asleep. He's told me that they have a big case going on, but it doesn't change the fact that I would really appreciate if I could see my fiancé one time a day, at least. I wouldn't say that it's asking too much.
The positive side is that I've been keeping myself busy a lot. The house, by now, is completely furnished. The walk-in closet is done and I've adjusted inside both of our clothes for the better. I've also been painting quite a lot, so I didn't really have time to get bored and actually feel lonely.
Now, I just can't wait for the weekend and to finally have him with me for 48 hours.
Just as I'm about to start cooking dinner for tonight, my attention is captured by the doorbell ringing. It's definitely too early for Harry to be back home already and he would have the keys, anyway. I walk toward the main door and I check the peephole before opening. I recognize the man standing outside, with a bouquet of flowers in one hand and a bottle of wine in the other as the one Harry greeted at the sushi restaurant in town, whose name I don't remember.
"Hi..." I say, as soon as I open the door. He politely smiles at me. He doesn't seem surprised to see me instead of Harry.
"Hello, Scarlett... I heard the great news!" He tells me, hinting with his eyes at my engagement ring. Obviously, he still remembers his name or heard it from Harry.
"Yes, we're both very excited..." I stop, putting on my face my best quizzing expression to make clear for him that I don't remember his name.
"Jason." He immediately tells me with a smile. "I was in town so I decided to stop by to give you my congratulations."
"That's so kind of you!" I step aside to let him in. "Come in, I can offer you a glass of wine." He follows me inside and I close the door behind us. "Harry's still working, so he's not here, unfortunately." Which I'm assuming he already knows, since I'm assuming they pretty much have the same job.
"Yeah, it doesn't matter. I bought these for you and the bottle for your fiancé, since I know he enjoys good wine." He hands me his gifts and I rest the bottle on the counter and smell the flowers, before putting them into a vase with water.
"Do you want something to drink?" I ask him, but he quickly shakes his head.
"Oh, no... I really can't!" He chuckles. "My wife put me on a diet and I can't drink anything but water and these protein shakes she makes... a torture." He jokes and shrugs his shoulders.
"Well, she's doing it for your sake for sure... that's what a wife does." I smile at him and he nods his head at my words.
"So you guys have decided to settle down here?!" He asks me, hiding both of his hands in his pockets.
"Uhm, yeah..." I nod my head, looking at him with my eyebrows furrowed. It's not like we've ever thought about settling down somewhere else. Harry's job is here, after all.
"I must say that I've been very disappointed in hearing that he had turned down the possibility to change division." He casually says, but when he notices the confusion printed all over my face, he furrows his eyebrows in confusion too. Obviously, he thought I knew whatever he's talking about.
"What?!"
"Wh— you didn't know?" He furrows his eyebrows, looking at me with confusion.
"I didn't know what?" I sigh, just wanting him to get to the point already. For some reason, I think that he came here just to talk about that.
"Before you got back together he sent us a request to get transferred from the BAU to the counterterrorism in New York City." He starts explaining. "His request got approved and then he's decided to stay with the BAU. I thought you had taken the decision together..." I sigh, unable to hold back. Harry has told me absolutely nothing about it. He's never talked or discussed it with me. He's just taken the decision without even involving me. It makes sense for him wanting to move to New York City, to be closer to his son, so I don't understand why he hasn't considered it more. This is definitely the positive side, but I can't say that I'm particularly excited at the idea of him starting to work for the most dangerous division of the FBI. The only thought makes me sick.
No, he didn't tell me, but I'm sure he had his reasons to change his mind." I fake my best smile and I cross my arms over my chest. Now, I just want him out of here as soon as possible.
"Well, working at the BAU he can't live in New York City and that's where his son lives..." I sigh at his words. I know it damn well, but what can I do about it, Jason?!
"Yeah, I'm sure he knows what he's doing." I'm not too sure of that, to be honest.
"Well, I hope so..." he sighs, starting walking with me back toward the door. Thankfully, he's understood that I just want him to get the fuck out of here. "But your dad has worked for us your whole life, I'm sure you know how it works and an offer can easily become an order in our job." The only possibility totally terrifies me. Not of having to move to New York, if he had just asked me, I would've told him yes, I just don't like the idea of him working for the counterterrorism division. He's declined it, but since he's asked for a transfer in the first place it means that he's considered it, at some point.
"Thank you for stopping by... I really appreciated the flowers." I put on a smile again, practically forcing myself to be polite while he's still here.
"Oh, it has been my pleasure... hope it all works out for the two of you!" He tells me, before leaving me on my own.
Once I'm left alone, I feel like breathing a sigh of relief again. That's for sure not what I was expecting and hoping to hear after this hell of a week that is about to end. If I couldn't wait to see Harry until 30 minutes ago, now I'm not even sure I want to see him at all.
FUN FACT: the kid that plays Andres went to Harry's concert in NYC ahahah
