(Y/N) POV
This was the day. Oof I was scared as heck. And now that I thought about it, how would I get to the camp without getting noticed by Alex, John, Hercules, and Lafayette?
Whatever, I'll worry about that later. I woke up early that morning and made myself breakfast. I'm pretty sure Alex was already gone, so I wrote Eliza a note.
"Dear Eliza,
I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier, but I went off to join the war. I spoke it over with General Washington, and I'm sure Alexander, Lafayette, John, and Hercules will keep me safe, so no need to worry.
Sincerely (your best friend),
(Y/N)"
"Sounds good." I murmured, before blowing on the paper for a few seconds and folding it up, leaving it on the dining table.
I quickly got changed into the pants, boots, and uniform, and admired myself in the mirror.
"It's a little bit baggier than I'd like it to be, but I can work with this. I can just have Hercules fix it later." I shrugged.
I tied my hair up into a high pony tail (If you have shorter hair, again, don't worry about fixing your hair up unless you want to do something with it <3. Dis is ur story) and admired myself in the mirror once more, before heading out.
(Time-skip brought to you by my lack of updates.)
Once we saddled up, we began our journey almost right away. Everyone was given a gun, which they carried with them. It was a little heavy, but I had to get through it. I signed up for this, anyways. I made sure to keep watch of where all of my friends were, and, luckily, they were nowhere to be seen. I stayed near the back of the long line of American soldiers (And one French soldier ;))
(Another time-skip brought to you by more of my lack of updates #sorrynotsorry)
We finally reached the camp, which contained many tents that were already set up. General Washington, though, got to stay in a small cabin.
Lucky, I sighed. But, he is technically the "leader" so...
Everyone tied up their horses somewhere, so I followed their lead. Then, I'd see men walking in and out of General Washington's "office" cabin.
"Maybe that's where you check in?" I whispered to myself.
So, I walked over, avoiding the gazes of the many men who stared at me with surprise. I knocked on the door and it opened. A man stood there, and as soon as he saw me, his eyes trailed over my body, which left a horrible feeling in my stomach.
"And who might you be?" He stared into my (e/c) eyes.
"U-uh... (Y/N) H-Hamilton, s-sir." I looked down.
"Mhm. You can come in." He stepped out of the way, but even as I walked by him, I could feel his stare burning into my back.
"Ah, (Y/N)! Good to see you here." General Washington said enthusiastically.
Hmph. At least he was nice and mature.
"Thank you, sir." I smiled back at him.
"So I can check you off... And I'm guessing you'll want to be staying in the same tent as your brother?" He asked, glancing up at me.
"Y-Yes, sir."
"Alright, that tent would be to the left, three down."
"Ok, thank you, sir." I tipped my head forward before speed-walking out of the cabin.
That was scary, I shuddered.
I followed his directions and continued to the left, then counted three.
"One... Two... Three!" I stopped in front of a tent, where I heard quiet chatter from inside.
I burst inside with my stuff.
"Guess who!" I shouted.
The four men inside, who I immediately recognized as my friends, turned with wide eyes and gaped mouths.
"Uh-huh, it's me." I waved a hand, before pushing forward and sitting on Alex's bed. "I can't believe you left without saying bye." I fake pouted.
"(Y-Y/N)... What are you doing here?" Alex came forward and poked the top of my head, as if he thought he was just dreaming.
"Why do you think I'm here?" I batted his hand away.
"Because we forgot to say goodbye?" Hercules looked shocked.
"Pfft, no! That would be dumb. Because I'm going to fight with you guys!"
"W-What?" I could tell Alex was trying to hold back a smile.
"What? What's so funny?" I crossed my arms.
"Women can't-"
I slapped my hand over his mouth.
"I swear, if you say women can't fight, my feminist side will come out and I will kill you. Literally, kill you." I threatened.
Alex blinked, then backed away.
"That's what I thought." I 'hmphed'.
"Now, is anybody else going to have a problem with me being here?" I sighed.
The four men glanced at each other.
"Ok, good. I don't have the energy right now to deal with someone that does have a problem." I flopped back onto Alex's bed.
"H-Hey, that's my bed." He finally stepped up, and held a finger in the air.
"Too bad." I murmured, turning over onto my stomach. "I'm so tired."
"(Y/N), are you going to be serious about this?" Alex tapped a foot.
"Heh?" I sat up.
"About the war. Are you going to be serious about the war." He repeated.
"Well, yeah. Why wouldn't I be?" I suddenly got defensive. "That's why I'm here. Not because you guys forgot to say bye or because I missed you, I'm here for women's rights and because I want to help defend the country alongside my friends."
"Yas." I heard Hercules mutter, and I thought I saw him wipe a tear, but I paid no attention to it.
"Alright then." Alex shrugged. "Are you going to move, though?"
"No. My bed now." I decided.
Alex sighed and slowly gathered all of his stuff and moved to a different bed.
"(Y/N)." Lafayette came over to me and sat next to me. "I'm happy you're here, mon amour, but... What if you get hurt?"
"I won't get hurt." I crossed my arms again.
"I'm glad you have some confidence, (Y/N), but you can't just decide that. It's fate that decides that. For all we know, we could all die, all five of us." John included himself in the conversation, which I didn't really mind. I haven't spoken to him in a while, they've been so busy preparing themselves for the war.
"How did you even get here?" Hercules also came in. "Like, how did you convince the General to let you come?"
"Oh, he didn't. I snuck here." I nodded.
"What?!" They all shrieked in unison.
"I'm just kidding, of course I spoke to General Washington first. He asked me to show him some things first, but later that day he sent me a letter telling me I could join." I grinned.
"But... What did you do to convince him?" John asked.
"He had me show him some useful spying techniques, made me prove to him I know how to use a gun, how to ride a horse, and as an extra, I told him all the stuff I know about medical stuff."
"Wow." Lafayette looked proud.
"What?" I glanced at him, eyes narrowed.
"Hm. Nothing." He smiled.
John POV
Well, this was awkward and unexpected. My friends and I are over here chatting in the tent and next thing you know Alex's sister is here, too. Not that I was too upset about it...
But that would mean her and Lafayette would probably be gushing over each other the entire time.
"Hey, (Y/N), wanna walk around camp a little?" Alex suggested.
"We'll come with!" Hercules smiled.
"Sure." (Y/N) shrugged with a straight face.
Weird...
We walked out of the tent together and just talked. Every now and then someone would whistle at (Y/N) and call her names I'd rather not say. I'd get defensive at times, but before I could say something, she did.
"Don't stare, it's rude!" She'd shout at the men staring at her.
Then she'd walk right up to the men who whistled at her and called her names and gave them a whole lecture, all while gripping their shirts or ear, about how it was rude to stare and call people names and how it offended her.
Wow, how I admired that women. And wow, what I'd give to be Lafayette.
A/N
Wow it's a decent sized chapter
OMG we're actually getting somewhere with this story *snort*
