All I saw was darkness, I felt cold and alone. It felt as if I wasn't real, almost as if I was watching nothing from the sky. My first thought was that I was dead. I heard a deep moaning noise like someone was in pain.
"Aisley." I heard a rough masculine voice whisper from the blackness of my surroundings. I saw a figure that was somehow darker then the rest of my surroundings. Something about it's dark aura lured me to it. I reached out in the direction of the darkness, I couldn't move. I felt stuck.
"Hello?" I called out into the darkness. Suddenly voices from all around me began screaming in my ears. I brought my hands up to save my hearing. It felt that hundreds of people were repeating the same things but getting louder.
"You turned her against me!"
"I loved you!"
"You betrayed me for him!"
"Traitors!"
"I hate you!"
"You were my sister!"
"You are vile!"
The voices continued to scream at me. They were a mix of different people. They all sounded familiar, but I couldn't focus on any one voice. But the thing I focused on was a deep breathing. The breathing felt as if it belonged to someone hurt and confused. I fell to the ground due to the overloading of voices screaming at me. I cried out and slammed into the non existent floor.
"Enough!" I cried out cradling myself in a ball. The voices immediately stopped, but I still continued to cry. I lifted my head up to see a bright light moving closer and closer towards me. This was it, I was dying. I would never see Ben or Ani again. The bright light stopped in front of me. I squinted my eyes due to the brightness. A soft feminine voice calmly spoke from within the bright light.
"Do not listen to them child. You are powerful and righteous. You will save them in the end. You can protect them all. Remain faithful and positive. Love will be your most useful weapon in your quest. Ignore the pull to the darkness. You are strong, farewell for now, Aisley."
I wanted to ask the female so many questions. Who was she? What did she mean? And how am I supposed to save everyone? Before I could mouth a single word I woke up.
I was back in my room on Courascant. I was wearing my pajama shorts and a plain white tank top. The last thing I remembered was fighting Ventress on the Tranquility. I shakily stood up and walked to the mirror. I looked exhausted, I had dark bags under my eyes and was extremely pale.
"I was starting to think you would never wake up." A familiar voice laughed but I could sense a small hint of worry. I turned around to see a smiling Aayla sitting in a chair in the corner of my room. She stood up and walked towards me. I ran meeting her half way. I embraced her in a long needed hug.
"Aayla! What are you doing here?" I cheered squeezing her tighter then ever before.
"I will tell you after you stop killing me." She breathed out. I quickly let go and gave her a silent apology.
"After you passed out, the assassin and Viceroy Gunray escaped with the help of Captain Argyus. We sent Master Fisto out to retrieve them, but I don't know if the mission was a success or not. I just know that you randomly passed out in the middle of a battle. Ahsoka brought you back her to your brother then he had to leave for another mission." Aayla explained.
"Master Kenobi and your brother were very worried about you. The doctors have no idea what caused you to collapse like that." She explained, my heart skipped a beat at the thought of Obi-Wan. I hoped he wasn't too worried.
"Well, I'm up now and I'm bored. So let's do something." I laughed wobbling a little on my feet.
"You'll need rest and to rehydrate so you'll be prepared in your next mission." Aayla stated examining me up and down in suspicion.
"I'm fine, let's go do something fun." I suggested smiling.
"Fine, but first changed. You look like a mess, and you smell bad." Aayla scrunched her nose in disgust. I rolled my eyes, I couldn't smell that bad. I brought my arm above my head and smelt my armpit. My nose scrunched up, I smelt horrible. I looked up to see a smirking Aayla. I stomped my way into the bathroom and showered. I took a long shower on purpose to annoy Aayla.
Aayla and I always joked around, but I loved her. She can get a little grumpy and strict but she had her moments. I knew she loved me just as much. After I was separated from Ani as a youngling, I would cry myself to sleep at night. When Aayla began to realize how distraught I was from losing my brother. She taught me a way I could feel his presence through the force. It wasn't like the pain we feel when one of us is hurt. Or the connection we feel when we were thinking the same thing. It was as if I could feel him breath and his heart beat through me. Focusing on his heart beat every night is how I survived my training without him. For that I will always owe her.
After exiting the shower I dried myself off and walked out. Aayla sat impatiently waiting for me on my bed.
"Took you long enough, did you flood the whole Temple?" Aayla laughed standing up. I rolled my eyes and used the force to throw a pillow hitting her face. She caught it easily with her hand.
"You really thought you could get me that easily." She smirked in cockiness. I smiled a big goofy grin and shook my head.
"No just a distraction."
She didn't have any time to look confused. I had a blanket floating above her, using the force I let it go. It dropped over her blocking her vision. Before she could pull it off I screamed my battle cry and jumped on her. Tackling her to the bed. She yelled in shock as I crushed her with my five three frame.
"Aisley? Get off of me!" She attempted to scream. But all I could hear was her muffled cries. I laughed as she struggled to push me away.
"Say I'm the greatest and most powerful Jedi you have ever seen!" I laughed pushing myself farther onto her.
"Never!" She yelled laughing at the end. I pushed harder onto her smiling at the playfulness we both were enjoying. These were the moments that I treasured when I was with Aayla.
"Fine, then you leave me no choice." I snarled playfully. She cried out as I reached my hands out and began tickling her along her neck. I had discovered that she was ticklish there when I was fourteen and snuck up behind her. That didn't end so well for me. She made me attempt to ride a Nexu.
"Fine! Fine." Aayla cried out. I pulled away from her, but still laid on top of her. I moved the blankets to reveal her head. She glared up at me.
"Aisley Skywalker is the greatest Jedi I've ever seen." She mumbled in annoyance.
"You forgot most powerful." I smirked down staring into her annoyed eyes.
"And the most powerful." She sighed glaring daggers into my blue eyes.
"Thank you." I smiled innocently before rolling off of Aayla. She sat up quickly and glared at me. I stood up and waited in front of her for her to rise up.
"I hate you so much." She glared sitting up abruptly and facing me.
"No you don't. What would you do without me?" I laughed smiling at her. All I got in return was an eye roll.
"I would have been a lot less stressed and old." I heard her silently mumble to herself.
"Yeah, but then I would probably be no better then those who were sold into prostitution or dealers. Like those lowlives on the lower levels." I growled. It was true, if I had stayed on that planet at least until I was fourteen Watto would have sold me to someone who would destroy me. That's why I am so grateful to have been able to leave. Watto had threatened me numerous times about how I would be sent away to become a sex slave. Ani never knew about that, I don't think I'd ever want him to know either.
"So what do you wanna do?" I asked shaking myself out of my thoughts. I grabbed my belt off of my dresser that held my saber along with my other devices. She thought long and hard for a second before smiling.
"I have an idea."
After a long trip down to the lower levels of Coruscant. Aayla and I walked through the disgusting streets. On the lower levels was where all of the crime on the planet originated from. Here and then I would see someone dealing death sticks or stealing from someone. This was horrible, everyone who lived down here were despicable. I may have been a slave in my past, but I would never lower myself down to their levels of self pity and hate. That is the cowards way. Only cowards turn to drugs and crime when they are at their worst.
"These people are horrible." I squinted in disgust looking over the filthy people who littered the streets.
"You can not assume everyone down here is vile as the people who raised you." Aayla explained calmly placing her hand on my shoulder comfortably.
"Not everyone was vile." I shot back thinking of my mother. She was the only one besides Ani. I think about her everyday. I remember when she would do my hair everyday almost like a princesses'. She would do long braids that wrap around my head. Or she would place two buns on either side of my head. That was always my favorite of her hair styles.
I felt a little tug on the back of my belt. It was the spot Where I placed my credits. I spun around to see a small figure running in the distance dropping a few coins here and then.
"Hey!" I called after them. I ran in the direction of the thief. I could hear Aayla calling from the distance. I paid no attention to her, it wasn't like I needed the credits. I just wanted to teach the thief a lesson. They took many twist and turns. But I could keep up with them. I shoved my way through the crowds of the dirty bums. Finally the thief turned into a alley. They wore an old dirty cloak masking their face and body. They ran into a fence blocking them from escaping, I could hear them struggle to find a way out.
"There's nowhere to run to, little thief." I spat I still couldn't see the persons face. The thief fell to the ground and cried silently. I approached them with a victorious smirk. I ripped the cloak off of their head. To reveal a small little girl covered in dirt and bruises all along her face. She had a large purple bruise on her left cheek. I could see the tears welled up in her eyes. She was just a little girl, eleven at the oldest. She had dark brown hair and brown eyes, she was extremely pale. Probably from living in the lower levels and never seeing the planets sun.
"Are you going to kill me?" She cried wiping away her tear stained face. I could tell she was trying to remain brave. She didn't want me to see her cry. I couldn't move, I was frozen. I stared with my mouth agape watching this little girl remain strong in front of me. After some time I finally remembered how to talk.
"I-I'm not going to hurt you." I smiled taking a small step closer to her. She backed up farther into the fence, I stopped moving.
"I'm Aisley, what's your name?"
"D-Danny." She mumbled out in fear. She dug into her pockets and retrieved the credits she had stolen from me.
"Please d-don't kill me w-with your Jedi laser." She cried our throwing the currency on the ground in front of me. I crouched down eye level to her.
"How do you know I'm a Jedi?" I smiled playfully.
"I saw your laser sword when I stole from you." She mumbled.
"Perceptive little thing. Do you know anything about Jedi?" I asked tilting my head. I sensed something about her. The same thing I sensed in all the other younglings. She was clearly a force sensitive child.
"Only that they're supposed to protect the galaxy." She smiled.
"Then why did you assume I was bad?" I smiled.
"I thought you might have stolen it from a Jedi you killed." She stated fearfully.
"Well, I can clarify that I am a Jedi and I am one of the good guys. Now, why were you trying to steal?" I asked looking her straight in the eye. Her eyes Started to grow in size and she looked slightly nervous.
"I-I um, I needed it to buy food." She faked a smiled. I knew she was lying, I looked her over in suspicion. I opened my mouth to say something.
"Aisley Skywalker! Why do you always have to start something! Litterly everywhere we go you cause issues!" I heard her before I saw her. I rolled my eyes and sighed before standing up and facing an infuriated Aayla. I stood in front of Danny blocking her from Aayla's view.
"What is it, Aayla" I sighed in annoyance.
"You do not just run away like that and start chasing people!" I can't be-" she paused staring behind me. I looked down to see Danny peaking out from behind me.
"Who is this?" Aalya asked softly changing her tone. Danny stepped back and grabbed onto my waist for protection. I looked down to see a look of fear present on her features. I frowned, this little girl has gone through a lot.
"This is Danny, I caught her stealing from me." I felt her let go and take a step backwards. She took a deep breath, I knew what she was gonna do. Because I had attempted it quite a few times. Just as expected, Danny ran heading for the opposite end of the alley. I lifted my hand up and she flew up into the air. She screamed and yelled.
"Please try not to do that again. It never works." I sighed.
"Trust me, I know." I mumbled to myself, flashes of Watto' beating me whenever I disobeyed him. Watto hated me, I never knew why. But he always favored Ani over me. Ani would still get in trouble, but not as much as me. I slowly placed her back on the ground.
"Sweetie, where do you live?" I asked walking up to her. I wanted to help her, I first needed a reason as to why she needed help. She nodded her head and led us down the road to a dirty hotel. We entered the hotel, it looked completely abandoned.
"Danny, where are your parents?" Aayla asked standing besides me.
"This way." She replied sulking as she walked down the hall of the hotel. The lights above seemed to flicker. There was holes in the walls along with mold. It smelt horrible. This was inhabitable I had no idea how someone could possibly live here. I was not going to leave her here. Farther down the hall I could hear someone yelling.
"Where is that schutta at? I'll kill the little snark when she gets back." The voice cursed.
Danny entered the room fear was the only thingvI saw. The little girl was terrified, my need to help her grew even more. She began to shake as she entered the room.
"Where have you been!" The mans voice yelled. I stood in the doorway and watched as she flinched away from him. He still hasn't noticed me.
"Did you get the credits for my deathsticks?" He asked calmly. That little liar, she didn't need food she needed money to buy drugs for this sleemo. She shook her head in fear, the man stood up and walked towards her. He picked up an empty bottle besides him and readied himself to hit her. I Couldn't just watch and let him harm her.
"Why you little -"
I cut him off by using the force to throw him into the wall. He fell to the ground unconscious. I looked down at him in pride, people like him deserved to rot. I finally got a good look at him. He was a Transdoshan and an ugly one.
I felt another wave of pain almost like I had on the Tranquility. But it was less painful, it still stung. After a few minutes the pain vanished. Maybe it was Anakin? Was he hurt? I shook the thought away, I needed to focus on this moment.
"That's it, I'm taking you with me. I'm taking you to the temple." I stated abruptly.
"Wait r-really?" She stuttered in awe. I smiled and crouched down to her eye level.
"How would you like to go up to the upper levels and be happy?" I smiled. She bounced up and down in joy. She nodded her head, I could feel Aayla watching me. I looked up to see her smiling down at me.
We made our way back to our speeder with little Danny skipping besides me. She opened up more and even rode on my shoulders. All I needed to do next was have the council approve of her training. I wish I could be her Master. But there was a war going on right now, I couldn't bring a child as little as her into battle.
When we arrived at the Jedi temple Aayla and I walked on either side of little Danny. She looked up at everything around her in awe. She reminded me of me when I first arrived here. Aayla ran ahead and informed the council of what we needed to talk to them about.
"Now, you have to listen to me and answer everything they say. You think you can do that?" I asked smiling down at her. She nodded her head enthusiastically. Aayla was already inside talking to the council, Danny and I waited outside the doors until we were cleared to enter. Finally after sometime Aayla stuck her head outside the door with an emotionless face.
I pushed Danny slightly in front of me, when we entered . Only Yoda, Plo Koon, and Windu were really here. The others were holograms, I noticed everybody from the council was here except Ani and Ben. The two I counted the most on to help me.
"Master Skywalker, honor it is to see you." Yoda greeted with a friendly smile.
"And you." I smiled back nodding my head.
"Now what is this you mean of a new youngling?" Master Windu questioned folding his hands looking deep in thought.
"I have found a force sensitive youngling on the lower levels of Courascant. She had been physically and verbally abused from what I have seen. I request that she trains in the Jedi way, as she should." I smiled looking down at Danny. She stood in front of me trying to look brave. Master Windu stood up and done the exact same test with Danny as Ani and I did when we first arrived. As expected, she passed.
"Coincidence it is that you would save a child from a horrible life just as Master Qui-Gon had for you and your brother, odd it is." Yoda looked at me skeptically. But I could sss a faint smile.
"Shes a poor innocent little girl who needs someone to guide her in the right path. Is she able to train?" I asked.
"She is older then the common Youngling, but with time and practice. She may become a great Jedi. When she is older, we will allow you to take her under your wing as your Padawan." Master Windu smiled.
"Thank you!" I cheered hugging Danny, I was so happy she had a chance to find her future. Realizing where we were I pulled away and dropped my smile. I thanked the council and left with little Danny and Aayla walking besides me.
The three of us walked down the hall heading in the direction of the younglings corridors. When we reached the door I knelt down to Danny's eye level.
"So I guess this is where we part ways for now?" I smiled with sadness. A single tear ran down her cheek. Within a second Danny had enveloped me in a hug.
"Thank you." She cried. My heart broke a little at the slight crack in her voice.
"I will visit, we do live in the same building and when you get older we'll be spending a lot of time together." I laughed.
"I can't wait for that." She smiled, she pulled away and walked trough the doors leading to the Youngling center. I stood up and watched as she walked towards some of the other younglings and began talking to them.
"So, looks like you got yourself a future Padawan." I heard Aayla smirk from besides me. I rolled my eyes and elbowed her in the ribs. She cried out in pain, I just smirked.
"Now what have you learned from this little adventure?" I heard Aayla smirk.
"Not to judge someone because of where they live." I sighed out in exhaustion.
"I'm so proud that I can say I trained you. Because you really are a powerful Jedi." Aayla smiled, The two of us walked down the hallway back in the direction of my room. Right when we reached my door I could hear someone running through the hall.
"Aisley!" They called. I looked up to see a panic Ahsoka. She stopped in front of me out of breath.
"It's Anakin." She sighed out in exhaustion.
"What about Anakin?" I asked getting worried.
"He's missing."
