~ I wanna go home ~
“Please tell me you’ve heard from them?” Yoongi’s voice was desperate, pleading and when he heard the sigh from the other end he felt his hope die inside.
“If I did I would have called you, wouldn’t I?” Yoongi watched as the brunette on the screen pushed his glasses further up his slim nose and shook his head.
“I don’t care if I sound like an ass but isn’t it your job to find them? I mean, that’s literally your job, Yoongi; to find missing people. Why haven’t you found my cousins yet? They couldn’t have gone far” Yoongi’s heart pounded as guilt seeped in. Hoseok was right; they should have been found by now. Yoongi ran a hand through his almost white hair and sent Hoseok a helpless gaze.
“I’m doing everything I can, Hobi. Trust me when I tell you I want to find Jimin and Taehyung as much as you do” Hoseok bit his lip and looked to his lap. Yoongi had been close with the boys for a long time - he was practically family - and he knew how he felt about Jimin. Hoseok knew Yoongi was trying.
“I know...I’m sorry…” Yoongi shook his head.
“Don’t worry I know you’re stressed...Hey, Hobi?” Hoseok raised his eyes in question and Yoongi leaned forward, chin in his palm.
“You knew they were leaving, right?” Hoseok nodded slowly, wary of Yoongi’s tone.
“Yeah…”
“What was the plan?” Hoseok gave a small shrug and leant back in his seat, crossing his hands over his stomach.
“I don’t even know to be honest...Jimin called me the night before they went missing and said they both needed a place to stay for a little while”
“And you just agreed?” Hoseok frowned at Yoongi.
“With their situation at home? Yeah, I ‘just agreed’...Jimin said he’d be up here within the next few days and that he’d call me when they reach Gwangju” Hoseok’s image flickered and he tapped the laptop a few times to get it to behave.
“So they were taking the train?” Hoseok nodded.
“Well they’re not going to walk, are they?” Yoongi rolled his eyes.
“Sarcasm doesn’t suit you, Sunshine” Hoseok gave his friend a sad smile.
“And grief doesn’t suit you, Yoongs”
“Huh?” Hoseok gestured to his screen, to Yoongi.
“You look a mess, when was the last time you got any rest? Or had a shower…”
“Hey! I showered this morning!”
“Your hair looks frazzled, your eyes have more bags than a luggage claim and you’ve clearly been crying…”
“What is this, insult Yoongi day?” Hoseok’s expression suddenly became serious, something so rare it slightly frightened Yoongi.
“...you look like your grieving a dead person…” Yoongi frowned, looking at the little box in the corner that showed his own image. He clicked it, expanding it, and realised that Hoseok was right.
“They’re not dead, Yoongi” The policeman spoke without thinking.
“...How do you know?” There was silence where neither men wanted to answer because they knew that there was nothing they could say. They boys had been missing long enough for people to start assuming that they won’t be coming back - but neither wanted to admit it out loud.
“Yoongi I…”
Bzzz...Bzzz...Bzzz…
Yoongi jumped as his phone vibrated on his desk and he gave Hoseok an apologetic smile.
“Sorry, give me a second?” Hoseok nodded and gestured for him to answer.
“Sure, not like we were having a conversation or anything” Yoongi showed Hobi his middle finger and the younger chuckled as he placed the phone to his ear.
“Min Yoongi”
“Suga? I need your help” Yoongi made a noise of annoyance at the back of his throat, making Hoseok raise his eyebrows in question.
“I’m working right now, kid, you’ll have to wait”
“No-no! Please I...I need you”
“Ask one of your friends, I told you not to call this number…”
“Please don’t hang up! I need your help, just you, please Yoongi hear me out” Yoongi could hear the desperation in the man’s voice but chose to ignore it.
“Where were you when I needed your help, hm? If it’s really that serious then call the police or get one of your friends to help you - I’m busy”
“No, wait-” Yoongi hung up the phone and threw it back onto the desk. He ran his hands down his face, exhausted, and heard Hoseok chuckle on screen.
“Who was that?”
“Just my cousin” Hoseok’s eyes drifted as he tried to remember what Yoongi’s cousin looked like…
“Oh! That Daniel kid?” Yoongi nodded and rested his chin on his arms, laying down on the desk.
“Yeah, him” Hoseok frowned in confusion.
“Why so hostile? Last I heard you two were inseparable - practically twins” Yoongi rolled his eyes and huffed out a sigh.
“Were fighting. I asked for his help with the search when I heard Jimin and Tae had gone missing and he flat out refused...Kid practically avoided me and he has the nerve to call me asking for my help?” Hoseok shook his head.
“He’s been through a lot, Yoongi. Remember that friend of his that went missing? It probably brought back bad memories” Yoongi shrugged, not particularly caring.
“Don’t be a brat and just make up already” Yoongi was about to defend himself when his phone rang again making Hoseok smile and wave dramatically towards the phone.
“There you go! It’s a sign!”
“Hobi it might not even be him again…”
“Well if it is I want to see you apologise and make up!”
“Tch, this brat” Yoongi placed the phone back to his ear, glaring at Hoseok. He waited for his cousin to start begging again, but felt the colour drain from his face seconds later.
“Hyung?” Yoongi’s eyes widened and Hoseok grew anxious at the way the older was now shaking.
“Yoongi? Yoongi what’s wrong?” Yoongi ignored Hoseok, not really hearing him, and tried to contain the sob that was threatening to escape his lips.
“J-Jimin?”
