It's November 17th today. To other people, I don't think anything special really happens today, but it's Skuy's birthday, and that's special to us despite him thinking it's not. Dahvie and I were just setting up some finishing touches for the party that we were having for him. Like we'd promised him, it wasn't going to be big. The only people we invited were Jeffree, Stephen, and Nada (and her little girl), and they had all come. Jeffree, Nada, and Amber were in the living room with Dahvie, doing something or other.
Stephen was helping me put the finishing touches on the frosting of the cake that Dahvie made. Skuy was going to be here any minute now, and I needed to stick this in the fridge. We wrote 'Happy 21st' in the center, and each of us drew a stupid little icing picture on it somewhere else. I can be artistic on a piece of paper, but drawing with icing on a cake seems to give me trouble. A lot of trouble.
"Okay, awesome." I said, mostly to myself. I don't really know if it looks anything like what it was supposed to be, but it was done. I have to say that the cake looks pretty fucking fantastic, and Skuy would get what it was supposed to be. It's super convenient that we have so many stupid inside jokes
"Alright." Stephen replied. "Awesome! Shove the icing somewhere and I'll put it in the fridge."
As I was putting the icing in the cupboard and Stephen was doing that, I got a text from Skuy. Am I allowed to come in? I shouted to Dahvie that he was here and went to go get the door for him. It wasn't like this was a surprise or anything. He knew we were having a party because we planned it a while ago, but he doesn't know who was here (besides Dahvie, myself, and Amber) or what we've got planned.
I opened the door to find him standing there. He smiled when he saw me and I gave him a hug. I thought he might have stayed in the car because I never texted him back, but he didn't, obviously. (Stephen got a new car last week, so he gave Skuy his old SUV.)
"Hi." He said, laughing.
"Hello!" I kissed his nose and he scrunched it up and made a face like he always does.
"Eww..." He tried to make it sound whiny but he just kind of sounded silly. I think he knew it, because he laughed. "Okay, seriously, can I come in?"
"Yes, you can." I let him go, took his hand, and brought him inside.
"So... who's here?" He asked me with a quizzical, slightly suspicious look on his face.
"Dahvie, of course. Jeffree, Amber, Stephen, and Nada." I replied. "And a certain somebody who is very excited to see you again."
"Nada brought Lydia?" I told him yes and he smiled happily. Then he jokingly said, that "Nobody better be offended if I hang with the little kid more than them."
"I'm sure that none of us would be. I know how you are with her." I laughed and took him into the living room where Dahvie immediately jumped in behind him and covered his eyes.
"Hey..." Skuyler frowned and crossed his arms. He'd be (mostly jokingly) pissed if Dahvie fucked up his eye-makeup. "Why am I not allowed to see?"
"Because a two year old accidentally unwrapped one of your presents and Jeffree is fixing it." Dahvie replied, grinning. "Calm your tits."
"Hmm. I am perfectly calm, Dahves." Skuy smirked and then frowned again. "Also I told you guys not to get me presents..."
"We realize that, cutie," Amber said happily, skipping over to us, "but we decided to ignore that request."
"Ugh..." Skuy groaned and Dahvie let go of him. I dunno if he did it because Amber called him cute, because we ignored him, or both. "You're all difficult."
Amber hugged him and shrugged. "Whatevs." She was still smiling happily. She's been waiting for this day forever. "I promise I made sure nobody went too overboard with anything." She was very excited.
"Too?" Skuyler mumbled, glancing over his shoulder at me.
She pulled him over to the presents and started explaining that we spaced about making actual food so we just have cake, which we are going to get out once we do some stuff. Stuff which includes opening presents.

Despite that fact that I absolutely despise celebrating my birthday, the little party they all put together wasn't all that bad. They made this adorable cake, and although some of the gifts they got me were a little overboard, I appreciated that they did it. (Jeffree, of course, supplied me with some of his new merch. I guess I must have mentioned wanting it at some point. It's a good thing I never got around to buying it myself.) Jayy and I were also, apparently, now going to a Suicide Silence concert in the next week or so. I didn't even know they were in town! I haven't seen them since before Mitch died... and it's been a while since then.
Jeffree and Stephen left about a half an hour ago, and Jayy, I think, was talking to Dahvie in the living room.
I heard footsteps and then Jayy. "You gonna stay over, boo?" He asked me, coming into the kitchen where I was sitting at the table. He draped his arms over my shoulders from behind me and put his chin on my head. I knew he must be leaning over to do it.
"I think," I replied, shrugging.
"Pretty please?" He asked.
"Hmm..." I pretended to think about it for a few seconds, even though I knew that I was going to. "I suppose."
"Wonderful!" He kissed the top of my head. "So, do you feel twenty one?"
"I feel the same as I felt yesterday when I wasn't." I answered.
"Oh, now that's surprising." I knew he was making that face he makes when he's pretending to be genuinely surprised and thoughtful about something that isn't really that surprising at all.
"Oh?"
"Uh..." He mumbled something that I didn't catch and it felt like he shrugged. "Not really, actually. I think that's normal."
"I think numbers are silly." I replied. "Like, society makes it so how many years you've been alive denotes your maturity."
"Or whether or not you're going to be responsible with what you're able to do." He said. "I certainly wasn't very responsible."
"If you're talking about drinking and shit, I think you were being irresponsible with that before you were old enough to legally be irresponsible with it. Also, so was I."
After a few seconds, he laughed and said "True." Then his arms disappeared from my shoulders and he was standing beside me with a look on his face like he'd forgotten to tell me something. "Amber and Dahvie want to watch a movie. You in?" And there it was.
"Sure." I said, standing up. I had nothing against watching a movie with the two of them, and of course it also meant that I got to cuddle with Jayy on a couch. And I love doing that.
"I don't know what it is, but apparently we may possibly have seen it before." He told me.
"Oh, alright. I don't really mind if we've seen it before."
He smiled. He didn't either. I could tell by his eyes. I followed him into the living room, and we sat together on the unoccupied couch. Amber waved at me, looking like she was going to fall asleep any minute. I wouldn't be surprised if she did. She worked late last night, I think, and now she was up late again.
Her and Dahvie were the most adorable thing ever, and through all the time I've known him, he seems to be the happiest he's ever been in the time since they met each other.

The next morning, Skuy had to leave pretty early to go to work. He drove Amber home when he left, and Dahvie and I were left in the kitchen with no idea what to do now that they were gone. I'm pretty sure he has plans later. Something about going to a bar with a few of his friends. He invited me to go when I asked if it was still on, but I declined. Even though I kind of wanted to do something, looking out the window and seeing that it was pouring rain kind of changed my mind.
It's way too dark and gloomy to have any fun, so I'll probably just end up smoking a joint and staying in my room.
- A week and three days later -
I just picked up Skuyler and we were driving to the theatre. We'll be just in time to see the movie we decided to go to today. We didn't really want to do anything huge for our anniversary. I don't think either of us are really that kind of person. But we are going out to dinner/lunch after at a restaurant that we both like that we hardly ever go to except on 'special' occasions, and then after that we're going to the Suicide Silence show.
When we got to the movie, we chose seats kind of in the back behind where everyone else was. That way, it would be less likely anyone was going to annoy us. Or at least we wouldn't be able to hear them whispering, and if we wanted, we could whisper and no one would be able to hear us. Skuyler shut off the volume on his phone and pushed up the armrest in between us. I don't know if it was more because he liked to cuddle during movies or because the one we had (surprisingly) decided to see happened to be a horror movie. I thought it was much more likely that we'd be seeing Philomena or Old Boy today, but instead we were seeing Contracted. And I'm pretty fucking sure the chick's fingernails come off.
Skuy slid his hand into mine and put his head on my shoulder. I whispered to him that there was still time to catch a different movie if he was having second thoughts. "No," he whispered back. "I'll be okay. And anyway, I know you want to see this."
"You're positive?"
He nodded. "I'll just use you to hide if I need to." He laughed quietly and brushed his hair out of his eyes.
The previews for other movies started, and most of the trailers they played were for other horror/scary movies. Except for the trailer for the second Hobbit movie. I knew Dahvie and Skuy were super excited for that. They'll probably see it with Amber and I.
The lights in the theatre turned all the way off and the screen was completely black. Typical ominous horror movie music started to play. Since we were in close to the last row and there was nobody behind us (or directly in front of us) I put my feet up on the seat. I knew Skuy would at some point do the same, and not to stretch out his legs. It was kinda cute. He'd block out the screen with his shoes when he didn't want to see something.
I squeezed his hand reassuringly, knowing that nothing bad was going to start happening until this chick had sex with the strange man at the party.
Skuy spent less of the movie than I thought looking at his shoes, and he didn't seem too upset by it when they lights turned back on and I could see him clearly again. "So," I paused, "thoughts?"
"I certainly won't be having sex with any strangers ever again." He replied. Then he frowned.
"Again?" I laughed.
"You know what I meant." He rolled his eyes, kissed my cheek, and stood up. His phone crashed to the floor and he exhaled heavily. I stood up and he leaned down to grab it, quickly checking it to see if any of the little cracks on the screen had gotten any worse. He didn't say anything about it, so I'm guessing they were fine.
"I do." I replied. "You ready to go?"
"Sure." He smiled and waited patiently while I stretched.
When we got to the restaurant, we were just in time for the reservation that we made. We didn't even really need to make one. It was a fantastic restaurant, but it was just unknown enough that it didn't get gigantic crowds at this time of day. Which was great. I didn't really like super crowded restaurants, mostly because of the noise. Skuy doesn't like people watching him eat. I've learned that about him through our time knowing him. It makes him anxious, but he seems better about it when I'm with him. I don't know why exactly that is, but I'm okay with it, of course.
I wasn't going to tell him why, but I mentioned that we had to be at the venue a little early. He didn't question me telling him that. So we ate a nice meal, had a great conversation, and then left. The tickets I'd gotten for Suicide Silence were actually VIP, which is why we have to go earlier than we might have just to stay in line. But I was keeping that part of it a surprise, as his present, because I know he didn't want me to actually get him anything.
He gave me a design for my back piece that he drew, which I absolutely love, as a present earlier today when he came over in the morning. I had no clue that he was working on it, and I don't even know how long he has been. I know that I've talked to Dahvie a lot about it over the last year or so, but I never really thought that Skuy was listening to those conversations as intently as he must have been to design what he did. It was fantastic! I can't even put it into words. And to top it all off, he told me that he was going to tattoo it for me, whenever I decide that I want to start it.
I didn't want anything more than him today, and yet he surprised me with that. He was absolutely the sweetest!
We got to the venue right when we needed to, and he gave me a shocked, questioning look when the security guys smiled at me and waved us in. I chuckled at him and didn't say anything as I took him through the door and down into the venue floor.
"They knew you were coming?" He asked me, giving me a puzzled frown.
"No, they knew you were coming." I replied. "Admittedly, because of me."
"What?"
"You're a special guest, boo." He briefly stopped walking but continued when I gently tugged his arm.
"You're insane." He laughed. "I'm going to embarrass myself like nobody's business."
"No you're not," I replied. "It's gonna be fine."
"Tell me you don't remember how I was when I met you and Dahves." He stated when I stopped us at the foot of the stage.
"You weren't that bad." I smiled. "I've seen worse!"
"Oh, fuck you." He rolled his eyes.
"What about when you met Jeffree?" I asked him.
"I'm pretty sure that I was most likely a blushing mess." He paused and frowned. "Also, I know you sent him to find shit out about me you ass."
"Oh..." I said. Did I never tell him I did that? Did Jeffree never tell him? Oops. "I meant to mention that."
"Sure." He smiled and rolled his eyes at me. "It's okay, I forgive you for being a sneak. You know, he made out with me."
"Really?" I asked.
"Yes." he answered. "And he told me that there were only two people at that party who deserved having me, one of which was him."
"Who was the other person?"
"You, silly." He laughed. "But of course he didn't tell me so I was confused about it for a long fucking time."
I pulled him into a hug and kissed his forehead. "You're incredibly cute." He pouted and denied it. Then, I let go of him, spun him around to face the door to backstage, and told him to get ready. He glanced over his shoulder with slightly panicked frown as Suicide Silence came in the door and walked toward us.
