Rick dropped the leather pack of weapons that Carl had managed to find on to hood of Carols car, rolling it open. "Everyone takes a weapon." He ordered.

Andrea rolled her eyes. "These aren't the kinds of weapons we need. What about the guns?" She asked, frustrated that she couldn't carry.

"We've been over that. Daryl, Rick, Charlotte and I are carrying. We can't have people popping off rounds every time a tree rustles." Shane sounded like he was getting annoyed with Andrea pestering them about her gun.

She put her hands on her hips. "It's not the trees I'm worried about."

Shane shook his head, looking at her. "Say somebody fires at the wrong moment, a herd happens to be passing by. See, then it's game over for all of us. So you need to get over it." Andrea backed down, knowing she'd lost the argument.

"The idea is to take the creek up about five miles, turn around and come back down the other side. Chances are she'll be by the creek. It's her only landmark." Daryl explained, walking away.

"Stay quiet and stay sharp. Keep space between you but always stay within sight of each other." I grabbed a curved machete, nodding at Rick.

I followed after Daryl and leaned against his truck. "Stay close to me." He instructed, cleaning some dried walker blood off his arrows.

I grabbed my gun and knives. "Daryl, I'll be fine. I can take care of myself." He scoffed. I raised my eyebrows at him and put my hands on my hips. "You don't think I can?" I asked.

He chuckled. "You're like a damn magnet to trouble."

I grinned and nodded in agreement. "Especially after I moved with Elizabeth. I was always getting into fights at school. They would bully me about my size. So I broke their nose."

He shook his head with a grin. "You had a good teacher."

We all head into the woods, Rick and Daryl leading. Daryl grabbed my arm. "Stay close. Don't argue." He mumbled in my ear. I nodded and trailed behind slightly, walking with Lori and Carl. Rick put a hand up, stopping us from walking any further.

We crouched down, everyone staring at the tent through the brush. "She could be in there." Shane whispered. Daryl stood, walking slowly towards the tent.

Soon followed by Rick, Shane and I. "Could be a whole bunch of things in there." He whispered back.

Daryl pulled out his hunting knife and held up a finger, telling us to stop. He walked around the tent, trying to see inside. He looked back at us and shrugged. Rick called for Carol. She rushed over to him, trying to keep her foot steps quiet. "Call out softly. If she's in there, yours is the first voice she should hear." Rick told her.

She nodded and stood in front of Rick, crouching slightly. "Sophia, sweetie, are you in there? Sophia, it's mommy. Sophia, we're all here, baby. It's mommy." No reply. Rick put a hand up, telling Carol to stay where she was. Rick, Shane and I walked closer to the tent as Daryl slowly unzipped it. I slowly pulled my gun from its holster, turning the safety off.

Daryl pulled it open and a horrible smell wafted out, we all started coughing. He went inside, not making a sound after. "Daryl?" I called out. "Daryl?"

He came out and looked at Carol. "It ain't her." He said. "What's in there?" I asked.

"Some guy. Did what Jenner said. Opted out. Ain't that what he called it?" I sighed, putting my gun away. After a very brief moment of silence, church bells started ringing in the distance. We all looked around, trying to follow the source.

Rick pointed and we all ran after him. "What direction?" Shane asked.

Rick pointed again. "I think that way. I'm pretty sure."

Shane kept looking around though. "Damn, it's hard to tell out here." But we were all trailing after Rick.

"If we hear them, maybe Sophia did too." Carol suggested, sounding hopeful.

Glenn fell into step beside Carol and I. "Someone's ringing those bells, maybe calling others." He suggested. "Maybe signalling that they found her."

I fell into step beside Daryl. "She could be ringing them herself. Come on!" Rick ran towards the sound of the church bells, all of us running after him.

We came to the edge of the woods and there in the middle of a graveyard was a church. Though there was no steeple. Shane was the first to speak. "That can't be it. Got no steeple, no bells. Rick." He called after Rick, who had ignored him and went towards the church anyways. We all followed.

We ran to the front doors and Rick, Shane, Daryl and I readied our weapons. Rick put a finger to his lips. Him and Daryl slowly pushed the doors open. There were three walkers sitting at the pillars. They turned to us and snarled, standing up. I handed Daryl my machete. Him, Rick and Shane attacked each one, killing them quickly.

Rick looked around, calling out for Sophia. But got no response. Daryl stared up at the statue of Jesus nailed to the cross. "Yo, J.C., taking any requests?" He handed me my machete after wiping the blood off it and I sheathed it in the holster on my hip.

"I'm telling you, it's the wrong church. It's got no steeple, Rick. There's no steeple." The bells started ringing again and we all ran outside, only to find a loudspeaker on the roof. I sighed, shaking my head.

Glenn went to the panel connected to it and ripped out wires, the ringing stopped. "A timer. It's on a timer." Daryl said, pointing up at the speaker.

"I'm gonna go back in for a bit." Carol announced, heading inside the church.

I shook my head and tied my knotted hair up in a bun, sitting down and leaning against a tree. "Dammit..." I cursed under my breath. There were footsteps behind me and someone sat down.

I didn't need to look to know who it was. "You need to talk about them. You'll go mad if you don't. You've done it before." Daryl said.

I looked at him, confused. "What?"

"You need to talk about Luke, and what This Zach asshole did to you. When you were 7 you blew up on me when I asked about your mom for the first time and wouldn't talk for a week. You have that same damn look in your eyes."

I sighed, realizing he was right and that I couldn't hide from my problems forever. I pulled at the grass in front of me as I began to speak. "Getting pregnant, let alone having sex was not my choice. Zach was...drunk. God, he was so drunk. He came home in a rage, ranting about how I'm just a useless whore who can't do anything right. Then he beat me, tied me to his bed, and he-" I cut myself off, putting a hand over my mouth and whimpering. Talking about it sent me right back there, sobbing and flailing and begging him to stop. When I looked over at Daryl I could see the anger in his eyes, but he waited, allowing me to gather myself.

Once I calmed down, I took a deep breath and continued. "When I found out I was pregnant, I left while he was out getting wasted with his friends. I lived with Liz again. Had Luke 9 months later. Zach came by 2 years later saying that he'd changed. Gone to rehab. Cleaned up his act. Begging me to come back to him. I was stupid to believe him. I moved back in, and the beatings started a week after Luke's 3rd birthday. Liz had refused to talk to me when I got back with Zach, so I couldn't go to her. My job payed shit. I was forced to stay. So I did. Then the world ended. Zach had been out all night and still wasn't back when I was watching the news, so I packed what Luke and I needed and left. And, here we are....Here I am." Daryl was silent, his eyes closed, clenching and unclenching his jaw and fists. His face was red with anger and he was shaking. I knew better than to bother him when he's like that, so I stood up and walked over to the rest of the group, who were gathering under another tree.

I sat next to Lori, smiling at her briefly, before turning my attention to Rick and Shane who were approaching us, both of them looking stressed. Daryl walked up after, and, despite his best efforts to hide it, I spotted his bloodied knuckles. Most likely from punching the tree. "Y'all gonna follow the creek bed back, okay? Daryl, you're in charge. Me and Rick, we're just gonna hang back, search this area another hour or so just to be thorough."

"You're splitting us up. You sure?" Daryl asked from beside me.
Shane sighed. "Yeah, we'll catch up to you."

Carl stood, stepping forward slightly. "I want to stay too. I'm her friend." Lori and Rick exchanged looks.

Lori put a hand on Carl's shoulder. "Just be careful okay?" Carl nodded. "I will."

She bent down to kiss his head. "When did you start growing up?" Someone nudged my shoulder.

I turned to see Daryl. Here we go. "You're staying with me."

I rolled my eyes, testing the sharpness of my knife. "Okay, dad." We walked off, away from Rick, Shane and Carl, Daryl making sure I was in sight.

We trudged through the woods, stepping over fallen trees and stray branches. "So this is it? This is the whole plan?"

Daryl shrugged, leaning against a tree. "I guess the plan is to whittle us down into smaller and smaller groups."

Andrea shifted her bag on her shoulder. "Carrying knives and pointy sticks." She complained, glancing at Lori. "I see you have a gun." I rolled my eyes, shaking my head.

"Why, you want it? Here, take it." She held the gun out to Andrea. "I'm sick of the looks you're giving me. All of you."

Andrea grabbed the gun, slackjawed. Lori sat down on a fallen tree. She focused on Carol. "Honey, I can't imagine what you're going through, but you have got to stop blaming Rick. It's in your face every time you look at him. When Sophia ran he didn't hesitate, did he? Not for a second. I don't know that any of us would have gone after her the way he did. Or made the hard decisions that he had to make or that anybody could have done it any differently. Anybody?"

She looked around at all of us, but none of us said a word. "Y'all look to him and then you blame him when he's not perfect. If you think you can do this without him, go right ahead. Nobody is stopping you." She took a swig of her water, shoving it back in her bag.

Andrea walked forward, holding out the gun to her. Lori grabbed it,shoving it in the back of her jeans. "We should keep moving." Andrea mumbled. We started walking again in silence.
