All rights go to the amazing mind that is Cassandra Clare for all the characters in this story.

Fur's POV

"What hell bent destruction shall we embark on today?" I asked the demon beside me. It looked up at me, giving a grunt. "Helpful." I clicked my fingers, making the demons body explode. I gave a sigh as I shook my boot, trying to get rid of the ichor. "I actually liked these." I said looking at them. I leant against the bar again, sipping my drink. I sighed.

"What is it, mistress?" Another demon asked.

"I thought this would all be more fun. I need something to do. Someone to torment."

"I thought you were tormenting that girl inside you?"

"Yes, I am. She's locked in a nice little corner of her mind. Right now, she thinks she is just living out her days in the asylum we found her at. But I want a more physical type of action." I stood up, looking at the demon beside me. "Go and find me another downworlder to have my way with."

"Of course. Right away." The demon said. "And, um, what about all the bodies?" It asked. I looked around the small bar at the victims of my power.

"Leave them." I smirked. "I think they really jazz up the place. Adds character, you know?" I said before sitting back down. I looked back at the demon. "Off you go then." It nodded before scurrying away. "Just can't get the staff these days." I said, under my breath.

Clary's POV

"Hey Daisy." I said walking into the day room.

"Hey Clary." She replied.

"You seen Mary and Alice today?" I asked.

"I think I Alice was with Isaacs last I saw her." She said as she filed her nails. "Not sure about Mary. Maybe the music room. You know how she loves it in there. Playing on the piano and stuff." I frowned.

"Mary can't play the piano?" I said confused. Alice laughed.

"What are you talking about? Of course she can." Alice looked up at me. "You remember all the times she has played for us. Just two weeks ago she did Beethoven." I frowned again as I looked at Alice.

"Huh, right. How could I forget." I said, acting as though I had remembered. But I hadn't. Mary never played. I was feeling slightly worried for Alice. Maybe her delusions were getting worse. I walked away from Alice, hoping to find Mary to ask about it and so I went away to the music room. As I walked inside, I did immediately hear the music from the piano but was more caught up looking at the rest of the room, which was now a completely different colour. The music stopped as Mary walked over to me.

"What you looking at?" She asked.

"The room. When did they redecorate?" I asked.

"What do you mean? They haven't redecorated."

"Of course they have, the walls are red."

"They have always been red, C. Can't believe you didn't notice in all the time you've been here."

"Is this a joke or something?" I asked as I turned towards her. I then frowned.

"What do you-"

"Where's your doll?" I asked, cutting her off. "You never leave the room without it?"

"What doll? I'm 25, I don't have a doll." I began backing away from her. What the hell was happening? I turned around quickly and walked out the room. I ran along the hallway and down to the nurses office.

"Hey, Clarissa. What do you need?" An orderly asked.

"Um, I want to talk to Nurse Hayes. I need to ask her-"

"Nurse Hayes?" He asked. "Don't think I know her. Is she a friend of yours?"

"What? No, she isn't a friend. She works here. You know her. She works nights with you."

"Um, I'm sorry Clary, I don't know her." I backed up again. Why were they all acting like this? My chest began to feel heavy and I couldn't breathe. "I think I should get the doctor." He said, picking up the phone but before I could react I fell to the ground as my eyes closed shut, seeing only the dark.

Jace's POV

"So, where do we go from here?" I asked Rose as we all sat down at the table in the kitchen.

"Well, I called the guy I was telling you about and he said that he would meet with us all today, so I guess we just all get ready to go." She looked at her watch. "I say we leave in an hour or so." Everyone nodded and got up to get ready. Rose caught up with me as I walked. "This should be all over soon. And I know how grateful Clary will be when she comes back, knowing we helped. But you need to be prepared, just in case it really is too late." I turned to her with a smile.

"I know that this isn't a sure thing. But one way or another, I promised Clary I would see it through." I sighed slightly. "I just regret some things that I did and said and even things I didn't do and say. We got in an argument just before she died and I just wish it never happened."

"She knew how much you loved her." Rose smiled. "She knows." She corrected herself. "And whether she said it back or not, she still loves you too." I put my hand on her shoulder for a moment and gave a sad smile before walking on.

After a while, everyone was ready and we left the institute to go and meet the guy Rose had been talking about. She was saying how he could help us catch the Fur and hopefully get Clary back. I saw Rose stop as we got to the park. "So, this is where we are meeting him?" I asked. Rose looked at me and gave a nod.

"Yeah, he said somewhere peaceful might take off some of the edge and he didn't want to meet at the institute so." I frowned.

"Why didn't he want to go to the institute?" I asked.

"I think it's just about neutral ground. The guy is a warlock and even though he's brilliant, he's still kinda nervous around authority figures."

"He knows we aren't actually the clave, right?"

"Yeah but you do work for them."

"Fair enough." I said.

"Anyway, he should be here soon." Just as Rose had said it, I saw a portal open up right behind her.

"Or he's here now." Alec said. Rose turned and saw the portal herself as we all waited for someone to step through. A cloud of green smoke came out first then we saw the figure emerge through the green. The portal closed and the man walked closer.

"Always did have a flare for the dramatic." Rose said as she stepped forward, walking to the man.

"You call it drama, I call it magic." Rose looked at the rest of us.

"Guys, this is Gaston." We all gave a nod his way. He looked towards the rest of us and looked as nervous as Rose said he would be.

"Don't worry. The clave won't even know about you helping us." I said, trying to reassure.

"Thanks. I would be glad if they didn't know. We had previous run ins. They weren't too pleasant a hundred years ago. Thank God for the accords." I gave a slight smile.

"If you don't mind me asking, what exactly is the plan?"

"Ah, straight down to business then." He said.

"Sorry, it's just that Rose explained time is essence. That this has to be done quickly."

"Yes. Yes. You're right. Well, the plan itself seems simple, it's executing it that will be difficult." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a piece of paper. He un folded it and turned it to us. It was a type of symbol. "This here is a trap. What we have to do is get the Fur to step inside once we draw it on the floor. Somewhere we know it will go or somewhere we can make it go. It will stop it from escaping the circle. It won't be able to cross the drawn lines. It will also in this case not be able to use the powers it got from the warlock that it's inhabiting."

"Clary." Rose said. He gave a nod.

"Right. It won't be able to use Clary's powers. From then on, we can bind it's wrists with magic and take it somewhere that we can get started on getting Clary back."

"Okay, so that's how to trap it." Isabelle said. "But what about actually getting her back? How do we do that?"

"Let's focus on one thing at a time." He said. "If we pull this off then I'll tell you. Now, do you have any idea where the Fur is?"

"We traced it to a bar earlier today but with it using Clary's powers, it's impossible to even get near unless it wants us to." Hodge explained.

"Well, step one, track it down again. From there we are just going to have to sort of wing it." Gaston said.

"Okay, we'll track it down and get back to you. We'll come back here in an hour or so." After that me, Alec, Isabelle and Hodge all went back to see Luke. We had told him the situation and with much annoyance agreed to help us again.

"You'll never guess where she is." Luke said after a moment. We all walked over to the computer and looked at the screen. A picture of the same bar we found the Fur at before was showing on the screen. We watched the video play and all watched as the Fur walked back into the bar. Just before it walked inside, it turned and looked up at the camera, giving a smirk before going through the doors. I looked up at Hodge.

"It knows that we're coming." I said.

"It's more than that." Hodge explained as he crossed his arms. "It wants us to come." We quickly made our way out of the police station and back to the park to meet Rose and Gaston again. We told them about what we had found, that we saw the Fur was still in the same bar.

"It never even moved. Clever really." Gaston said. "But if it's true that the Fur knows we are coming, we are going to need a plan."

"The way I see it, this is simple. We have the Fur enclosed in a small place and we do have the symbol that will trap it. All we have to do is set up the symbol outside one of the exits. Then we just lead it straight into the trap."

"Hmm, simple enough. Apart from the fact that it can fling us around like ragdolls with the movement of a hand." Isabelle reminded us.

"Like I said, I can help with that too." Gaston said. "If we trap it, we can then bind it's wrists, that will stop it from being able to use Clary's magic. Then we bring it somewhere safe where hopefully we can get your girl back."

"Is this going to work?" I asked.

"There's no guarantee. But what do we have to lose?"

"Yeah, except maybe the small matter of our lives." Alec said.

"I'm willing to risk that for her." I said, giving Alec a look. He gave a small smile before nodding.

"Then we best get on with this." In the next hour or so we all rushed around to get everything set up. Isabelle and Alec went away and found an abandoned building in which we could take the Fur back to once we had captured it. On the floor, they drew the symbol that would hold and trap the Fur whilst we could try and get Clary back when the time came. Whilst they were doing that, me and Rose went to the bar and drew the same symbol on the floor outside the doors. Hopefully where we would lead the Fur to walk through. Then lastly, Gaston had gone away to get the cuffs that would stop the Fur from using magic. It seemed like everything was coming together but I knew nothing was for sure. I just hoped that I could get her back. After a while, all the others had made their way back to the bar, all saying that had done what they had to do. We all looked at the doors of the bar before I stepped forward, resting my hand on the handle.

"Be careful." Isabelle said quietly as she looked at me. I gave a nod before pulling the door open.

"Be ready." I said back as I walked inside the bar. I heard the door close behind me as I kept stepping forward. It was almost pitch black inside and I could barely see but I kept moving forward. That's when the lights turned on and I looked up, seeing the Fur standing at the end of the bar. It gave a smirk.

"Honey. You're home." It said in a sultry voice. Although, I admit not being able to properly focus as my attention went to all the bodies covering the floor. I looked back up at the Fur. "Don't look at me like that. I was only having my fun."

"I can see that. Guess what you call fun is just what I call crazy."

"Crazy? Well, I guess me and Clary do have something in common then." It said with a laugh. It lost the amusement as it looked at me.  "Wanna know something?" It asked. I kept looking at it. "It actually hurts that you hate me." I frowned, shocked. "Yeah, weird. But I know that it's just Clary's soul that is influencing me to feel that. I almost don't want to hurt you." I gave a look of surprise. "Almost." It said with a smirk.

"Can we cut the crap and get on with this?" I asked.

"Straight down to business then? No foreplay before the pleasure I will feel when I kill you?" I unsheathed my blade, holding it up. The Fur sighed. "Then lets get started." I began to run towards the Fur, my blade out and willing to strike it down. Before I could even reach it, the creature flung out its hands, letting the sparks of magic be used to fling me back. I landed hard on the floor my blade my blade landing a few inches behind me. I saw the Fur coming closer and so I shuffled along the floor, grabbing my blade. I got up again and the Fur came at me, this time punching me square in the jaw. I thrust my blade forwards, hoping to knock the handle of the blade into its head but the Fur dodged the blade, making it slice through its arm. Clary's arm but I knew her body would be okay. As I pulled the blade back and went to go to hit forward again, the Fur grabbed my arm and spun me around with my hand behind my back. I cried out in pain slightly as I felt my arm click. It then took my arm and pushed forwards, making me fall to the ground. I knew I was losing the fight but that didn't matter as my goal was only to get the Fur closer to the door and because it kept pushing me back, I knew that I was now close enough. I got up from the floor quickly and only took one step forwards before the Fur extended its leg and kicked me in the chest. I was right near the door now and so I scrambled to my feet as I held my chest in pain. I quickly pulled open the door and rushed out as the Fur kept following me. I saw the circle that I knew would trap the Fur and I walked over it as the Fur kept coming. Just as it was about to step into the circle, it stopped. It looked up at me, a smirk rising on its face. "Did you really think I would be so stupid? Did you really think I would just step inside?" It asked as I laugh began to break out.

"No." I heard a voice. We both looked to the side and I saw Gaston. He thrust his hands forwards and the magic green sparks began to flow from his fingers and over to behind the Fur. Before I could contemplate what was happening a portal opened up and the Fur was sucked inside. "That's why we had a backup plan." Gaston finished cockily as he and Rose shared a smirk. We all ran over to the portal and quickly jumped through whilst it was still open. As we got through, I looked at my surroundings and noticed we were in and old warehouse. I quickly realised that this must have been the place that Alec and Isabelle had set up for after we had caught the Fur. I looked up and saw that the Fur was already inside the circle with cuffs around it's wrists. I felt the urge to say 'Clary's' instead of 'it's' but I knew it wasn't her. Not yet. Gaston walked closer to the circle and pushed the Fur's chest, making it sit down in the chair. I saw Isabelle walk forward with some ropes and begin to tie her to the chair. Once she was done she looked back at us.

"Just in case." She said with a shrug. We all looked forward at the Fur before looking towards Gaston.

"What do we do now?" I asked.

"Now you fail miserably." The Fur replied. We all looked over. "How long do you think these are really going to hold me?" It said, pulling on the ropes and cuffs that kept it trapped. I looked back at Gaston.

"It will hold won't it? Those cuffs and the circle will keep it trapped right?" Gaston gave a small nod.

"Mmm, he seems real sure about that." The Fur said.

"Shut up." I said looking at it. I turned to Gaston again.

"It will hold. But we should hurry." I gave a nod.

"Tell me what to do."

***

Gaston had taken us out of the warehouse and gone over a plan with us. He had told me that I would have to go inside Clary's mind and fix it from the inside, so to speak. Gaston said that I would have to actually make Clary come back because it was all to do with getting her mind in control again. Then once Clary has control, I would have to get her to push the Fur out and expel it from her body. "What if it's too late?" I asked. "How will I know?"

"If it is too late, then Clary won't be there anymore. So you'll know pretty quickly." I gave a nod.

"Okay, we should do this." Everyone nodded and we all walked back inside. I went to Clary's body and sat in the chair that was in front of her. I sat facing the Fur.

"So now you want to get up all close and personal." It said. I ignored its comments and sat forwards in the chair. I reached my hands up and I knew it panicked slightly, wondering what I was doing. I hovered my hands by the side of its head, following Gaston's instructions.

"Okay, now when you're ready just touch your fingers to her temples." I sighed as I gave a nod and looked back at my hands. I took another deep breath as I closed my eyes before moving my hands closer and touching her skin. I stayed there for a couple of seconds before reopening my eyes. I looked down and saw I was still in the same position.

"Uh, it didn't work." I said as I looked up to where Gaston was standing. But when I looked he was gone, they all were. I looked forwards again and saw Clary or the Fur had gone too. Then before I knew it, I was no longer in the warehouse. I put my hands down and looked around for a moment. What was going on? I thought back to what Gaston said when he was telling me the plan. 'It will be a strange experience. It won't be like this world. You won't understand what is happening but you need to keep going and do everything you can to find her. So if you think of her, hopefully you will get taken to where she is.' And so even from inside here, I followed his instructions and I thought of her. I thought of my Clary and when I opened my eyes again, I was somewhere different. It looked familiar and as I looked around, I figured out where I was. The Fur had said that Clary was locked inside her own mind, that she was in a place that was basically a nightmare to her and then I realised that she couldn't have been anywhere else. Of course she was in the asylum, or a version of it. Of course she was in the place she hated the most. I looked around a few seconds more before I began to walk down the small white hallway. I knew that I wasn't far from Clary's old room and so I walked even faster until I got there. The door was already open but when I walked inside there was nobody there. I turned away from the room. Well she was barely ever in there in the real world so I'm not surprised to see she isn't there in her own mind. I thought back to Clary talking about the asylum and how she spent most of her time in the day room and so I turned and walked down another small hallway before coming into the open space. I looked around quickly and that's when I saw her. Clary. She was sitting on one of the small sofa's on her own. She seemed to just be staring off into space. I walked slowly over to the sofa before sitting down next to her. Then I just stared for a moment. I may have still been seeing the Fur in Clary's body but I knew that wasn't her. But this was. This was her. I reached slowly forwards and touched her arm. She looked towards me. "Clary?"

"Hello." She said with a small smile. I smiled back but lost the look as I heard her next words. "Who are you?" She asked. "Have we met?" I felt a sickness rise up inside my stomach.

"Clary, it's me. It's Jace." I told her. "You don't remember me?" I asked. She looked at me as she shook her head.

"Should I?" She asked. Then she frowned. "Wait, are you the one that brought me here?" I then shook my head, not trusting my voice for a moment.

"No." I finally said. "No, I didn't. But I would like to get you out. But first you need to remember me." I told her. She looked up.

"Will you really help me?" I saw both hope and fear in her eyes. "I don't like it here. It isn't right. It's bad." She said, looking around wearily.

"What do you mean?" I asked with a frown.

"This place. There is something not right about it. Changes that nobody else seems to remember. Like the music room, it was painted white the last I remember it then it was red when I went in today. And you know Nurse Hayes?" I gave a nod, remembering the woman who had showed us in to the asylum when we had broken Clary out.

"Yes, I know her."

"Well, I asked for her yesterday and the other orderlies said they didn't know her. But I know she was here. Then there's Mary and her doll. She used to carry it everywhere and when I asked where it was she said she didn't know what I was talking about. Her doll. She never even left the room without it. I feel like I'm losing it. Something is wrong." She began hitting her hands against her head. I reached forward and grabbed her hands, stopping her from hurting herself.

"Stop." I said. Stop, stop!" I said finally pulling her hands away. "Look at me." I told her. She looked up with a frown. "There is nothing wrong with you, okay? You're right, it's this place." She looked at me seriously.

"I'm right?" She asked.

"Yes, you are right." I told her firmly. "You aren't crazy, Clary. Okay?" She looked around her for a moment then looked up at me, frowning again. "Clary?" I asked. I put my hand under her chin, making her look at me. "Clary?" I repeated. She looked at me.

"I'm sorry." She said. "Do I know you?" My eye brows furrowed together.

"We were just talking. Remember?" She frowned at me.

"Were we?" She said, surprised. "Oh. What were we talking about?" She asked.

"We were literally just talking about this place. How it isn't right. Remember?" She looked away again, looking all around. "Clary?" I asked. She looked back at me.

"Did I tell you about Nurse Hayes?" She asked. I sighed, looking down as she began mumbling herself. I thought I was losing my mind as well. I looked back up at her as I took a breath out, calming myself. I remember thinking when I saw her again that she would just see me and know who I was. Hoping that a look would be all it would take. And that I would just tell her to come home and everything would be okay again. She looked at me again with a smile, as if only just seeing me.

"I'm sorry." She said. "Do I know you?" I smiled back.

"No." I shook my head. "You don't." I said before I walked away from Clary. I then muttered the word 'awake' like Gaston had told me to before I was back in my body and in the real world again. I removed my hands from Clary's head and the Fur woke again with a deep breath. It looked towards me for a moment before giving a smug smile.

"Aww, no luck? I really did do a number on her huh?" It said with a laugh. I launched towards it, managing to land a punch before Alec and Gaston dragged me back.

"Jace, stop!" Isabelle shouted. "Remember that's Clary." They both let go of me and I began walking for the door.

"Not at the moment it isn't." I said giving a quick glance back at it before walking out. As I was leaning against the wall outside, the others came out and joined me.

"Listen, I know you are angry but that will be Clary soon and from what I've heard about her, I'm sure she won't be too happy coming back to bruises all over her face." Gaston said.

"That's if Clary even comes back."

"What are you talking about?" Isabelle said. "Of course we will get her back. We are doing it right now." I shook my head.

"It's useless." I said.

"Why? What happened in there?" Rose asked.

"I went in and found her, and when I spoke to her, she didn't even know who I was." Everyone looked at me with pity. "And I did try, but she couldn't even function properly. I'd ask her a question, she'd answer and five minutes later she was asking who I was again." Gaston sighed.

"She's deteriorating." He explained. "It's a miracle she lasted this long."

"What do we do now?" I asked.

"You aren't going to like my answer but we just have to keep trying. You need to. Now that you are telling me she doesn't remember anything it can only be you that can bring her back. You are the person she seems to have the strongest bond with. I get the feeling that you love each other and you are the only one who can make her remember." He told me. "Now go back in there and get your girl back." I gave a nod as I began walking back into the room and over to the Fur. It may be hopeless to get her back but I had to do everything I could and at least try. So i sat down in the chair, putting my hands back to its head.

Hey guys, sorry again for leaving it so long but I have been super busy and I was actually working on like three new story ideas which I really like, one is a werewolf story that I might publish soon and the others were more TMI fanfictions. I was thinking about actually doing an 100 fanfiction cause I really love the show and the books, so tell me what you think about that too. Anyway, hope you enjoyed this chapter and if you did then please leave a comment or vote, or even tell others about my stories. Thanks for reading!
