The bell rang signaling the end of Biology class. Patrick left the room before anyone else does. Aeriel walked to my seat and looked at me as if I was hiding a secret. "Why were you talking with Patrick Hall?" she asked. "You're here to look for your human! Not to bond!"
"No, listen," I said urgently. Aeriel bent so I could whisper her the five words. "Patrick Hall is my human!"
Aeriel gaped at me. "Are you sure?" she asked. "How come you didn't tell me?"
"I just felt it now," I explained. "And besides, I can't just scream, 'Patrick Hall is my human', can I? I'm going out with him after classes. I need to fix him up so I could go back to Heaven. I'm so happy I found out who my human is!"
"How do you know he is your human?" Aeriel asked.
"I can tell what he is feeling," I said. "Back at Heaven, his feeling was only faint. But here in Earth, sitting beside him, I could tell what he feels. It's loneliness, Aeriel."
"Well, we better go to Algebra," Aeriel said.
I fixed my things and followed her outside the room. We walked to Algebra when I suddenly felt a tingling on my abdomen. I stopped and Aeriel looked at me. Her expression was worried so I said, "My abdomen is tingling."
"You better go to the comfort room," Aeriel said. "You need to pee. I told you that yesterday, remember?"
"I forgot," I said. And, as if on cue, the bell rang. "Oh no!"
"Okay, listen, the Algebra class is just two classrooms away our locker," Aeriel explained quickly. "Just go right. I better go. Mr. Wright doesn't want me to be late again."
I nodded. "How about the comfort room?" I asked.
Aeriel smiled. "Turn around," she said.
I did and saw two doors. One was labeled, Female and the other, Male. "I get it," I said and walked towards the Female room. I went in the cubicle.
As I got outside the cubicle, I saw two girls applying things on their faces. Aeriel explained this to me yesterday, too. Charisse has a couple of make up back at her room. But she doesn't use it if she doesn't need to.
I also noticed on the two girls is that they are wearing identical mini skirts and tops. Their hair was in an identical ponytail and the brown-haired girl looked at me. Her jaw dropped. I began to panic. What did I do? Are my wings visible? Then she walked towards me. "You should tell me what moisturizer you use!" she said. "You are so white!" Then she ran her hands on my face. "And very soft, too! Check this out, Rose!"
Rose, a part-blonde part-brunette haired girl, walked towards me and touched my face. "Hell yeah!" she said and smiled at me. "Joanne, we are being rude. We haven't introduced ourselves." She handed me her hand. "I'm Rose Hill. And this is my friend Joanne Hernandez."
Joanne Hernandez? Haven't I heard that before? I shook my head mentally to clear my thoughts and I remember. She is Patrick's girlfriend. The Joanne Hernandez, the super-jealous girlfriend. She smiled at me. "And who are you?" she asked. "I never seen you here before."
"Kate Roberts," I said and shook Rose's hands. Charisse told me it's a sign of greeting. "Yes, I'm a new student."
"So what moisturizer do you use?" Rose asked. I looked at them blankly. "Hello? Earth to Kate? Can't you hear me?"
"I'm sorry, but I don't know what is a moisturizer," I said.
Joanne and Rose looked at each other and laughed out loud. Then Joanne hugged her stomach. She looked up at me as her eyes teared up. "I'm sorry," she said and laughed once more. "What year are you?"
"Junior," I said.
They laughed once again. "You are so funny!" Rose squealed. "But seriously, what moisturizer do you use?"
"I don't use any moisturizer," I said. "I don't even know what a moisturizer is!"
"It's something women use for their face," Joanne said, still laughing. "It's too keep their face white and soft. You're a junior, yes? And you don't know what's a moisturizer!"
They laughed again but I just turned away to leave. As I closed the door behind me, another figure went outside the Male room. I looked up and saw it was Patrick Hall. He saw me coming and smiled. "We meet again, Ms. Roberts," he said.
"Yes, we did, Mr. Hall," I said and we both laughed quietly.
Then the door behind me opened, out came Joanne and Rose. Joanne gasped. "Oh, baby, you're here!" she said and pushed me away.
As a result, I fell to my right, butt-first and I winced. "You could have at least say 'Excuse Me'," I grumbled.
"Excuse me," Joanne said mockingly and turned to hug Patrick.
"That's no way to act, Joanne," Patrick snapped and handed me his hand.
I looked up at his face. He was smiling and he was handing me his hand. Oh my. I accepted it with trembling hands and I stood up. "Thanks," I muttered, looking at the ground.
"No problem," Patrick said, grinning. "Shall we go to Algebra class?"
"Yes," I said and we both walked towards Algebra class. I turned to my shoulder to see the faces of Joanne and Rose. Joanne was horror-stricken while Rose's mouth was open in shock. I managed a smile and looked at Patrick. "You ditched your girlfriend for me, Patrick. What's that for?"
"I'm tired of her being jealous," Patrick said, shaking his head. "Oh, you need to know something. Today this lunch, I'm breaking up with her."
"What!" I exclaimed. "Why?"
"I'll explain it later," Patrick said. "We still have Algebra." Then he stopped on his tracks. "Are you okay ditching classes?"
I stopped. "Why would I ditch classes?" I asked.
"I don't know," Patrick said, shrugging. "This school is not totally guarded. The front entrance doesn't have a guard. Although the hallways have roaming teachers. But we could hide from them, we're much faster."
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"I don't know," Patrick said, looking away. "Well, how about IceCream Express? Their ice cream there is yummy."
I thought about it. There's no point of going to school if I will just go back to Heaven one day. After all, my human is much important than school. And he is my only ticket to go back to Heaven, where I really belong.
"Okay, but I'll just text my cousin," I said as I looked for my phone inside my bag.
"Your cousin?" Patrick repeated. "Why would you text your cousin?"
"She'll worry about me," I said. I found my phone and tapped a message for Charisse and Aeriel. They said cellphones are just for emergencies and this is a message. I sent a message saying, I'll just be in IceCream Express with my human. He's Patrick Hall. I'm sorry if I had to ditch Algebra. There's no point of going to school if I will just go back to Heaven. I'll be back before you know it. Then I looked at Patrick and grinned. "Let's ditch."
