Asher POV

"So, where exactly are we going?" I asked, anticipation biting at me.

"If I told you you still wouldn't know."

"Point taken"

I pulled the light jacket around my torso tighter and tried to ignore the cold invading my small body.

"You okay? If you squeeze that jacket any tighter it might rip."

I laughed, "It's just a little cold."

"I'm guessing you didn't ask Nick for a bigger coat then."

I nodded, no

He pulled me into his side and wrapped his arm around my side, attempting to keep me warm.

We made it to the restaurant soon enough, and I was pretty surprised.

It was a little building much like the one I'd be staying in but the size seemed a little bigger.

He opened the door and a bell rang above our head. He held the door open while I walked through,

"Thanks."

He nodded and walked over to the 'Wait to be seated stand.'

"Hey Brittany, can I get a table for two?"

"Two?" A surprised expression spread across her face.

He stepped aside showing me; who stood close behind, just smiling.

She smiled back and grabbed two menu's.

"Follow me."

She led us to the back of the restaurant, it was lit with large windows and showed the garden in the back.

"You guys grow your food naturally?"

She nodded proud, "Yeah, most of Telle'Grande does. All of our meats come from Telle's Farm, down the street. And our vegetables are grown here."

"That's really nice, I don't really get much 'natural' foods other then at the Farmers Market on a good day."

She laughed her cheek bones high showing the truth in it, "Well I hope to see you around, you waiter will be here shortly."

I nodded giving a small wave goodbye.

She walked off and I got more comfy in the booth.

"So, what do you wanna do after we eat?"

I took my gaze from the window now searching Blake's eyes, "Um I don't know really. I guess I could look up when my train is scheduled to leave then we could relax for a while?"

"Want to go ice skating??" Hope was clear in his eyes and I was never one to say no.

"Yeah. Sure."

"Cool! So you met Nick, how do ya' like him?"

"He seemed really nice, he made me breakfast and put on a movie while we talked and ate cookies."

His eyebrow raised, "He's never that nice."

"Welp, people change." I smiled and he slightly smiled back as the waiter appeared.

"What would you two cuties like to drink?"

Blake spoke, "Hey Sam, I just had some coffee I'll be good."

My cheeks flushed pink.

"Can I get some peppermint tea please?"

The lady's eyes widened yet still twinkling, "Oh! Blake, who is this little slice of cake?"

Blake was looking at me like that again...like I actually was a piece of food.

"This is Asher, we met yesterday outside town." His eyes were on me as he spoke.

I couldn't help but bite my lip to swallow a smile.

The older woman turned back to me a sweet look stained on her face. She covered side of her face like she was telling me a secret, "Be careful with this one, he's a little rough on the edges." She winked.

I blushed darker, 'Does she think I like him? I-I don't like him. He's nice and all but no, we're just friends. Just friends'

Blake's eyes widened and he tore his eyes away from me, "Hey! I am not!"

She chuckled and walked away, mouthing something I couldn't understand as she fled.

"Sorry about her, she's not that intrusive all the time, I promise."

I laughed, "No, no she was sweet. She reminds me of my aunt."

It was quiet between us as out drinks came. We were just staring and smiling like stupid idiots making the people around us uncomfortable.

"I like your hair down. It's wavy and makes me wanna touch it.

I blinked, "I've been growing it for a while now."

"It's nice."

I swiped a few strands from my face as the waiter came back, "What would you like to have?"

"Um..."

'Curse my not-menu-reading-self'

"What's the most festive thing you have?"

"Probably the pecan waffle chicken sandwich."

"Um, I'll go with that."

"Fries?"

"Yes, please."

"Okay I'll be back with you guys food."

I turned to Blake instantly, "she didn't ask what you wanted."

"Oh I get the same thing all the time."

"Oh."

Silence.

My phone buzzed and I jumped a little making Blake laugh, "Oh hush."

I grabbed the device.

Mommy: Hey sweetheart I heard your train got stuck. I texted your cousin she said she'll leave you a key outside under the plant.

I texted back a thanks and sighed a little.

"What was that?" Blake's gave of a concerned stare

"Just my mom."

"Oh."

I ran my fingers through my hair and I swear Blake's eyes got a little brighter.

"Lay off on the hair fetish weirdo."

He laughed.

An hour later arriving at the ice rink.

I stood beside Blake looking down at the rink below us,

"Hey, I got the tickets and the shoes."

I looked back at Blake, "oh, thanks."

I seemed to get really nervous as we neared the steps leading to the pretty rink.

We sat on a bench beside the rink doors

'Oh gosh I already know I'm gonna fall.'

I pulled on the sharp ice skates and subcausiously fiddled with my hair.

"Nervous?"

"Huh?"

Blake laughed, "Is this your first time?"

"Oh! Uh yeah. I've never really been good at balance or sliding...without falling anyways."

We laughed and he smiled and softly grabbed my hand, standing up and helping me up from the bench.

I stood shakily almost losing balance, "I'll help you. Just look where your trying to go. I'm right here."

He brought his other hand to my empty hand and we shuffle/walked into the rink.

I'm not gonna say I wasn't pretty happy. Little girls and boys swiftly skated past us smiling and racing each other.

Soft carols played on speakers and families held hands and skated by the rail.

I couldn't help the small feeling of nostalgia that clogged my mind.

Blake must've noticed as he slid closer to me and pushed us further into the rink.

I held a tight grip on his hand and really just let him lead not looking down rather at the sweet guy leading us along.

He looked back at me and smiled as we slowed and I pulled up beside him.

"Isn't so bad eh?"

I shook my head and he pulled me closer to him.

"Try to skate alone, remember don't look down and watch out for little kids."

I laughed a little, "Catch me if I fall."

"I will."

It was silent for a second and we just stared at each other.

I blinked out my daze and turned Blake now behind me.

I took a hesitant slide forward filled by another and another starting to get the hang of the contraption...well until I slipped a little almost falling backwards.

I felt myself starting to lean back and I felt my heart skip a beat as I mentally thought I'm gonna fall. I'm gonna fall. I'm gonna fa-

"Blake?" My voice came out shaky and a little scared

I whispered to myself, "oh no"

I was falling when I felt a firm grip grab the sides of my waist and a hardish surface lean my back up, helping me regain my balance, "Hey, I'm right here."

My ear tingled as he breathed calmly in my ear and his strong sent of pine filled my senses.

"You okay?"

He was whispering and it was catching me off guard making my heart beat faster and my concentration span short.

"Y-Yeah."

He loosened his grip on my waist but didn't let go, making my skin warm and my mind fog over.

He continued skating, holding my waist and only stopping in the center on the rink.

"Told you I'd catch you."

My face got hot as we skated slowly and he held my hand.

"Thanks."

He laughed, "I'll always catch you."

"I'll always fall."

We skated for a while longer smiling and chatting. Before the sun started falling thanks to daylight savings and the rink cleared out.

"We should be getting back soon"

"Okay"

We were skating half way to the border, when he randomly took off his jacket and put it on me,

"It looks better on you, plus you've been shivering since we left the restaurant."

I smiled and laughed a little pulling it over my shoulders. "I have not!"

"Asher look at your arms and fingers."

'Oh.'

"Oh."

He smiled as he'd won the little debate.

"Hey! You guys are back just in time!"

We stepped in the apartment wiping our feet on the welcome carpet.

"Hi Nick" I cheered.

"Hey small fry."

Blake glared, "Only I call him small fry!"

I laughed, "You two are weird."

"So what are we back for exactly?"

Nick smiled practically rolling off the couch, "I have a date and I don't have the keys."

I walked into the kitchen taking Blake's coffee cup and starting to wash it, "Ohh that's sweet, I hope you have fun!"

"Thanks Ash." He walked back to his room probably to change.

"You wanna watch The Polar Express tonight? I think it comes on at 8."

"Omg I love that movie!"

He laughed as I dried the cup, "I'm guessing that's a yes."

I nodded my head a smile apparent.

"I think we have some coca and some popcorn."

Nick walked in, wearing a white dress shirt and black jeans covered by a blazer and some glasses that fit him nicely. "Aww look at you two planning your date at home and stuff."

We both shot a glare, making him immediately regret his words,

"Okay my bad, gracious."

I put the cup back and took off my shoes and put them by the door.

Blake sat on the counter and pat the empty space next to him.

I sat on the counter beside him.

Nick glanced at us before snickering and grabbing a coat and his keys; rushing out the door.

I saw his phone and wallet; got it and stood at the door before he rushed back in and getting his stuff from me. He yelled before slamming the door behind him.

"Don't do it on the couch!"

My eyes widened and I could feel Blake glaring where his roommate had left.

I heard Blake whisper.

"Kitchen counter is hotter."
