Scarlett's P.O.V.
I ran behind the gurney that held my brother. Oh god... I shouldn't have let him eat the damn thing... God! Why couldn't Emma just believe us! We wouldn't be stuck in this mess if it weren't for her... Then again, if it weren't for her, we wouldn't have a chance at all of breaking this curse... and breaking it just might be the only way to save Henry. "Henry, can you hear me? Come on, Henry. Wake up, please. Come on, Henry. Come on. You can do it," Emma begged. I felt like I was just following behind in a blur. "Ma'am, let me take you to-" "No, I am not going anywhere!" Emma cut off the nurse. The nurse turned to me and before she could try to 'escort' me out, I held out my hand and said, "Save it. I'm not leaving my brother," I said and followed Emma who was talking to Dr. Whale. "There's no pupil response. What happened? Did he fall? Hit his head?" he asked. "He ate that thing. It was poisoned," I said, pointing to the bag with the apple turnover that Emma was holding. "We think it's poisoned," Emma corrected. I scoffed. I can't believe she still doesn't believe us. Dr. Whale examined Henry then turned back to us and said, "His airway's clear. Did he vomit? Any convulsion or disorientation?" "He took a bite of this, and then he just collapsed. So, run the test for arsenic, or bleach, or Drano, or whatever could've done this to him!" Emma yelled exasperated. "The boy is showing no symptoms that would suggest neurotoxins. So, whatever's going on, this is not the culprit," Dr. Whale said. "Well... What else could it be?" Emma asked. It's magic... It has to be... This is something only Regina can fix. "I don't know. That's what I'm trying to find out," Dr. Whale responded. "He's going to be okay, though, right?" I asked, worried for my brother. "Right now, we just need to stabilize him, cause he's slipping away. Is there anything else that you can remember? Any little detail?" he asked Emma and I. "We already told you everything. Do something!" I yelled. "Look, I understand you two are frustrated, I do. But I need something to treat. And, right now, there is no explanation. It's like..." I cut Dr. Whale off by emptying Henry's bag on the nearby table. Emma looked at me, realizing what I was trying to show and said, "Like magic." Bingo.
Regina came running in to where we all were and asked, "Scarlett, Where's Henry?!" "You did this," Emma said. She grabbed Regina and dragged her to a storage room and I followed closely behind. I locked the door behind me and watched as Emma beat the shit out of my adoptive mother. "You did this!" Emma yelled and Regina asked fearfully, "What the hell are you doing?! Stop this! My son-" "Is sick because of you! You used your magic to poison the apple turnover you gave Emma and Henry ate it!" I yelled, cutting her off. "Scarlett?! Why- What?! That was meant for Emma!" she said. "It's true, isn't it?!" Emma asked, dismissing the part where Regina admitted to attempting to kill her. "What are you talking about?" Regina asked. "It's true. Isn't it? All of it," I said. " My mom looked at me and sighed, "Yes." "I was leaving town. Why couldn't you just leave things alone?" Emma asked. "Because as long as you're alive, Henry and Scarlett will never be mine!" my mom said, and looked over at me, guilt evident in her eyes. "By how this conversation is going, Scarlett won't be yours and Henry will never be anyone's unless you fix this. You wake him up!" Emma yelled. "I can't!" Regina yelled. "Don't you have magic?" I asked. "That was the last of it. It was supposed to put her to sleep!" Regina said, nodding towards Emma. A sleeping curse... How... unoriginal. Emma let go of Regina. "What's it going to do to him?" I asked. "I don't know," Regina admitted, "Magic here is unpredictable." "So... So he could..." Emma couldn't finish what she was trying to say. "Yes," Regina nodded sadly. "So, what do we do?" Emma asked. "We need help. There's one other person in this town who knows about this... Knows about magic," Regina said. "Mr. Gold," Emma said. "Actually, he goes by Rumpelstiltskin," I said.
Emma, Regina, and I all walked into Mr. Gold's shop. Mr. Gold looked at Emma and said, "Do my eyes deceive me, or is that the look of a believer?" "We need your help," Emma replied. "Indeed, you do. It seems quite the tragic ailment has befallen one of our young friends. I told you, magic comes with a price," Mr. Gold said. I swear I'm gonna kill this asshole. "Henry shouldn't have to pay it," Regina said. "No, you should, but alas, we are where we are," Mr. Gold said. I balled up my fists and took deep breaths to make sure I wouldn't go apeshit on this bastard.... but I make no promises. "Can you help us?" Emma asked. "Of course. True love, Miss Swan... The only magic powerful enough to transcend realms and break any curse. Luckily for you, I happen to have bottled some," Mr. Gold replied. "You did?" Regina asked. "Oh, yes. From strands of your parents' hair, I made the most powerful potion in all the realm. So powerful, that when I created the dark curse, I placed a single drop on the parchment. Just a little safety valve," Mr. Gold said, directing the information at Emma. "That's why she's the saviour. That's why she can break the curse," I said. "Now you're getting it," Gold said. I already got it... Emma didn't... until now. "I don't care about breaking the curse. All I care about is saving Henry," Emma said. I frowned... she still couldn't get it throughout her thick skull, could she? "Which is why it's your lucky day. I didn't use all the potion. I saved some... For a rainy day," Gold said. "Well, it's storming like a bitch. Where is it?" I said, just wanting to fix Henry already. "Where it is isn't the problem. Getting it is what should worry you," Gold said. "Enough riddles. What do we do?" Regina said, fed up with Gold, that must be where I get my short temper from. I did live with her for 16 years as of a month ago. "You do nothing. It has to be Miss Swan," Gold said. "He's my son. It should be me," Regina said. "And he's my brother," I said, trying to rejoin the conversation. "All due respect, but it's her son... and you know exactly why it has to be her, Scarlett. She's the product of the magic. She must be the one to find it," Gold said. "I can do it," Emma said, determinedly. "Don't trust him," Regina warned. "What other choice do we have?" I told her. "That's right, dearie. What choice do you have?" Gold said, smugly. "Where is this magic?" Emma asked. "Tell me, Your Majesty, is our friend still in the basement?" Gold asked Regina. "Oh, you twisted little imp. You hid it with her?" Regina asked. Who were they talking about? "Oh, no, no. Not with her. In her. I knew you couldn't resist bringing her over," Gold said. "Who is 'her'?" Emma and I asked in unison. "Someone you should be prepared for, Ms. Swan. Where you're going, you're going to need this," Gold said, opening a long box and pulling out a sword that was all too familiar to everyone in the room, except Emma. "What is that?" Emma asked. "Your father's sword," I said.
Emma and I returned to the hospital where Henry lay, pale and connected to dozens of different machines and tubes leading to God knows where. I held the storybook in my hand. Emma sat next to me, talking to Henry and I, "Henry... Scarlett... You two were right about the curse. I should have believed you. I'm sorry." I placed the storybook under Henry's pillow. "For when you wake up," I said and stood with Emma. I may not be able to do much, but I wasn't leaving Emma to fight this thing alone. Regina walked in and Emma told her, "Say what you got to say. You got ten minutes." "You know where to meet?" she asked. "Yeah. Don't be late," I said and Emma and I left. Emma began to walk in the opposite direction of where we were supposed to go. "Emma, where are you going?" "To talk to someone important. I'll meet you at the place," she said and ran off towards Granny's. She was going to see Augustus, also known as Pinocchio. I ran to the library and waited for both of my moms to show up. "I hope to God this works," I sighed.
Soon, Emma showed up with the sword and Regina came too. I opened the door and we entered the building. "What is this place?" Emma asked. "Would you like a tour, or shall we just get to it?" Regina asked, sarcastically. "Lead the way," Emma said. Regina walked to one of the walls and placed her hand on it. The wall raised and it revealed an elevator. The door opened and all Emma and I could say was, "Woah." "Get in," Regina motioned for Emma to get in the elevator. "After you," Emma said. "It's a two-man job. The elevator's hand-operated. I have to stay up here and lower you down and Scarlett isn't strong enough to lower you down and she sure as hell isn't going down there with you," Regina said. I opened my mouth to protest, but was silenced by my mother saying, "It's too dangerous, Scar... Just trust me and stay up here." I nodded reluctantly. "And I'm just supposed to trust you?" Emma asked. "I'll be here, remember," I said, motioning to my presence which was obviously oblivious to the both of them. "This battle I'm supposed to fight... Who is it? What is down there?" Emma asked. "An old friend," Regina said, hesitantly. "Then why don't you go talk to them?" Emma asked, skeptically. "Because her punishment here was different than everyone else's. I trapped her... In a different form. She doesn't want to hear from me. You have to trust me on that," Regina said. Oh god... what did she do? "Okay. I will go down there. But let's be clear about something... Your Majesty. The only reason you're not dead is because I need your help to save Henry. He dies? So do you," Emma said. Um, even though she's a bitch I'm not letting my moms kill each other. "Well, then let's get on with it. Now, this is what you're going to have to do," Regina said and she explained what Emma had to do.
My mom and I were sitting by the elevator, waiting for Emma. We sat in awkward silence. Finally, my mom broke it. "Scarlett... do you really hate me?" she asked. I looked at her and once again saw guilt, but it was laced with fear... fear that I would say yes. "No," I replied. "I should," I added, "but I don't... You're still my mom and as long as we get Henry okay and Emma breaks this curse... then no, I don't and would never hate you.... I'm just... very upset at you... that's all... I'm like borderline hating you, currently... but My anger would never pass that boundary... if that makes you feel better." "I love you, Scarlett... I love you and Henry... and I don't wanna lose you to Emma," she said. "You could never lose me... It's just... I need time to think... I have two mothers now... Just... when this is all over... I think Henry and I should stay with Emma for a bit... until we feel it's right to go back... Until we know we can trust you and the you can change," I said. She looked saddened by my response, but she nodded anyways. Suddenly, Mr. Gold burst into the room. "Gold? What are you doing here?" Regina asked, standing up. I stood too. Something didn't feel right... He walked up to us and I'm not sure how, but he attacked us and tied us to chairs and gagged us. "What the hell?!" I tried to yell, but it was muffled due to the gag he got from god knows where.
Soon, Emma was in the elevator and Gold was helping her up, but then stopped. "Regina! Scarlett! What the hell was that? Regina!" Emma yelled from the elevator. "Miss Swan? You got it?" Gold asked, leaning over the edge. "Mr. Gold. What are you doing here?" I heard Emma ask. "I've come to check on you. I'm glad I did. Regina and your daughter abandoned you and sabotaged the elevator," Gold said. I tried yelling through the gag, but t no avail. "What? I'm coming up," Emma said. "Now, there's... There's no time for this. You can't possibly scale the wall and carry that," Gold said, looking for an excuse to keep Emma stuck down there. "Yeah? Well, I can try," Emma said. Okay, I got my persistence from her. "No, you can't. Just toss it up. Your boy's going to be fine. I promise. We're running out of time. Toss it up," Gold said. "You hold on to it. I'll be right up," Emma said. I once again screamed through the gag for Emma not to do it. Emma tossed the egg up and as soon as Gold got it, he left. "Mr. Gold? Gold!" Emma yelled. She climbed her way out of the shaft and when she found us, she ungagged us and began to untie us. "He tricked you! How could you give him that?" Regina asked, furiously. "Where is he? "Gone. Gold. He manipulated all of this," I said. "Come on. He can't be that far," Emma said, but before we could go anywhere all three of our cell phones ring at the same time. Emma looks at us and says, "It's the hospital."
We ran to the hospital as fast as possible, but when we got there, we saw Mother Superior and Dr. Whale leaving Henry's room. I looked at Whale with pleading eyes. He just shook his head slowly and said, "We did everything we could." Does this mean... "I'm sorry. You're too late," Mother Superior said, sadly. No. No. No. No. No. No. NO! I ran into Henry's room where a nurse was unhooking him from the millions of machines. I immediately broke down. My mom pulled me to her and I wanted to kill her and hug her at the same time. "I love you, Henry," Emma said and kissed his forehead. A huge gust of wind flew past us and I looked out the window to see it go through the whole town. I heard a gasp and turned my head seeing Henry sitting up. "I love you too. You saved me," he said. I ran to him and hugged him. "Next time, I'll eat the possibly poisonous food," I laughed and squeezed the living daylights out of him. I heard my mom say, "You did it." She's lucky Emma did it... if not I'd've killed her... I looked up to see a crowd formed in the room. "Henry...Scarlett... What's going on?" Emma asked. Wait... "No..." Regina said, her words laced with worry. Did she...? "The curse," Henry said. I looked at him quickly then smiled and whipped my head back to Emma saying, "I think you broke the curse!" "That was true love's kiss," Mother Superior said. Regina just kept repeating the word, no. "If I were you, Your Majesty, I'd find a place to hide," Mother Superior said, hatefully. "Henry... Scarlett... No matter what you think, no matter what anyone tells you, I do love you," Regina said and ran away as fast as possible. "Henry... Scarlett... What's going on here? If the curse is broken, why didn't they go back? "We... We don't know," Henry said. A nurse suddenly dropped a tray as she was looking out the window. I followed Emma to see what was going on. "Are you okay?" Emma asked. I looked out the window and my jaw practically dropped. "Scarlett, what is... it?" Emma asked, noticing the purple smoke engulfing the town. Henry came and with us as we ran outside to investigate. "What is that?" Emma asked. Henry and I looked at each other before saying in unison, "Something bad.
