"I wanted you to know that the world is ugly, but you're beautiful to me.." I wake up to those words. The World Is Ugly is my alarm. I realize I'm starting school today and smile. 'I wonder how school in London is different than school in America.' I say to myself. I quickly get dressed and run downstairs to the kitchen. Kristen walks in and asks me if Alex is awake. I shrug and continue eating my banana. Kristen runs upstairs to wake up Alex. An annoyed and tired Alex walks into the kitchen. She pours herself a glass of milk and sits at the table across from me. "Okay it's 7:43 you should get to school," Kristen says, "I can drive you to school, but you'll have to walk home every day." I nod and walk out the door, Alex following me.
(I'm skipping the school part because I don't feel like writing all that crap out)
-after school-
"How was your day, Alex?" I ask. "Okay I guess. Nothing really interesting happened," Alex replies, "Do you want to go to Starbucks? I'm really in the coffee mood right now." "Sure." I say, and we walk to Starbucks. Alex orders a peppermint mocha and I get my usual hot chocolate. (Still don't like coffee..) We walk out of the shop and down the sidewalk, or should I say "pavement." As we approach our apartment, I see tall man who looks very familiar. "Alex, doesn't that guy look like Phil Lester?" I ask, pointing to him. "Haha yeah he does. Wait. That is Phil. Holy crap that's Phil Lester." "It can't be!" We walk past him and he looks up. He gives us a smile and we smile back.
Alex runs go our apartment door and I follow her... But then I trip and fall on the icy ground. Alex has already gone inside and I'm stuck here in the cold with a scraped knee. "Oh my gosh are you okay?!" Phil says, running up to me. "Yeah I think so." I say, trying to stand up. "Are you the new neighbor that moved in this weekend?" Phil asks, helping me up. "Yeah. I'm here from America. You can probably tell because of my accent." I say, chuckling a bit. "Haha yeah. Do you want to come in? It's pretty cold out here." Phil offers. "Uh sure, why not?" I say, walking up to Phil's apartment door. "By the way, I'm Phil. What's your name?" Phil says, walking up the stairs. "I'm Melody. Nice to meet you Phil." I say, hearing footsteps from above.
"Hey Phil? Can you help me with- Who's this?" Says a tall man with a brown fringe. I slightly fangirl inside, realizing it was Dan. "This is Melody, one of our new neighbors." Phil explains. "Hi." I say, waving. Dan smiles. "May I take your coat, Melody?" Phil asks. "Oh uh sure." I say, taking off my coat, revealing my Danosaur sweatshirt. "Hey Phil. I don't think we need to introduce ourselves. Melody seems to know who we are." Dan says, gesturing to my sweatshirt. I blush. "So you're a fan. I bet this is awesome for you to be in our house." Phil says. "Yeah I'll try not to fangirl too much." I say, smiling like a dork. I follow Phil into the lounge and he asks if I want anything. "No thanks. I've got some hot chocolate from Starbucks." I reply, and hold up my cup. Phil pours himself a cup of tea and he sits on the couch next to me. "So," he says, "you obviously know everything about me, so tell me about yourself." Phil says, sipping his tea from the famous Hello Kitty mug.
"Well.. Hm where to begin. Okay. In August, my parents were out for their anniversary. My sister, Kristen, was watching me and my sister, Alex. The phone rang and Kristen answered it. She slowly put the phone down and said, "Mom and dad just died in a car accident." Alex and I were shocked. Alex ran to her room and locked it. She didn't come out for 2 days. I showed no emotion. I kept thinking: They aren't dead. It didn't feel like they were gone, you know? I finally broke down at the funeral though. I couldn't handle it. Later, we were evicted from our home. Kristen said we were going to move with the money that was left for us. We moved here, to London, because Kristen always wanted to live here. We just got here on Friday, and yes that was us with the loud truck. By the way, sorry that ruined your video the other day, Phil. Kristen said she found a job, and today was my first day of school in England. And here we are now. I'm in AmazingPhil's lounge." I finished my story and Phil was stone faced. "Woah. You've been through a lot, Melody." I heard Dan say. He was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. "I feel so bad for you, Melody. You're welcome to come over any time." Phil says, giving me a hug. "Thanks. Where's the bathroom by the way?" I ask, standing up. "It's down the hall." Dan says, pointing. I nod and walk to the bathroom. I immediately pull out my phone and text Alex.
M: You will not believe what just happened.
A: What? Where are you anyway?
M: I'm in Dan and Phil's flat.
A: You're kidding. How did that happen?
M: Well after you decided to race to the door, I fell and Phil helped me and offered for me to come in.
A: Dammit! All the good things happen to you, Melody!
M: That's not entirely true. But Phil did say we could come over any time.
A: Okay, next time you decide to go over to my favorite Youtubers' house, tell me so I can come too?
M: Lol I will. I'll see you later.
I put my phone away and walk out of the bathroom. "Hey Phil, I should probably go. Kristen will be home soon." I say, finding Phil in the kitchen. "Oh sure. I'll get your coat." Phil says, walking down the hallway. He hands me my coat and I put on my boots. "Thanks for everything, Phil. Tell Dan I say thanks too. See you later!" I say, walking out of his apartment. "Bye Melody!" Phil says and I wave. Holy crap. My two favorite Youtubers now know I exist.
