Ariana's POV
"Go ahead." I sit on the slide and Justin sits behind me, pushing us off.
We slide down and into the pool.
"Are you sure it was a good idea to go down that with your arm like that?" Justin says as we walk back to Jessica and Ashley.
"Nice timing. But they said it was water proof or something so as long as I don't hurt it, everything is fine."
"What's next?" Jessica says.
"You two haven't even been on anything. Let's go to the lazy river."
"That's perfect for you." Justin says.
"Haha, you're so funny." I say sarcastically.
I lay on a tube with Justin and Jessica with Ashley.
"This is the best thing ever!"
"Of course, you, of all people would say that." Jessica says.
"I'm not even that lazy. I'm a cheerleader for God's sake. Speaking of cheer, don't we have winter tryouts sometime this week?"
"Yeah, on Thursday. You should know. You're the one who set it up."
"But I had to ask the principal. Then she did whatever she did and some other people put up some flyers that I didn't really pay attention to."
"Ariana, you're slacking. You're supposed to do all this."
"I know, I know. But then I got really lazy and told some people to do it for me."
"Really?" She says.
"Yeah."
"You're lucky everyone loves you, or else they would probably vote to replace you."
"Would you?"
"No. You're the only one who let's me do what I want."
"Not exactly 'what you want' but thanks anyway." Justin smirks at me and I roll my eyes.
"What now?"
"'I mean, he's not wrong. I am very sexy'." He says.
He smirks and I laugh.
"Its the truth."
"I agree."
"Well thank you, kind sir."
"No problem, pretty lady." He says, trailing his fingers down my bare stomach.
"Do you mind? You're tickling me."
"Why aren't you laughing?"
"I'm not ticklish all the time."
"I'm not gonna stop until you laugh."
"But I can't laugh for no reason. You have to do something that's makes me laugh."
"Hairy monkey butts." Jessica says immediately.
I bust out laughing and Justin stares at me.
"What? You said you wanted me to laugh."
"There's something wrong with your head if you thought 'hairy monkey butts' was funny." He says.
"There's something wrong with your head if you didn't."
"Its disgusting. How is it funny?"
"It just is. Its something that everyone laughs at."
"No, its not."
"Yes, it is."
"No-"
"Both of you shut up. You know you love each other." Jessica interrupts us and we both look at her.
"What?"
"Nothing." I sigh.
"That's what I thought." I laugh and roll my eyes.
2 Hours Later
"See you tomorrow." Jessica says as her and Ashley walk away.
"Stay safe, sweetness. I'll see you on Tuesday, OK?" Justin says.
"OK. Bye." I turn around and start walking away when Justin laughs.
"I'm enjoying this view." He says and I roll my eyes.
"Shut up." I giggle, walking to my car.
The Next Day
I wake up to my alarm and sit up in bed. I get out of bed and walk to my bathroom to brush my teeth, then get dressed in the 'Sassy' outfit from the mall. By the time I'm done getting ready and eating breakfast, I get a phone fall from my mom.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Ariana. I just boarded the plane."
"And you're telling me this because?"
"Because I'll be back by the time you get home from school."
"Oh. OK then. I'm going to school now, so bye."
"Bye."
Thursday
"Are you two ready?" I ask, flipping my hair behind my back.
"Yeah. Can I let them in?" Jessica says as Ashley nods.
"Go ahead." She walks to the gym door and opens it, allowing the people waiting outside to come in, then walks back over to our table.
"Welcome to Coyotes Winter Cheer Leading Tryouts 2015. Please stand in a line in front of me..." Bla bla bla.
I've said this every Fall, Winter, and Spring for almost 2 years now. A girl in the middle of the line raises her hand and I sigh.
"What?"
"Are we trying out individually?"
"Yes. Can I talk now?" She nods and I look at everyone else.
"My name is Ariana, and this is Jessica and Ashley. By the way, this is a level 6 squad, just so you know. There are only 7 available spots, and I believe 12 of you are trying out. So do your best. First on the list is Chelsea Bridges."
Everyone leaves except a blonde girl in the front of the line.
"Hi. I'm Chelsea."
"Duh." I mutter.
Jessica giggles and smile.
"Anyway, you may begin. Oh, and by the way, be careful. If you didn't realize already, this is a wooden floor and I will not be picking up and body parts." She looks at me then walks to the corner of the gym.
She runs then does a round off back handspring double full twist.
"That was amazing." She smiles and I continue my sentence.
"For a level 3 squad. You're gonna have to do something better than that." Her smile turns into a frown and she goes back to the corner.

"That was much better. Amazing job. Anything else?" She beams and I laugh.
"No, that was it. I'm just really good at flipping."
"I can see that. You can leave now. Thank you." She walks out the room and I write 7\10 on the list.
"Andrea Thompson!" I yell.
A brunette walks in and stands in front of the table.
"You can start. No broken bones."
1 1\2 Hours Later
"Anyone else?" I yell.
The door opens and Justin walks in.
"Hey. Trying out for cheer?"
"Yes, I am."
"Well, do whatever you want."
"Let's go coyotes! Whoo!" He yells.
I giggle, writing 10\10 on the list.
"Excellent job." He laughs, walking over to give me a kiss.
"Did you make your decision?" He says.
"Almost. We have 3 10\10, 2 9\9, 5 8\8, and 2 7\7."
"We need to get rid of 3 8\8 because we only have 7 spots. I'm gonna call them in her and you can choose one boy and one girl."
"Do I even have the power to do that?"
"If I give it to you, yes. Everyone, get back in here!" Everyone walks back in and stands in a line.
"Good news and bad news for all of you. Chelsea and Jennifer are out. Thank you." They both sigh and walk out.
"Will Tiffanie, ReNae, Lukas, Zach, and Josiah step forward?" They walk forward and I look at Justin.
"Oh wow. I pick him, and definitely her." He smirks, pointing to Tiffanie and Zach.
I look up at him while he stares at Tiffanie. She smiles and then looks at me. Justin follows her gaze and his smirk turns into a smile.
"Oh, hey. How are you?"
"Mhmm." I turn my attention back to the people in front of me.
"Sorry ReNae, Lukas, and Josiah, but you did not make it. Thank you and goodbye." They walk out, muttering and I look at everyone else.
"Congratulations to the rest of you. You made the squad." They cheer, high giving each other.
"Before you leave, we're gonna work on pyramids. We're obviously gonna be on top, because, duh. But I need bases. You, you, you, and you." I point at Zach, Thomas, Jaiden, and Julian.
"The rest of you will be holding us up in the middle of the pyramid and we already have 5 more bases. I'm gonna show you how this works."
All 3 of us stand up and walk to the line.
"I need 3 boys over here and the other in the middle. There's 2 groups of 3 boys on each side each holding up 2 girls. Then 2 boys middle. On the sides, 2 boys holding up one girl each and the other in the front. The boys in the middle hold up the girls on the inside."
"I know its sounds complicated but its not. The girls on the outside will be holding up one of their legs." I point to Jessica and Ashley and they smile.
"Then my legs will be on the girls' on the inside shoulders because I'll be doing the splits. They will also be putting their arms on my legs. I'm just gonna show you a picture." I grab my phone from the table and open the gallery.
"That looks so cool." Tiffanie says.
"It is but we need all of the bases to do it. Anyway, that's it for today."
