I took a few deep breaths as the war horn sounded the start of the last battle.
I now understood why Peter was so keen for me to stay away from all this. I hardly had any training with a sword, which didn't help much. But I had a natural talent for dagger throwing, and Tigerlily had gifted me a few to use during the battle. Sticking with Neverland's limited violent rule the Faeries had invented, when I did hurt someone, I made sure it was only minor. I wasn't about to betray my own kinds rule, was I? Half way into the battle, I saw Jane helping out some of the healers, her platinum blonde dual braids glittering like silver in the noon sunlight. I smiled. I had so many friends that cared for me... I guess I always had, and yet... I never really noticed nor apriciated it. I remembered my action of sitting on my own between the two tables filled with my friends at supper; trying not to make any one group feel left out. Was it enough to allow me to actually earn people's love? No. Not in my opinion, anyway. What I saw next happened in slow motion; while my feet were rooted to the spot. The dagger entered Jane's back with lightening speed, just as another dagger left my fingers. The pirate who stabbed her feel to the ground, my dagger entering his head. Peter's arms wrapped around my shoulders, and dragged me back to the camp while I screamed and struggled.

"LET ME GO BACK!" I shouted at the top of my lungs.

"Kat, you killed him; what more do you want to do!?" Tigerlily demanded.

"To kill them all!" I retorted.

"Little Kat, you cannot blame everyone for the actions of one person." She reminded me. I looked at Peter. His sapphire eyes were sad.

"No, Peter, I agree with Katherine. We go back and kill them all!" Nibs agreed, his voice furious, but choked.

"You loved her?" I asked, astonished.

"Maybe. But the Lost Boys protect the Lost Girls. That's the way it works in Neverland." He explained. I slumped into a chair, burying my face in my hands.

"We've got to do something, Peter." I sighed deeply. "Maybe we should just give up."

"No!" Peter retorted. He sighed, and knelt beside me, pulling my hands away from my face, and making me look at him. "No. Kat, we've come this far, and tried so hard to fight for what is right. We are not going to give up now. It's not what Jane would want, either." I pursed my lips.

"I guess not." I admitted. "But then what, Peter!?" I shook my head, and slumped backwards.

"I-I don't know." He admitted, rubbing his hands and temples. "We go back, and we win this thing. And Katherine stays here." He gave me a look. "I can't loose you." I smiled slightly at this confession, but at the same time I wanting to punch him for not thinking I could handle it. Anyway, Peter stayed long enough to give a speech to our boys and girls after a quick cease fire; due to Jane's death.

"You all know why we are fighting. You all know who we are fighting. But do you know why we are fighting who we are fighting?" Peter began. "We are fighting James Hook. The traitor who lived amongst us for years. When we finally found a Princess of faerie blood; he threatens her and me. And therefore, he threatened you. People can do many things that will anger me; but threatening the people I love, I will not stand for. I love all of you; because you are my brothers and my sisters, blood of my blood, soul of my soul; the Lost Children of Neverland! And we will defend our Island from those who apose and threaten us! We will fight the pirates for the second time in the last years! And once again: we will return victorious!" There was a huge applause and shouts of:

"Long live the Pan!" And:

"Get rid of the bloody pirates!" Even a bit more on the dodgey side:

"Let's kick some more pirate *insert other word for buttocks*!"

I wandered back to me and Peter's room. I lay down on my bed and tried to sleep, but my head was spinning to quickly. Suddenly, it wasn't a bed I was sleeping on: it was sand. The whole island stretched out for miles in front of me. The glistening silver and sapphire waves breaking against platinum and gold sands, the blood, crimson sun beating down on baking, solid, silver rocks. Emerald and jade trees of the jungle spread across rolling hills... But I was cold. It was an uneasy coldness the spread through my body. Nervousness? Fear? Anxiousness? Anticipation? I sat bold upright. That sound... Something was definitley off about this. I flung open the door to the tent, and gaped at the scene before me.
