Lore Files-The RealVision

So, you're still here? I'm assuming you wanna know about the RealVision I, huh? The future's pretty awesome. The goal is complete immersion through stimulation of the five senses. Doing some research on the web, the first VR tech appeared in the early 21 century.

In the years 2010-2057, it was sight and sound. From then on to 2105, sense of smell was incorporated. That was also the transition from VR headset to VR pod, and brain manipulation. From then to 2230, touch was implemented. Taste is a new thing. From 2230, the VR tech has strived for more immersion.

Inside the RealVision I pod, there is a bed connected to a helmet. You lay down, tuck your head into the helmet, flip a switch so that the glass will slide over. Then you close your eyes, relax, and press the big red button that looks like it shouldn't be touched. You are immediately put in a subconscious state of REM sleep, while your lucid consciousness is transported into the software that is a virtually simulated and closed system. (That's why most of the gaming happens at night; it's actually beneficial and you don't feel tired afterwards). There, you can see virtual representations of other people's lucid consciousnesses in the form of avatars. You are the game and the game resides within your brain.

Deep huh? Connecting hundreds of thousands of brains together to meet up in a virtual world?

Since most of us have spouses and lives and are spread out across different time zones on Earth, we alternate and accommodate so that we can spend most of our nights in bed with our spouses and not in a capsule. When you start out, the hardware will scan your entire body and create a virtual copy of your physical body in-game. This way, no one can lie about themselves or catfish. The best thing is that it scans every time. Say you have a mohawk one day, you'll be in-game with a mohawk. You shave it off in real life, you'll be humpty-dumpty in-game. The scan is also a genetic scan, meaning that you come into the virtual world as who you are supposed to be. Any disfigurations or disabilities will be non-existent. It's amazing to see people who were paralyzed enter the world walking, or amputees doing things they could have never done before.

As beautiful as this game is, it's also very scary in a sense. The hardware connects to your brain and nervous system and stimulates it.

Most things that can happen to you in real life can happen in-game. Though the pain sensors are disabled, if another player punches you in the face, nerve reactors on your face will simulate that so you will feel the impact. If you jump into a stream, learned reactions that water is cold and wet will take over. You will feel cold and wet on every single part of your body touching the virtual water.

When you go outside, you will maybe feel a breeze on your head. If you drop scolding oil on your hand, your pain sensor settings will stop you from feeling it, unless you are a masochist or whatever and you decide to turn them off. I don't know why some people turn their pain restrictions off, but once they get sliced and diced by some goblins, it comes right back on.

Anyways, my favorite part about this whole thing is that food tastes like food. You can chew and swallow and eat because those are natural human abilities, so they come naturally to your body. The feeling of an object being put in your mouth in-game will feel real. Tastes are the same. If you've had bread, bread will taste like bread. If you've never had bread, it won't taste like anything. Again, the game resides in your brain from learned reactions. If it looks like an apple, it should taste like an apple.

With eating, there is a hunger and thirst system, so you have to eat in-game, occasionally, otherwise, you will feel tired in-game and will eventually affect your health stats.

With that said, you can't excrete in-game because obviously, it's not real. You can't sweat, you can't spit, and you can't #1 or 2. That's taking it weirdly too far. If your body needs to excrete in reality, you will get a notification in-game, so you can safely log out, take care of business, and get back in.

Going back to my point of this game being scary, with all of these massive amounts of brain activity going on, if you are force logged out, you will actually die. No exceptions... OK, you won't die but you'll become brain dead. To pull the plug ex: remove your head from the helmet or pull the actual cord out of the wall would brain-dead you instantly. Like, total cucumber-vegetable. You dead.

"What about blackouts! Or tornadoes! Or the rapture!" you cry.

That's why the RealVision I comes with eight backup generators. If all eight fail, you can take it to court—if vegetables can sue.
