At Camp Half-Blood while Percy's running around doing gods know what trying to find Camp Jupiter. Really Jason, Piper and Leo's reaction to Percy... don't know how this is going to turn out. Hope it's okay. I really don't know where this idea's going...
"Hey! Jason!" Piper flags me down. Her hair is askew, braids and feathers all tumbled together in choppy hair. Her eyes are bright and dancing, switching to different hues of purple; what I've come to know as her excited colour.
I smile as she comes sprinting up to me. "Yeah?" I ask.
"Chiron wants to show you, me and Leo something. And before you ask, I have no clue what." She knows me well. I smirk and sling an arm around her.
"Well then, let's go get Leo."
She snakes her arm around my waist and together we search for Leo.
After about twenty minutes of hiking through camp, we stumble upon him; shin deep in mud, searching for something in the brown sludge.
I raise an eyebrow at Piper. She shrugs with her 'it's a Leo thing' attitude. I roll my eyes. She punches me in the shoulder. I give her a disapproving glare before giving her a quick peck on her forehead. It's her turn to glare. She huffs and gestures to Leo. I sigh, and turn from her and focus back in my best friend whose still floundering around.
"Hey," I say, to get his attention.
He looks up. "Hey, Sparky." He nods at Piper, "Beauty Queen."
Piper rolls her eyes and taps her food in irritation, "I've told you not to call me that, Repair Boy."
"Well, if you keep insisting on calling me 'Repair Boy' instead of my true title of 'Supreme Commander of the Argo II'—"
I shoot him a look. We've heard tons of the 'Argo II' but had yet to see anything but drawings of it.
Leo raises his hands defensively. "It's a work in progress, Sparky. It's almost finished, no worries.
"Now, back to you, Beauty Queen. If you insist on not calling me by my true name of 'Supreme Commander of the Argo II' you'll just have to live with 'Beauty Queen', Beauty Queen."
Piper huffs again in annoyance, but instead of snapping back like before, she explains to Leo why we're here. "Chiron wants the three of us to see something. And no, I have no clue what it is." Piper then turns on her heel and stalks back to the Big House.
I watch her retreating figure for awhile, before looking back at Leo. "Dude, she doesn't need her buttons pushed too much, okay? She's still wound a little tight over her dad."
"Jase, we do not need a heart to heart about your girlfriend right now, I can do that later, with Pipes. Plus, she's like my older sister, so it's kind of my job to push her buttons a little," My best friend complains. I blush slightly at the word girlfriend. It's still kind of new and unbelievable. "What we need, Sparky, is for you to shut up and find my wrench."
"Is that what you lost?"
"Yes, now look!" he demands. I sigh and bend down, help him burrow into the mess.
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Seven minutes later, Leo and I walk up to the Big House sporting new clothes and Leo's wrench. Piper stands on the porch, eyeing us weirdly, but grinning. I wonder if Chiron let her talk to her dad while we were being doofuses. I hope.
I grin back at her. Her grin grows into more of a smile. She grabs Leo and my hands and pulls us into the Big House. "Chiron, we're finally here!" she shouts. Chiron comes walking out of one of the front rooms.
"In here, my heroes," gesturing to the very room he just left.
The three of us enter. "Have a seat wherever." I focus immediately on the huge 'L' leather couch that's placed almost dead centre in the large room. I plop down. That's when I notice the enormous flat screen TV in front of me. Leo practically flies into a beanbag chair shouting, "What are we watching? What are we watching?" Piper ruffles his hair a bit when she walks past and settles next to me. I put my arms around her, pulling her closer, and kiss the top of her head. She lays her head on my shoulder.
"Heroes, it's come to my attention that you'll be spending at least a months of two on a flying boat with three other great heroes you've never met. Two of them I have not met. But when it comes to the third, I can help you. With the gods help, the rest of your cabin, Leo, has put together a little video of who Percy Jackson is. Hopefully through this it'll be easier to figure out Percy and be prepared for his...unique attitude."
(A/N which basically just means he's slightly awesomer than Leo.)
"Okay," I respond.
"The first part is from when he was twelve," and Chiron presses 'play' on a remote. Finally I'm getting to see the boy I swapped places with. Finally I get to see what everyone's talking about. Finally I get to see the boy that Annabeth loves so much.
The screen starts out black. Headlight pierce to gloom, and we're standing on a hill as a car drives towards us. As the car passes, you can see a woman shushing two boys in the back. I startle, recognizing one. The shaggy one with the rasta cap is Grover, a satyr at Camp and the Lord of the Wild.
"Is that, Percy?" Piper asks, pointing to the other boy. This one has dark hair and is kind of scrawny.
"Yes, child. Now watch."
The three of us look intensely back to the screen. The car has disappeared. In its place in a giant half bull half human hybrid. The Minotaur. I see the same boy from before standing in front of it, facing off. Percy Jackson. Grover is laying on the ground, unconscious, on the left of the screen. The woman who drove the two, Percy's mom I assume, is no where to be seen. I watch in anticipation as the Minotaur starts to charge Percy, fists out at his side to catch him if Percy decides to leap to the side. I see calculation on Percy's face as he evaluates his options. He crouches, ready to spring. As the Minotaur closes in, Percy leaps up and using the Minotaur's head as a spring board, lands on the monster's furry back. There he latches onto one of the horns and pulls. It snaps and the Minotaur disintegrates, leaving a very much alive Percy to pull himself up and back over to Grover.
I gasp. This dude is insane. How powerful is he? Gods, no wonder he's one of the seven.
"Later that week he received a quest to find Zeus's master bolt," narrates Chiron.
The screen switches over again and there's Hades. Beside him is the woman from before, Percy's mom. Is Percy in the Underworld? The shot zooms out and I see Percy, Grover and...Annabeth? She obviously looks younger, but it's definitely Annabeth. Percy's mouth moves. Hades looks taken aback. Is Percy sassing a god? How is he not dead?
Percy pulls out what looks to be a pearl. He nods to Annabeth and Grover. They pull out similar pearls and the three smash them at the same time. They shoot above Hades's head and out of the Underworld.
Percy, Annabeth and Grover are the first ever heroes to emerge alive from the Ubderworld. It's incredible. I suddenly feel very small and I sink into my couch cushion. All the things I've bragged about, Percy basically matched them all when he was twelve. Except Krios. I still have that over him. But considering Percy must be almost seventeen now, he's got another five years. He's going to beat me in accomplishments pretty quickly.
Next is a scene on the beach, I'm not to sure which one. Percy, Annabeth and Grover stand on the sand, facing a steaming, buff, read-faced man. I place him instantly: Ares.
The war god takes out a sword. Percy takes out a pen. What? He flips the cap off the pen. The writing utensil elongates into a gleaming bronze sword. Hades Underpants, is he going to battle Ares? A god?
Holy Hera, how the hell is he alive?
They take their stances. Then they start whipping and slashing doing only Zeus knows what. Even for me, who had still refused to learn Greek style fencing, can tell that Ares has the upper hand... until Percy gets pushed into the water. He seems to almost revive with the liquid, standing straighter, looking tougher. Then it's all a blur. All I see is Percy leap and then Ares disappearing in the ocean, his foot bleeding gold ichor. Remind me not to challenge this guy to a duel.
The video goes on and on. Percy, maybe a year later, with the control of an entire boat, sails, rigs and all. Him, Annabeth and a cyclops sailing through the Sea of Monsters. Fighting the enormous cyclops, Polyphemus and successfully gaining the Golden Fleece.
Like the actually Golden Fleece. The very one sitting in my sister's tree. Guarded by a dragon. Damn you, Percy, stealing my thunder. But I do admire him. Holy Hephaestus he's done a lot.
As the screen goes dark and I start to stand up — thinking it's finished. Chiron puts a hand on my shoulder. "Child, there is more to come."
I raise my eyebrows in disbelief, but sit.
At the age of fourteen, Percy held up the sky. The sky. The fudging sky, guys. He also fed flesh eating horses, wandered the Labyrinth and blew himself up, landing on Calypso's island.
At fifteen, Percy lead a war. Against almost a million or so monsters. With a total of forty campers. "Is this guys human?" I ask aloud.
"No, he's half god," Piper replies. Leo just sits on the beanbag, jaw opened wide.
Then another scene flashes on. Annabeth, Percy and a different guy. A guy that's been a couple shots before, but I don't recognize him. He has blond hair and blue eyes. His appearance would be Aphrodite worthy, had the deeply cut scar running from his eye to his lip not mates his face. I study his face. His blue eyes aren't like mine, they — they're gold. Did his eyes just change colour? Is that possible?
It must be, because the blond, scarred boy now has glowing golden eyes. Percy points his sword at him. It hits me. This is Kronos. The King of the Titans. Somehow he's using this boy.
His eyes flash blue again. He puts his hand out, as if asking for something. Annabeth hands Percy her dagger. The same dagger I see sheathed at her waist everyday. Percy passes it to Kronos.
What is he doing? Does he have a death wish?
But Kronos doesn't stab Percy. He doesn't do anything except pull his shirt down at the sleeve above his armour, to reveal a tiny patch of skin under his armpit.
He plunges the dagger into it.
The screen goes black.
I sit in my seat, waiting for another scene to show up. But once again I feel Chiron's hand on my shoulder. "It's done. Those were some of Percy Jackson's heroic acts in the last couple years."
"Some?" Leo raises his eyebrows.
"Well, yes. He also killed Medusa, the Furies, saw the Fates, battled Hades, and much more. But the video would be much to long. As it was, it's been over an hour."
I sink in my seat. Compared to this guy, I look like a jellyfish floundering away in the ocean. I'll admit it, there is a part of me that's jealous. But I have to let it go. Even after all he's been through, campers don't talk about him in fear, as if he's sone sort of evil dictator who makes everyone worship the ground he walks on, but as more of a good friend or a brother of some sort. Plus there's the fact that Annabeth loves him. There is no way he could be a conceited jerk for that to happen.
I stand. "Thanks, Chiron. For showing us this. When we get to Camp Jupiter now, maybe we won't be taken so much by surprise at whatever he's done over there while we've been doing nothing too much over here."
Leo smirks. "Maybe."
Piper pulls at my hand. "Come on. I want to go talk to Annabeth. I mean, now I kind of get a little of what she's going through. Percy seems like a amazing guy."
I give my girlfriend a pouty face. She kisses my cheek. "Of course you're an amazingly too. But your my amazing guy, and I want to get Annabeth's back to her."
I kiss Piper's forehead. "Come on."
She drags me out the door.
Well that was long. Probably had a ton of completely unnecessary stuff in there...screw it.
Have you guys ever spent forever wondering where you would have your Achilles spot? Because I do that a lot. I don't know, is this just a me thing? Am I just being wired? Course, I still have no clue where I'd put it. Maybe one of my toes? Actually no, that's really stupid, I bang my toes against furniture every day. I'm not exactly what you would call graceful... yeah.
Anyways...stay alive. Be awesome. Have eyebrows.
Yeah.
