She knew Zoe...? I can't believe it.
"Zoe...? Y-you knew her?" I put my head down. I couldn't look at anyone in the eye. It's hard to talk about Zoe.
"Yes... and I'm so sorry about her." She said.
I took a deep breathe, "Yeah... Me too. I'm sorry about her too."
I sighed, "How... Did you know her?" I asked.
I didn't know much of her outside life with others, but I knew everything else. I wish I was able to know her life outside of our lives. Too bad.. I'll never know.
"Her mother, I was great friends with her mother. When I met Zoe she was only talking about you." She said.
"How come I've never met her?" Jay asked.
"You were too busy trying to hit on older girls, besides you never been to their house." She said.
What a coincidence...
"Wow how typical of you Jay." I scoffed.
"Hey, I was very good at getting girls even in middle school." Jay said.
"Yeah with that high pitched voice, you for sure got all those high school girls." I grinned.
His mother laughed, and then Jay got a message.
"Who is it?" I asked.
"Elliot, apparently we have to head to school, something about a new vice principal?" Jay said, "Yeah we are gonna have a pep rally, which is so stupid."
"Oh god... Do we have to go?" I asked.
"Elliot said to not leave him abandon and there is something important going on... or else he will release those photos- ok we are heading back to school." Jay said.
"What photos?" His mom asked him.
"Yeah Jay... What photos?" I raised my eyebrow and smirked.
"I don't know what photos." Jay denied, "Well we will see you later mom." He kissed his mom goodbye.
I looked at him with disgust.
"What? Do you want a kiss too?" Jay grinned.
"No way in hell would I want to kiss you." I said then turned around and walked out.
"Wait Jay!" His mom said, "There is something I need to tell you... Before you leave."
Jay walked and leaned over his mom, and she then whispered in his ear. After she said what she said his eyes were wide in shock..
What did she say to him?
He walked out almost speechless.
"What did she say?" I asked.
"Uh.. Nothing, it was just that.. That she was wishing me an early happy birthday." He said.
Oh yeah his birthday is tomorrow.. I kind of forgot. How typical of me.
After that we left the hospital and drove straight to school. Well actually I kind of made him stop at the gas station to get me some food.
As we were driving I asked him, "What about uniforms? We can't go in without it."
"Geez quit asking fucking questions, Elliot is getting us come temporary clothes." Jay rolled his eyes.
"Umm hello? Literally 1% of our school is a girl, what makes you think we have a spare girls uniform?" I asked.
"I don't know, but who cares? It's not my problem." Jay smiled.
Ugh, I rolled my eyes. Now that I think about it, every time he smiles, it kind of makes me smile. Is that weird?
We arrived to school and Elliot was waiting outside with some other guys talking. While Jay and I got out of the car and walked up to him.
"So? Where the hell are we gonna get in? We don't have uniforms." I asked.
"You're fine." Elliot said and then gave Jay a uniform.
"What?" I asked.
"You are the only girl at this school, what makes you think that the teachers care if you have a uniform? They already recognize you." He said.
I scoffed, "Ok, whatever. But when is the pep rally?"
"Hey! You kids! Get to the gym!" Someone yelled.
We all turned around and it was Patricia..
Strange. Why the fuck is she here?
"Patricia?" Jay said.
"Jay!" She said all happily and walked up to him.
"What are you doing here?" He asked.
"Why else?" She said, and we looked at her very confused, she sighed, "I'm the new vice principal."
What? She is our new vice principal...?
"You have got to be kidding me." Elliot said.
"Seriously." I mumbled.
"Come on Jay, we have things to do." She said as she wrapped her arms around his waist, and walked him inside.
"She came here to ruin my life." I told Elliot.
I mean it's probably true...
"She's a pain in the ass, not really sure what Jay sees in her. All I see is a demon." Elliot said.
I laughed.
And then the bell rang and announcements came on.
"ALL STUDENTS REPORT TO THE GYM."
Elliot grabbed my wrist and took me to the gym, mostly because I had no idea where the gym was. I skipped all of it.
When we came to the gym, and we saw Jay on the stage along with teachers and staff. We were standing in the back alongside the wall next to the exit.
"Why is Jay up there?" I asked.
"Who knows or cares?" Elliot said, "I mean he kind of does run this school."
Yeah yeah, whatever. I really don't care by now. It's been like a few months, I haven't been here that long to know that.
And then the teachers got the school quiet, when they finally shut up Patricia walked up to the stage and announced she is the temporary Principal until Principal Paul comes back.
"Wait, she said she was a vice principal." I was in shock.
"She's a liar, I hardly believe everything she says anymore." Elliot said, "She only said she was a vice principal so that we would be even more shocked that she is actually the temporary principal."
That bitch.. I rolled my eyes, everyone was murmuring.
Then Jay walked up to the podium and said, "If any of you come close to her, I'll hurt you all."
"Oh my god, he is such a dumbass. He is practically announcing that he likes her! So fucking stupid." I said.
"Why do you care?" Elliot asked.
"Because it's stupid, that bitch wants attention." I said.
"Yes but why do you care that they like each other?" Elliot asked.
"I don't!" I raised my voice.
Ugh, I swear I have had enough of this nonsense, I am going to leave.
"Whatever I'm fucking leaving." I said, and I walked out of the gym and Elliot followed.
"Where are you going?" He asked.
"More like why are you following me?" I stopped.
He grinned.
Seriously he's not gonna say anything?
"Whatever." I said and then I kept on walking.
We heard someone running behind us, and then they said, "Where are you going?"
We turned around and it was Jay.
"Oh god, look I'm trying to leave right now, and you two are making this really difficult." I said.
"Why are you leaving?" Jay asked.
"I'm not in the mood right now ok? Just please leave me alone." I walked away.
Jay ran up and grabbed my hand.
"I'm not leaving you alone." Jay said.
I pulled my hand out of his grasp, "Look I'm tired as shit, I need to go somewhere right now."
"Oh Jay~!" A voice that I did not want to hear appeared from behind.
It was of course Patricia.
"Where did you go? I was looking all over for you." She giggled and hugged Jay from behind, "Why are you with her?"
She glared at me and gave me a disgusted look.
I rolled my eyes, "It's ok, I'm just about to leave."
"Oh great! I'll have to write you up for skipping, but I guess it doesn't matter. For me anyway." She grinned and I finally left.
I was so done with everyone. I think it's time for me to visit an old friend, so I decided to call Kevin and asked him to take me to Amber's place. So I called Kevin and he came as soon as he could.
"Hi Kevin... It's been so long." I smiled.
He gave me a hug, which I needed, he was like a father to me. I'm grateful for having someone like him in my life. Even if he was a grandpa.
"Miss Matthews, I do you ever wondered why I chooses the job to be your butler?" He said.
"Actually I have, I'm the worst person ever." I said, "You are so much better without me."
He let go and smiled, he gestured me to the car. We got into the car and drove.
"I came to you for a reason... It wasn't for the money at all. In fact, I don't even take the pay checks your parents give me." He said.
"What? Why?" I was in shock, "No you need to take those pay checks Kevin you have a family!"
This is this first time I've ever heard of this... How could he?
"I don't need money, I own half of America's most expensive hotels." He said.
"Wait hotels??" I asked, "You are that rich and yet your still working as a butler?! Kevin, you have so much to live for and yet you throw it all away for me...."
"Yes.. I did, but I did not throw it away, I gave it to my eldest son. He is 45 in age." He said.
"But before! Even if you gave it to your son, he's still your son, he gives you so much. You gave him so much! This isn't fair Kevin... I treated you like shit at times." I said.
"Yes, I still do own it but my son runs it. But you need to understand that I became your butler for a whole different reason..." He said.
"What is it...?" I asked.
"Do you remember your grandmother Sam? Her name was Beth." He said.
"I remember her... She was there before you... But she died, she was the one thing I called family." I said.
"Well me and your grandmother were best friends, and before she died she sent me a letter asking me for something. And if you knew your grandmother you know that-"
"She never asks someone else something unless she really needed it." I said, "But her days living with us, she never asked for help. Not even once."
"And that something she needed was you, she couldn't bare to leave you, but her time was coming... So she asked me to watch over you. She knew how badly they treated you, she knew how much you loved her. And she loved you so much." Kevin said.
"Stop... You're making me feel sad without her." I mumbled, "But thank you.. For sticking around me for so long."
And then we arrived at Amber's place, she was staying at this fancy hotel. We both went up the elevator and knocked on her room door.
"Who is it?" She said from behind the door.
"The only person to actually visit you!" I said.
Amber opened up the door for me, and she was smiling.
"Sam! It's so great to see you! Here for some therapy? Come on, you just got your legs to work again." She hugged me tightly, "Oh hello Kevin!"
I pushed her off of me, "Yeah yeah, I got things to vent to you about." I said and then walked in without giving a fuck.
"Oh Sam... No need to be a sourpuss." She said.
Um a sourpuss? Sounds gross.
"Whatever, I'm fucking upset." I sat down on her comfy couch.
"About what? Or rather who?" She smirked.
"Jay! He's being so fucking rude!" I said.
I'm getting so annoyed with him. Him and Patricia are getting on my nerves.
"Why?" She grinned.
"Because he is an ass! Ever since that bitch started 'liking' him, which is bullshit because she doesn't even like him, she's only doing it to get at me for being with Jay so much. But it wasn't even my choice!" I said.
I was getting pissed, but it felt great to yell.
"Sam... You're feeling distressed and somewhat jealous of Jay and that girl." Amber said.
"I'm not jealous." I snapped.
"And you seem to not like it when she tries to come between you and Jay..." She said.
"And?" I said.
Seriously she needs to get straight to the point.
"Doesn't that mean that you like Jay?"
