♣ Marie Smith ♣

“The plane has landed.” Henry's stern tone cut through my sleep, snapping me out of my dream where I was kissing him.

As soon as my eyes opened, I realized my head was still resting on his shoulder, but his hand was no longer wrapped around me.

I jerked my head up, embarrassment of all that'd happened flowing through me.

I'd told him about my dad, and even about my phobia. Geez, could I be dumber.

I recalled his reaction to it all. He'd actually been really great, I hadn't expected such reaction from him.

For a moment, I'd forgotten about the stern version of him and saw a different man.

I saw the man I'd fallen for in the beginning.

Wait, “we've landed?”

He didn't reply and just unfastened his seatbelt then left.

I did the same, feeling even more annoyed at how vulnerable I'd acted in front of someone like him.

And how his comfort had made me feel inside.

I would never admit to what I'd felt at that moment. The peace I'd felt in his arms.

Once the three of us (including Mrs Fila) were out of the plane, I realized that the plane had flown for eight hours, which meant I slept for eight entire hours.

What?

I had to blame it on how comfortable his body was. It felt like the softest pillow one could ever fall asleep on.

So no, it wasn't my fault one bit.

But then I realized I hadn't eaten a thing the entire way, and now I was really hungry.

Once we stopped in front of a car, he turned to Mrs Fila, “you'll have to take another car today.”

She nodded her understanding, “yes sir,”

Again, that pinch of emotion I won't admit to be jealousy, washed over me.

So whenever he went on business trips, they'd stay in the same car? Why couldn't they just take separate cars and arrive at the same destination.

I reminded myself that she was married, and even if Henry was to be the unfaithful type (which I doubted), she'd not be like that as she should love her husband.

She gave me a small smile like she knew I was thinking about her, before heading to the car behind us.

A bodyguard opened the door for us, closing it as soon as we'd both gotten in.

The car roared then came to life, and soon we were on the road. In another country.

Again, that excited part of me jumped up at the thought of another country.

Germany. Yay!!!

I stared out the window in awe the entire time. I wanted to ask Henry a question, but knew he wouldn't answer so I asked the driver instead, “what state are we in?”

“We are in Bavaria, ma'am.” He responded in a German accent, the happiness in me exploded.

I hadn't even realized our driver was German, the first German person I'd be encountering in my life.

I giggled my excitement, turning back to the beautiful state. The road was beautiful.

There were modern buildings, shopping centers and residential areas around, it just made me smile even more.

“This place is beautiful,” I commented, to no one specifically.

“Yes ma'am, you should take a tour around the country,” the driver suggested, “I can sense you'll love it.”

I nodded, “thanks, you know, since you're German, maybe you could give me a tour.” The excitement in me increased every second.

“You know ma'am—”

“Would you shut up and drive?” Henry commanded in a low but intimidating tone, I found myself shutting up also.

I glared at him, noticing he still hadn't raised his head from his phone.

What was wrong with this dude? He just let all my excitement die. Probably because he thought we were making noise and he hated it.

Stupid dude.

I huffed, staring out the window the entire way till finally we stopped in front of the Horsen Dasy Hotel. Derrick's hotel.

I mean, this hotel was everywhere in the world.

A German bodyguard sauntered towards us, opening the door for us which he closed once we were out.

Mrs Fila's car came to a halt behind ours and she walked out of it, heading towards us.

The three of us started towards the hotel, a few guards trailing behind us.

Once inside, I was awed by the beauty. It might not be as huge as the one in New York, but it was mouth watering.

We started towards the receptionist, but I was too awed by the place to even care about what was going on.

I'd been at his hotel once in a while during the past year, but not once had I ever not been awed by how great it was.

It was very huge.

Henry and Mrs Fila started moving, snapping me back to reality so I had to rush to meet with them.

Soon we were in front of the transparent elevator, and a bodyguard pressed the button as the elevator dinged then the doors separated.

Only the three of us went in, I wondered why the guards didn't follow.

Maybe he didn't like them following to his room.

Mrs Fila pressed the last button like it was an instinct and something she was used to.

After a moment of silence, the elevator dinged again, and the doors separated so we all walked out.

The last floor certainly was beautiful. And there were few rooms on this floor.

The three of us stopped at a door that read 10A, he retrieved a card that read 10B, then handed it to Mrs Fila.

She collected it, bowing before leaving to the door beside his.

He handed me the 10A card, which I accepted, surprised when I noticed his was also 10A.

“Are we staying in the same room?” I asked in surprise.

He stared down at me like I was stupid, “did you seriously think otherwise?”

What?! With all that'd happened today, all I wanted was distance between us, not this.
