Professor Umbridge's pink outfit stood out against the dark, gloomy classroom. Dada with her would be very different.
Y/n examines the book she has given them, wondering how it will help them defend themselves if they only read it rather than practice defense spells.
"That's ridiculous," she said to Draco making him chuckle.
"There's nothing in here about using defensive spells" Hermione asked her, Y/n's best friend.
"Using spells? Well I can't imagine why would you need to use spells in my classroom"
"We're not gonna use magic?" Ron asked.
"You'll be learning about defensive spells in a secure, risk-free way"
"What use is that? If we're attacked, it won't be risk-free" Harry said.
"Students will raise their hands when they speak in my class" Umbridge said, strictly before turning in her usual cheekily smile. "It is the vies of the Ministry that a theoretical knowledge will be sufficient to get through your examinations, which, after all, is what school is all about"
"And how's theory supposed to prepare us for what's out there?"
"There is nothing out there, dear. Who do you imagine want to attach children like yourself?" She continued.
"Oh, I don't know. Maybe Lord Voldemort" Harry spoke, making all the students turn to him, at the use of his name.
"Now let me make this quite plain. You have been told that a certain dark wizard is at large once again. This is a lie" she said and approached Harry's desk.
"It's not a lie. I saw him. I fought him"
"Detention, Mr potter"
"Cedric Diggory dropped dead of his own accord?" Y/n spoke for their first time.
"Y/n/n, what are you doing?" Draco asked quietly beside her.
"L/n, is it? Are we trying to defend Mr Potter now?"
"I'm trying to tell you the truth about what happened to him, which you don't understand."
"Y/n, easy, you don't want detention," Draco whispered, lightly squeezing their interlocked hands.
"And what exactly happened to him?"
"Voldemort killed him." Harry responded.
"Mr Potter and Mrs L/n, both of you detention"
"What for, standing up for our friend, saying our opinion?" Y/n continued.
The pink toad did not respond and continued with her so called lesson.
"I warned you," Draco said as they walked hand in hand through the Hogwarts grounds to their next lesson.
"What do you want me to do Draco, remain silent as Umbitch explained that my friend's death was an accident. Hell no, I would not have remained silent."
"I'm not telling you not to voice your opinion, but we don't know how she acts and -"
"And now I have detention with her after lunch," Y/n explained.
"It's going to be alright, she probably will make you clean some selves or right some lines"
"Yeah, what could go wrong?"
It was time for detention. After lunch, she and Harry walked together to her office. Before entering, they exchanged glances and took deep breaths before Harry opened the door. Y/n's heart was racing; she was so nervous. She never had detention during her three years at Hogwarts.
"Good evening. Sit. You're going to be doing some lines for me today." the pink toad said.
Harry and Y/n went to grab their quills, but one of Umbridge's giggles stopped them, turning to face her.
"You'll be using a rather special one of mine" she said and handed to them.
"Harry you'll write 'I must not tell lies', Y/n you my dear, you'll write 'i will speak kindly to others'"
They looked at each other and began writing; after four lines, something began to form in her other hand; when she looked, she noticed 'i will speak' engraved in her hand, written in blood. After a while, the sentence was completed. All she wanted to do was cry because the pain was excruciating.
"Off you go, and mark my words," Umbridge stated.
They left quickly, with Y/n saying goodbye to Harry before heading to the Slytherin common room. Straight at Draco.
When she arrived, she didn't see him in the common room, so she went into his private dorm, knocked three times, and entered. Draco recognized who was immediately. Y/n noticed him doing his homework, but when he saw her in such a state, he stood up, walked over to her, and wrapped her in his arms, y/n clenching to him as if he was going away.
"Hey, it's okay, what happened, love?" Draco asked gently, looking at her puffy eyes.
"She's cruel."
"Who is?"
"Umbitch," she replied, showing her hand at him. He held it gently, caressing it with his finger, causing yn to wince at the unexpected contact.
"I'm sorry, love," he said, looking at what had been written.
"I will speak kindly to others," he read, looking at Y/n.
"She came up with that," yn said, sitting at the foot of his bed.
"You are the most caring, sweet, and lovely person I know. And I consider myself extremely lucky to be your boyfriend. So whatever mark she left on you doesn't have to affect you at all," he reassured her, gently caressing her back, his eyes filled with love and adoration for the girl.
"Thank you, Draco. What would I do without you?" she said, kissing him.
"Mmm, I'm asking myself that same question every day, I don't deserve you"
"Nonsense, you deserve so much," she said, lying down on his bed with Draco on her chest, hearing her heartbeat.
"I love you, y/n," he mumbled, looking up at her.
"I love you even more, Dray."
"Impossible."
