Lorelai Out of Water

By prongslover22

Christmas had come and gone for the little town of Stars Hallow and soon the snow and ice had thawed creating a way for Spring to slowly step in its place.

Not much had happened over the course of two months. Early January there had been the towns annual 'Firelight Festival' where Gen had dragged Tristan to (seeing as he was in town for winter break). They double dated with Bailey and her boyfriend where the couples had run into Rory followed by Jess, Dean, and his little annoying sister, Clara.

The twins' great-grandmother, Lorelai Gilmore the first also arrived to celebrate Richard's sixtieth birthday. At the dinner, Gen conversed happily with her great-grandmother about her college plans, senior year, and gran's life in England. Gen was named after Richard's mom. Her middle name was Genevieve. Her great-grandmother had also been on the track team back in her youth, of course, this was when girls were starting to join men's sports, so her grandmother had received quite a bit of backlash.

A couple of weeks later, Rory had a falling out with Paris because Francie (a wannabee popular) had staged a coup to make it look like Rory betrayed Paris. There was a huge fight in fencing class and Rory came home in a bad mood. The next day, Francie found frogs in her locker along with a threatening note with the initials G.L.G

Things at the Gilmore house hadn't been quiet either. Emily had been sued by a former maid and asked Genevieve and Lorelai to make a statement on her behalf. Gen happily agreed while Lorelai drug her feet in the sand about it.

Now, it was nearing the end of February, and the three Gilmore girls were standing in front of their garage getting ready to clean it to let Lane's band practice.

"I say three years."

"My bet is four."

"What? It has not been four years since we stepped foot inside our garage." Lorelai turned and looked at her daughters.

Rory nodded her head. "That's right. It was when we got the jeep."

"That wasn't-yes it was." Lorelai pouted at the fact they hadn't cleaned the garage in four years. Their mom refused to park in the garage instead on the driveway.

"Ok, then let's get to it." Gen grabbed a couple of boxes, a broom, duster, and some cleaning towels.

"On three." Rory said.

"One, two three!" The three girls pulled open the door to see boxes stacked practically to the ceiling. Rory and Gen's old bikes, a couple of Christmas trees, old lamps, and even some broken chairs Lorelai hadn't bothered getting rid of.

"Oh my gosh!" Rory exclaimed pointing to a stack of boxes.

Lorelai gasped. "What is it?"

"Those are the boxes from our attic you were supposed to give away two years ago." Rory snapped.

"Whatever do you mean?" Lorelai asked feigning confusion.

"Rory and I spent three days boxing all this stuff in the attic. I even encountered some spiders and cobwebs for this." Gen exclaimed adjusting her earmuffs on her head.

Grabbing some boxes, Gen started dividing them into four piles: Keep, Sell, Donate, and Trash.

"Look, Rory you handle the trash and donate pile. I will handle the keep and sell pile. Mom why don't you hand us stuff and go make some coffee because clearly you can't be trusted with what to keep and get rid of around here." Gen started barking out orders like a drill sergeant.

Rory saluted her twin. "Aye, aye captain."

"Oh my gosh, I didn't realize how much junk we have." Gen held up a baby doll without a head and tossed it into the trash pile.

"Yeah, we're Sanford and Son." Lorelai added tossing more items onto the ground. "Yuck, bye bye."

Rory caught the item before Lorelai threw it on the snowy ground. "Wait, don't! That's Gen's and mine's hug-a-world!"

Gen raised an eyebrow. "Our what? That looks like a deformed blue octopus without legs to me."

Their mother snorted. "Where's the world?" She asked.

Rory pointed to some faint green markings around the stuffed ball. "It's faded. Remember how you, Gen, and I would close our eyes toss the ball to one another and whoever caught it after counting to ten, our finger would land on a random continent or state and that's where we'd go."

"Sorry, but I have no recollection of that memory Ror, now if you'll excuse me this can go into the donate pile." Gen started to grab the stuffed ball from her twin's hand, but Rory wouldn't budge.

"Excuse me, you can't throw out hug-a-world. Tons of great memories were made with this world." Rory defended herself.

Gen scoffed. "Well, I think the world also has something crawling on it, so why don't we toss it in the trash pile."

Rory looked frightened and threw the ball on the ground where it appeared to be moving by itself. She ran in the house claiming she needed a shower to wash off whatever was crawling on her.

Sighing, Gen put a hand to her face and pulled out her phone. Lorelai looked at her daughter. "What are you doing?" she asked.

Smirking, the girl looked at her mom. "Calling in some friends."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"My gosh, it's too early for this." Finn grumbled as he carried boxes labeled 'Donate' to his car. The car in question was a black Cadillac and had license plates with the writing 'FNNBSTR'.
Gen had cocked an eyebrow at Logan when he, Finn, and Colin pulled up two hours earlier with bagels and coffee in hand.
The girl had rung Logan asking for some urgent business to be taken care of. The boy didn't question her and asked for directions stating they would be there in half an hour.
Upon arriving to the little town, the blonde eyes held many questions to which Gen shrugged and order the group to start dividing out the garage's items.
They had just finished sorting everything into the four piles when Lorelai pulled up after coming from a class her and Sookie had taken on 'How to Start your Own Inn' where she declared she was going to learn to fish in order to go on a date with a man she met. Her eyes were filled with questions as well but held a stoic face as she approached the group. Logan had been a gentleman shaking hands with Lorelai and introducing himself, Finn, and Colin. Finn, being himself, flirted with the woman.
Rory had also shown up a couple minutes later with paint cans, brushes, and Lane's band crew. She had pulled Gen aside and demanded a short version of the story. "We met back in October when Grandpa invited us to Yale and sort of became close friends back in December." Gen spit out.
"Well, what about Tristan? I see the way Logan looks at you." Rory asked curiously. Gen shrugged. "Logan and I are just friends, beside Tristan knows about us and he's fine with our friendship." That was a lie. Gen still hadn't told Tristan about Logan because the two were going through a rough patch. The boy had started dodging her calls and not responding to her emails or letters. The couple had a fight over Valentine's weekend, and it was tough to sort things out when you both are a couple hundred miles away from each other.
The truth was, Logan had called Gen over winter break asking if she would be his plus one to a dinner party he had to attend thrown by one of his father's colleagues. The girl immediately agreed, no questions, asked and told Lorelai that she would be staying over at Bailey's for the night.
Instead, she packed an overnight bag and drove to New York where she had met Logan at his hotel he was staying at. There he surprised her with a gorgeous navy dress trimmed with white pearls stitched on the neckline and bottom and silver heels. The two ended up going to the party long enough to meet his father, mother, and sister. The two then snuck out and went back to the hotel where they ordered a bottle of champagne, cupcakes, grilled cheese, and watched Christmas movies. Gen had fallen asleep and found herself in Logan's bed. He had been on the pull-out couch.
After getting back to Stars Hallow, Gen had shoved the dress at the back of her closet and wrote Logan a letter and sent him a Christmas present. Nothing fancy, she had simply gotten him a book on different holiday traditions from around the world. The boy had confessed to Gen saying that he didn't want to take over his father's newspaper business. Instead, he wanted to perhaps go into politics or even public relations.
The two then sparked a friendship where they called, emailed, and wrote letters back and forth. Logan told Gen about his classes at Yale and how he secretly added a minor onto his major. Gen informed Logan about how she started tutoring students in Chemistry and Mathematics. The boy promised to give the girl his tour of Yale if she was accepted.
Now, watching Finn engaging with Zack, Colin and Brian teaming up to paint, and Logan chatting with Dave; Gen smiled to herself. Perhaps two worlds could collide.
AN: Short, but sweet chapter today. I brushed over the plotline of Lorelai learning how to fish because of Alex. Instead, I was bored and felt like spicing things up with bringing Logan into the picture. I haven't quite decided when I want Tristan and Gen to break up, but it will be soon. I hope you enjoyed this chapter! The next one will be a time jump as well to "The Big One" and then after we're almost done with season three.
As usual, I only own my characters, thoughts, and ideas. Amy Sherman Palladino owns Gilmore Girls :)
