It was the day of New Years Eve and I was really excited because in about three hours the Federation was going to put on a Firework show that everyone could watch from their own house and then pretty much everyone simultaneously agreed to a huge after party with lots of food and firecrackers and all of the eggs! Sunny was just as ecstatic as me to wave around sparking sticks with all her siblings but I was excited to catch up with everyone on the island, and maybe see a certain someone...
Are you going to kiss Mr. Fred for New Year's Pa? Sunny asked with a fit of giggles right after. She had already seen his face, claiming the mask thing was stupid anyway but agreed without hesitation to swear herself to secrecy. She hadn't seen us kiss but I knew she had and wanted to call Fred 'Papa' but because I keep telling her no, she calls him Mr, Fred. It's a cute nickname anyway.
"I can't popit. Everyones going to be at the party and you know he can't take off his mask in public." She gave me a roll of her eyes and a frown. Honestly Pa, you build all this but you can't put together that we're watching the firework show from our house with just the three of us? My eyes widen and I flush in embarrassment but I pick her up and swing her around making the both of us laugh. "Oh, what would I do without you Sunny?" I ask putting her down and ruffling her hair, which she both loves and hates. Well you wouldn't have any light to guide you Pa. I smile, glad she remembers how much I love her. "That's right popit, without you I'd be lost and with no light in my life." She smiled and gave me a huge hug.
The time finally came when it was dark enough for the fireworks to shine brightly but apparently Fit, Pac, Ramon, and Richas had come to my place as well so the kids wouldn't be alone while watching the fireworks. I must have shown it for a split second on my face because after everyone had greeted each other Fit pulled me aside. "I'm guessing you were hoping it would just be you, Sunny and Fred so he could take his mask off? Don't worry, Pac and I will get the kids out of your way." and then walked off with a smile on his face before I could even say thank you. A few minutes before the show, Fred showed up.
Sunny immediately ran up to give him a hug. While I walked over with a huge grin on my face. The fact Sunny loved Fred and got along with him so well made these little moments adorable. "Glad you showed up before the fireworks started." He wrote me a reply before holding my hand in greeting. I wouldn't miss watching a New Years firework show with you two for the world. I grinned and noticed how he was stiff upon seeing the others. "Fit promised me he would keep everyone away from us and besides, I have blankets and pillows on the roof of my factory where no one can see us already set up." I whispered to him. He seemed more relaxed at this and greeted everyone else.
After a few minutes of Fred showing up we got a warning firework, a sign it was about to start. The kids continued to run around and play while Pac and Fit found a spot on the grass to sit on. Fred and I sat on top of my factory and looked to the sky to see a projection of a countdown. Everyone shouted with it and cheered when it got to zero. I looked to Fred who now had his mask off and was smiling. Happy New Year he wrote with a heart drawn next to it. "Happy New Year." I replied and gave him a kiss. We watched the rest of the firework show with me leaning on his shoulder. Ramon was holding Sunny on his back and Richas was catching a photo of Fit and Pac sharing their New Years kiss.

The fireworks had gone off and me and Pac shared a kiss. I heard a camera click behind me and turned to see Richarlyson taking a picture of our kiss, he pretended to gag but had a huge smile on his face. So did Ramon, who was carrying Sunny on his back but let go with one hand to high-five Richas after he saw the photo. Sunny was in a fit of giggles but went along with Richas and teased us with fake disgust. I teased them back. "Oh I'm sorry, you think love is silly, well..." I kissed Pac again and he laughed after we pulled apart, clearly enjoying messing with the kids. "Achei que era isso que você queria, Richas." (I thought this was what you wanted Richas.) he said with a laugh. I didn't know what he said but I swear every time he spoke Portuguese I somehow fell a little more in love with him. It was just awesome seeing that he was comfortable enough to speak his native language around me when before he refused to rely on the translater the Fed had programmed in our heads with the fear it would say something wrong. I gave him a quick peck on the cheek before standing up and helping him up as well. "Ready to go Toby?" I called up to where he should be with Fred. His head peeked out and he said, "Yeah just 5 more minutes. Oh, and popit, come on up, yeah?" He directed to Sunny. I saw Ramon place her down and as she climbed up, the rest of the group came to talk while waiting on them. { End of Fit POV :D }
I smiled at Sunny when she climbed up on the roof to join us. Hi Pa, Hi Mr. Fred! She came to give him a hug and Fred sat her in his lap, ruffling her hair like I do with a chuckle. Sunny smiled even brighter, she loved it almost as much as I did when Fred could take off his mask and laugh the best he could and she tried to act annoyed when he ruffled her hair. Fred started doing that to Sunny after he had seen me do it, claiming it was adorable. Now I knew what he meant, it was adorable, seeing the two people I love in this whole world hugging and playing with each other. Sunny was normally all jokes and sass but her eyes seemed to soften when she saw my head on Freds shoulder, his on mine, and her in his lap.
She pulled out a book and wrote a quick message to Fred looking very nervous. She told me to look away while he read it. I obliged but studied his face. His eyes went wide and he seemed to read it over again with tears forming in his eyes but a small smile on his face. I was confused and wiped the tears from his face with my thumb and gave Sunny a gentle look because she was still nervous. Fred leaned into my hand before showing me the book he read. Mr. Fred I'm sorry if this question will bother you but I have to know because both me and my Pa are the most happy when we're with you and my Pa had said not to ask you because he said you might need time but I think you love him as much as I do and I'm saying all this so I could ask if I could maybe call you Papa? It was the longest message I had ever seen Sunny write and I found that my eyes had tears too. The last words were written in smaller writing, almost as if she had said it in a whisper.
Sunny now looked like she might explode if one of us didn't give her a direct reaction. Which after I read the book Fred grabbed her hand and pulled her close enough that he could give her a gentle kiss on the forehead and Sunny began to cry as well but pulled both me and Fred into a hug. Fred wrote her a response. I am so sorry that I am not able to say this out loud, I tried when you were hugging me but that's not the point. The point is that I love you and your father very much and I would love it if you called me Papa. There was a tear on the page when he handed it back to Sunny and she laughed and hugged the both of us again.
When we had regained a calm sense Sunny stood up and sat in Freds lap again. I looked at him. We were both smiling and I pressed my forehead against his and whispered, "I love you. I love you so, so much." He smiled wider and wrote I love you too and lifted my chin into a little longer kiss than in the past and stood up with Sunny, putting his mask back on and helping me up and we regrouped with the others, ready to go.
Richalyson immediately ran up to me with Ramon to show me the picture he took of Fit and Pac's kiss and I pretended to gag as I'd seen him do. Fit and Pac laughed and responded the same way they had done with the kids, kiss right in front of us. I shoved them playfully and said, "Come on, let's go to the party so I can stop watching you two kiss." They laughed again and followed me, hand-in-hand with Fred to walk to spawn. Pac had given the kids more sparking sticks to run ahead with on their way to spawn.
The party had already started when we got there, some were talking and drinking with the Federation workers, but most were dancing in the center of the spawn. I greeted everyone that wasn't dancing because they weren't caught up with the music. I saw The kids run around their parents dancing, some joining their parents and siblings in a dance. I watched Lullah dancing with Phil, then moved to Missa, Then stayed swaying swiftly with Chayanne, laughing the whole time. Sunny ran off with Ramon and Empanada and was dancing as well. I watched Fit hold his palm out to Pac in a slight bow, like I had done to Fred when we had gone to the movies for the second time, and Pac cheerfully accept. Fred handed me a book with what I could make out as a smile. I looked down to read it. Sir. Tubbo, May I have this dance? :) It's the same thing I had said to Fred when I danced with him in the rain. I looked back up to see Fred in the same position as I had been in our first dance, the same position Fit had just been in, and smiled wide. "Why yes you may." I put my hand in his and he led me to where everyone was dancing. People around had good natured shock and collectively cheered when we danced together, it was the first time a Federation worker had participated this much in an activity even though pretty much everyone knew we were together, or at least suspected. Sunny came running up laughing and joined our hands together so we were in a circle and we stepped one way then stepped another in rhythm.
We danced for hours until the party had died down and we had said our goodbyes. Sunny was really tired so Fred carried her on his back and she fell asleep on the walk home so we stayed silent. I took Fred to where she slept and he laid her down, wiping the hair out of her face. He took of his mask as she opened her eyes just a bit and Fred held out a book for her to read. Goodnight my little Sunshine. She gave a small, tired smile and wrote on the same page, Night Papa. With a little heart next to it. I thought my own heart would melt away, I was so overwhelmed with happiness. I flipped the light off and we walked out, Fred was tired as well and was going to use his warpstone to get back to his office.
He touched my cheek and examined my smile one more time before he left. I'm so, so lucky to have you and Sunny. I kissed him one more time before he warped away and fell asleep better than ever before.
