"How can someone like you belong to Orochimaru?" asked Kabuto after he had left the room with Shika, who couldn't say much about a strategy. Firstly because she didn't feel like it and secondly because it was about an Uchiha. Because as soon as an Uchiha had the Sharingan, or even the Mangekyou Sharingan, Orochimaru would always lose anyway.
And the way Orochimaru had described it, Itachi was at a very high level. His talent was apparently very well known in Konoha. So it wouldn't be long before he was a jonin, maybe even an anbu.
"Don't get on my nerves." It wasn't really a request, but a desire towards him. Shika wasn't jealous of Kabuto anyway. He would lose to her on high. It was more his character, his presence that she didn't like.
Shika had never hated a person. Her father had always said that she should gather her own experiences and form her own opinion about people first. So the Nara did not immediately hate Kabuto. But his basic character was simply annoying and exhausting.
"I'm only wondering because you don't seem to have much interest in his plans. A member of Otogakure should do everything for the master, shouldn't he?"
"That's exactly why you're getting on my nerves..." Shika breathed softly, leaning her head back and standing still. He was asking her far too many questions.
"That's not your concern. I'm not a follower like you and I don't dance to his tune. I do what my job is and I'm not needed for anything else, nor will I do anything more for him on my own initiative." Shika spoke and looked into his eyes. The coldness that the Nara radiated made Kabuto swallow briefly.
He had thought she was rather calm. Someone who wouldn't show any coolness. Now Kabuto realized the complete opposite. This actually lazy Nara, as Orochimaru described her in a calm conversation, was not someone he should want to have as an enemy. But there was something that still gave him no peace.
"Why exactly twelve years?" he wanted to know. There had to be a reason why she had chosen that exact number.
"Hm, because it was tactic number twelve and there's enough time for you to put all that knowledge into your puny brain. People like you want to achieve more than you should." Shika spoke and walked on without the boy.
It was supposed to be a warning for Kabuto. One where he had to be careful how he acted. Because as far as he knew, someone from the Nara clan should be taken extremely seriously. Especially if you knew exactly which family Shika came from.
"I advise you not to get on Shika's nerves." spoke Orochimaru, who had now thrown his Akatsuki cloak around him. "She doesn't look or act like that. But she could defeat you with one blow."
"As far as I know, the Nara specialize in other jutsus." Kabuto said, which made Orochimaru grin amusingly. "You still have a lot to learn, Kabuto. Someone with Shika's IQ can achieve victory even with a small shuriken. All it takes is a perfectly thought-out strategy. And from the way she's been watching you since you got here, she probably has a lot of them against you."
Kabuto understood what Orochimaru was trying to say. Now he also understood why he really wanted to have a Nara with him. He wasn't interested in keeping Shika as a vessel and making her stronger because of it. No, besides his master, Shika was the brain of Otogakure, who knew exactly what to do in which situation.
Kabuto, who had adjusted his glasses once more, laughed softly. "I guess she's not as lazy as I've heard..."
