The sun set over the ocean, casting a golden glow on the deck of the ship. ATEEZ had just returned from a successful raid, spirits high and laughter echoing across the waves. Among the crew, Wooyoung moved with his usual energy, though beneath his bright smile, a hidden pain gnawed at him. He felt a sharp pain in his side every time he moved, but he shrugged it off. He couldn't let the crew worry about him, not when they had just achieved something so great. "I'll be fine," he told himself, forcing a smile. "It's nothing."
Hongjoong watched Wooyoung, a frown creasing his forehead. He noticed the slight wince in his movements, but before he could say anything, Wooyoung flashed him a grin and joined the others. "Maybe I'm imagining things," Hongjoong thought, but the worry lingered.
Days passed, and Wooyoung's pain grew worse. Each movement sent a jolt through his body, but he hid it well, not wanting to be a burden. He pushed himself through training, through battles, through everything, his smile never faltering. Every night, when he was alone, Wooyoung would bite his lip to keep from crying out. "I can't let them know," he whispered to himself. "They have enough to worry about."
San, ever perceptive, noticed the dark circles under Wooyoung's eyes and the way he seemed to be avoiding heavy tasks. "Hey, Woo," he said one evening, "you sure you're okay?". Wooyoung's smile was bright but strained. "Of course, San. Just tired, that's all." San wanted to believe him but couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.
The pain had become unbearable, but Wooyoung continued to hide it. During a particularly rough battle, he felt something snap inside, and a wave of dizziness hit him. He stumbled, barely managing to stay upright.
"I can't fall now," Wooyoung thought, forcing himself to keep fighting. "Just a little longer..." But his vision blurred, and his strength waned. He knew he couldn't keep this up much longer.
Mingi saw Wooyoung struggling and felt a pang of worry. "Wooyoung, watch out!" he shouted, but it was too late. An enemy's sword grazed Wooyoung's arm, and he fell to the ground, gasping in pain.
The battle ended, and the crew gathered around Wooyoung, their faces etched with concern. Hongjoong knelt beside him, his eyes dark with worry. "Why didn't you say anything, Woo?" Wooyoung's vision swam as he tried to speak. "Didn't... want to worry... you..." he managed, his voice weak. Hongjoong's expression softened. "You don't have to carry everything on your own, Wooyoung. We're a family."
Seonghwa gently lifted Wooyoung, cradling him as they made their way to the ship's infirmary. "Hang in there, Woo," he whispered. "We'll take care of you." The crew worked together, tending to Wooyoung's injuries and making sure he was comfortable. The atmosphere was tense, filled with worry and guilt.
Days turned into weeks as Wooyoung recovered. The crew took turns staying by his side, making sure he never felt alone. Yunho sat beside Wooyoung, reading stories and sharing jokes to lift his spirits. "You scared us, you know," he said gently. "But we'll get through this together." Yeosang brought Wooyoung's favorite foods, coaxing him to eat even when he had no appetite. "You need your strength," he said softly. "We need you back on your feet." San stayed close, offering comfort and support. "You don't have to hide anything from us," he said. "We're here for you, no matter what." Mingi practiced with Wooyoung, helping him regain his strength. "We'll take it slow," he said with a smile. "You've got all the time in the world." Jongho sang to Wooyoung at night, his voice soothing and comforting. "Rest, Woo," he said softly. "We'll be here when you wake up."
As Wooyoung's strength returned, so did his spirit. He smiled more, laughed more, and the crew felt a sense of relief wash over them. They had faced the worst and come out stronger. Wooyoung looked around at his crewmates, his heart full of gratitude. "Thank you," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "For everything." Hongjoong pulled him into a hug. "You're family, Wooyoung. Never forget that."
