"I-" she stuttered, holding a piece of paper to her chest. Her cheeks turned red as she tried to laugh away her nervousness. "I like you, San- Please accept my feelings!"
San scratched the back of his head. Just before he could say anything, she had already shoved the letter into his hand and ran away. "Ugh...thank you!" he called after her, unsure how to act.
"Is this a new trend?" Yeosang asked disinterestedly, rolling his eyes at the girl from the class below them. "Making a confession to Kim San without even knowing each other seems stupid to me-"
"Hey, don't be so mean!" The twin turned to his brother and looked at him half seriously. "She takes the same bus as us, I know her... sort of."
The walk home went smoothly, but it was clear that some kind of tension was building up between the twins. Yeosang wasn't usually the type to make small talk with anyone on the way home. He usually just put one of his headphones in and listened half-heartedly to his siblings. Unusual was him sternly looking out of the window at the bus, both earphones in at all times, trailing behind them while walking the rest of the way home.
"Is he mad?" Wooyoung asked San, tugging on his older brother's sleeve. "He wouldn't listen to me on the bus today... and his eyebrows are so tense you could swipe a card between them."
San snickered at the comparison Wooyoung made and turned his head to the side to watch his twin. Something was very wrong, he had to know why and what it was.
"I thought people fell in love in spring, now we have two heartbroken sorrow crows," Mingi chimed in on the loose conversation as they bumped their shoulder into the side of San's. "Yunho doesn't look so good either..."
"Heartbroken?" San wondered. "I didn't know Yeosang was seeing someone?"
"Not like that, I think he's... bummed," Mingi added, stealing a glance at the two following him. "I'd be bummed and tense and kind of angry too if my twin got love letters every other day like you do..."
San looked over his shoulder and sighed.
His heart was heavy as it sunk into his stomach. He wondered if that was what Yeosang was feeling; the feeling was intense. He was naturally very empathetic, he was especially aware of his siblings' feelings. Of course he was. But his connection with Yeosang was different. And he was almost certain they could read each other's minds, felt the same, thought the same.
At times like that, he was afraid they might lose that bond. Among his siblings, Yeosang was of course different for him, he was his twin, the one he learned everything with at the same time, he had experienced everything with him together.

“Do you want to come with me? You haven't visited training for a while now...” San asked as he packed his bag for taekwondo training.
Yeosang flicked his tongue without looking up from his book and sparing him a glance.
“Are you sure? The coach asked for you...”
“I don't want to, okay?” Yeosang replied, but his voice sounded like a whip lashing at San.
San was silent for a moment, considering how to react. His first instinct had been to hit back - he just wanted to be nice, there was no need to yell at him - the second was to ignore him - that was not an appropriate way to answer his question - and the third...
“ Are you jealous?”
“Of?” Yeosang raised his eyebrow in serious questioning.
San turned to look at his twin. "Of me, because I'm so popular right now...however that happened..."
For a moment, every word Yeosang had learned in his life had vanished from his memory and he was at a loss, mouth hanging open with a book hanging loosely in his hands. It seemed as if his brain had stopped working for a moment and then resumed working twice as fast as before. The blood rushed to his head, his left eye twitched just slightly, and his eyebrows knitted immediately.
"Are you listening to yourself?" His voice broke mid-sentence, getting louder with each letter.
"I am. You've been so irritated lately. Ever since this whole confession thing started. Tell me, is it that?"
It was the first time San had trouble understanding his twin; Yeosang’s face was expressionless with shock. Did he guess right? Did he annoy him? What was he thinking?
"Get out-"
"You can be honest, I'm trying to help you-"
"San!" Yeosang screamed, and his face grimace when he realized what his twin was accusing him of. "Get out of here!" He swung and threw the book at him. Yeosang's vision had long since gone blurry, his eyes red with anger and frustration. He was still quick to get up and push his twin out. He shoved, kicked, and threw his bag after him.
The door slammed loudly into the frame, the key turning hastily.
"Hey, what are you doing up there?" Seonghwa shouted from below.
"You're being unreasonable!" San shouted at Yeosang, banging his fist on her door. "I'm just trying to help you! ... shithead!"
"Hey! What are you saying!" Seonghwa hopped up the stairs and frowned at the scene. Before he could take another step, San pushed past him through the hallway and ran down the stairs. "San!" He called and went after him, but San went faster; he skillfully maneuvered between the furniture as the father almost stumbled over them. "You're not leaving like this, San," he called but his child was already out the door. Seonghwa sighed and held the bridge of his nose, wiped over his face in cluelessness.
"Father?"
Seonghwa flung around and looked up the stairs; Jongho held onto the railing with an unsure expression. "Yes, Jong-ho?"
"I don't thinl Sangie is okay, I think he hurts..."
~
"I am this close to kicking in this goddamn door, Hongjoong!" Seonghwa whisper-yelled into the phone, "It has been over an hour. I cannot get a hold of either of them."
"...I'll pick up San and handle him, concentrate on Yeosang and the kinds at home," the frustration was clear, even over the phone. A short period of silence followed, then Hongjoong looked around. "I'll lay off now. I'll try to get done as early as possible, okay? See you tonight. Love you"
"Love you too, take care..." Seonghwa replied and sighed.
"What's going to happen now?" Wooyoung asked carefully and looked at his father from the doorframe to the kitchen. "Now I will talk to Sangie," Seonghwa replied, taking a deep breath. He wasn't going to resign before this was sorted out. "But do you mind telling me what happened at school today first?" The parent looked at the three pairs of eyes and led them into the living room. "Because I assume this builds up over the day."
