I've come to understand she squashed me like a bug,
My actions since have been that of self mutilating thug,
It doesn't make sense for a man to pine this many years,
Over a woman that's caused so many late night tears,
Old age and wisdom seem moot traits in reference to her,
Any sane person looking in from outside would concur,
Just give your head a shake she never loved you from the start,
You deserve better concerning these matters of the heart,
It seems love I have for this girl is ingrained in my DNA,
Her image inscribed on me retinally as an angelic appliqué,
That has to mean something in grand scheme of the universe,
But I can't incite a reunion no matter how much I rehearse,
So I'm left here alone to suffer, no answers in my line of sight,
Standing naked before the world and they're all armed to fight,
I can't give in I can't give up I can't force her to drink tea from my mug,
So I'll trust time is on my side and someday she'll crave me like a drug.
