Vivian pulls up a chair and plops herself down, sighing and looks forward.

Vivian: It's been a while since we had one of these chats. Don't say it. I know. I'm the one who does most of the talking. I'll try to keep it short, but you're up late anyway, and it's past time I get your ass up to speed

WOODS

The shot pans out to the side showing tents set up and people walking around the campsite. Ian and Rick are walking through the campsite

Vivian(voiceover): Today was day 35. And things are really taking shape.

Rick and Ian walks past Jadis and Tara who smiles, nodding their heads at them

Vivian(voiceover): It wasn't that long ago we were fighting just to stay alive.

Rosita steps out of a building handing Jenna a handgun as Jenna sighs her name on a clipboard on the wall.

Vivian(voiceover): But it's not like that anymore.

Rick and Ian makes their way past a tree with signs pointing in the direction of all the communities.

Brian steps out of a tent stretching his arms out and yawns loudly.

Vivian(voiceover): We're building.

Lyla steps out behind him, her hair ruffled and hickeys all over her neck. He smirks sending her wink as she smirks back leaning up and kisses his lips.

Jerry: Dude. Mrs. Dude.

Vivian(voiceover): We're still ready to deal with this world on its own terms.

Rick and Ian walks past them, smiling shaking their heads in amusement.

Vivian(voiceover): But we're not letting it define us anymore.

Shaun walks up to Laura who hands him a cup, he takes it in his hand and raises it to his lips taking a sip.

Vivian(voiceover): We're getting back a piece of who we used to be, how things were before all this.

Rick and Ian walks past a sigh that says The Future.

Vivian(voiceover): It's all happening and there's not a damn thing you can do about it.

Rick and Ian walks up the steps onto a wooden platform looking out ahead of them to the bridge that's being rebuilt. The brothers exchanges a look with each other.

CAMP

Ian: You should be happy, Jen

Ian is kneeling down in his and Annabelle's tent. Jenna sheathes her knife in her hilt strapped to her hip.

Ian: What you've done here. What we're doing here. Someday you'll walk across this bridge with your grandkids and tell them how it was built.

Jenna: I'm not gonna bore my grandkids to death with a story about a bridge, Ian.

Ian chuckles softly.

Ian: It's not a just a bridge. It'll make everything better. Without this bridge, there's no trade. No bullets from Alexandria, no grain from Hilltop, fish from Oceanside. This bridge brings us all together. Be proud and be back in two hours to pack. We're going home.

Jenna smiles nodding her head and walks away. Annabelle approaches Ian

Annabelle: Did she get taller? I think she's taller.

Ian chuckles, wrapping his arm around her shoulder.

Ian: She'll be off to college before we know it.

Annabelle smiles, gently caressing his hand, bringing it to her lips.

Ian: If I wasn't needed here and Jen didn't need to finish up school, I'd head back with the both of you.

Annabelle: Oh? That'd be the only reason you'd come back with us?

Ian: There might be an another.

He turns her around to face him.

Annabelle: Mm?

They smile happily at each other.

Annabelle: Lucky for me then, I get to listen to Rosita go on and on about missing Viv. I keep telling her she'll be back there after.

Ian: I know. I know. It's about finding the small moments.......and getting to have as many of those moments as possible. This is just see you later for now. I'm not giving up on the promise me and Rick made when we were fighting the Saviors.

Annabelle looks up at him with a loving smile across her lips.

Ian: Hell no.

Annabelle leans up touching her lips to his in a loving passionate kiss

Annabelle: I love you, pretty hair

Ian: I love you too.

Rick and Lyla are walking through the camp

Lyla: About our makeshift levee upstream, given what Eugene said about the spring runoff, he's putting our expiration date of another six to nine days or something. I kind of dozed off a little

Rick chuckles, shaking his head.

Lyla: After that, it's slam blam sayonara.

Rick: How fast can we have those supports ready?

Lyla: Ditto on the six to nine, but if we burst our asses and shed the lead, I think we can beat it.

Rick: Good. I'll talk to your foreman husband, make sure we do.

Rosita walks up to Rick as Lyla walks away flipping through her clipboard.

Rosita: Scouts got back. "Horatio's" gonna pass us by but it'll be close

Rick: We got a head count?

Rosita: 100 and change. You think we should push the blasting?

Rick: No. If we wait, we'll wind up drawing that other herd.

Rosita: "Margaret"

Rick: And that one's five times as bigger. We got the sirens in place?

Rosita: Hell yeah. I put Jen in charge of it.

Rick: Then we blow the rockslide. If the herd comes, we'll redirect.

Rosita: All right, I'll let em know

She turns and walks away from her future father in law. Lyla walks back up to Rick

Rick: Anything on those walk of?

Lyla: As of head count, we're down one more Savior.

Rick sighs shaking his head, looking away, placing his hands on his hips

Lyla: Rick, I'd hate to say this but if someone's taking em out, I think we both know who's doing it.

Rick(whispers): You don't seriously mean Oceanside's doing something behind our backs, do you?

Lyla: We've lost six in the past month.

Rick: I'll talk to Viv about it. Jen's gotten good at blending in so talk to her, have her get close to Oceanside, see if she can find out if they're responsible.

Lyla: Yeah sure

He nods and walks away. Lyla flips through her clipboard, humming a small tune, blowing her hair out of her face.

Lyla: I am so smart. Yes I am

Jerry: And I am Jerry.

Lyla looks over her shoulder seeing Jerry smiling that adorable smile of his.

HILLTOP

Shaun gallops his horse inside the gate as Maggie is riding a horse inside a pen. Shaun climbs down off his horse. Maggie leaps off her house and walks up to the fence.

Shaun: Hey.

Maggie: You come out alone?

Shaun: From the bridge, yeah.

Jesus folds his arms across his chest standing beside his husband.

Maggie: You find out anything?

Shaun: Viv said they sent the ethanol out last week like they promised.

Maggie: Well it's still not here

Shaun: Jesus mentioned that. I've been looking everywhere I know of but nothing.

Maggie: They could be lying

Shaun: No, Viv's in charge for a reason. They're scared shitless of her and they wouldn't lie to her and besides Laura, I trust her with my life.

Maggie notices Jesus sending her a knowing look.

Shaun: Maybe the guys who made the delivery were taken down by walkers or they went AWOL but......we need the food. I was hoping you might send enough to tide them over until they manage to make more fuel. Two days at most.

Jesus: We could do it. We have the surpluses.

Maggie: Yeah but for how long? Till we get that fuel.......that tractor's not moving which means the big fields don't get plowed and the yield comes in short.

Shaun and Jesus exchanges a look with each other.

Shaun: What about the plow we brought back from the museum? Dad always drilled it in my head to learn how to use the one at the farm

Maggie: I need a blacksmith to fix it. I don't have one right now.

Shaun: How long is Earl gonna be locked up?

Maggie: I don't know, Shaun. I haven't decided. First time we've had to deal with something like this.

Shaun: Look, I'm pissed at Earl too but if you think about it, we know who got in his head, Gregory. He played him and Tammy. It might be time then to start talking about making rules. Michonne and Anna's talking with Zeke about making rules. Laws. Do you think he'd ever do something like this again?

Maggie: I didn't think he'd do it in the first place

Shaun: Well it's good thing we got rid of Gregory's ass.

Maggie: So should I let him walk like nothing happened?

Shaun: No. I hate what he did to you, to Hershel. But if keeping him locked up means the crops don't get planted, then it's not just him that gets punished.

Maggie: Hilltop will be fine. Until that ethanol shows up, we're holding on to our surpluses because my advisors told me we should.

Shaun raises his eyebrow sending Jesus a look, Jesus shrugs shaking his head towards his husband.

Maggie: It's a long ride back to Alexandria. You're welcome to stay the night if you'd like.

She turns and walks away

Shaun: Advisors? Who's the hell she talking about, Jesus?

Jesus: Come on. I think Gracie's up and I'll tell you everything that's going on.

The couple turns and walks towards their trailer.

BRIDGE

People are placing boards and hammering nails along the bridge. Brian, Daryl, and Aaron places a board down

Aaron: So, the last time Shaun let me babysit, I go in after her nap and pick her up, and the diaper just explodes all over me.

Brian: Yeah that's happened to me more then once.

Brian and Aaron laughs out loudly.

Daryl: Sounds like good times.

Aaron: You'll see.

Daryl looks up at him with a nail between his lips

Aaron: What? You'd be a great dad

Brian: He got you there, bro. You'll be a kickass dad

Daryl grunts, slightly rolling his eyes.

Brian hammers a nail down into the board. Henry is walking along the bridge holding a jug of water.

He taps Justin on the arm

Justin: Thanks

Henry pours a cup of water and hands it to him. Justin downs in one gulp. Henry takes the cup

Justin: Easy there, buddy. Justin's still thirsty.

Henry: No. There's not enough. You can't.

Justin shoves him harshly down on the bridge

Justin: Give it a rest, Kid.

Brian and Daryl raises their heads up looking down the bridge. Justin raises the cooler and water oozes down his throat.

Vivian walks up behind him kicking his legs out from under him knocking him down.

Daryl: Oh now it's getting good

Brian: Oh hell yeah. Work and a show.

Vivian: Back off now.

She leans down picking up the cooler and hands it to Henry who walks away. Justin stands up and begins walking after Henry but Vivian grabs his arm

Vivian: Hey. Kid's doing his job. Get back to work.

Justin: I don't need your people telling me what to do. You're not my babysitter

Vivian grabs his arm as he spins around swinging his fist but she ducks under his blow and rears her fist around connecting to his face knocking him down into a pile of sawdust.

He grabs a pile of sawdust throwing it into Vivian's eyes and rushes towards her tackling her onto the bridge. Vivian kicks him in the chest knocking him off her and leaps up to her feet.

She punches him hard in the face then knocks him back against the wood. People are surrounding them screaming loudly.

Rick and Ian: HEY!! HEY!!

Ian: BREAK IT UP!!

Brian and Jed are gripping each other's shirts glaring at each other in hatred.

Rick and Ian breaks their way through the crowd.

Rick: Break it up right now!

Justin has his arm around Vivian's throat as he throws his fist back to her face knocking her backward. Ian grabs him and pushes him backward.

Vivian lunges towards him but Rick grabs onto her arms holding

Rick: Enough!

Ian: Enough!

Vivian rubs her jaw glaring past her dad towards Justin. She spits up blood onto the bridge.

Ian: Get back to work.

CAMP

Vivian: So that asshole just gets a free pass? Is that it?

Vivian is inside the Rick and Ian's tent pacing around back and forth while her dad and uncle gives her looks

Rick: It's just a few more days. We don't like either.

Ian: But we're in a rush to get that work done. The Saviors are over half the workforce, and we've had too many walk off already

Carol has his arms crossed over her chest looking between them.

Vivian: Some of them ain't ever gonna fall in line just cause we say so.

Carol: Viv's right

Rick and Ian looks at her in disbelief.

Carol: These people have never had to live together and we can't expect them to just forget what's happened.

Ian: It hasn't been easy. We know. It won't be for a while but it's not about forgetting, it's moving about moving ahead, all of us.

Vivian is pacing back and forth, clenching her jaw in anger.

Rick: We keep doing that, they'll see we're all on the same side.

Vivian: Are we through?

Rick and Ian looks at her in confusion

Vivian: Cause Oceanside said they only follow Maggie, no one else.

Rick and Ian both looks confused, looking over to Carol

Carol: She's right. Bea told me she only takes orders from Maggie.

Ian sighs as he runs his hand through his hair. Vivian throws open the tent and storms outside

Rick: Viv!

He sighs lowering his head down and places his hands on his hips.

Rick: It's complicated. It's been different since Gregory, not that I'm saying he didn't deserve what happened. Maybe since before that.

Carol: You should talk to her.

Rick gives her a look.

Rick: And say what?

Carol: She's your daughter, Rick. She gets her stubbornness from you

Ian: She's right. She gets being stubborn from you.

Rick: Ha ha, shut up.

Carol: I get what you're both trying to do and it's the right thing. But maybe for some of them, they're just not ready for it.

She walks out of the tent while the brothers exchanges a look with each other. Ian sighs running his hand across his face.

HILLTOP

Tammy and Jesus are standing outside the entrance to the cellar.

Tammy: He's my husband. You have to let me see him.

Jesus: Of course you're going to see him, but we can't do that today.

Tammy: So if not today, when? I deserve a answer.

Jesus: Tammy, please, I'm not----

Tammy: No, tell me. Tell me when I get to see my damn husband!

Jesus: Tammy, I'm sorry.

Tammy: Look, my boy is dead. My husband is locked up. Nobody even talks to me anymore cause they don't know what the hell to say. I don't have much but I've still got rights. Are you gonna take those away from me too?

Jesus looks up at her with a sad look.

Jesus: He tried to kill Maggie. He tried to kill her, Tammy.

Tammy sighs, hands on her hips, slowly nodding her head

Tammy: Yeah he did but because Gregory got in his damn head.

Jesus: I know. Maggie knows that. Just give her a little bit to figure it out.

Tammy: All right. All right. But you tell her that I am not moving until she lets me in there

She grabs a stool and plops herself down in front of the entrance to the cellar.

Jesus sighs turning around seeing Shaun standing behind him, hands behind his back. They walk beside each other around the side of the mansion

Shaun: You gonna tell her about it?

Jesus: Maggie? She'll do what she wants to do or at least what her damn advisors tells her to. She barely listens to me anymore.

Shaun: But what do you think?

Jesus: I think it's not my call, babe.

They walk up the steps onto the porch.

Shaun: But do you agree with it?

Jesus: I don't know if she hanged Gregory for everyone or for herself or both. But I'm not against a grieving mother seeing her husband.

Shaun: Then you should talk to her. She trusts you. She listens to you.

Jesus: And I trust her..........her instincts if not her every decision. No one's right all the time, not her, not me, and not you.

Shaun: That's why we need to make something that's bigger then any one of us. Michonne and Anna are co writing a bill of laws and I'm helping em.

He walks into the mansion leaving Jesus alone on the porch.

STUDY

Maggie: Maybe we can vent that trailer or move the school outside till the next heat wave's over.

The camera slowly pans upward showing a painting of both Glenn and Grady hanging on the wall.

Maggie is sitting on the floor playing with baby Hershel.

Shaun: I'll let Bertie know.

Shaun is leaning against the desk.

He smiles down at Maggie speaking gibberish and smiling at her son. Hershel coos. Shaun picks up a letter from Georgie

Shaun: Twins brought another letter from Georgie?

Maggie: No, I was just reading one of the old ones she sent. Thinking about how much she's done for us, how much is still left to do

Shaun gently places the letter back on the desk.

Shaun: You thinking about joining her? You know she'll ever stop asking.

Maggie: I like her ideas but not that much.

Shaun: I bet she's got a killer record collection by now.

Maggie: I'm plenty busy building a future right here. Lyla's building her own future in Alexandria and you already got one with Jesus and Gracie. Aren't we?

Shaun slowly nods his head.

Maggie: What are you thinking?

Shaun: Tammy Rose. She's been asking to see Earl for over a month now.

Maggie sighs slowly standing up to her feet and sits down in a chair.

Maggie: You think that's unfair?

Shaun: I think some decisions are too big for one person to make. But that's why we used to laws.

Maggie: You've been talking to Michonne and Anna.

Shaun: They're not wrong, Mags.

Maggie: Negan. Gregory. Earl. You won't say it but you think I'm wrong about them.

Shaun: I know you're a good person. And good people can disagree.

He looks over his shoulder staring towards the paintings

Shaun: I know I didn't know Glenn but he wouldn't want you to be alone forever. You know he would want you to be happy.

Maggie blinks her eyes, blinking away the tears in her eyes

Maggie: I know.

CELLAR

The cellar door opens up allowing sunlight to ooze down the stairs. Shaun leads Tammy down the stairs and around a corner to the cell Earl is being held in.

Tammy: I've been trying to see you

Earl stands up off the cot and approaches the bars.

Tammy: Every day I've been trying to see you.

Earl smiles placing his hands over top of hers on the bars of the cell.

Earl: Oh it's okay. I'm okay. They're treating me fair. It's more then I deserve.

Tammy: Don't say that.

Earl: Well it's true. It is. I let Gregory get in my head. 20 years sober. I brought shame to you and Kenneth's memory. I didn't mean to.

Tammy: Earl, you made a mistake. You----you lost yourself. But----you came back

Shaun is standing behind them staring at them sadly

Tammy: You're here now and I forgive you.

Shaun lowers his head down staring at the floor.

Tammy: You hear me? God forgives you.

Earl: Oh Tammy. It's not your forgiveness I need. I just-----I miss him so much.

Tammy: Me too. Me too.

She reaches her hand through the bars placing it on the side of his face.

Earl: Oh baby, I miss him.

LATER

Earl is laying on the cot when he hears footsteps approaching. He stands up and walks towards the door as Shaun walks around the corner standing in front of his cell.

Shaun: I never figured when Mags asked you to build these cells, you're be the first person she'd have to stick in one.

Earl looks away hiding the guilt and pain in his eyes

Shaun: Tell me about the drinking.

Earl: What do you want to know?

Shaun: I want to know how you got here.

Earl: I started drinking right after I quit smoking. Through I could really use a cigarette right now.

He and Shaun both chuckles together.

Earl: How's that for ironic? It wasn't something that got out of control. It was always bad. I was drunk the day Kenneth was born. Hell I can't even remember the first time I saw him. I joined AA after that. But----

He slowly lowers himself down on the wall. Shaun slides a stool and sits down beside the cell.

Earl: When Kenny was 2, me and Tammy were barely making ends meet. I guess the stress of it all got to me. I don't know. I was on my way to pick him up from the sitter's, and I saw the sign for McDuffy's off the highway. The sitter could smell the whiskey on me. She told me. She didn't want to hand him over. She tried to grab my keys. I wouldn't give her a choice

Shaun is listening intently to his story, placing his hands on his knees.

Earl: I took my son and I put him in the truck. The next thing I remember, I was pulled off the road and Tammy was there. I called her, I guess and told her I was drunk. She came to pick us up and take us home. I thought for sure she'd be gone after that, but she stuck around. She said I was sick.......that we sworn to stay together no matter what and that's what we were gonna do.

He looks at Shaun through the bars with tears in his eyes

Earl: I never took a drink after that. I wasn't even tempted. At least, not until----that son of a bitch Gregory. You know the rest.

Shaun: Thank you.

He stands up out of the stool

Earl: Shaun, wait

He stands up to his feet

Earl: Why did you and Maggie hang Gregory and not me? I mean I was drunk and I was weak, but what I did was in me. Gregory didn't make me do anything.

Shaun: You think we made a mistake?

Earl: No. Gregory already deserved to die.

Shaun: Good. I'll talk to Maggie and try to come up with something that gets you out of that cell

He smiles and walks around the corner back towards the door

ELSEWHERE

Tara is perched up high over the tree line in a box on top of a crane looking through a pair of binoculars towards walkers stalking through the bushes in the distance.

Rick and Ian are overseeing the construction of the bridge when Tara's voice comes through the walkie.

Tara: Mother Goose, this is Eye in the Sky. Come in, please.

Ian stands up and grabs his walkie off his belt

Ian: Mother Goose? Really?

Tara: Yeah, no offense but your call signs suck so we can do better.

Brian: Hey guys!

Brian and Alden are on the other side

Ian: Tara, you got something to report?

Rick and Ian begins walking down the ramp towards the bank.

Tara: Yeah, Horatio just hit its mark right on schedule.

Ian: Okay. Let's do this.

He lowers the walkie and clips it back on his belt. The sound of a siren begins blaring in the distance.

Brian: Alden's got something you need to hear.

Alden: Viv asked me to check up on the Saviors who've gone AWOL. I just heard back from----

Rick: We wanted to talk to you about that. Just hold on.

He raises his walkie up to his lips

Rick: Tara, how's it looking?

Tara: Yeah we got em. They're turning.

Rick: Good. Keep an eye out for stragglers. Let em clear the camp then fire up number two before they reach the lumber site.

Tara: Copy that. Piper two, on my go.

Ian: What about those Saviors?

Brian: Alden just heard back from Sanctuary and none of the guys who walked off made it back home

Rick and Ian looks shocked and in disbelief

Rick: None of them?

Alden: No and some of em had families. One guy had a new kid. There's no way they just up and left them.

Tara's voice comes through the walkie

Tara: Piper two, do you read?

Ian: So what do you think is going on?

Brian: I don't know but the Sanctuary's group getting worried and they're the only ones here without guns so........

Rick: Yeah well, we disarmed Sanctuary for a reason.

Tara: Piper two, this is Eye in the Sky. Come in, please.

Alden: There are more of them here then anywhere else, and they're scared. Not to mention they're scared shitless Viv's gonna slit their throats in their sleep. If they wind up deciding they're safer back home, this whole thing's a wash.

Rick and Ian exchanges a look with Brian who shrugs and folds his arms across his chest.

Ian: We'll make sure they're protected.

Rick: We'll even keep Viv in line.

Alden: So they work for you and you protect them, huh? Who's that sound like to you?

Tara: Piper Two, come on. Do you copy?

Ian raises his walkie up to his lips

Ian: Tara, what's going on?

Tara: That second siren isn't going off. If the herd isn't pulled soon, they're gonna run right into our crew.

Brian, Ian, and Rick exchanges looks of horror with each other

Brian: Shit. D and Lyla's there

Ian: So is Jen

LUMBER SITE

Jenna walks through the lumber site as people drags a large log through the grass.

Daryl is moving a saw up and down cutting a log. Lyla walks around carrying cut logs over her shoulders. Aaron runs up and grabs the log helping roll it up towards the top. Jenna notices the horses are getting spooked.

Lyla throws down the legs and brushes her hair out of her face also noticing the spooked horses. Daryl stops sawing and stands up straight as the three shares a look with each other.

Lyla spins around seeing walkers approaching them. She reaches down and grabs a log with a sharpened edge.

Lyla: Time for mommy to get to work

Daryl: God, you're just like your pain in the ass husband. No wonder you're married.

Lyla slams the sharpened edge through the side of a walker's head. She spins around driving it up underneath a walker's chin then yanks it harshly kicking the walker down to the ground.

Jenna's face falls when she spots one of the herds approaching

Jenna: HERD'S COMING!!!

Daryl: BUG OUT NOW!!!

Jed: Oh Jesus, we gotta get the hell outta here!

He drops the rope and leaps off the pile

Aaron: No!

He pulls the man out of the way as the log rolls down pinning his arm underneath. Jenna slams a stick across a walker's head knocking it down. She stabs the edge through its head.

Lyla: Go help Aaron! We'll handle these fuckers!

Daryl nods and runs towards Aaron

Jenna: Get the mules out of here!

Lyla: You---get over there and help Daryl now!

Jenna pulls out her machete walking forward and leaps kicking a walker in the chest, spinning around in mid air bringing the machete down through a walker's head.

Lyla rams her sharpened log through a walker's head then spins around driving it through a walker's eye.

Daryl pulls out his two knifes driving them through the sides of two walkers heads. Jenna brings down her machete through a walker's forehead.

Lyla raises her stick over her head launching it through the air as it lands through a walker's forehead.

Daryl drags Aaron out from under the log and wraps his arm around his shoulder leading him away. Aaron's arm is blooded and broken.

Lyla takes out her knife driving it through a walker's head.

A walker grabs onto her shoulder turning her around when a arrow is shot into its forehead. She turns around seeing Brian aiming his crossbow.

Rick, Ian, and Vivian leads backup into the clearing. Ian swings his ax across the side of a walker's head harshly.

Vivian leaps up off her feet driving her sword through a walker's eye then spins around and with one hard swing slices a walker's head clean off.

Rick: We got this. Get him back to camp.

Rick swings his ax through a walker's head. Brian reloads a arrow and raises it upward, firing the arrow through the walker's forehead.

Vivian rams her blade through another walker's head. Jenna slams her machete through the side of a walker's head.

Lyla does the same with her knife. Ian swings his ax across a walker's head.

Vivian swings her sword through a walker's head then spins her blade through another walker's head. With rapid speed, she takes out four walkers single handing.

Brian takes out his daggers and walks in between two walkers, driving his blade through their heads.

Jenna kicks a walker in the chest then drives her machete through the top of a walker's head.

Brian shoots a arrow through a walker's eyes.

Lyla: I HAD THAT ONE!!

Carol: YEAH SURE YOU DID!!

Ian swings his ax across a walker's head. He looks around then to the rope that's keeping the pile of logs tied together. He grabs his rifle and raises it upward taking aim towards the rope.

With one shot, he shoots the rope making it break sending the logs tumbling down knocking walkers down. One hits a walker right across the head smashing its head into pieces.

Brian: WHOOOOO, NICE!! BADASS!!

Rick and Vivian stops in their tracks, both panting heavily

CAMP

Brian throws the entrance to his tent marching through the camp with anger in his eyes.

Vivian: And I don't give a fuck what you were trying----

Brian storms inside the tent

Brian: Who was supposed to turn the damn herd? Who left their Goddamn position?

Vivian nods her head as Brian turns and sees Justin

Justin: Hey, the walkie wasn't charged.

Brian: Bullshit, it's a solar walkie. You didn't think to check it?

Justin: It's not my fault the radio's a piece of shit.

Brian rears his fist back punching him in the face knocking him out of the tent landing on the ground with a thud.

Brian storms out as Justin stands up but Brian punches him once again knocking him against the tree.

Brian: My wife was there, asshole!!

He punches him in the stomach making him lurch over then Brian picks up a rock

Vivian: Brian, stop!

Brian brings the rock around to the side of Justin's face stands over him bringing his fist down on top of his face over and over again.

Vivian: BRIAN!!

Brian: The mother of my kid could've died because of you!!

Vivian grabs his wrist and flips him over her back landing on his ass.

Vivian: I said stop

Brian slowly stands up panting heavily but glares down to Justin, jaw clenching.

He looks up seeing Henry staring at what just happened.

Vivian: We'll deal with him but not like this.

Brian: There's only way to deal with that asshole.

He turns and marches through the crowd that has gathered in as Vivian sighs watching him storm away.

HILLTOP

Maggie is standing on the balcony as Shaun walks out through the door behind her. She turns around towards him

They both look out towards the Hilltop.

Shaun: You've done something amazing with this place. 100 times better then Gregory ever could. I'm not here to say otherwise.

Maggie: I know what you came to do, Shaun. And I've thought about it. We can talk about common laws. But I'm not giving up the right to do what I think's best for my people.

Shaun: And we would never asked you not to. But I think what's best for everyone will wind up being what's best for Hilltop too.

Maggie: Maybe. I hope so.

Shaun: Well that's the thing about hope. That's really all you need.

Maggie: I asked Jesus to load up the food like we promised-----all of it.

Shaun turns his head towards her staring at her in shock.

Maggie: Earl still owes us a debt but he'll pay it.

Shaun looks towards the blacksmith where Earl is working while under armed guard.

Shaun: Yeah I don't think you have to keep Earl under armed guard. He knows what he did and he hates himself for it.

Maggie: It's only supervision and a council will help me decide when it's time for that to change

Shaun is smiling at her with pride.

Maggie: The plow will be fixed, and the fields will get planted.

Shaun: If you don't mind me asking, what changed?

Maggie: You know Dad used to drink.

Shaun: Yeah you guys always told me about Dad's drinking but he was still a good man.

Maggie: If he hadn't been given a second chance, a lot of people would have been worse off for it. You're a lot like him, you know?

Shaun chuckles while rolling his eyes.

Maggie: But Gregory-----

Shaun: He had chance after chance and he wasted them all. Trust me, no one is mad at you hanging him.

Maggie: I don't regret what I did. Some people can be redeemed. But others can't

Shaun: Who makes that choice?

Maggie: I guess that's one of the things we'll have to figure out.

Shaun slowly nods his head looking at his sister worriedly.

CAMP

Rick is walking through the camp when Justin walks past him

Justin: Hey you need to keep your guard dog and crazy bitch of a daughter on their leashes.

Rick: Excuse me?

Justin: You heard me. Keep that guard dog and bitch daughter on tighter leashes. He damned near killed me over nothing and your crazy daughter----won't be long until she snaps and kills us all.

Rick slowly walks closer towards him.

Rick: I know you. See, I used to be a cop. And every Saturday night, I'd pick up some dipshit like you and have to listen to him run his mouth in the back of my car, every one of them trying to blame someone else for their own damn problems.

Justin: I don't need to listen to this shit.

Rick: Wrong. You're gonna stand there and listen to every word. Now, I gave you the benefit of the doubt. That is done. Now pack your shit and get out of here first thing in the morning. If I see your face again, if you go near my daughter, stitches won't fixe what I do to you.

Justin: Wouldn't stay if you begged me. I'm not waiting till morning, officer.

Rick watches him walk away, eyes full up with pure anger and rage.

ELSEWHERE

Shaun is riding a horse slowly galloping down the road.

Shaun: Woah!

He pulls the horse to a stop slowly raising his eyes up to the night sky. Blinking lights of a helicopter is shown flying through the sky

Shaun: What the hell?

CAMP

Ian walks through the camp where people are gathered around campfires laughing together. He leans against a tree and folds his arms across his chest moving his eyes around the scene.

Jenna is gathered around laughing and talking with Eugene, Laura, Tara, and Eugene.

Rosita has her arm around Vivian's waist who's leaning into her.

Brian has his arm around Lyla's shoulder as she lays her head on his shoulder. Vivian looks down at her finger

Vivian: Do you have the ring you gave to me?

Rosita looks at her

Rosita: Yeah.

She reaches into her pocket and begins to go down to her knee

Vivian: Oh I'm not saying do that.

Rosita: Oh come on. I had Ezekiel write a speech

Ezekiel: I wrote a amazing speech, Vivian.

Vivian looks at her giving her a look.

Vivian: I'm sure you did and you can read it to me later.

She sends her a warm loving smile. Rosita grabs her hand and slides the ring onto her finger. The couple smiles happily at each other

Vivian: I love you

Rosita: I love you.

Ian curls his lips up into a smile as he pushes himself off the tree and walks ahead towards everyone.

Vivian(voiceover): It was a hard day. Hardest we've had in awhile. Aaron lost his arm.

Vivian is sitting in the chair staring ahead of her from the beginning of the chapter

Vivian: Project's behind schedule. People were at each other's throats. Thing is, though, bad as it was......when the day was done......they came together. Not all of em, but enough. They chose to be together. You see what I'm getting at? No matter what happens, it's human nature to come together. That's just what we do.

Negan(scoffs): That's a real pretty picture you paint there, Princess.

Negan is leaning against the wall locked up inside the cell.

Negan: When do I get to see it?

Vivian: Never. You're gonna die behind these bars. You know that.

Negan: Well then, don't I get some kind of final request? Why don't you bring me----

Vivian: Don't you ever get tired of pretending like you're still in charge?

Negan: Do you? You think just cause they had a little weenie roast that you've got all this on lock? When it finally goes to shit----and it will----make sure you come back and tell good old Uncle Negan all about that day too

Vivian tilts her head downward, narrowing her eyes and glares at him through the bars.

Vivian: We're thriving without you, building a future just like we said we would.

She slowly stands up out of the chair.

Negan: Building it for who? For Carl?

Vivian clenches her jaw and hands into fists.

Vivian: You don't say his name.

Negan: Your family's gone, Princess. Same as mine. That bridge----it's not the future. It's a monument to the dead. You're not saving the world, Princess.

He leans up and leans out of the shadows

Negan: You're just getting it ready for me.

Vivian glares ahead through the bars towards Negan.
