Yazmine

Spotted: Yazmine Carter without her Engagement Ring

Devonte Taylor's ex fiancée posts a serious of cryptic messages on her Instagram Story

Did He Cheat?

Devonte Taylor refuses to comment on why he and his former sweetheart Yazmine Carter called it quits

It was the same thing in every article I saw. The shaderoom was no better.

theshaderoom: Weeks after the breakup, Devonte Taylor can be seen out and about with a mystery girl. #NofaceNocase

madeyoulook98: who is she?
jasmineeeee___: He love these nobody ass bitches 😂
hautethot: I knew him and ol girl wouldn't last
moneygangmarc: do this mean yaz dms open 🤔

I shook my head at the newest post on Tae, reminded of when our break up was the main source of attention.

But the media soon got tired of me, and soon there were no more posts about me, or my posts, and there were no more blurry pics of me slapped across the tabloids.

People forgot about me. Maybe if I had had a baby by him, I wouldn't have lost relevance. But since I was no longer dating a famous rapper, and I didn't jump to a new rapper after Tae, I became unimportant.

It was refreshing in a sense. So refreshing that I began to imagine what it would be like if it was permanent.

Of course, my parents weren't exactly keen on the public break up idea, until they saw how much attention shifted from me.

Now they were Team Tae, especially because there were no more incidents of harassment or stalking. I tried to feel relieved but instead I felt like it was too good to be true, especially since the police still had nothing. Tae had someone doing digging but that had been unfruitful so far too.

Therapy was going well. I was able to sleep without meds and my nightmares stopped.

Graduation was just around the corner.

It semeed like so long ago when I was getting ready for Trey's graduation. And dreading seeing Devonte. I smiled. How the tables had turned.

"Whachu think?" Tasha held up a white frilly dress.

"Put that white girl shit down," I laughed. We were graduation shopping. We had to wear white dresses under our gowns, which I was realizing made dress shopping kind of hard. I wanted something cute, but not frilly, and sexy, but not club. But it seemed like everything Tasha picked up was either sexy or frilly. Since moving to Atlanta, I had been nervous I would lose all my social life, since all my friends were in Indy. So I was happy when Tasha told me she would be in town.

I was grateful that living in Atlanta let me see my family more often though. Even my bad ass nephew. But my sister was about to start getting charged for all the babysitting I was doing.

"Girl, let's just order our dresses online. These stores do not have anything," I complained as we left the store. I was stressed because I had waited so last minute to get a dress.

"No, for real, they really don't. At this point I'm going to just get the next white dress I see because I'm tide."

Tasha and I walked out the mall, arms loaded down with shopping bags, but no graduation dresses. "What time is your flight?" I asked her as we walked, searching for her car. I knew where my- well Tae's- car was. It was such an obnoxious nigga ass car it was hard to not notice it.

Usually, I drove my own car, but until Tae invested in a more car seat-friendly car he would just switch with me.

I actually did not like driving his car, because that man loved his cars. I was a pretty good driver but it's not like I never hit a curb or two. The last thing I needed was to bang into something and mess up his nigga car. That's why I drove the less expensive of his fleet. Yes, he had multiple nigga cars and none of his cars had more than 2 doors.

A/N: tell me why I hit a curb when I was driving my man car I got so scared lmaooooo his car got CarPlay & mine don't so I like that but babyyyyy my heart be in my chest when I drive it b cuz you know your girl be fast & furious

"I fly straight out tomorrow at 6 am. I have class, but I'm probably going to skip."

"Mood," I said, finally spotting her rental. The best part about being a senior is how much class I didn't attend. At this point a professor would be shocked if I did come. Since I was taking fluff classes, it wasn't like I would miss anything. All my major requirements were done, I had all electives.

And I was online for all my classes, so most of them were asynchronous. I had like 2 that had zooms, but yeah, I barely logged on.

"Well since you flying out and who knows when I see you before graduation give me my hug." I hugged her tightly, grateful for our friendship.

She laughed. "You might see me before graduation, at your wedding!"

"Girl, bye, I am not getting married until after graduation."

"Sooo, summer wedding?"

"I don't know yet," I answered honestly.

"Girl, you better start planning before Devonte have ya'll at the courthouse."

"Hmm, actually that's not a bad idea," I said, only half-joking. I did not want the stress of planning a wedding.

"You are not having a courthouse wedding. You need to have a big day and celebrate your love. And I need to wear a cute ass bridesmaid dress and knock Trey off his feet."

"Yeah, good luck with that." Trey was just a man hoe at this point. I didnt know why she even tried.

I helped her load her bags in the back.

"Be safe," I whispered, as I gave her one more hug.

"I will, I will."

Those used to be words I just said to people I cared about, but after my own near-death experiences, I really meant that shit. I wanted everyone to be as safe as they could, and I asked God to look out for them.

Because people were crazy.

I walked to Tae's car, grateful for the tint to the windows because I felt like everyone was staring at me when I drove it. Sometimes teenage boys would talk car to me, and I would just nod dumbly as they asked me about features I had no idea about.

A/N: omg this happened to me and he was like is that the blah blah blah I'm like uhhh I don't knowwww my guy

I put my bags in the trunk and got in the driver's seat. Immediately, my phone trilled. It was Tae.

"Where you at?"

Well damn, all up in my pussy boy. He acted like he didn't have my location. But he really just forgot so he never looked at it for real. "Leaving the mall." I started the car and waited for the bluetooth to switch on.

"Did you find something?" He knew I had been looking for a dress for a little minute now.

"Nah. Well, not a graduation dress." I giggled. I found something, though. Stuff I did not need.

"Lemme find out you bought the whole mall but not a dress. The thing you actually need."

"Whatever," I said still laughing. "Where's Mon?"

"I just dropped him off, I'm back at the house."

"Well I'll be there in a minute since this car is fast as hell.

"Be careful. Don't be out here driving reckless."

"Me driving reckless? I should be telling you that."

"I do not drive reckless. Fast, hell yeah. Reckless? Never."

"Yeah right." I rolled my eyes.

We relaxed into easy banter as I navigated the now familiar roads of Atlanta that lead up to his house. It was a nice ass area. Quiet, luxurios and secluded. Gated.

All that shit that helped me feel safe as I laid in bed next to Tae evey night. But the main thing that made me feel safe was him.

"How far out you are?"

I checked my GPS. "Like 5 mins. You be asking questions that looking at my location can answer."

"Shit, I be forgetting to look at it. Aight I'ma come out and get your shit when you get here. I'm finna pee real quick. I made sure Mon got potty breaks but that nigga aint give me no time to myself."

"Ok love." Knowing Tae, that meant he would be leaving his phone on the charger while he went. I already knew his phone was almost dead. Mindless, I drove towards our home. The five minutes became two as I gassed the car and it responded easily. It was a fast car.

I didnt even notice the speedometer creep up.

Nor did I notice the car behind me.

Suddenly I felt a jolt. My heart pounded as I fought for control of the car. Did I hit something? Then I heard the tell tale sign of a flat tire: the awful sound the tire makes as it rotates deflated.

"Shittttttt." I moaned. The car was losing momentum. Thankfully I wasn't on the interstate and I was in a residential area so I carefully pulled the car over. I would have to get out to assess the damage. Leaving my phone on the charger, I hopped out of the car, praying it was nothing more than a flat.

I surveyed the car. It was worse than I thought. I had not one but two flat tires and when I say flat I mean pancake. Getting closer I saw jagged indentations. Someone had intentionally cut my tires.

What the fuck.

Suddenly I got chills. This was intentional and targeted but whether I was the target or Tae I wasn't sure yet.

But I was terrified. I quickly got back in the car. "Tae?"

There was no answer.

He was still in the bathroom. I found myself wishing I hadn't been so squeamish about him peeing on the phone with me earlier in the relationship.

I called Trey, sending Tae a 911 text.

"Yerrrrr."

"Trey someone slashed my tires." My voice came out in a jumbled rush, my anxiety causing me to trip over them.

"Where you at?" I could hear him grabbing his keys.

"I'm right down the street from the house." I pressed my phone. "Im sending you the location."

" I'm on the way. But Tae is closer, Yaz."

"Ima call him."

"I low key want you to stay on the phone but ok. But call me back asap if he don't answer. And don't get out the car."

I hung up and dialed Devonte, my heart pounding. A car pulled up beside me as it rang.

"You ok?" The speaker was a guy about my age, dark skinned with a chiseled handsome face. He drove a truck, and he had his passenger window down to speak to me.

"I'm fine." The line was dialing.

"You sure? I'm looking at two flats. You know how to change a tire?"

"I'm fine. Thank you. My fiancé is down the street."

He shrugged and rolled up the window then sped up. As he drove off I spied what looked like a small child in the back seat, when the back window rolled down and up briefly.

"Yaz, why you not home yet?"

"Someone slashed my tires and I'm stranded on Howard Street."

"I'm on the way. Don't get out the car Yaz, you hear me?" I could hear his keys rattling and the front door slamming shut.

"Ok," I whispered.

The few minutes it would take him to get here felt like eternity as I watched cars zip pass.

Then I saw a dark car slow to a stop. "Someone slowing down."

"Shit, I'm literally down the street."

To my surprise after the car parked behind me, a uniformed cop got out.

"It's a cop."

"I'm coming, do not get out the car."

I watched the cop until they were tapping on my window. I obliged and rolled it down.

"What seems to be the problem, Miss?" The cop was tall and lightly muscled. Handsome if you're into cops. Slightly boyish face but the rest of him was manly. His skin was medium toned and his hair was cut low in a fade.

"Just a flat tire. My fiancé is almost here to help me."

"License and registration."

"What? I'm just waiting for a ride why do you need all that?"

"License and registration." His tone was steely.

Annoyed I handed him my license and searched for the insurance.

"Yazmine Carter?"

He was looking me up and down now.

"There's a warrant out for your arrest."
